I met Marcus at a crematorium. That should have been my first clue to keep away. He was nothing I wanted. Yet, everything I needed. He was dark, dangerous. And I couldn’t stay away. Even when I wanted to. We made a deal—just our bodies. But lines got blurred. I asked for more than one night – I ended up asking for forever. What a mistake that was. What a mistake he was. Sometimes love burns. And … mistake that was.
What a mistake he was.
Sometimes love burns.
And sometimes kisses and lies are all you get.

so intense emotional mysterious heartsopping twisted broken love story of Marcus and rochelle
Grabbed my heart and squeezed
ready for Blaze
Embrace the darkness. Rochelle is a good girl, but the pain she’s feeling is changing her. She’s ready to take a chance and walk on the dark side. She’s just found the man to take her there.
Rochelle and Marcus meet at a crematorium. He works with the dead. She’s just suffers a great loss. He’s just what she needs to forget the pain.
Marcus sees himself as bad. He doesn’t want to taint the good in Rochelle. He wants her to walk away because he will ruin her. His upbringing has tainted love for him. He holds himself back, but has a darkness within that most would not understand.
They part ways as it’s for the best, but life has other plans. Her friend Tanika brings her to a party with a local biker MC and the man she hasn’t forgotten is there. This time, he’s not walking away.
Both tried to resist. Now it’s time to let the chemistry consume them. Their heat is undeniable. Marcus makes his desire known and now he’s not going to hold back. However, he doesn’t do feelings. They will indulge in the purely physical.
Marcus thinks he cannot love and doesn’t deserve love. Rochelle can’t help falling. She’s getting lost in Marcus and the only way to save herself may just be to break her own heart. Losing everything is sometimes the only way to move forward.
I fell in love with Marcus’ darkness. The broken little boy who protected his younger brother. The grown man who loved even when he thought he didn’t know how. Rochelle was strong. She was a fighter even when she felt she had nothing left. She was loving but not willing to sacrifice who she was or her heart’s desire just to be with someone. She wanted it all. Good thing she found a man who was willing to give her anything because not loving her wasn’t an option. This story has it’s dark moments, but it’s interlaced with emotion and soul crushing love.
Hmmm and here I thought I am over crazy Dead from Disbelief but no, Marcus has to come over and take my breath away with his coolness and silence.
Another great dark romance in true TL Smith style.
Hell, where do I start? Well, I didn’t know what to expect going into this. It’s a new author for me. I have been wanting to check out and have finally done so and I am kicking myself for waiting this long! This was everything I love about romance. It held so much.
Rochelle is a good girl. It’s all she has ever been but things in her life have changed and those things have bought her pain, the pain she would rather forget.
Marcus works with dead people, and when Rochelle suffers a great loss she meets him at a crematorium and he turns out to be the very thing she needs to help her forget the pain that eating her up inside. But Marcus knows he’s bad and he knows he’s bad for her and doesn’t want to bring the darkness into her world. He’s doesn’t want to taint something so good and perfect. He’s had an awful upbringing, and darkness consumes him and surrounds him, it’s the sort of thing no one would really understand. He pulls away from her, sparing that darkness that surrounds him, so they part ways. Thinking they’ll never see each other again. Rochelle hasn’t forgotten him though, it’s not that easy and with a twist, her friend invites her to a local MC biker party and guess who just so happens to be there? Marcus. The thing is, this time he’s not pulling away. He wants this girl and there is no way he’s going to let her go again.
After trying to resist each other they both give in to the desire and it takes over both of them. The chemistry, the heat, and connection are intense, to say the least, it’s all-consuming and they can’t get enough of each other but Marcus is still holding back, he doesn’t do the love/feelings kind of thing, so what they have is sex… HOT sex. Marcus doesn’t believe in love and doesn’t believe he’ll be good enough for Rochelle and he doesn’t deserve it. Rochelle falls head over heels for him fast but she knows this will not amount to anything so the only way she may be able to get out of this is to break her own heart and walk away from him.
This was an amazing read. There was so much to Marcus’s personality and his story. His past is heartbreaking and he lets it consume him as an adult which is even more heartbreaking. Rochelle is perfect for him, she’s the light that brightness his darkness. She’s strong and fights hard even when she feels like there is nothing left to fight for but she won’t change who she is for anyone and I think that’s what I loved most about her. But will he realize that he is worthy of love? He says he doesn’t love but everything he feels for this woman IS LOVE. Will he open his eyes and his heart before it’s too late and he losing her forever?
This book consumed me from the beginning. I was completely fixated and addicted to the storyline and to find out what was happening with these two, I devoured it. This story held emotion and darkness, and pain, but woven into that was an epic love story that took hold of my heart from the very beginning. I was completely spellbound with these two!
This is nothing less than a 5 Star read for me!
These characters really stuck with me. I heart them so much
4.5 stars
More! More, I want MORE!
In typical TL Smith style this book will grab you, twist your heard, spin your mind and will let you fall down the rabbit hole.
Kisses And Lies is another spellbinding story that will have you addicted in no time!
Kisses and Lies is a dark and decadent story by T. L. Smith. I have no words to describe the impact reading this had on me. I became punch drunk and never want to let go of the feeling. The characters were complex, cantankerous and bewitching. This story is not for the faint hearted. It is a story for the lover of recklessly handsome rakes and their ladies. Reading Kisses and Lies reminds me of why I fell in love with words and romance novels. A wild and tumultuous tale that will curl your toes and blow your mind. I just cannot get enough of these stories and T. L. Smith is a master at writing just what i crave. 5 stars.
Kisses and Lies by T.L. Smith is a cautionary tale of a young lady who at her lowest point meets a handsome stranger. She is instantly smitten however the handsome stranger warns her. I will ruin you he says. I have read several books by this author and this book was definitely a departure from how her other books affected me. Rochelle is having a really bad day. She is at the crematorium to put her grandparents to rest when she sees Marcus. He is not her typical choice when it comes to boyfriends but there is something about him that has caught her eye. Thier story is a journey where Marcus took Rochelle on many ups and downs and ran hot and cold. Rochelle was a mess. There was more to this story than what those two went through. Enjoyable. Suspenseful! Heartbreak. Lots of sex . 4 stars for me.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Welcome to another dark and delicious book from T.L. Smith. This is the story or Marcus and Rochelle. They have everything in the world working against them from the very beginning. However, they have this huge pull to each other. Rochelle is a character that has not had an easy life and has had blow after blow after blow thrown at her. Marcus is one dark and delicious character. In fact he is so dark that he doesn’t want Rochelle to be around him and his darkness. It is so much fun reading this story and seeing how it goes. This is a book that you do not want to miss. I loved it and will read it again and again I am sure
I’ve read quite a few of T.L Smith’s books and I’ve come to know what to expect when I dive into one but I’m always left surprised and not at all ready for what I’m about to read.
Kisses and Lies was no different.
I was intrigued from the start of the blurb, hooked by the end of the first chapter and stuck until the end.
Marcus and Rochelle have an intense, possessive, jealous relationship. When it was hot, it was HOT and when it wasn’t, it was fiery. A back and forth chase, from want and need to pushing the other away but the heart wants what it wants, whether the mind thinks it’s on the same page or not.
Another great read from T.L Smith. I’d love more from this world.
Marcus is a dark, broody and mysterious character who owns a crematorium. Rochelle is broken and struggling through life, and she and Marcus are drawn to each other. No spoilers: this is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written tale which is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout, as well as being an intense and brilliant love story. I was hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
I was hooked from the beginning of the first chapter. I had to know what happened. I devoured this book in a matter of hours. T.L. Smith wrote another fantastic story.
Marcus was a straight up a**hole most of the time, but he was also possessive and protective of Rochelle. He was dangerous, and very alpha. I went in to this expecting to love him, but I could not stand him at first. He grew on me really quick though.
Rochelle was really hurting when she met Marcus and is instantly drawn to him. She is lost and knows that he isnt good for her but keeps going back. I loved Rochelle from the start. She just wanted to feel something, and Marcus gave her that.
I suggest going in to this book blind. Knowing as little as possible about it is the best way to experience it.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants a dark sexy anti-hero
I received an arc of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review
Five delicious stars. Loved Marcus!! Twisted, dark, steamy, beautiful, attention grabbing, page turning goodness.
She was always such a good girl, and then she met him. At the crematorium of all places!
He watched her fall apart outside, and then approached the beauty upon the floor.
Her eyes are sad, and her heart is heavy can the man before her be a distraction if only for a a moment, or two?
First and foremost, this book is dark, and gritty, you need to know that!
No pretty flowers or candlelit moments. Just a cold harsh reality within a brokered deal between two consenting adults.
He’s not the hero, nor the prince of the story. His life is death it’s where his heart is true.
She’s the girl who wanted more time, who’s slowly fading into herself. Love and tenderness might bring her back, but he’s not about that.
Two characters who to save each each, need to change and accept a new future.
I didnt love Marcus, nor Rochelle but I don’t think we are meant to.
Their story isn’t a fairytale and as such you arent meant to swoon and sigh happily over the characters, well that’s my belief anyway.
I must admit I had hoped for something a little different at the end, but it didn’t take my enjoyment away.
I would like to spend more time in this world, and really hope that we get an up close and personal appointment with her sister!
5 Stars
Omg what a read!
Anything from TL Smith is going to hook you and mess with you on the best possible way. This book was everything. I was hooked from the first page and didn’t want it to end as always.
Once again another must read!
This book! The prologue had me so intrigued I couldn’t wait to carry on reading. I don’t think I put this book down once from start to finish.
I went into this expecting to love Marcus from the start. Yeah that wasn’t happening. He’s cold, standoffish and intense. But somehow he really grew on me. I’m a sucker for an Ahole and he definitely lives up to. He screams danger, stay away but that only drew me to him more.
Rochelle was another good character. She’s down and feeling lost, she’s struggling with life. She knows from their first meeting that she needs to walk away but she doesn’t, she keeps going back and for once I understood why. There’s no way I’d walk away from Marcus, you’d have to drag my cold dead body away from him and even then I’d come back and haunt you.
This is another fantastic book by TL smith and one that I think it’s best to go into knowing as little as possible. Just buckle in and enjoy the ride. Also I’m gonna be needing Blazes story ASAP so if you could make that happen Ms Smith I’ll love you forever.
When Rochelle meets Marcus for the first time, her world has been shaken with the loss of her grandparents. She really doesn’t know how to cope with this loss then this sexy stranger enters the picture and she wants to use him as an escape. Marcus carries darkness from his childhood and prefers working with dead people at the crematorium instead of people. Seeing a woman laying down in the courtyard is unexpected but the real sucker punch is his reaction to the beauty. He has perfected the art of keeping people out of his life but he finds himself wanting to be around Rochelle. This is an unlikely pair but at the same time, their differences just may help each other heal. There are several unexpected twists and turns along the way which may prove insurmountable. I was pulled into the drama and wanted to see these broken individuals find the happiness they deserved. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
This book had me on the edge of my seat, every twist and turn was better than the last! I’m going to keep an eye on this author because her writing is amazing!
I was intrigued with this story because of the first line in the blurb: they met in a crematorium. That line really pulled me in and had me excited to read the rest of the story. Another reviewer stated that this story is like Dexter meets Sons of Anarchy and while that it accurate it didn’t have the pull of either of these stories for me. It was a fun ride and I liked the characters, I just wanted a bit less.
he great parts of this story were the characters and how they met, developed their connection (they were intimate but not connected for most of the story) and how the action of their lives played into that growth; the two main characters each had their own issues and neither needed to be in a relationship at the time. I liked how they stayed true to themselves and then eventually each other.
What I didn’t care for as much was the overall plot. I thought there was too much added into the story and as a result not enough details. Some things felt incomplete because too much was going on. The characters really stole the story for me thought so I have no real qualms with the outcome. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review. 3.00 stars.
What a deliciously dark story! Marcus and Rochelle has everything working against them but at the same time gravitated towards each other regardless. Rochelle was harder to connect with at first but she was so tenacious even after all the blows she’d been dealt that I loved her for it. And Marcus was so dark and had so many demons that he didn’t want Rochelle around. I loved the dark, raw grittiness of this story!
