Stay invisible. Keep people out. Avoid the pain. That’s how Eve decided to live after her family was murdered in front of her. A year later, her love of photography was the only thing that brought her happiness. It was going to be impossible to stay invisible when Kit, a cocky Australian classmate in her photography class, decided that his new favourite hobby wasn’t boxing, it was trying to get … wasn’t boxing, it was trying to get under her skin.
Kit might have been everything she was trying to avoid, but the more he hung around her, the more he edged past her well built defences, to the one spot she couldn’t afford to let him in: her heart.
No matter how much she tried to protect herself, Kit was hiding secrets of his own, and they had the ability to change Eve’s life drastically.
If there was a thin line between love and hate, what happens when that love is betrayed?

I loved the premise of this book and its synopsis had me excited to read it. I appreciate where the author was going and love storylines that are rich with a variety of characters in addition to the starring couple.
My issue is the beginning of this story is it felt repetitive and slow. It seemed disjointed and I struggled with it not only keeping my interest but following the story. I can’t even say I disliked the characters because it was never clear who they were.
I admit I started skimming at 35% and the storyline got angsty around 80% but even that didn’t make sense to me.
I see this book having a lot of potential but it needs some help with flow and content in my opinion. Good luck and I always admire someone on the journey of developing and producing a book.
This is such an amazing story. I absolutely loved the characters. I did feel like there were a few parts of the story I was able to predict, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. It also felt a little slow paced for the firs half of the book or so, but then about 70% through BAM! Wow did it pick up. Can’t wait to read the next book.
K & R’s Dark Angels Book Blog’s Review:
I really enjoyed reading Kit by new this new to me author. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down. I will definitely be reading more of this series.
I loved Kit & Eve! Their story was original, different from anything I have ever read. So many things happened that I never expected. Especially that ending. Can’t wait to see what Eve’s final choice is for the amazing cliff hanger ending of Kit.
I can’t wait to read more of this series!
This is the first i have read by S R Dyble and it won’t be the last! I love finding to to me authors, it makes the reading interesting. I absolutely loved Kit and Eve! I can’t wait for more in this series!!
Eve and Kit are just angsty, sexy, goodness!!!! S.R. Dyble rocked my literary work with this book!!!!! I didn’t want to see those two little words on the last page!!!!! More, More, More!!!!! Five HUGE stars!!!!!
Now I love a really good rom com with an angsty love story!! I love characters that are a bit broken or wounded. If you like a hot H who is alpha and has a quick wit your going to love this book. This story has it all!! Now you need to know this is this authors debut, and I honestly was blown away!! It’s sweet and witty, it will make your heart hurt and your head swoon. Really wonderful story. I’m excited for the next book, it does have a cliffy, but it just makes you want more!!
Kit is a well written debut novel that I really enjoyed.
Eve is struggling to get through each day, to live her life after her family was murdered. She vowed to never let anyone close. However she didn’t bargain on meeting Kit.
At first I didn’t like Kit but he certainly grew on me.
The chemistry between these two is hot and I loved the chat between them.
I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
WOW!
“WOW this book was a great story! The characters was awesome and story plot was great. I could not put this book down. I need book 2 ASAP. : )
I love the suspense and secrets revealed in Eve and Kit’s story. Lots of learning about themselves and maturing along the way. Eve’s fiery temper certainly keeps Kit on his toes! Looking forward to the next book.
Aaahhhh!!! This is my first read from this author and she has such a story to tell! I love a good series with potential for more to come, especially with brothers, but I was not expecting that ending!!!
Eve seemed like a very take no bullshit type of girl and while I understood the push and pull of the relationship they had, I was a little annoyed. I can understand she’s been through so much and she has this wall up but I was ready to punch Kit each and every time.
Kit isn’t the type to settle down but he seemed to be interested. Although every time things got to a good part in their life he somehow blew it up. Making stupid decisions, saying the wrong thing or just plain being a dumb guy.
While I wasn’t sure I liked the back and forth it made total sense. That is exactly how most relationships go. The woman is waiting for the shoe to drop and usually when it does they are devastated but THAT ENDING!! Woman you better have the next book ready! I loved most of this book and while I enjoyed reading it, you had some extra details that I don’t think were needed. You don’t need to explain each and every thing they do but I get it. Congrats and I’m ready for the next!
This book is definitely not for me. It was really slow and I just couldn’t stand Eve. Kit was more tolerable but that’s not saying much.
I did not see the twist coming and it was bloody fabulous. I loved the twist and I really didn’t expect it. I also thought it was a very nice twist. It sent me into such a spin but so much of this twist made sense when it came to Kit. So much more of his character made sense.
Oh my god I actually need the next book, it left as a cliffhanger and I am not mentally prepared for it. But I need the next book. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Eve was ready to spend the rest of her life avoiding love. After her entire family was murdered, she thought that might a good enough reason to avoid letting anyone get close to her again. The pain of losing someone again was a situation that she didn’t want to find herself in again. She had found a new way of life and was content on keeping her life as simple as she could. For a year, Eve had managed to do just that. She kept to herself. She had readjusted. She had found a way to avoid the pain. Enter Kit Carson; the exact person that Eve doesn’t want in her life and the exact person she wants to avoid. But the universe doesn’t listen to Eve’s wants and neither does Kit.
I was so nervous for the first time I met Kit. I knew that he was going to be that classic cocky, playboy character but he came in almost TOO cocky. I then wondered if there would be any true character development and if there was, would it be believable. Throw in the accent and he’s truly just a fantasy character for any reader. A classic asshole that you can’t help but slowly fall for. One thing I did love was as you followed along Kit’s journey you got to experience each first with him. He did change his ways for Eve and in doing so, experienced a different way of life. Seeing Kit truly juggle this new environment is exciting..
Where Kit was almost too much of a character, Eve lacked a bit for me. I understand that she is withdrawn after the tragedy, but I found that it took almost too long for her to start to let Kit in and let her personality out. The angst and tension between them was prominent from the beginning, I would have liked to see Eve’s shell crack just a little bit sooner. At the end we started to see an Eve get a little more fire in her and honestly that was the best part for me. Maybe more of Eve’s emerging character will come out stronger in a second novel.
While this was an easy story to get in to, the beginning dropped you in the middle of a situation without a lot of explanation and the pacing of the book could have moved faster. It started to get more intense the further you got into the book, but the end left you on a cliffhanger that its enticing enough to be invested. I’m intrigued to see what comes next in Kit and Eve’s adventures
4.5 stars for Kit by SR Dyble. This is book one in the Carson Brothers series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Eve has had a rough life after watching her family be murdered. She finally decides to go on with her life and goes to college. She has been there for awhile when Kit and his brother Nick are enrolled in her class. This is strange since it has been in session for awhile. Kit is an Australian boxer who she does not like at first. She thinks he is an ass. Soon these two develop a relationship. At first it is just Kit pursuing her but soon Eve develops feelings for Kit. Then Eve’s past comes back to get her. She also discovers that Kit has been hiding secrets from her. Just when you think everything might be going in a good direction, bam we are hit with something else. I loved this book. This is the first book I have read from this author and I can not wait to continue this series. It has been days since I finished this book and I am still thinking about the ending. Just be warned it does end in a cliffhanger.
This is a new to me author and will definitely be one to follow. I found myself hooked from page one and left on tenterhooks on the last page. Can’t wait to see what happens next and to find out the brother’s stories in future books.
What a great debut novel from S R Dyble. Kit had me hooked from the very beginning it was wonderfully written, sexy and had a twist I didn’t expect.
Kit and Eve find themselves taking the same photography class, at first their relationship is frosty to say the least. Kit appears to be your typical bad boy womaniser and Eves a little more on the the quite side. But soon sparks fly Eve and Kit find themselves falling in love but when secrets are revealed will it all come crashing down around them?
A great read for me and I need book 1.5 yesterday. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this new author in the future.
I was lucky enough to get an arc for this and oh my life I could not get enough!
This story is told so well and Kit and Eve are so loveable!
The writing is brilliant and the characters come to life as soon as you start reading.
I cannot wait for the next book to come out because I am offically at a loss for how to continue my life now I’ve finished this!
“Kit” (Carson Brothers Book 1) by S. R. Dyble is a great read. I enjoyed Eve and Kit’s story. This story has romance, passion, overcoming tragedy, family, twist and turns, and more. This is a great debut from this author. I’m looking forward to reading what happens next in this series. Recommend to all fans of romance, family, and series.
This is a well-written and well paced story. The beginning really caught my attention and quickly hooked me in. There’s a underlining emotional story but the surface story is light and fun.
This is my first book by S R Dyble and will definitely not be my last. Each of the characters are so relatable and real and I loved them all. This story was fast paced, sweet, sexy and some suspense thrown in there.
A truly wonderful debut novel, I cannot wait to read more of Eve and Kit’s story. This one does end on a cliffhanger, however it is one that really makes you want to continue their story. I’m also looking forward to seeing what the author has in store for Kit’s brothers when they get their own stories.
Really enjoyed this book. Loved Eve and Kits story so much. Shes just trying to start her life over and he comes storming in. She tries to keep him at a distance but hes not so easily swayed and will keep trying. Great book!
