From the bestselling author of “Away From Here” comes an exciting new series! The Wordsmith Chronicles follows the trials and triumphs of a group of young, aspiring writers as they try to navigate the worlds of indie publishing, their personal lives, and staying relevant in an ever changing field. REVIEW BLURBS:“Knight’s story is about forgiveness, reflection and pursuing your dreams even if you … dreams even if you have lost all hope and feel like giving up.”
“I was hooked from page 1 till the end. I read it in one sitting.”
“My favorite thing about Knight by Christopher Harlan was the Wordsmiths. In the midst of the bro era, it was refreshing to see men that were so…. real. They are grown up & mature with serious goals, ambition & accomplishments but still manage to keep an air of playfulness to them. They aren’t your stereotypical nerds, nor your stereotypical tough guys.”
SUMMARY:
A Wordsmith.
That’s what she called me. Why? Because I could make her feel things with my books that no one else ever could. My name is Michael, but everyone knows me as Knight.
I write the books that you don’t want your family to know you’re reading. The ones whose spines you hold down so that passers by can’t see the cover, the ones you enjoy only in the privacy of your home.
My last book brought two women into my life—the one who broke my heart into a thousand pieces, and the one who may have the power to mend it. Everleigh.
My lingering blank pages needed inspiration, and that’s exactly what she was.
I know two things for certain—that my heart beats only for her, and that my best book is still inside me, if only she can help me pull the words from my wounded heart. I can be the writer that makes her heart pound in her chest. And soon, everyone will read my masterpiece.
I’m a Wordsmith.
Let me tell you my story.

A fresh new romance about an author from the indie romance community!
Knight has been struggling. A writer who lost his groove after his marriage abruptly ended. Heartbroken and crushed, Knight just succumbed to his own demons and just wallowed in his misery.
A fresh new idea from his bff’s brings him out of his funk. The start of an author fraternity, The Wordsmiths gives him new purpose.
Now focusing on this new project and starting to write again, Knight attends his first author signing with the Wordsmiths and his life is about to change.
Everleigh is Knight’s number one fan, just not in the creepy way. She’s read all his books and his most recent changed her life. Thrilled to finally meet her favorite author, she attends the signing with her best friends.
Their meeting shows an instant connection. Everleigh was already drawn to this author, but now she’s attracted to the man behind the words and the feeling is mutual.
Life always throws a few obstacles in the path to happiness and their story is no exception. Knight and Everleigh both have baggage and need to work through it to move toward their future.
The story felt so real and I enjoyed the familiarity of both the characters and references to the indie romance community. I am definitely looking forward to Colton and Harley’s story. I can’t wait for more of the Wordsmiths!
This story overall was a sweet read, and the author definitely kicked up the steam factor. It was nice to see the author add a little more attention on the physical intimacy. Knight and Everleigh are great characters and their thoughts and conversations are something most couples can relate to. They have great chemistry and basically an insta-love relationship. There was a lot of repeating of the same thoughts in different ways and sometimes there was little too much detail where it really wasn’t needed, but I feel like that is the author’s writing style.
The setup of book was inspired by The R&E Fraternity (a FB group of select male romance authors) and their first group signing. If you were there like me, than you know what a blast that weekend was. Also if you where there, than there are minor details that will stand out to you and really make you feel like you’re part of the story. I loved that the author is touching on the current events in the romance indie world.
This is the first of a three book series and it seems like it’s going to be on going story line that flows throughout the series. You also get an introduction to the main characters that will be the couples in the second and third book. I’m curious to see where this series goes and how it will reflect the current events of the romance indie community.
A fantastic start to what I am sure will be a great series. The amazing author has such a unique writing style and way with words. He is truly a wordsmith!! The story line grabs you from the start and holds you until the end. The characters are remarkable, and have great connections throughout. Anxiously waiting for the next book.
This book takes you into the word of an indie author. All of the lingo, fans and drama. I really enjoyed this book and felt I learned a little more of what an author goes through. The love connection between Michael and Everleigh is an added bonus.
If you have ever read a book and had it impact your life, you will relate to this book. Everleigh was in a toxic relationship and was finally able to end it through the strength of one of her favorite authors characters. Knight was struggling to write again until he met Everleigh and she changed everything for him. I loved the dynamic between all the characters in this book. I loved that Everleigh loved Michael for the person he was and not just because he was an author. Highly recommend this book.
Knight! Michael Knight, Wordsmith. Christopher Harlan, Genius! Christopher used his experience in the indie-author world and an idea birthed at a book signing to create a wonderful story. The story of a male author (and his two male author friends) who form a reader group to hopefully advance their popularity. Michael’s last book had a profound impact on one of his readers. The two meet at the Wordsmiths signing. Add in a crazy ex and industry jealousy and the angst ensues! Loved this first book in the series! Can’t wait for the next!!
Knight is a fun, enjoyable read in Christopher Harlan’s new Wordsmith series. Not only was Knight a character that was easy to like, he gave us some insight into the writing process of an author and the world of indie romance writing. Knight meets Everleigh, a reader, at the Wordsmith event and a smoking, hot romance begins.
He and his two close buddies, Colt and Grayson form the Wordsmiths as a way of combining their efforts to expose more romance readers to their books. If you had the opportunity to attend the Gettysburg event you will definitely see and feel the similarities of the event and the characters. If not, you will definitely still enjoy this book.
This story was well written, had relatable characters and a unique storyline.
What can I say about this book without giving away any spoilers?
Well I can say this and that is I absolutely loved Knight!
I was completely hooked before I had even finished the first chapter and I stayed hooked until I got to the very end!
Every book that I read by Christopher Harlan just seems to be more awesome than the one before it which is probably why I own just about every book that he has ever written because they all are addicting as heck!
If you haven’t read any of his work well then what are you waiting for? Get to reading them because I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed in any of his stories!
So if you haven’t figured it out that is a big HECK YEAH I most definitely recommend this book for anyone who’s looking for a fantastic story to crawl into and get totally lost within its pages!
I can’t even begin to describe all of the takaways I got from this book. Both Knight and Everleigh represented the strength and vulnerability that we all possess during those rough times. More importantly, how integral our friends are to our well-being. Bonus takeaway….. I picked up some additional cooking tips. LOL
Ever since I have found Christopher and his writing I was hooked. And this book is no exception. From the first word to the last I was hooked and this has become my new favorite of his. Have you ever wondered what runs through an indie authors mind. I feel this book gives a glimpse into the mind of an indie author. Knight is the story of Micheal aka Knight and how he and his friends Colton and Grayson navigate the indie book world. You also meet the beautiful Everleigh. Knight and Everleigh have a connection and chemistry that cant be denied. Don’t want to spoil it more but please please please pick this book up. Cant wait to see what Colton and Greyson do in their book
Michael Knight is an author going through a bad case of writers block. His fellow author friends decide to create a group called the Wordsmiths in order to create better exposure for each other. While at a book signing, Knight meets Everleigh, a fan of his work. She has found strength and inspiration through his work.
Knight is an awesome read. The characters are well developed and the story is relatable. I love the dynamic between each of the characters. I cannot wait until the next book is released!
This was a enjoyable and straight forward book, I liked it but I’m not up in the stars about it. Some descriptions of food could have been cut but than again there was one sensual scene that was worth
it
This is what I liked:
* Good storyline that progresses nicely
* Well described characters
* Secondary characters that helps create curiosity about what comes next in this series
* Hot and also sweet love scenes
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and a good amount of dialogues
* Enjoyable easygoing read.
Strong 4 stars
This was the first book I’ve read by Mr. Harlan and he has made a new fan. Since reading this book, I’ve been on a Christopher Harlan buying spree (Amazon must love me now, lol).
This is the story of an author at a low point in his life and how one woman brought him back to his dream life. Knight and his two best friends are authors. Not just authors, but Indie smut authors and proud of it. They each have their fan base, but Knight has hit a bad patch. Coming home early, he found his wife in bed with her best friend. After kicking her out, he’s hit the bottle pretty hard, and hasn’t written anything for a while. His friends have tried to get him back, but they are fighting a long hard battle. One night, they decide to hold a small signing for their fans. The weekend of the signing, Knight meets Everleigh, a fan who has come with her friends to the event. She’s loved Knight’s work and carries a dog-eared copy of one of his books for him to sign.
It’s not all fun and games in this story though, there’s trouble brewing with another male author, who’s out to sabotage by any means necessary.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The writing is excellent, the characters are engaging, and the story line hooks you in from the first page. It is definitely on my list for top books this year and I’m eagerly waiting for the next installment in this series.
What a fantastic start to a new series! Knight and Everleigh are both very relatable characters. I didn’t want to put it down once I started reading, I was glued to the pages. I loved the portrayal of the struggles and life of an indie author. I’m looking forward to more in this series
I really liked Michael (Knight) and Everleigh’s story. It gave us an instant connection love story while also delving into some of the behind-the-scenes or beyond-the-pages info on what it takes to be an indie author these days. Also, it is written by a man. I know, that shouldn’t make any difference, but it does. And you can tell this book and these words were written by a man. And not just any man, but by Mr. Harlan, and it’s all the better for it. Michael and Everleigh have both known adversity in their lives and when they meet Michael is just coming out of a severe tailspin of his personal life while attending a working event for his professional life. Everleigh and Michael decide to keep their relationship under wraps while the other stuff works itself out, for fear of stigmatization from their friends and colleagues (and people who don’t even know them.) Michael and Everleigh are both believable, likeable characters that you definitely want to root for, as well as are Colt, Gray, Rowan, and Harley. Also loved Mr. Greg Olden. I very much look forward to reading the next part in this story arc, Colton’s book.
This was such a good book! Fabulous start to a new series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.
I really enjoyed the dynamic of Knight and Everliegh and the idea of them meeting at a signing was a fun one to read about.
Christopher is a fabulous author who no matter what type of story he’s giving you has such a way with words. I’d one-click any book by him without even knowing what it’s about because I know it would be awesome.
Fantastic Book!
Another fantastic book by Christopher Harlan! I loved it! It was a great start for what I believe will be a fantastic series!
I loved all the characters and the great storyline! Michael and Everleigh were perfect together! I enjoyed how Michael and Everleigh’s relationship developed and the friendship between Knight, Colton and Greyson. They were always there for each other!
I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading the next book in the Wordsmith Chronicles series!
I loved this book so much!! The chemistry between Michael Knight and Everleigh was off the charts!! Loved the interlude with True North The love scenes are so extremely hot in this book!! I honestly recommend this book 100% and guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Christopher is an amazing author. Oh yeah and just when you think Wow that was a really hot love scene…. it just keeps getting better as the book goes on.
I really really loved this story by Christopher Harlan. What a bird’s eye view into what might propel Male authors into a romance genre along with all the good and bad that goes with it!! Michael Knight is just a man…but a man who writes romance and sex. Not the usual author for this genre but trying to differentiate yourself among others in the indie world is not always easy. He is also a man who wants to be loved and like many in this world, not everything falls into your lap the exact way you want it to. What happens when you fall for a reader? Will it discredit you as a legitimate author? Or will others just think you write in order to hook up? What happens when jealousy amongst other male authors threaten what you have worked so hard to bring to life? Christopher Harlan brings us (in a fictitious way but maybe not so impossible) deep in the heart of not only male authors but of indie authors trying to make their way in a dog eat dog world.
KNIGHT by Christopher Harlan
Welcome to the world of Independent Book Writers. Michael Knight “Knight “talked his 2 best friends into entering this world. They are not exactly where they want to be but they are using the tools they have available and thinking outside the box to market their work and themselves. This story is a love letter to all the independent book fans. I was a the signing that inspired this story and it took me immediately back there. I am enjoyed a look into the mind of the writer and how he viewed the readers. You get a feel for the love and the drama that is this world. Plus some amazingly hot scenes. Loved this book!!!!
