Geek Girls Rule! When U.S. intelligence agencies invite teen geek and ace hacker, Angel Sinclair, and her friends to try out for a highly competitive school for government operatives, will she wash out or step into a future she never expected? My name is Angel Sinclair and I’m the youngest senior at a high school for technologically-gifted students. School bored me until my friends and I were … unexpectedly tapped to try out for a top-secret spy academy. I’m not sure I have what it takes to be an operative for the U.S. government, but my friends and I are going to give it our best shot. But first I have to go up against uber-skilled candidates who can do a thousand push-ups, kill a person with a fingernail file, and make handcuffs out of paper clips. My only defining skills are my mad hacking abilities and extreme awkwardness. I don’t know what kind of spy that would make me, but I’m not going down without a fight. With my loyal friends by my side, we’re in a race to finish at the top of the class. Together we have the smarts?but we’ll have to battle our insecurities and work together or miss out on an adventure of a lifetime. If you enjoy spy and mystery adventures, you’ll like the White Knights series by Julie Moffett, YA/NA Mystery and Mayhem Award-winning author and writer of the popular geeky Lexi Carmichael mystery series. Julie Moffett has done it again! She has given us another solid page-turner with Knight Moves. Action, heart, humor and characters that make it all really matter. While having read the White Knights will make elements of the book clear sooner, Ms. Moffett does an excellent job of integrating prior information into the current work. The characters range from almost 16 to 18 but there was nothing about this young adult novel that was a turn off for this old lady.
Slash personally delivers an invitations to “Spy School” and Angel is thrilled as are Wally and Frankie. From the first moments on campus life is unexpected, exciting, and a little scary as they work to earn their place at the university. Some of the challenges are out of their scope of experience so their only choice is to hang on and do their best.
Luckily for Angel, she doesn’t realize that she is the focus of a group with hostile intent; she has more than enough to worry about just trying to figure out the other students and the program.
Awesome, Awesome and Awesome. A friend messaged me that she had been up until 4 AM after the novel downloaded to her Kindle. I had not trouble believing that because it was keeping me awake too.
When the idea of the new series came up, I couldn’t imagine that I would love it as much as I do Lexi’s books but as different as they are, both series are great!
Knight Moves is the second book in the White Knights series. This is a YA series that I think preteen through adults will enjoy. It is a spin-off from the Lexi Carmichael series. I started the series with this book. I was able to keep up just fine but now want to get every single book I have missed.
There is so much I loved about this book that it is difficult to start. My brain shouting, “just tell them to read it. Tell everyone to read it!,” is not helping at all. I love that this book has three smart teenagers, two females and one male who are good friends. I love that Angel was a loner who is learning about friendship and is advancing her social skills in a natural way. I related to that part so well. All of the teens at the school are unique. They can, and do, stand by theirselves with their own strengths and weaknesses. Yet all of them are equal. The ending, of this book, wow! I don’t want to give it away but this sapient author surprised me with something I have found missing in a few YA books I have read. I felt like cheering! Oh and the school..if you aren’t going to Hogwarts, you probably want to go here. The negatives? I have none. I plan to recommend this series to my library for their YA section. I don’t have children in school but I am thinking to donate copies of it to the alternative high school as well as the high school libraries. Teens need to see they can be brilliant. They can be strong. They can be different yet equal and both sexes can be friends without the pressure of an intense relationship. They need to see that their strengths and weaknesses are normal and they are still valuable with them. This series shines a light for them.
Oh My Goodness!! action, intrigue, mystery, twists and turns in every chapter. so many turns, my own mind was challenged, right along with the white knights. I literally cheered them aloud, bit my nails at times. Thank you Julie for writing another book that is a hit out of the park!
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
In Knight Moves, Angel Sinclair is still in her high school senior year, only this time she and her friends, The White Knights are given an intriguing challenge. They were chosen to try out for a top secret spy academy. A challenge Angel wasn’t about to give up because that would mean free of top spa training plus a guaranteed job after she finished the academy training. Just imagine what these genius hacking crazy geek girls can do with this opportunity! Just hang on for the ride as you follow these interesting and fun loving teens while trying to prove they can do the job.
Again author Julie Moffett writes and amazing and intriguing story full of action, mystery, laughter and high school students who are too smart for their own good. I was in awe at the knowledge of the genius students. I enjoyed the characters already introduced in the first book, White Knights, as well as the nearly created characters for this book. Ms. Moffett weaves together the lives of these students with the knowledge and crazy hacking abilities and the genius’ they are and creates the story in a way it flows so smoothly and seems so realistic. I can’t wait for more from this author! And as with the first book as well, Knight Moves is a clean fun loving and entertaining read that teens and tweens alike with really enjoy, and want more. Even this older lady enjoyed this book and this series, so it’s really for everyone!
I received this book from Prism Tours to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
Think of a smarter and more clever Nancy Drew with lots more colorful companions who meet challenges head on and you get the feel of this story. Angel is a computer geek who is a loner but must befriend others to complete the Spy Academy testing. The results are often humorous and definitely challenging. A most enjoyable read and am looking forward to the next book!!
So happy to see Julie continuing her great YA mysteries!
