“What I really need is a sugar daddy.”
The mysterious woman laments from behind the steering wheel of the car in Grant Lawson’s parking lot.
She’s obviously been living in the cramped SUV and Grant wants to know her story. First, he has to make sure she doesn’t freeze to death in the parking lot of his upscale resort located between the South Dakota’s Black hills and the famous bad lands.
… bad lands.
Maybe he can help the dark haired beauty warm up in one of the resort’s lavish suites while he convinces her to warm up to him.
Cassidy would love nothing more than to take the handsome resort own up on his generous offer, but can she risk staying put long enough to ride out this storm?

This is the third book in the series about some down and out women who are looking for a little temporary help from a “sugar daddy”. However, that isn’t even the scenario in this one, which is actually Book 3, not 2. Cassidy is on the run. (We don’t find out from who and why until the middle of the book, so I won’t give it away). While she had been a successful cake decorator, she is now supporting herself by crocheting bags and selling them. She is living off the grid and out of a borrowed car and finds herself in South Dakota in the winter with a storm approaching. To keep warm she has planted herself in the lobby of the Black Hills Ranch Resort and her car in the far corner of the parking lot, where she sleeps. Grant’s family’s corporation owns hotels and campgrounds, but he prefers managing this one. He notices Cassidy in the lobby, but when he discovers that she has been sleeping in her car, and her car battery has died, he is afraid of the liability and insists on comping her a suite. She mutters a comment about needing a sugar daddy, and eventually that quip, becomes a joke between them. As they weather a few storms they are drawn to each other, as neither has ever been before.
I have found all Rocklyn Ryder’s books to be quick entertaining reads and of the three books in the series, I like this one the best. Both characters are very likeable people, but Grant’s character was not developed enough to explain why he was single. Nice detailed description of the hotel, makes the reader, wish they could be staying there.
I read an ARC from the author as part of her review team. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Evil at its worst has caused Cassidy to run far away from her parents, her friends, her job and her once upon a time happy and normal life. She is having to live in a van, on the run, trying to stay one step ahead in this unfortunate cat and mouse game. She did nothing to cause this, and yet she has no choice. How long will it be until she is found, again?
It is nothing new or out of the ordinary to see Grant walking around, checking on the staff and the patrons staying at this hotel. Sure, he may own and run this beautiful hotel, but he also calls it his home. On his walk around he has spotted something that draws his attention, something not quite unusual, but definitely something that he is drawn to, a feeling of a wonderful surprise.
Actions and reactions sometimes “speak” louder than words. This is how Grant and Cassidy begin their story. His action or trying to start a conversation leads to her reaction of darting away from him and the hotel. He follows her, to the parking lot, to a van. A dreadful tale is seen through the window, and Grant kicks into protection mode. There is a lot of bantering between them for a while, and then a break through, the first of many, kind of a “let’s meet in the middle” begins.
Now let’s introduce the twists that face Grant and Cassidy. A very bad storm, this leads to a penthouse for her to stay in, a tub with hot water and a kitchen. This penthouse also comes with a very patient and kind hearted Grant, who brings food and coffee the next morning. Cassidy opens up and shares the entire story of what she is going through, not easy to hear for Grant but it offers clarity and understanding, as well as it deepens his protective mode. With no more secrets between them, chemistry takes over, and it is hot.
And with all things true to life, happiness will be tested. The evil (aka Donald) shows up at the hotel. This time things are different, there is more at stake for all parties. Evil has a surprise for Cassidy, to help to persuade her. Evil’s plan backfires because Cassidy is done with this, and confronts him. Anger can be used for good as well as evil. Grant is able to call for help, and Evil (aka Donald) gets a headache, one he won’t soon get over. Once evil is gone from the picture, Grant and Cassidy are finally safe to begin their happily ever after.
Knee Deep in Sugar is the third book in the Taste of Sugar series and I loved it as much as I did the other 2 stories.
Cassidy is on the run from a stalker when she arrives in South Dakota. There she meets Grant who helps her out with a place to stay since her vehicle is broken down and he realizes she is living in her car. Sparks fly between them immediately. I absolutely loved how Grant wanted to help Cass how and how he was just drawn to her even when he tried to fight it. It’s a great quick read and I loved the story.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Knee Deep in Sugar is book 3 in The Sugar Daddy series by Rocklyn Ryder.
A quick read which shows a different twist on the “spoiled and pampered princess” who you think of as wanting a sugar daddy.
The real concern and protectiveness comes out and Grant is hyper aware of everything going on around him. His intuitiveness impressed me.
A quick enjoyable read. Another must.

Gotta love a book by the creative and talented Rocklyn Ryder Knee Deep in Sugar is the third book of the Taste of Sugar series. Though this one is bit different then the previous books it still has lots of Sugar . Cassidy and Grant make a great couple so take the journey with them as they navigate thru the hurdles that intertwine with a crazy stalker larking in the shadows waiting watching until……..sorry you’ll need to grab your copy to find out what happens. I absolutely loved this story. The storyline was so interesting that it completely captivated me and was so intriguing that I couldn’t stop reading it until I finished with the very last word. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing book. Enjoy happy reading
I love Rocklyn’s books and was excited to start this one. Grant and Cassidy’s story is sweet and a change in pace. It’s fast, hot and steamy! Cassidy is living in her car when Grant comes to her rescue. When she tells him her story, he falls for her even more. Grant is a true hero as he not only saves her life, but gives her a new one in return. Loved these two!
I absolutely love stories that pull you in from the start and that’s exactly what Rocklyn was able to do with ‘Knee Deep In Sugar’. This story had a little bit of everything that I look for in a satisfying read. There was some mystery, intrigue, romance, conflict, a hot alpha male and a strong HEA finish. The characters were well written and I adored Grant while it took me awhile to warm up to Cassidy, (maybe I was a tad bit jealous). This was a quick sweet read that was just what I needed. I recommend this story and received an ARC in return for an honest review.
This is not your usual sugar daddy/baby story. To me, the only thing this book really has in common with the typical sugar daddy/baby plot is the difference in their income levels. Cassidy has been cut off from her normal support systems and is just focused on surviving from one day to the next. What starts out for Grant as helping a traveller through bad weather quickly becomes something neither of them could have predicted. I loved watching their chemistry in action and the psychological thriller twist in the book added another dimension to their story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Another great book in this series. Cassidy isnt looking for a sugar daddy. She is a strong woman in a bad situation. Grant is feels the need to rescue Cassidy, who doesnt want to be rescued. Good thing grant is super sexy! A interesting twist on a sugar daddy romance.
Just like a spoonful of sugar, this is a quick read that goes down easy. Because it is a short read, you have to suspend reality as it is pretty much an insta-everything. So it is not overly sweet, it has a little bit of tang re Cassidy’s situation. A fun, step out of reality read.
I received an ARC copy. This is my unbiased review.
What happens when you exhaust all outlets to remain off the grid to avoid a crazed loon?
A Possibility is in sub zero weather in a car that refuses to start.
Cassidy is at her whits end and running out of options.
Grant finds a beautiful but guarded woman in his lodge’s parking lot.
Can they trust one another enough to find what each didn’t realize they always wanted?
Fun series and enjoyed the fresh angle of this book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Knee Deep in Sugar is book 3 in the A Taste of Sugar series. While it is a fabulous story it does not fit with the first two books in the series at all. I did appreciate that Rocklyn Ryder gave us a quick note at the end of the book regarding this.
So anyway Cassidy is on the run from some scary evil stuff and ends up meeting Grant when her vehicle breaks down in his parking lot. The sparks that flew between these two were enough to keep them both warm during the winter storm they were stuck in! There were definitely more than a few obstacles that Grant and Cassidy had to overcome to get their happily ever after but they get there!
I consider this story to be completely safe and free of any kind of abuse, cheating and no others after meeting. There is a bit of other man drama but he’s part of Cassidy’s problem. They were never in a relationship. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.
Another Enjoyable Book from Rocklyn Ryder
I voluntarily reviewed an Arc of this book. Even though this is a shorter than usual read from Rocklyn Ryder it’s still fabulous. This is a really good, entertaining book. I loved the chemistry between the interesting characters and the way they interacted with each other. Their story kept me hooked and I didn’t want to put it down. This book has a romantic, engaging storyline and I really loved it, it’s a must read.
I really enjoyed this read between Grant, an owner and manager of his resort and Cassidy, a woman who is running from something. Grant spies her in his lobby and when he realizes she isn’t going anywhere when she goes to her SUV, he decides to step in to save her from staying in her car during a storm. Cassidy is wary at first, she has limited funds and can’t pay for the suite Grant puts her in. When she finally agrees, and decides to tell her full story to Grant, he decides he will do everything in his power to protect her. The two grow close and their attraction explodes but will it last when the danger is over.
A great read with steam and insta everything between these two that I really enjoyed. I liked the bit of suspense near the end that tied the story altogether beautifully. I loved that Grant was not a man wh*** and there was no drama between them. A quick read with great characters, great plot and a HEA that was perfect.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
I really enjoyed this story, it is the third book in the A Taste of Sugar series, it can be read as a standalone story.
Grant sees a beautiful young woman alone in his hotel and notices her leave alone before a storm, instinctively knowing that something is bothering this lady. He wants to protect her and keep her safe. Can Cassidy trust in Grant to help and protect her? Their chemistry is sizzling and I enjoyed the interaction between them.
Cassidy is a damsel in distress in need of a hero to rescue her and Grant steps in to take the job. Cassidy is on the run hiding from danger, she is almost broke and living in her car in the freezing North Dakota winter. Grant owns a beautiful resort and can’t have a beautiful woman freeze to death in his parking lot. This is a short, sweet, sexy story of two people brought together by fate and circumstance. Instant steamy attraction with a gentleman hero.
Very interesting book. It deals with security, fear, safety, personal space, insta-attraction and a whole lot of loving. I thought the storyline was great and that insta-attraction between 2 people never senses to amaze me. Another very good book by a talented author.
She’s crafty.
Cassidy is crafty and when she hits a particularly rough patch, she pretends she’s a guest at the Black Hills Resort and crochets.
Grant is the owner of the resort and is immediately intrigued by Cassidy. But why is she’s pretending to be a guest but sleeping in her car in the parking lot?
What I liked?
This isn’t the same old boring or predictable sugar daddy story.
Nope.
It’s a smart woman, not an eighteen year old with no life experience. A man who is rescuing a damsel in distress but he’s got a heart of gold. Maybe he needs a to be rescued a bit, too.
Satisfying and packs it all in a relatively quick read.
Recommend.
As always she did not disappoint with this book!
I’m ready for her next book! Love the nook and her!
Grant has his dream job, running the resort in the mountains that he loves. Cassidy is haunted, and is running to keep safe. On an extremely cold night she is rescued in more ways than just a warm bath and bed. The characters are very engaging and the story draws you in with the bite of suspense and the exploration of new attraction that grows into so much more. Grant found so much more than just a stranded traveler that fateful stormy night and Cassidy found safety and healing. I voluntarily read a copy of this book and did not put it down until the last page. I can’t wait for more.
