This talking cat has a murder to solve… But will his new human agree to play Watson to his Sherlock? I was just your normal twenty-something with seven associate degrees and no idea what I wanted to do with my life. That is, until I died… Well, almost. As if a near-death experience at the hands of an old coffeemaker wasn’t embarrassing enough, I woke up to find I could talk to animals. Or rather … to find I could talk to animals. Or rather one animal in particular.
His full name is Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton, but since that’s way too long for anyone to remember, I’ve taken to calling him Octo-Cat. He talks so fast he can be difficult to understand, but seems to be telling me that his late owner didn’t die of natural causes like everyone believes.
Well, now it looks like I no longer have a choice, apparently my life calling is to serve as Blueberry Bay’s first ever pet whisperer P.I while maintaining my façade as a paralegal at the offices of Fulton, Thompson & Associates.
I just have one question: How did Dr. Doolittle make this gig look so easy?

What a good story! I enjoyed it.
Kitty Confidential is the first book of the Pet Whisperer P.I. cozy mystery series. It introduces Angie Russo, the proud holder of seven Associate Degrees who lives in the small town of Blueberry Bay, Maine. When Angie accepts a temp job as a paralegal, she experiences an electric shock when turning on the office coffee machine. This shock somehow renders her with the ability to hear what a tabby cat with the long moniker Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton says. The cat, who she nicknames Octo-Cat, enlists her help to solve his human’s murder. This is a fun, quick read with Octo-Cat stealing the show with his catitude. Cat lovers and cozy mystery fans will enjoy this book. I look forward to continuing the series.
After an accident with an old coffeemaker, Angie finds herself talking to a wealthy, spoiled cat. This was a quick read that had me laughing out loud in many parts. Octo-Cat is hilarious! He is snarky, witty, and confused by humans. He is exactly what I envision a talking cat would sound like. The murder mystery aspect was well-written. I loved this story and look forward to reading more in the series.
I bought this book on Amazon to read for an online book club.
Very entertaining!! Paralegal Angie Russo can suddenly talk to and hear her boss’s great-aunt’s cat after getting shocked by the old coffee machine at the reading of the aunt’s will. The Cat tells her that his owner was murdered. Angie volunteers to take the cat and they investigate. The cat’s sarcasm and attachment to the finer things is hysterical. This book was very entertaining and kept you guessing as to the killer. I will definitely need to read more of this series!!
Kitty Confidential: Pet Whisperer #1 by Molly Fitz is a quick and delightfully fun read. It’s the beginning of Angie and October-Cat’s life together solving his late owner’s murder. If you love mysteries and pets then this is the series for you! Can’t wait to get caught up with Angie and Oct-Cat.
This fun title kicks off a new series. Paralegal Angie Russo is asked to prepare coffee for those attending the reading of a will and receives an electric shock when setting up the coffee maker. After regaining consciousness, she discovers that she has ability to talk to animals. Well, she can speak to at least one animal – a very spoiled feline who is a beneficiary of the will.
Because he has an unusually long name, Angie decides to call him Octo-Cat. It seems that Octo-Cat is convinced that his previous owner was murdered and presses Angie to investigate.
The story is full of twists. Relationships are not always what they seem on the surface. There are multiple possible suspects, and I have to admit to being surprised when I learned who committed the murder. One thing I did not like is that although the crime is solved, there is another issue at the end that we won’t know more about unless we read the second book in the series. Keep that in mind if you are not a fan of cliff-hangers.
I think anyone who enjoys a cozy mystery and stories that feature animals will enjoy this book.
This book is a soooo cute book. It has humor, mystery, murder, and a sarcastic talking, cat; what more could you want?
I think it has a really entertaining plot, with excellent banter between the main character, Angie, and Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton AKA Octo-Cat. I’m pleasantly surprised by how believable the communication between Angie and Octo-Cat is. I could see their interactions in my head and really felt like I was inside the mind of a cat. The descriptions of the way the cat viewed things were so on point, and it had me laughing throughout. I liked Angie’s character too, but Octo-Cat stole the show for me. He is snarky, smart, self-entitled, and just how I would imagine a cat to think and act.
I not only appreciated the relationship between the two main characters, but I also liked the actual story. I was a little iffy at first, wondering if there would be a lot of plot holes in explaining things, but there really isn’t, and the story flows very nicely. I think the author did a wonderful job of keeping the reader’s attention and is very attentive to answering the questions the reader may have during the story. I feel she wraps up the story and elucidates the who, what, where, when, and whys.
Overall, this is a fun book that engages the reader and gives us some laughs throughout.
Kitty Confidential is the first story by Molly Fitz that I have read and it is also the first book in a series called Pet Whisperer PI. This is a fun and we’ll written cozy mystery that kept me turning pages. The twist is, the main character and the cat can talk to each other — Stop, don’t leave, it really works. It is a quick and fun read that will make you smile and possibly even laugh outloud.
Angie Russo is working as paralegal when she receives an electrical shock that knocks her out. When she comes to, a very obnoxious cat is telling her its human was murdered and she needs to find the killer. Is she still unconscious? Cats can’t talk, right?
Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton knows that his human was murdered and demands that Angie figure it out. He knows how and he knows who did it. Unfortunately, as all humans look alike to him, he can only identify the guilty party by smell, so he needs the human’s help. By the way, do you have any Evian?
I loved this talking cat — he is so full of himself and demanding, a true I’M THE CAT, cat.
This Five-Star murder cozy mystery will keep you guessing who done it until the final reveal. If cats, like story that makes you laugh, this is it!
I did receive an ARC copy from the author and the above is my honest review.
This is such a fun cozy mystery. I loved how an everyday paralegal almost dies from getting shocked and than finds out that she can talk to animals. She than uses this ability to help solve crimes. I laughed a lot throughout this book. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
This was a fun and funny book to read. Yeah I know cats can’t talk for real but if they could I’d want it to be like Octo-Cat. Being that this was the first book in the series I am looking forward to reading the rest.
Not my usual genre but I did enjoy the story. The characters are likable, the editing is good and there was an unexpected twist at the end. This was a fun light read.
A near death experience gave Angie Russo,
a paralegal at Fulton, Thompson & Associates
a new skill……the ability to talk to animals.
Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton,
the cat was at the law office for a will reading of
his latest owner when Angie’s accident happened.
Angie woke up and the cat told her that his human
had been murdered. He wanted Angie to find the
murderer. So her experience as a pet whisperer
PI begins.
An intriguing, interesting, suspenseful adventure
with a cat full of himself. The cast of characters
was colorful, quirky, adventurous and well created.
The reader will be taken on an adventure as
Angie lead by the cat, nicknamed Octo-cat get
involved in the shenanigans that will uncover the
culprit.
An enjoyable read with an unusual cat taking the
lead with the new Blueberry Bay’s pet whisperer
PI.
I just loved this start to the Pet Whisperer series! Angie can speak to animals after being electrocuted by an old coffee pot in the attorney’s office where she worked. The timing was perfect as a will had just been read, a will of an old lady who loved her cat. The things the cat tells her, the cat now named Octo-Cat, puts Angie on edge. Now Angie has custody of the cat and going to track down a murderer. Loved the writing! As we grew up with cats in the house, I could just see the cat speaking and the looks he was giving, and remembering how the cats sometimes looked at us like we should know what they are saying. Great memories flooding back! Really enjoyed reading the story and getting to know Angie and Octo-Cat. Where will the next adventure lead? Cannot wait to read to find out.
What a delightful book! When I started reading it, I wasn’t quite sure this was going to be for me. The more I read the better I liked it. Wonderful characters and Octo-Cat is the greatest. I just want to pick him up and cuddle him! Well developed mystery with an ending I didn’t see coming too!
Not my usual reading material, but a really cute easy read. Quite imaginitive with the talking cat angle. Plenty of twists and turns in the “who dun it” plot so that my interest stayed high until the end. Good first entry in the series looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Angie Russo is a paralegal in a law firm in Maine. She’s the owner of 7 associate degrees and would prefer to remain a student. However, she need to pay the bills. While making coffee for a grocery of people who are listening to the reading of a will, she’s electrocuted. When she wakes up she can talk to the cat. While trying to solve who killed the cat’s owner, Angie becomes enamored with the cat.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more.
Angie Russo is working as a paralegal in a law office when she’s asked to make coffee for a gathering. The gathering is to read the will of the late Ethel Fulton. When the coffee maker nearly kills Angie she’s brought back to life and hears someone talking to her. She soon figures out that it’s Ethel’s cat, Octavius, talking to her and he’s telling her that Ethel was murdered. Angie calls Octavius Octo-Cat because his real name is much too long. Together the two of them figure out the clues to find the person responsible for Ethel’s death. And Angie is appointed guardianship of Octo-Cat as he inherited the bulk of Ethel’s estate.
First in a new series, Kitty Confidential, was a wonderful read. You have to love Octo-Cat and his personality. Molly Fitz has the attitude of many cats down pat with Octavius. The book drew me from the beginning keeping me hooked until the end. Well-written with well-rounded characters you enjoy getting to know, Kitty Confidential is a fast read with a lot of action. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next in the series.
After having accidentally elecrtrocuted herself while making coffee for a will reading in an office where she works as a paralegal, Angie Russo finds herself talking to cats. Most folks who’ve ever had a cat for a pet have found themselves doing the same thing, but in Angie’s case, the cat talks back, and he wants Angie’s help in solving the murder of his owner, the unfortunate lady whose will reading she was making coffee for.
Kitty Confidential is a charming and funny murder mystery of the “cozy’ variety. The clues come fast and furious as Angie and her newfound charge Octavius, affectionately titled Octocat investigate the murder of his elderly former owner … and a few suspicious relationships in the law office where Angie works.
A relatively quick read that’s a lot of fun.
Very short cute cozy mystery
Enjoyable light-hearted reading.
