Young woman baby sits great aunt’s house in small town. Falls in love with a farmer. They have a problem communicating their feelings .
All works out well. Too much explicite sex.
Harper & Stone clash – um, meet – when she moves into his town to take care of a house & to settle down to do some writing.
The journal entries at the end of each chapter add nothing to the story, really.
Despite this, it was a cute book about a small town romance.
Some portions are laugh out loud funny. Yes, there are sex scenes; no they are not super detailed graphic; yes, you can scan past them. They don’t start till the middle. The romance is simple and strung out longer than needs be. That made the book drag just a little bit. But, all in all a really enjoyable read. Oh, and I am 72 so there were some dates that did not match my own experienced history.
Interesting story and characters. I just didn’t connect with the writing.
This one is the best of the first 2 I haven’t read the rest of the series yet but of the 2 the first is my favourite, not that there’s anything wrong with 2 just my personal opinion
Loved this book- sucked me right into the world. Loved the characters- and some are really characters! And then I bought the whole series! You probably should too!
If you are looking for a good book full of lots of laughs and a good old fashioned romance then this is a good book.
Loved it! A bit quirky and very entertaining.
I’m kinda torn over this one. I really liked Harper and Stone and while their story is entertaining it’s missing a real “wow” factor. To be sure, the town of Mudville is as quirky and filled with typical small-town nosy neighbors as you’d expect it to be. The town and its residents are adorable. The Morgan brothers are true rom-com gold. There is a lot going for this book. There is also a lot that is just so-so. It’s entertaining and interesting. It just isn’t a 4-star read like I was hoping.
A fun read as two people find each other. I do wish the author would learn to use grammar check before publishing.
Wow, what a great start to this new series! Stone and Harper are quite the couple! The grumpy farmer and the writer stuck for words! The eccentric world traveling aunt and a town full of crazy characters! What a fun book to read, it was sweet, sexy, steamy and laugh out loud funny! I will be moving on to book two immediately! Check out this series today!
A fun read with likeable characters.
This book was really fun to read. I love the part where the local library banned romantic books and how she reacted to that fact since she wrote romances for a living. It was a cute read.
This is a sweet small-town story full of colorful characters and a pig. I liked the mystery in the attic and the way it all came together. I want to read more about these small-town folks.
What we have here is a failure to communicate
Kissing Books: An Opposites Attract Romantic Comedy (Small Town Secrets Book 1) by Cat Johnson is a very well written romantic comedy full of small town wonder! Mudville is a hoot and so is Aunt Agnes. What makes this book truly fantastic is Harper and Stone. Harper is feisty, independent, beautiful, hardworking, creative, smart and sweet while Stone is set in his ways, as wary as he is handsome, smart, hardworking, handy, protective and full of testosterone. These two are opposites in some ways, yet fit together so well in a plethora of other ones. Most notably of the steamy (risky at times) variety!
This book is so very interesting, beyond Harper and Stone. Mudville is a panoply of “plot bunnies” on top of discovered diaries. There’s always something going on, revealed or stumbled upon for Harper especially.
Overall, despite allowing themselves to remain miserable rather than communicate, Harper and Stone do have a HEA in store and not a moment too soon. Absolutely loved this book and ready to read Book 2.
This was actually one of my favorite Cat Johnson books (so far). I especially liked the diary excerpts with a touch of history. The characters are interesting and I hope this is part of a series because I’d like to explore more of the characters. Hot farmers are as interesting as hot SEALs.
I listened to the Audible version. The narration was fabulous. I wasn’t familiar with Ann Russek or Craig A Hart, but they were both great. I always appreciate dual narrators for dual POV.
Not sure what took me so long to get this one read! I loved it! There are many characters who add so much to this story. But the two main ones? They are the cream of the crop. Harper is feisty and refuses to go belly up to the townsfolk. She fights against whatever she disagrees with. Then she needs to keep control of all of her Aunts animals. Ha ha! Those chickens, cats and the pig named Petunia.
This town is so adorable! I wish I could visit. I mean I would love to see those Morgan boys but everything seems to be quirky. Actually I can’t wait for the next books because I really enjoyed so much. I did listen to this on audio. The narrators did a great job.
Loved the pick of this book, he gets stars just because of that…ok ok in all seriousness the book was cute. I enjoy small town romances, well some of them sometime I think the people are to nosy but sometimes Iike them because you feel closer to the main character, hey I didn’t say we would all understand that.. I liked but felt something was missing..grab a copy and see how you feel about it and send me a message..
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved it! great characters and story lines. Can’t wait for more…
A fun sexy, laugh out loud, action packed and engaging romantic journey filled with exciting charters, witty banter and undeniable passion .. was a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon. Highly entertaining reading!
