Dash Justice wrote the songs everyone sings. His face hangs on every girl’s wall. But Dash wasn’t always a rock God. Once, he was just Jamie, the boy I loved. But when my name, sung from his lips promised I was good for only one thing, all sweet thoughts of him die. Now his excuses mean nothing. His apologies are weak and I’m about to show the world that even rock Gods can be brought to their … rock Gods can be brought to their knees.

***WOW***
Kneel by Eden Butler is the first book in the God of Rock series.
Jamie Vega and Iris Daine are best friends and each other’s first love. Music is going to get him out of the town they grew up in and NYU is her future. They support each other through everything until something changes and their dreams change direction.
This book is told with the past and present intertwined. Sometimes the flash backs happen almost mid paragraph and it took me a bit to get used to this style of writing. Once I got the cadence down, the story flowed beautifully. There is such emotion and energy, there were times I was holding my breath waiting to see what would happen next.
My favorite quote from the book: “Everyone has a know. It’s a fingerprint of the heart, something made for you alone.”
I struggled a little at the first chapters of the book. The timeline was confusing me, but after I took a break and resumed the book with a clear mind, I got sucked into the story!
Jamie aka Dash Justice and Iri’s story starts many years back and there are so many memories between them. Even though they’ve been friends and lovers before, now they are enemies. Jamie does whatever he can to badmouth her and hurt her. A disrespectful song and some blackmail later, they find themselves in a tour bus for Dash’s tour.
Every moment they are together is full of tension, bitterness and passion. However the “hatred” between them, their sexual attraction is palpable and undeniable!
Moving through the book we get flashbacks from their pasts, before everything went downright. It was really sad to see how heartbreak and bitterness can change a person. What happen in the end of the book, made me really mad. What Dash did is seriously messed up and cruel. When I finished the book, I was so disappointed with him, that I was adamant about him not being forgiven.
Surprises, angst, and HOT!
I went into Kneel blindly without reading the blurb or description and it took me on a wild ride, with surprises at all turns. It was one of those stories that kept me off balance. It started in the middle and as the story progressed gave me pieces of the past that fit like a puzzle and shaped the present.
“Everyone has a Know. It’s a fingerprint of the heart, something made for you alone. Something you search for without ever knowing why.”
In Kneel, there is a beautiful story of first love, all sweet and swoony and perfect. Iris and Jamie discover love and life and music together.
“They are the one; the person in all of space and time, the whole of every particle, that you simply cannot do without.”
But life is not all swoony and perfect. In the present, Iris is a tough journalist trying to get the story that will restore her name and further her career. And Jamie is no longer Jamie Vega. He is Dash Justice, a jaded rock idol, intent on leaving any memory of his past in the dust.
“he was remarkable, an astounding mix of poet and musician.”
Just a little warning…this book is super panty-melting hot, too! I absolutely loved Kneel and can’t wait to read more of Iris and Jamie’s story.
“It’s a risk…”
“Chica,” he said, grin sexy, tempting. “Life isn’t worth the ride if there aren’t risks.”
-5Stars!-
I’ve gotten quite comfortable reading Eden Butler’s work. She has a way with a story where she pulls so much out of her characters that you feel like you know them, knew them, were friends with them. Kneel is no exception.
A second chance romance, you meet Iris and Jamie (Dash) as adults, then learn about their childhood. Their first romance. First loves in every sense of the word, they had their lives so intertwined, that decisions had to be made. Ten years passed with barely a conversation.
Now Jamie has taken the stage name of Dash and really made something of himself. And Iris is a journalist going for her story. But when they get close, and secrets are revealed, mistakes happen that might not be able to be fixed.
I will be sitting here on pins and needles waiting for Beg
Holy freaking shit, you better buckle up for one helluva ride. Jamie and Iris will definitely have you going through all the feels….. laughing, crying, anger, frustration and just flat out wanting to hit someone. I was so intrigued with the story I couldn’t put it down. Be prepared to be held captive by this amazing soul-searching, heartbreakingly, beautiful second chance read!
Dash is a Rock God but to Iris he is still Jamie the boy she met and fell in love with. When Dash slams her in a song and wrecks her life she goes on tour with him to do an interview that will put her life back together. All the while Iris has a secret that will changed Jamie’s life forever. Only problem is Iris is seeing more of the Jamie she fell in love with but this time will he destroy her heart along with her career? I really liked this story and the twists it had I never saw coming. The transitions between past and present were a little stilted but I still liked this start of this series. I can’t wait to read Beg the next book in this series. This book does end in a cliffhanger but I wouldn’t let that stop you from reading it. It was a great read!!
