Stay invisible. Keep people out. Avoid the pain. That’s how Eve decided to live after her family was murdered in front of her. A year later, her love of photography was the only thing that brought her happiness. It was going to be impossible to stay invisible when Kit, a cocky Australian classmate in her photography class, decided that his new favourite hobby wasn’t boxing, it was trying to get … wasn’t boxing, it was trying to get under her skin.
Kit might have been everything she was trying to avoid, but the more he hung around her, the more he edged past her well built defences, to the one spot she couldn’t afford to let him in: her heart.
No matter how much she tried to protect herself, Kit was hiding secrets of his own, and they had the ability to change Eve’s life drastically.
If there was a thin line between love and hate, what happens when that love is betrayed?

I love when i read a “New Author”, I love it even more when i read a book that totally surprises and captures me so intensely that i can’t set it down.
This book does end with a cliff hanger, but it’s nicely done!!
Eve has dealt with a horrendous past and is now trying to find a balance in her life. A life she has promised to keep free of complications of attachments to other people. Until 3 obnoxious brothers enter her school. They might be hot and god’s gift to women, but the fact that one of them, namely Kit seems determined to give her a hard time, has you wondering right from the word go, what their game is, all is revealed!!!
Have to admit, at first i literally wanted to slap Kit silly! He really wasn’t overly likeable, his attitude to Eve made me want to punch him, yet at the same time he really intrigued me. this book has angst and drama, mixed with keeping you puzzled bout these brothers. Not all is as it seems, and the more i got into this story the more i wanted to know. I loved the angst between Kit and Eve, and even though at times he seemed to be cruel, i could definitely get why she would fall for him. Their romance is one that will have you hooked and invested into, until Secrets, and lies bring issues of trust to the forefront. What i can say is, I loved it!! As you get to know these characters and their reasons you will just fall all the more !! I did mention it ending in a cliff hanger, and i can honestly say i cannot wait to dive into more !!!!
3.75 stars
Kit is the first book in the all new Carter Bothers series by, new to me author, S R Dyble. While I personally am not a huge fan of coming of age stories, this book had a unique twist about 60% through, which kept me reading.
After experiencing a devastating loss, Eve is just going through the motions of life and Kit waltzes in and shakes everything up. Kit is a player and a half, while Eve doesn’t see her own beauty and worth. While Kit and his equally good looking brothers seem to just be players, it turns out they are much much more than they seem. (I found myself more intrigued by them than by Kit, if I’m honest. Nick was my favorite.)
The story ends on a cliffhanger, which I didn’t expect at all but seeing as how I think Nick’s story might be next, I’ll likely tune in to see how this one turns out!
Visit Hull. It was UK’s City of Culture 2018. YESSIR

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
The novel’s named after the heroine’s puzzling, temperamental and possessive love interest (so if you’re into that sort of thing, this if perfect for you!). Eve is a heavily traumatized but innocent girl at college (I spent a year in the UK , close to Hull actually, and I’m confused at why the characters call it college LOL), studying photography, and when she meets Kit, she’s kind of annoyed by him. He, however, makes it his mission to take her out, seemingly interested in her.
I have a special connection to Hull as a city, so I was excited to read this. The author warns the reader with a note at the beginning not to fear the slang that is about to follow! I, having spent a year in the wonderful North of the UK, enjoyed the references and the slang a lot.
For me the book REALLY took me on a ride in the final quarter where we got the PLOT TWIST! I wasn’t thinking about anything remotely related to what eventually occurs and when the twist was revealed, it elevated the entire experience of reading this book.
Eve & Kit have a delightful courtship (I’m saying this in my fake Sheffield accent) and they go through a couple of ups and downs along the book. The author ends the book with a pleasant (for me because I am about to start book 2!) cliffhanger that leaves you asking a bunch of questions…
Here comes the Evil Witch with her binary comments. Once again (referring to previous books I’ve reviewed), I found certain dialogue in the book very problematic. “It’s a guy thing.” “Girly girls.” This sort of language represents a thing of the past for me and I hate pinpointing it again and again, but I feel like if I bothered one author with it, I shall be consistent and write this about EVERY SINGLE BOOK THAT INCLUDES THOSE COMMENTS.
As a debut novel, Kit is promising. It’s an easy and fun read with some dark turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It brought up warm memories for me, especially because going to university in the UK was such an immensely fulfilling experience for me personally.
SR Dyble has it going on! Eve is content in her life alone taking pictures until she notices a man who won’t go away. Kit just knows he can break through to her. Once one are cozy with the story, S.R. Dyble hits you with one neck of a twist! What will happen now? You will be leaving everything you have to do until finish this thrilling read! I did.
I absolutely loved this book!! The back and forth humorous banter between Kit and Eve kept me hooked!! Eve has walls built higher then Everest due to the tragedy she’s endured but Kit has other ideas!
New to me author that has written a fast page turner. Great store easy read. Looking forward to the next one .
I absolutely adored this book and am so ready for book 2 and ready now. Kit and Eve have some fun chemistry and the banter between the two was priceless. Eve tries to stay detached after what has happened in her life and Kit shows up and starts with the banter and chipping away at her walls. This book has left me with many questions into Eve’s back story and I am hoping I get my answers in book 2
I was immediately intrigued by the beginning of this book, it really hooked me in straight away.
There are some very humorous scenes in the book- the Nair hair removal one foremost in my mind. The characters fun banter also provided some comedic moments in this otherwise mysterious story. These balance the darker aspects of the story brilliantly.
The mystery behind why Eve’s family was killed has you guessing for most of the story until it unfolds in an exciting, action packed series of scenes that sets your adrenaline pumping so fast. Things are extremely fast paced and there are lots of events unfolding.
Together Kit and Eve are sexy and extremely hot, they have an amazing chemistry. Kit is full of surprises but very caring. Eve is naturally suspicious of people and of becoming too close to them after having her world fall apart once before.
I am eagerly awaiting the next book, Eves, soon to be released.
S.R. Doyle is a new to me author and I’m already hooked and can’t wait to read more. Kit is the first book in the Carson Brothers series. I have really enjoyed this first installment. I was drawn in from page one and couldn’t put this book down. I love seeing the journey Kit and Eve are going through, all of their ups and downs. And Holy hotness all those Australian guys and their accents. You go through all the emotions from sadness, joy, heartbreak, laughter, my heart just melted for these two. This book does end in a cliffhanger and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.
To start I feel it is only fair to say to prepare yourself for a cliffhanger because this book does end in one. After reading this book I am a bit conflicted. For me this read kind of ended up as a 40/60 split. I found the overall story intriguing and I enjoyed the snappy banter and chemistry between Eve and Kit. However , on the negative side we have pacing that in my opinion was painfully slow and my biggest issue was that I found it impossible to like Kit. I can get past his overall playboy ways because I love when finding “The One” changes a guys attitude and actions and I also don’t mind if one character has more experience than the other. Unfortunately, I felt that some of Kit’s actions crossed into a very offensive area and they were a huge turnoff for me. I will not give spoilers but if a guy did that when he was with me it would be game over! And as if that wasn’t bad enough, then the “Boys will be boys” card gets played to excuse it!!!! Seriously!!??
An amazing debut book!
Oh, happy days and holy crap on a cracker! I simply LOVED SR Dyble’s quirky writing style, and the book as a whole was nothing short of amazing. Serious subject matter is layered under some of the funniest prose I have read for quite some time and the banter between the characters kept the book moving forward faster than I could have imagined. It is set in the city of Hull where SR proudly stated that the slang is different from anywhere else in the world. I know us Kiwis have similar verbiage to the UK, but some of the slang was hilarious and while I knew what it meant, some was certainly new to me!
Since the murder of her family, Eves’ world is lonely place, and she likes it that way. When a gorgeous and sexy Australian male barges onto her scene and turns her world upside down, just by ‘being’ there, she puts the hates on him.
Kit knows he’s hot, and he calls Eves out of the sizzling chemistry between them. She can deny all she likes, but he keeps showing up like a bad penny. And, holy hell, I knew something was up, and surely enough, a huge plot twist happens. I sat inside on a beautiful sunny day because I absolutely had to get the book finished. Seriously, it was an amazing read.
I have to say that the book finishes on a ‘HFN’, sort of. There’s more to their story, and luckily for me, the second one is almost now available, and I can’t wait to be reading it. 5 Stars for an amazing debut story from SR Dyble
Arrrrrgh! I hate waiting for the next book when it comes to cliffhangers. Luckily, I have Eves ready to go.
I had just grown to like Kit as I approached the end of the book – and despite his cocky and arrogant facade at the beginning, was really hoping he would be the good guy. Now, I’ll have to read on to find out whether or not this is actually the case.
This book was fast paced, full of drama, easy to read with a healthy dose of steam.
I recieved a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’m glad I read this book. I’ve heard a lot of hype surrounding this book and its lived up to that hype.
It reveals some secrets and mysteries in this first book.
It kept me going from beginning to end.
Cant wait to read Eve
I like the idea behind this book. I thought it was going to be more of a thriller type story then it was. It took a while to get to the outcome of the start of the story but I wasn’t disappointed. I have to say it is the first time I’ve preferred the side characters to the main. I liked Eve, but Kit, starting off as the “bad boy” trying to reform himself, he is still pretty much a jerk throughout, even while trying to convince Eve he can change and be a decent boyfriend. I loved the banter between him and his brothers, I think they add a funny side to the story and I preferred them over Kit. Maybe it’s just a sneaky twist that the author is doing, make you think Kit is worse then he really is? Perhaps I’ll get the answers I need in the next book? Only one way to find out!
Let me start by saying this was the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last.
Escort vs Blondie
Escort is totally all alpha and possessive
Blondie fights him every step of the way!
Their chemistry is off the charts.
Add in Chris and you have the drama….or do you?
Only 1 way to find out!
This is the authors debut novel and I loved it. KIT is the first book in the new series Carsonbrothers. ‘KIT’ had me hooked from the very beginning it was wonderfully written, sexy and had a twist I didn’t expect. This is Kit (one of the brothers) and Eve’s story.
Eve has dealt with a horrendous past and is now trying to find a balance in her life. A life she has promised to keep free of complications of attachments to other people.
Kit and his brother Nick were the newly enrolled guys in Eve’s photography class and their first meeting was sour, making Eve hate him instantly. He was cocky and he loves teasing Eve. Eventually, they finally got together but Eve has a past she’s trying to move past to and Kit has a secret his keeping close to himself. When secrets are revealed will it all come crashing down around them?
This does end on a cliffhanger but it is done really well and there will be more. I needed book 1.5 as soon as I finished book one. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this new author. I highly recommend this book.
I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.
For a debut book let me tell you SR knocks it out of the park. You would never guess that it was her first release. This book has it all from the romance to the intrigue to a little bit of comedy this book has it all. Even that little bit of mystery that I love in books but that will drive you just a little bit crazy trying to figure it all out but you know you love it. Eve has been broken beyond repair and put through a tragedy that no one should have to suffer. So she vows that she will no let no one else get close to her. She won’t love anyone else. Then Kit comes along to her school and even though he first comes across as an butt he works his way in. But she knows so little about him. But as the secrets start to unravel will Eve survive this time around? Find out when you read this absolutely amazing debut book from SR. I’m already jonesing for the next book!!! This is one series I’m really looking forward too. It’s very new and refreshing and I highly recommend it! By Tina
I have mixed feeling about this book. Keep in mind it IS a debut novel. That being said I loved the idea behind it. The suspense and uncertainty. However, it was long and drawn out. I really had a hard time keeping interest until 70%, that’s when all the action happened. I can’t wait to read the next book and see how this authors writing style grows.
I have to say I was so shocked when I found out this was a first time author. This book is absolutely amazing! Very fast paced and definitely leaves you wanting more. Going crazy waiting for 1.5 to come out. Be sure to get this book…you will not be disappointed!
S R DYBLE oml, for a first time author let me tell you this debut novel was something else. I loved what she brought to us. She takes us through the lives of these characters and has us wanting more of them. You have the twists and turns, and you have the chemistry between the two. When going into this book, have an open mind and you will understand more.
I cant wait to read the next book!! Bring it on, I am ready, I think lol..
