Nate Temple must die.Mordred—the bastard son of King Arthur—has returned, and he will stop at nothing to utterly destroy everything his father ever created—burning the Arthurian Legend from the history books for good. He’s already defeated Nate Temple once, corrupting the fabled Knights of the Round Table into darker, nigh-invincible, merciless, killing machines—Knightmares. And once Camelot is … machines—Knightmares.
And once Camelot is nothing more than a pile of fiery rubble, Mordred plans to conquer St. Louis—after slaughtering Nate and everyone he’s ever cared about, of course.
But a vengeful god is also hunting Nate, and starts attacking his friends to draw him out. When one of Nate’s best friends is gravely wounded, Nate is forced to make an impossible choice—save his city from Mordred or save his friend from a blood-crazed god.
Both foes carry enough daddy issues to grant a first-year psychologist a second-year retirement. But Nate’s not that stable either, and if he can’t get a grip on his own demons, his victory might very well be worse than anything either of his enemies ever could have imagined.
The only option left is to shatter all the rules, opening himself up to deadly powers better left untouched and forgotten—and even that is a fool’s gambit, a whisper of a hope.
Then again, if we don’t have hope, we’ve already lost.
So, it’s time for Nate Temple to roll the dice.
Because in this game, even Hope can die…

Knightmare is the 12th book in the Nate Temple series. If you are new to the series, go find Obsidian Son: Nate Temple Series Book 1 and read it. If you like urban fantasy, you will be hooked, and better yet – each book is better than the last. Unlike series that get tired over time, this one only gets better. And this book is no exception.
It was fantastic
The mark of a good story is that your favorite character did not just solve the mystery or fix the problem, but they dealt with their flaws and grew as a person. In Knightmare, Shayne Silver made sure that ever member of Team Temple did more than just grow, they evolved.
New strengths were discovered, inner conflicts were revealed and resolved, supernatural powers were augmented, and our cadre of heroes and heroines reached a new echelon.
Shayne managed to do all of this, while Nate Temple and his allies battled enemies on numerous fronts. It wasn’t just good against bad. It was good against 31 flavors of bad, and Nate wasn’t serving out retribution in simple sugar cones.
At the end of it all, the threats only worsened, the happy moments turned to unadulterated joy, the small tears gave way to ugly crying, and Nate’s cadre of compadres were even more powerful and prepared than before.
Amazingly, throughout all of this Darwinian Development, this author managed to craft one-liners and moments – so funny that you have to put the book down to give it the proper soul-shaking laughter.
Open this book, with the knowledge that you will say disparaging things about the Author’s parentage for the way that he abuses your mind, heart, and funny bone – but then you’ll thank him for it.
Another hit for Team Temple!
I am running out of words for reviews for the Templeverse series. Phenomenal, Fantastic, Nail Biting, Stunned, Hysterical, Sad, Brought tears to my eyes, loved it, can’t wait for the next one. Shayne Silvers is a master of words. Trying to add words to describe it takes away from it. Read the series and see for yourself!
To prepare, I advise you to lock the door, dim the lights, turn on some mood music, and grab some tissues, because… Knightmare is a mental orgasm.
The pacing was exquisitely relentless in this book. Even parts that serves as “downtime” between actions had so much going on: tying up loose ends, answering long-standing questions, making you laugh, and/or tugging on your feels. A victory of exploded brain matter.
I wish I could give this 10 ! Knightmare is a spine-tingling, thought provoking, world twisting epic addictive addition to the Temple Verse! I am excited to see what happens next! Loved it and would totally recommend it and every book in the series! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I puny own copy.
Can Nate live up to his Legend?
The simple answer is yes! Shayne Silvers once again manages to take us on an epic ride for all of the thrills and spills, fights with knights, and even some baby birthin’,all while making you laugh and cry and experience the range of feels like no other author can. The clock is ticking when Nate realizes just how much time has passed while he pondered his existence on his mountain in Fae. Now he hast to gather his forces to come back and protect his beloved St. Louis, but what he comes back to is a ghost town because everyone has scattered. Can he take on Thor, Mordred, and the Knightmares, all while trying to figure out which god is lying (all of them) and which god he can trust (none of them). He just might have a chance, but only if he has the courage to let his friends finally meet their destiny by his side. Will the Four Horsemen finally ride??? Grab your copy and find out!
I really enjoyed this one. Mr. Silvers has upped his game even more.
If you haven’t read any of the previous books, do so Now. It will be a a series that you will read again and again.
Nate has been in Fae trying to get his head straight. He’s finally gotten to the point that he’s reconciled both of his sides, Nate and Wilde.
And the adventure begins!
Awesomeness like usual. Good to go get back to Nate and crew
Nate is back from Fae to find his friends fighting for their lives, in more ways than one. With Mordred and his knightmares, a crazy vengeful god, and the time clock ticking down on his promise to Anubis, Nate’s plate is definitely full.
This is, by far, my favorite Nate book yet. Shayne Silvers blew me away with the first page…who does that?! (Oh yeah, Shayne, that’s who.) When it’s a 90 degree day and the imagery the author creates makes you cover up to stave off the chill, you have pure magic in your hands.
Another AMAZING book by Shayne! It kept me saying WOW!
This book was AWESOME and Shayne ratchets up the intensity in the 12th book of the Nate Temple Series. The witty snarky comments and one liners from the characters, the anger you feel for the characters, the absolute cuteness. This book is hard to put down and even harder to predict!
Nate Temple is back!! The Horseman is galloping around and his family and friends are at risk!!! This is one of the best books in the series, and that is really saying something! What a wylde ride through many lands. This urban fantasy book is a great 12 edition in the Nate Temple Series. The author more than delivers, which he always does!! You need to climb into the Templeverse and give it a whirl.
Disclaimer: I have been a Shayne Silvers ARC (advanced reader copy) person since early this year. Second Disclaimer, I purchased all 27 books prior to becoming one and I would buy them all over again.
The Nate Temple Series, the Feathers and Fire Series with Callie Penrose and the Phantom Queen Series that Shayne writes with Cameron O’Connell are the best of the best!!! If you want to enter an entire universe and not know which way to turn, with all of the stuff out of left field that hits you broadside, you need this series!!!
Shayne Silvers’ Nate Temple series is easily among my all-time favorites for urban fantasy. As for the lead character here, I used apply what I called my “Dresden test” to this kind of book, looking to see how the lead character stacks up against Jim Butler’s Harry Dresden. Well, nowadays it’s been relabeled my “Nate Temple Test” so that gives you a hint of just how much I adore Mr. Temple. Knightmare (Book 12) shows precisely why this is so. I mean not only does Nate have to deal with vengeful god hunting him, but Mordred (yes, the one from the Arthurian legends) is back having corrupted the legendary Knights of the Round Table into freaking scary killing machines (the eponymous Knightmares) who are now also aiming to get Nate. A fantastic tale ensues, filled with suspense, thrills, action, great characters and a perfect plot. Frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Nate Temple is at it again; he can’t seem to keep himself out of trouble. Granted, there is a lot going on in his life, and with so many enemies, he can’t get away from it. The author is still at the top of his game with this one: questions were answered, more questions were raised, and it was all with almost non-stop action. I, for one, can’t wait to see what the next book will bring especially in light of the new characters, the phone call from an assassin, and the fall of a legend. I loved the book, and I think you will, too. If you are new to this series, it is a must to start with the first book. Be warned, however, Nate has changed so much from the beginning. I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
Loved it! One of my new favorites from Shayne Silvers
