An innkeeper who reads minds. An ornery detective. And a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premiere destination for murder. My name is Bizzy Baker, and I can read minds—not every mind, not every time but most of the time, and believe me when I say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and … the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer.
*Cider Cove, Maine is the premiere destination for fun and relaxation. But when a body turns up, it’s the premiere destination for murder.
The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder.
A laugh out loud cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore and her partner in cozy crime, Bellamy Bloom.more
Welcome to Cider Cove! Maine and the home
of Bizzy Baker. The nickname Bizzy was the
result of a sibling unable to pronounce her
real name and it stuck with her.
Bizzy can read minds, not everyone’s and
not all the time. She can also communicate
with animals. Only one other person knows
of her special ability. Bizzy does not want to
end up caged in a government paranormal
agency because of this ability.
It is Autumn in Cider Cove where people come
to see the changing leaf colors. There is a
Harvest Festival at the Cove and Haunted
Harvest Festival at the pumpkin patch.
Down on the beach Bizzy’s cat which is a
black and white longhaired tabby named
Fish is being chased by a freckled mixed
breed named, “Sherlock Bones”. Sherlock
owner is Jasper Wilder who everyone calls
a vampire. Their is an instant attraction
between Bizzy and Sherlock.
During a bonfire on the beach, Bizzy
discovers one of her waitstaff stabbed to
death.
Turns out Jasper is actually a detective
who will handle the murder investigation.
Bizzy decides to start her own investigation
even after Detective Wilder warns her to not
get involved due to the danger involved.
A myriad of cleverly created characters, some
quirky, some zany, but all well defined.
I felt the murder mystery mixed with romance
enhanced the book.

given at the end.
I would like to be able to do this like the main character but I think I really wouldn’t be happy to read everyone’s mind. These days I can almost guess what people are thinking. A good story to take time to read and relax.
This is one of the cutest cozy mysteries I’ve read in a while! I just love that Bizzy is able to hear other peoples and animals thoughts–most of the time anyway. Some of the things she hears—-oh my—the animals have much nicer thoughts!
A hunk of a detective walks into her life–this gets somewhat funny until Bizzy happens upon a murder–then the thoughts fly!! Now this detective has a dog–Bizzy has a kitten. These two are hilarious together–
I laughed out loud a lot and bought the second in this series–I could not resist!! All I will say is I am very glad I can not hear other peoples thoughts!!
I did enjoy the story line of being able to read other people’s minds and it is great she can communicate with animals but I got really tired of the ongoing descriptions of how gorgeous the detective was. It happened (the description) almost every time he entered the scene. Enough was enough we know he is gorgeous.
4.5 stars
This was the first story i read by Addison Moore. I enjoyed the story.
I loved the title of the book, Kittyzen’s Arrest and the animals name’s in this book ( Fish & Sherlock Bones )
I liked that Bizzy could read minds even the animal’s which in turn lets her communicate with the animals (Doctor Dolittle anyone?) Bizzy’s interaction with Sherlock Bones and Fish (Bizzy’s cat) is what kept me reading the story. I adored Sherlock Bones and Fish.
I will definitely be continuing reading this series.
Is the ability to read minds a blessing or a curse?
Bringing a twist to a new romantic cozy mystery series. Rescued from the clutches of death by drowning by a handsome stranger. Be still my heart. The story’s heroine, Bizzy Baker, later learns her hero is none other than the new detective in town, Jasper Wilder. An exciting way to begin a new series, wouldn’t you say? Bizzy soon learns the handsome hero/detective is renting one of the cottages she manages. In fact, Jasper has taken up residence in the cottage just in front of hers.
There are so many colorful characters introduced in this story that I hope will become regulars in the series. I especially love the animal characters, and they are quite the characters. Bizzy’s feline fur-baby is a black and white tabby named, “Fish”. Jasper’s canine companion is a freckled mixed breed named, “Sherlock Bones”. Fish and Sherlock Bones are great together. Watch out Bizzy and Jasper, your fur-babies could very well steal the show!
Bizzy manages more than 30 cottages and an inn housing a café with outdoor seating reaching out to the beach, which incidentally provides the small town with scrumptious bakery items. Bizzy’s BFF, Emmie, creates the sweet confections offered in the café. Bizzy’s surname is Baker; however, a baker she is not. It is a running joke that Bizzy is such a bad baker, that she has been known to both over and undercook a dessert at the same time. Oh yeah, I shouldn’t neglect to mention that Bizzy can hear the thoughts of animals. Most of the time Bizzy can hear the thoughts of people… unless it turns R-Rated and then she only hears static white noise.
Bizzy is catering a huge event on the beach next to the inn when she stumbles across a stabbing victim which turns out to be one of her employees. She feels the need to solve the murder of her employee, especially since it happened on her watch. Will the thoughts she can pick up help solve the crime? No spoilers given here. You will need to read the book to find out.
This book was an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. If you enjoy reading a good whodunit mystery with a little romance thrown in for fun, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Bizzy Baker isn’t just your average quirky innkeeper, she’s got mind reading and her new kitty, a clever feline named Fish by her side.
Bizzy Baker loves her staff, so naturally when one member is found dead on her grounds, she’s got her inner-detective on, and claws out for justice. No one can solve this quicker than Bizzy. I think even the handsome detective staying at one of her cottage houses knows that as well.
However, Detective Jasper Wilder wants her out of his case and quit snooping. What he doesn’t know is though that he might need her more than he’ll admit. No one is more determined to find this killer more than the innkeeper herself, and the furry friends she has made on her way, including Jasper’s cat-hating dog Sherlock Bones.
It’s up to Bizzy to crack this case wide open. And that she does. But can she actually nail this killer or just tick off the already ornery detective—and the elusive killer too?
Stay tuned for this mind-reading innkeeper mystery. You are going to laugh, smile, and thoroughly enjoy this book. Any fans of her Murder in the Mix series starring Lottie Lemon will get a hoot off this new series. Happy reading! Love Addison Moore and definitely liking her partner Bellamy Bloom too!
Bizzy Baker manages the Country Cottage resort which consists of an inn, some cottages, a café, and a pet day care. She can read minds and communicate with animals. Bizzy has a cat named Fish and while they’re out on a walk along the beach, they meet a dog named Sherlock Bones belonging to a man named Jasper Wilder. The meeting of the animals winds up with the owners being swept out to sea. When Bizzy finds the murdered body of one of her waitresses, it turns out that Jasper is a new detective in the area. Bizzy decides to investigate the murder despite many warnings from Jasper that she can be arrested.
The story was cute and a fast read but I wasn’t as into it as I’d hoped to be.
Very much enjoyed this cozy mystery, plan to purchase the next book in this series. A light, enjoyable, entertaining read.

This book… it was pure joy to read! I was filled with humor, had sweet characters, a fun background and of course, a murder mystery!
Addison Moore has proved herself a master of cozy mysteries, together with Bellamy Bloom and they rise to the top of their profession.
I loved that this is the first in a new series, where crazy animals, a quirky leading lady and mystery all come together. The balance between the supernatural aspects, detective work and helpful friends makes this story a must read for all.
I could not get enough and really hope these author’s write fast! I highly recommend this story!! I received an ARC via Booksprout and I am leaving an honest review.
Fun new series. Interesting new characters. I love the animals a cat named Fish and a dog named Sherlock Bones. Add in sexy homicide detective and a fun mind reading inn keeper and you’ve got a winner.
This new series is by one of my favorite authors, Addison Moore and co-authored by Bellamy Bloom. The story takes place in Cider Cove where the main character, Bizzy Baker, is the innkeeper of the Country Cottage Inn. Bizzy has the ability to understand what animals, like her cat Fish, are thinking. She can also read most people’s minds. Bizzy falls over a body. She has never investigated a murder before but wants to find out the truth. She starts by questioning people that knew the victim. There are several missteps and wrong theories along the way. There’s quite a few interesting characters including a homicide detective who is new to the town. I’m already looking forward to learning more about Bizzy and the other characters in the next book.

Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom are an author duo you do not want want to miss!!
The first book in a new series you will want to read, rinse, repeat!!
Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn on a beautiful Maine coast, and has quite the secret. A secret she wants to keep locked up tight.
When one of her employees gets murdered at a local event, that secret may not be safe for much longer. Using her secret to try to find the killer could prove deadly.
Fall in love in Cider Cove and get to know Bizzy. Warm your heart with her pretty kitty Fish, laugh at Sherlock Bones, and roll your eyes at an ornery detective.
This is one book series you do not want to miss!!
I personally cannot wait for the next book!!
I have loved Addison Moore’s books since I first read Bryson and Baya’s story, 3:AM kisses.
This is my first Bellamy Bloom story.
This story is phenomenal. First, the name Bizzy Baker is so funny and original. It a great play on words, Bizzy Baker the Inn Keeper, and she lives in Cider Cove. I also really like that the cat is called, Fish and the dog is named Sherlock Bones. Very fitting names, also great play on words.
When I first read the description of the book, I was worried that it would be too similar to Addison Moore’s Murder in the Mix series, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend the time to read it. However, I’m so thrilled I went with my gut and took the chance on reading it. The story and characters are so amazing. It’s unique and original in it’s own right. It kept me interested from beginning to end. Obviously, seeing as I downloaded the book at midnight and here it is, 5 am, and I’m already finished with it.
I really enjoyed this first step into the new town of Cider Cove and I look forward to the next in book 2, Dog Days of Murder.
Well done to both authors, Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom.
