Harper Lowry has nine published novels and now suffers from writer’s block. Harper agrees to travel to Mudville with her mother thinking they are going there to hear the reading of Great Aunt Agnes’ will, but Great Aunt Agnes didn’t pass away. Great Aunt Agnes was hurt while overseas and needs a house sitter for her home in Mudville, and Harper jumps at the chance hoping a change of scenery will unlock her writer’s block. Sparks fly when Harper and Stone meet. Harper thinks Stone is extremely handsome but grumpy. Stone thinks Harper is gorgeous but a city girl. The chemistry between Harper and Stone is HOT! Harper and Stone are continually drawn to each other. Is this just a holiday fling, or can Harper and Stone find their happily ever after? I really enjoyed Kissing Books by Cat Johnson. Kissing Books is a really good book with great characters that will make the reader laugh out loud. Kissing Books has humor, mystery, love, heartache, and a happily ever after. I would recommend getting Kissing Books by Cat Johnson.

I truly love small town romance stories. When they have the perfect blend of romance, emotion, a bit of humor and sweetness, they are a great story. This was a quirky, fun and enjoyable to read and the chemistry between the characters was a bit steamy.

Who can resist the sexy farmer and a pet pig named Petunia?
Kissing Books is the first book I have read by Cat Johnson so I was not sure what to expect, as you just never know when you try a “new to you” author. But the book description looked interesting and like it might be more than a little funny and witty. Actually I sort of pictured an I Love Lucy episode when I was reading it. So I had some high hopes as I swiped it open on my Kindle and started in on it. Boy was I ever not disappointed. The story of Harper and Stone was funny, had a really good story-line, great characters, both the main and supporting, and was well written and edited.
BTW – who can resist a pet pig named Petunia……………I mean really!!!
If the author is able to continue this quality for the next books in the Mudville series then I am going to be waiting with bated breath. I just hope I don’t pass out before they get here.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Wow, what an enjoyable, humorous and entertaining read, as well as wonderful and realistic characters. When Harper volunteers to house sit her 70ish Great Aunts home while she’s in Europe recovering from a broken leg while skiing, little did she know the cocky, sexy, handsome farmer who dislikes “city folk” would turn her world upside down and vice versa. I Loved all the secondary characters as well and look forward to Stone’s brothers getting their own stories.

Its been a while since I’ve read a book by Cat Johnson, and I’d forgotten how much I enjoy her books!! This book is a light-hearted comedy, that had me captivated from the beginning!
Harper has writers block and when her mother calls in a panic, Harper steps in to help. She thought she was going to a reading of a will for her Aunt, but alas, the Aunt isn’t dead at all. Little did she know that this journey would turn into life changing.
Oh my, the comedy in this book…….it just flows flawlessly!! Loved it so much! Stone and Harper together, were quite the pair!! Gotta send out a little love for Aunt Agnes, she was equally entertaining!!
A farmer with a bit of an attitude and a woman way out of her element. This book will bring you belly laughs and adds in steam and characters who are perfect for one another. Do not miss out on this totally amazing book!

I enjoyed Harper and Stone’s story. I liked that it started with a temporary house sitting for Harper and ended up as a great story with a happy ending. I will be reading more by this author.

Harper a romance author house sitting for her great aunt whose out of the country. Stone the oldest son of a local cattle and corn farm. Harper with writers block needs inspiration and agrees to house sit. Stone, I tried to tell Harper it is her handyman when it comes to helping fix things and complete activities around the house. Things go awry when there’s a break in the house and a mystery begins. Trying to keep their hands off each other as this mystery starts unfold is funny with a lot of humor and unexpected places. HEA Is underway as the mystery is solved and the chickens are fed along with the cats and the mascot pig. But other than that it’s just a nice normal day out and little Mudville.

Oh my holy water. What can I say? Not nearly enough about this book, that’s for sure. I absolutely think Harper is my spirit animal. I love Stone, I mean Alpha Male much, but Harper holds my heart. I want to be Harper when I grow up and I want to be Agnes when I age gracefully into my golden years. I love Mudville. I love all the characters. The author has built a perfect little world. Great story line, mystery, suspense, humor, perfect writing, a really fun time.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Stone is a local farmer along with his family. Harper is visiting and he thinks she is from the city. He doesn’t like city folk because they seem privileged. When Harper decides to stay for awhile he finds that she is very beautiful woman who he wants to get to know. When Harper meets Stone she thinks he is rude. But when she decides to stay in town at her aunts place she is thinking about all the things she could get him to fix and possibly get to know him more itimately.
Pretty sure i was laughing through this entire book. Stone and his brothers were my favorite part. Then Stone with Harper. Honestly, my cheeks hurt from smiling. I feel in love with the small town of Mudville. I wish it was real. i can not wait for the next two books in the series.
I highly recommend.
Happy reading!

Welcome to Mudville….
By the end of chapter 2 I knew what type of read this was going to be. One that had me laughing out loud through out. I think the biggest laugh came from the visual of Harper sitting with her laptop feeding the “Girls”. Loved it!! Can’t wait to return to this unique town for Red’s story.

This was such a fun book to read, liked the city girl aspect that blows away the farm boy from so many angles. Love how the author created such an inquisitive community that does support one another but trying to keep from progress encroaching upon their town. Good twist to keep the momentum of the story going to finish up the ending.

Spicy, funny and almost too cute for words. I laughed long and hard, and I begrudged every interruption to my reading time. This is about to become a cherished favorite story that I will be re-reading over and over again in the future. I had so much fun reading about Harper, Stone and all the zany residents of Mudville. I can’t wait to go back and do it all again once there are more books available in the series.

Small town romance has always had a huge appeal; maybe it’s because I’m a city girl born and bred and long for the peace and solitude of the wide-open spaces. So, a story like Kissing Books was right up my alley. Mudville is charming, with its quirky and loveable population, and Harper and Stone are an engaging and likeable couple. Everything about this book reels the reader in from the very beginning. Hilarious laugh out loud moments, combustible chemistry, and the intense and emotional phases; this book has it all! I was completely captivated by this wonderful story and can’t wait to read more in this series.
Harper Lowry felt like a loser – writer’s block! Nine novels published and now nothing! She had lots of words running through her brain – but none of them appropriate to put on the page in front of her. She was going to miss her deadline! Her mother called at this crisis point and decided that since she was home, therefore “not busy”, she could drive upstate to Mudville with her for the reading of Great Aunt Agnes’ will – a 6 hour round trip… with her mother! And what a joy – Great Aunt Agnes wasn’t dead! That’s what happens when you “presume” why a lawyer could call. It seems that Great Aunt Agnes was travelling in Europe, broke her leg skiing in the Alps, and needs a house-sitter for another month, according to the doctor she was living with. Harper immediately volunteered for the job, hoping to find some inspiration to write! And she quickly falls in love with the quirky town!
The characters of Mudville are amazing and will keep you laughing. Stone and Harper are immediately attracted to each but neither expresses what they are feeling. He’s a gorgeous farmer with a kind heart — but grouchy — while she’s a city girl not ready for the different pace of Mudville. Their chemistry sizzles, spiced up equally by their flirty attraction and their frequent clashes. By the time her great aunt returns home, what will Harper decide to do? Will she move to Mudville and become a resident of the town she has grown to love? Or will she return to her life as it was before? And how does she feel about Stone?
This book is charming, with amazing characters (and animals), a well-paced story line, and plenty of humor – my favorite combination. The book is really fun – you won’t want to miss it!
Harper is a romance author. She goes to a little town called Mudville for the day with her mother , and ends up looking after her great aunt Agnes’s house. There she meets the gorgeous Stone but their first meeting isn’t the best. In the attic of the big old house, she finds about one hundred journals written by a friend of Agnes called Rose. These journals give Harper plenty of ideas for her books. What a wonderful story and I absolutely loved it.
Harper has a bad case of writers block, and a chance to change her surroundings to babysit a house might just be what she needs. Stone is tired if the City Folk that is buying up parts of his town and changing life in his small town. Banned books, late night intruder, possible chicken disaster, and the hometown mascot hog, Harpers got more then enonough fodder for thousands of stories along with the hot corn farmer what more could she want. Love the town and characters, I giggled and huddled under the covers when worried a very well written book. Cant wait for more.
