Angel is at home getting comfortable when someone pounds on her door. It;s her friend Sarah with a baby. She tells Angel her Jack is dead and she needs her help with the baby. She has papers all filled out to give the baby to Angel. Angel of course is stunned but finally agrees. Years later Angel is back home where she has a job at the local diner. There a man she once turned down asks her out. She agrees. Unfortunately unknown to her, he;s there looking for info on Sarah and the baby. But Angel is wary and keeping everything close to her chest. Her cherished baby Nickie may be in danger. Sarah gave him to her for a reason and she wouldn;t let anything get in the way of that gift.
Fantastic story with elements of sadness. It will drawn you in and keep you wrapped into the story as you journey towards the final destination.

Well written. I really enjoyed this book about two very different people, a waitress and a lawyer and one charming little boy. I was given an advanced reader copy and this is my voluntary review.
I loved how Evan, a hometown boy made good as a rich lawyer and Angel, the woman he loved since high school come together after years apart.
Jack and Sarah had a son nicky before each died, Sarah wanted angel to be her sons mother while she left town, had birth certificate made showing angel as his mother. Then after 5 years of no communication from Sarah, nicky’s grandfather Victor finds out he has a grandson and wants evan to find him.
The storyline is smooth and easy to keep up with. To find out if Evan and Angel can have their HEA and Victor will let Angel stay as Nicky’s mother, will have to read.

Lovely second chance romance with likeable characters and an interesting story. Good read!
This is the story of a mother’s love and what she would do for the well-being and safety of her child, even though it’s not her biological child. This is also the story of second chance love and portrayes a hero who will do anything to show his commitment to the relationship. The storyline could’ve been a bit more intriguing but all in all a good read.

This book was gripping, well written & the chemistry between the characters sizzled throughout this wonderful read.
Well done Jillian. I look forward to more!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I loved this book so much. So many feelings for both Evan and Angel. They are both trying very hard to keep promises for other individuals. As much as they start to have feelings for each other, Angel is afraid that her secret will be revealed. This is a very interesting storyline and I highly recommend it.
This is a new author to me. But I truly enjoyed her characters. Will these two find a second chance. Or will preconceived notions keep them apart.Well written and enjoyed
Captivating entertaining second chance romance story. Amazing engaging characters. A well-written book, I enjoyed reading. It was a pleasure to review.
ARC was given to me by author. My review is given completely volunterly, and all thoughts, comments in this review are mine alone.
Kissing the Counsel by Jillian Riley. Book 1 of “The Second Chance Romance” series.
I gave this book 5 stars, it’s a great, quick read. I love Jillian Riley, she always puts so much substances into her books. They’re not big books, but they carry a punch to them.
There is always an emotional rollercoaster ride with her novels.
This one didn’t disappoint me either . Wowzer (as Mel says) Angel became an instant mother of Nickie when her highschool best friend Sarah just showed up out of the blue one day, with a six month old baby, and asked her to take great care of him- that she would be a better mom then she could ever be, and just left him!
Now fastforward 5 years Evan is called to help with a case back in the town where he was born and went to school with Angel, Sarah and Jack ( the babies dad and his highschool best friend) he is an all mighty hot lawyer now in the big city.
Evan always had a thing for Angel in highschool, but she never really gave him the time of day back then.
The case is about Nickie, and his biological family….. it all gets a bit tangled, emotional, and hot in-between Evan and Angel now that they are both back in the small town where it all began.
This was a great book, loved it! Loved the secondary characters. There is a HEA, no cliffhanger. Can’t wait for Megan and Carlos story!!!
Lastly I hope that one day we can give better HELP and support to those that suffer with substance abuse, then we do right now – They are human too
Loved this story, and the plot flowed. Read the story in one sitting!
Received this ARC and am leaving an honest review.
This is an emotional, second chance romance between lawyer Evan and waitress Angel. These two flawed characters and the unconventional plot make for an intriguing read. Once they reconnect, it is a journey of self-discovery as Evan and Angel work through their issues and overcome the challenges that face their relationship. It is a well written story with sexual tension and chemistry, suspense and drama, and engaging secondary characters. Overall, it has the perfect amount of everything – sex, intrigue, and a happy ending.

Angel is surprised when her friend shows up with a baby and asks for her help. Her friend wants her to take Nicholas and keep it a secret about where he came from. Angel does as her friend asks even though she has some questions about what’s going on. Evan is back in town to help Vincent locate his grandchild. However when he runs into Angel at a diner all he can think about is her. When he learns about the Nicholas will he turn the child over to Vincent or help Angel figure out what’s going on?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I thought it was an okay read. Evan is a successful lawyer, he came back to his hometown to find his mentor’s grandson. Angel is a single mother barely keeping her head out of water and working in the diner and keeping a big secret. I would have loved to see the characters in a deeper story line.
This book was sensational and very entertaining. Sexy and beautifully written. I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. Action packed and absolutely yummy. I have read a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
(Review with spoilers)
Nice romance. I loved it.
Five years ago, Angel’s life changed when she took care of her friend’s son and raised him as her own. Now, a man from her past is looking for the child to return him to his rightful family.
I love Angel. Her son is her life and she would give everything for him. She doesn’t want to be attracted to Evan. She thinks he’s still the same kid from highschool, and she doesn’t want anything to do with him, especially when she knows why he’s back. But as they spend time together, she realizes that she has made a mistake. He isn’t like she thought. And she wants him in their lives.
When they were in high school, Evan was in love with Angel, but she rejected him. Now that they have seen each other again, his feelings have surfaced. But he doesn’t feel the same way. He didn’t know her before. Now he does, and he wants to be a part of their lives.
I love him because he is tender, romantic. He is tormented by his past, by abandoning his friend, and wants to redeem himself by finding his son. But he cannot separate him from Angel, who has given everything for him.
I love their families.
I recommend it.
Angel and Evan knew each other in high school but hung out with different crowds. Fast forward a few years and Angels is taking care of her best friends child (she died). Her only request was that she keep the child away from the father Jack. She ends up going home and Now Evan is a hot shot lawyer. He has also been tasked with finding Jack’s kid. The come across each other and there are some sparks. This is one of those books you devour then are sad when it’s done! It grabbed me from the start and I did not want to put it down!
Not just a other secret baby story. Strong characters with an even stronger story plot. Evan has the ability to tear Angel’s life apart. She needs to guard her secret at all cost. There’s just one problem, she can’t t resist the chemistry between Evan and herself. Evan has secrets of his own. This one will pull at your heartstrings. You won’t be disappointed.

I am a little torn on this one. While it is a very sweet love story about a man, Evan, who has loved a woman, Angel, since they were kids, but Angel never saw the real him until now. The catalyst that pushes them back together after all of these years is what had me lacking empathy and connection with Angel. The whole story of Angel’s son Nickie, left me scratching my head more than once. The lying, deceit and subterfuge by Jack and Sarah that Angel carried on well after they were not around was confusing at best and disappointing at worst. How does a drug addict have the money to erase the birth of her son? What was so bad about Vincent? Angel seemed so stuck on her preconceived notions about rich people without ever really knowing one personally. I can’t even say her opinion was based on Jack’s actions. She just seemed to think they are all evil and mean and out to get people that don’t have tons of money. She blanketed this opinion on to anyone that had money or strived to make something of themselves, Evan being one of them. Evan himself was hard to understand and develop a connection to because in the beginning he was depicted as being just as Angel perceived, an entitled rich man. But that was not really the character at all. He completely lost the “gloss” of being a rich man as soon as he decided to ask Angel on a date again. I don’t know. For me something was missing from this book. While I could appreciate Angel’s fears of losing Nickie and I was pleased that they all got their HEA, I did not find the path to that HEA all that entertaining and this kept me from fully engaging and investing in the characters and their outcome.
