A Gorgeously Commanding & Sexy Story… What better way to kick off December than with a bit of good old fashioned filth. And not just any old filth, oh no, but some slightly bratty, revenge tainted, commanding alpha filled, hot as sin filth written by the taboo queen herself, Penny Wylder.
“Kissing my Dad’s Friend” is the story of Maggie, a twenty-three year old nurse, and Russ a forty-something surgeon. Both of whom work under the controlling, unethical thumb of Maggie’s father in their family owned private hospital. She’s yearning to help those who need it most but is trapped attending to only the richest elite; he’s hiding behind his prominent surgeon’s mask, keeping his real self hidden away. And after she endures a particularly offensive, unethical directive from her father, takes control of her life in the only way she feels she can, by flirting with the man she’s harbored a crush for since highschool. Her father’s friend, Russ, not yet knowing he hides desire for her as well.
And almost from the start it is magnetic, albeit far too short. Right from the first page we are thrust at breakneck speed into an atmosphere of angst, anger, and revenge tainted choices leading into unknowning mutual longing, and a mountain of lava infused, panty melting, dominating alpha heat. I will honestly never think of the phrase “little one” (something I’ve personally used a million times) in the same innocent way ever again!
The chemistry between these two was so compelling I could have easily read another thirty chapters about them. I would have especially enjoyed an extra chapter or two expanding the aftermath of the final explosion with John. As well as, a slower, more expanded view of the year after leading to the ending. And, most importantly, the entire book is written only from Maggie’s perspective, and by the end I desperately longed to have a few chapters from Russ’s point of view. I would have happily paid triple the book price to have that pov back-and-forth presence demonstrated on the page.
However, regardless of my personal need for literary gaps to be filled, it is a gorgeously sexy story overall. And, I’ll happily take a Penny Wylder story any day I need a daydream break. As she always provides a yummy, and enjoyably filthy way to pass a couple of hours.
OH MY DEAR GOD, I NEED A RUSS IN MY LIFE, NOW! STAT! THAT’S AN ORDER!
I haven’t had a book hangover or even worse, a book boyfriend hangover, like this in a long, long time! I’m gushing about this book to absolutely everyone, it’s just SO GOOD. True contender for one of the best books I’ll read in 2020!
Okay, so we meet Maggie, a nurse, who’s under the thumb of her controlling father who is the head of a local private hospital. Her Dad is the definition of jerk – he’s obviously lost himself along the way, wanting status and power to define him not helping others or most importantly, letting his daughter live her own life. Maggie finds strength in her Dad’s best friend Russ, who has more than noticed she’s all grown up. He admires her passion and determination for helping others, no matter their status, and that’s something he strives for in his life as well. Maggie wants nothing more than to get under her Dad’s skin and making out with Russ in the “locked” emergency exit stairwell could really start that off. After really getting to know Russ and seeing a side to him she never knew existed, she knows their stolen moments at work are more than just a fling. When Maggie and Russ finally go toe-to-toe with her father, he banishes them from the hospital … the next morning, when Maggie goes home to get new scrubs … she doesn’t realized her and Russ are being watched from the doorway …
A fun, pretty quick read, that I legit couldn’t stop thinking about. Russ, is just, everything … like anything you’d ever want a man to be, that’s Russ. He’s kind, passionate (not just in the bedroom), and really wants the best for the world and of course, Maggie. I can honestly say Russ will go on my top 10 list of favorite book boyfriends of all time. Maggie is a super strong independent girl who has this horribly controlling father. She’s written really well and just one of those characters you can really relate to as well.
Great writing by Penny Wylder in this amusing, smart, sexy story! This story is so engaging, so steamy, I couldn’t put it down. I loved Maggie and Russ and I loved his refusal to give in when Maggie tries to put the brakes on. He wants Maggie and he isn’t going to stop until he has her right where he wants her. This is one of my favorite stories by this author. I loved it.
