“One of them gets 24 Hour Protection and the other gets heated nights at the ranch” Carlos:I certainly didn’t want to waste my time babysitting a wannabe actress. Especially, when in order to do my job well I would need to run everything by her stuck-up, pain in the ass cousin. But there was something about her cousin that struck a nerve with me.She seemed so smart and extremely sexy. What was the … seemed so smart and extremely sexy.
What was the price I was going to pay for taking on the role of Falls Ranch Protector…
Sam
I hated working for my cousin. I loved her sure, but I had an education, more than one degree, and at almost thirty I should be using them for something more.
But when family needs you, your wants and dreams take the back burner.
I didn’t mean to want my sexy protector, but every time he came near me something inside me flared.
He was too much. Too handsome, too intelligent, too strong, and too stubborn.
I would go to Falls Ranch. I would play the part Chandra needed me to play, but when this job was over, that’s when I would leave it all behind. Start my real career, and my real life.
The only problem? Would I be able to walk away with my heart intact?

Sam wants to follow her dreams, but family comes first. Carlos wants to work on his ranch and retire. Two very strong willed people who clash, repeatedly, with entertaining results. Jillian Riley has written a wonderful story that I enjoyed very much. I look forward to reading what she comes up with next.
This was an emotional read and not what I’ve been reading from this author.
Family Responsibilities are strong
Family betrayal even stronger
Attraction at the most unexpected places with the most unexpected person
Finally cutting the apron strings
Finding a new path in life
Sacrifices
Determination
Sexy times
Heated Encounters

I’ve always been a big fan of Jillian’s writing, and this novel certainly doesn’t change that! The flow was perfect, as was the character development and plot. I truly felt like I was there with the characters, living the story with them.

Carlos is about to do his final job as a Private Investigator, he is assigned to be Chandra’s bodyguard.
Chandra is an actress who is being stalked. Easy job, not when he has to deal with Chandra’s PA Samantha, who just happens to be her cousin also. Well these two clash, Samantha hates Carlos, to say they don’t get on is an understatement. But as the saying goes ‘Love and Hate’ are kindred spirits. Will these two ever get on? If they do, will they ever find their HEA?
Kissing the protector is the first book in the series that I read. I do like the main characters, I think that they sizzled and the banter that went back and forth was cute. I also like that Jillian Riley touched on real life with Chandra’s mom. It was a great read, the storyline flowed and I loved the suspense.

Kissing the Protector by Jillian Riley
I gave this book 5
I really love this author, her stories always have a good balance in-between mystery, emotion and, steam. This story was about Carlos and Samantha.
***“Who are you?”“ she asked….. the intensity of his stare relaxed almost instantly. He stuck out his hand, offering a truce. “Carlos DeMott, I’m meeting with Chandra and Evan Bennett. I’m taking the bodyguard job. And you are?” His admission should’ve caused her to relax, but Sam’s body hummed. Adrenaline coursed through her. She had been ready to fight this man just seconds before at his own suggestion, and now? She had no idea what to do with him. He came into her cousin’s home, aggressive and demanding. It’s just a physical response to the brief amount of fear he caused, she thought, nothing more. Her psychological training kicking in, she took three deep breaths, calming herself down. “Samantha Farley,” she said, not taking his hand in return. Now that her heart rate was slowing, she was no longer afraid, but angry, livid if she were being honest.***
This was a perfect length book, with well developed characters. It had mystery, steamy chemistry, witty, horse therapy ranch, lots of love, and a HEA for the couple.
There was a serious subject that Mrs. Riley brought into this story, that I give her kudo’s for bringing it to light *Dementia* and how it effects their lives forever.
I unfortunately understand it to well, what it does to the people who have this cruel disease, and the families especially the caregivers, because my father-in-law has it, it’s really hard. God bless them
This was a great and well balanced book. I loved the characters and the story line was interesting. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

I loved this exciting, suspenseful story. It has lots of action and suspense. I loved the chemistry between Sam and Carlos. Chandra is an all around wonderful character I loved her exuberance.

Frankly I am so late reviewing this one because I felt bad. I started to read this book Feb 7, six days before it was released and I just couldn’t get through it. I read probably 40 of the 110 pages before I gave up. Now I love Jillian Riley stories and I was excited to see she was going to be writing more books about things in Falls Ranch but something about how this one was written or maybe it was my lack of connection with Carlos, I dont know but I just couldn’t even force myself to finish it. So while I am sure many others will love it all I can say this one just did not work for me at all. I look forward to the next one and hope this was just a one off for me with this author.

Another great romance Full of romance and passion with memorable characters and twists romance readers will love
What a book! Part thriller, part romance story, with definite heat. Carlos is a man trying to find the truth, but while he is looking, he finds the truth about love with Samantha! This book grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the very satisfying ending.

Second book in the series. I loved it and I recommend it.
Carlos wants to quit his job and dedicate himself to his ranch, a future animal therapy center. But Evan, his boss and friend, convinces him to accept one last job that will help him fulfill his dream.
Sam can’t fight for her dreams. She needs the job her cousin has offered her to take care of her mother. She doesn’t like to leave her while she’s away with Chandra, but her cousin needs her.
I love both of them, and they also make me desperate. They are a lot alike. They are both very quick to judge people, to value their first impressions. But they both recognize when they are wrong. And they soon discover that they are more alike than they thought. Both would do anything for their family, both suffer by helping a family member. They win over each other with their character.
I love Chandra. It wouldn’t be strange if she was a girl who only thinks about herself, but that’s not the case. She can help Sam, and that’s what she’s doing. I wouldn’t be surprised to know that she would have given her money to take care of her mother, without expecting anything in return. They are family, and her aunt was a mother to her. And she likes Carlos’ future project. That’s why she also wants to help him, and she should also know that he will refuse her help, that he won’t want charity, like her cousin.
I enjoyed this book in its entirety! It is a well written, action packed, suspense-filled, witty, funny, and captivating fast pace read. The plot is well developed, fresh, and flows smoothly. Amazing characters; the chemistry between them is potent and undeniable. This story grabs your attention from the start and keeps it until the end … you will find yourself completely engrossed in the interesting storyline. Definitely recommended.

Kiss the Protector was a sweet, heart-warming story. Carlos plans to complete one more PI job before he settles down on his new ranch. The job is protecting a spoiled start Chandra. But, Chandra’s new PA (also her cousin) Samantha knocks him for a loop!!!
While much of the plot in the story was predictable and there were no surprises, Jillian Riley does a wonderful job of storytelling!!! I was pretty much hooked from page one and, even though the outcome was easy to see, I was compelled to finish the story!! I thoroughly enjoyed this tale and fabulous writing!!!

Carlos is hired to be a bodyguard for Chandra and really doesn’t want to be around the spoiled celebrity. Sam is her cousin and sparks fly between them when they first meet. Carlos relocates everyone to keep them safe however someone leaves another note only this time its to Sam. Carlos takes everyone to his ranch and him and Sam grow close as they try to figure out who the threat is. As they involve more people with their security it takes no time to discover who the threat is. Will they be about to get to the person sending the letters before someone gets hurt?
This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is the 1st book I’ve read written Jillian Riley; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I loved this book so much. It was also great to see the characters from KIssing the Counsel, which was also a 5 star review for me. In this story we get to know Carlos and Samantha (Sam), along with her cousin Chandra. There was intrigue, mystery, and yes, romance. I love Ms. Riley’s writing and I highly recommend this book.
Engaging Mystery/Romance!
The delightful story of Carlos and Samantha’s unexpected romance is a real page turner. The characters are warm, funny, strong and totally believable. Great well developed storyline with strong sense of family ties mixed with danger, suspense, and some steamy romance. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
I loved this book. It was a delightful read! The way the main characters were written was fun. I liked how the characters were not how you might have thought they were in the beginning. It also kept you slightly on edge wondering who it was until about 3/4 of the way through the book, but still a fun read. I don’t want to give to much away just read it!
I recieved this book as an ARC and am giving my honest opinion.
Carlos and Samantha’s romance is well written and a story I enjoyed from the first page. Carlos has one last P.I. job to do then he can retire and live on the ranch he has. His last job is looking after and keeping Chandra a very spoiled actress and her cousin Samantha who is her PA safe. This is Carlos and Samantha’s story.
