I met Marcus at a crematorium. That should have been my first clue to keep away. He was nothing I wanted. Yet, everything I needed. He was dark, dangerous. And I couldn’t stay away. Even when I wanted to. We made a deal—just our bodies. But lines got blurred. I asked for more than one night – I ended up asking for forever. What a mistake that was. What a mistake he was. Sometimes love burns. And … mistake that was.
What a mistake he was.
Sometimes love burns.
And sometimes kisses and lies are all you get.

I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 3 because it didn’t grab my interest.
His mom allowed her “friends” to burn him and cut him as a child. He saw his mother OD. No wonder he had issues. Left some questions as to was he able to overcome his dark thoughts and actions? But truly a different type of book.
Rochelle is mourning her grandparent’s death when she meets Marcus. She knows she Should stay away from him but she is so drawn to Him. They make a deal to only sleep with each other no falling in love . Marcus doesn’t believe in relationships or love. He had a bad up bringing. Marcus owns the crematorium and is a really dark person Rochelle isn’t sure what to think about that side of him . Will she be able to except both sides of him? Will Marcus realize he’s capable of loving someone before its to late for them. This book draws you in from the beginning and you can’t put it down one min u hate them then the next you love them.
Captivating!! I read this in one sitting because I had to know everything that happened!!! This book takes you through all the feels on an emotional roller coaster and beyond. Marcus and Rochelle are added to my favorite couples list. Their chemistry is off the charts! I need more!
This book was great! It was so much more than I expected! It was dark and delicious!
This is one of those books that holds your heart from beginning to end. It’s a story that drags you so deeply that you forget about the world around you. I loved every single word and every emotion T.L put me through while reading it. If you like dark, intense romance with complicated characters, this book is for you.
This book is a dark romance. It keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole book. It rips out your heart at times and makes you laugh at other times. Marcus and Rochelle are two broken people that meet at a time they are both grieving. These two aren’t good for each other and you can see that as you read the book. Rochelle is like fire to Marcus’ gasoline. There are a lot of triggers so proceed with caution when reading this book.
It is very well written. The way they meet is crazy and frightening at the same time. Their relationship is up and down through the whole book and really didn’t do much for me. This book is for people that like a lot of darkness and uncertainly through the whole book. It took all the way to the end for Marcus to stop playing games with Rochelle’s heart.

If you love dark romance like I do, then this will do the trick. Some very dark themes. Loss, tragedy, self harm, and drugs. Limits are tested as things unfold. Marcus and Rochelle meet in the most unlikely way. The pull is too strong for the hard truths to pull them apart. They need each other more than they’ll ever realize. The back and forth, the sexual chemistry, and the angst meld together into something strangely and utterly addictive.
Wow is all I can say. This story has left me without words for this review. Marcus and Rochelle’s story was drop down drag out emotional, deep, dark, suspenseful, energizing and I couldn’t put this book down. These two meet during a time of grieving for Rochelle and she’s drawn to Marcus and she’s intrigued with him. He’s a magnet and she can’t understand the pull towards him, but wants to know more. Marcus is mysterious, there’s more to him then he shows others. He’s scary, he’s sex on a stick, smoldering hot and when he sees her he’s drawn to her, she’s like no other and he doesn’t understand how she can make him feel for her and not know her.
Their relationship is complicated, twisted and so many factors that show they probably shouldn’t be together, but the heart wants what it wants. People and obstacles try to come between them, the question is do they love each other enough to fight for each other? No spoilers here, I could go on, but I won’t. This story has delved deep into my soul, this is a can’t miss read and I’m so excited for what’s to come from this author. Loved it and I recommend this book.
TL Smith can write – what an amazingly complicated, compelling, tragic and haunting story. There are so many emotions within this story it’s hard to put into words. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even the parts that creeped me out a bit. The story is about Marcus and Rochelle. They are both attracted to each other and both are determined not to fall. Marcus owns the town’s crematorium and has a tragic past that breaks your heart and helps you to understand why he is the way he is. Rochelle is his glass of water while waking through the desert, even though he tries to deny her, he can not. The story is complicated, yet simple. It deserves more than 5 stars. Absolutely recommend.
Wow!!! What a dark, addictive read! I started reading this book on a trip. Before I knew it, we had arrived at our destination, and I had finished the book!!!!
I was intrigued from the very beginning. I thought the way Smith began the book was a stroke of genius. I knew it was going to be different from anything I had read, and she certainly didn’t disappoint me. She far exceeded my expectations!!!!
Everything about the book was unexpected…the storyline, the romance, and the characters. Rochelle and Marcus meet, of all places, at a crematorium. She feels this pull toward him that she can’t explain. He certainly isn’t the type of guy she is normally attracted to. To say opposites attract would be an understatement. She is from a very different world than he is, yet they feel this attraction they can’t explain. Neither of them is expecting a HEA. She is using him to numb the pain of loss she feels. She is his new addiction–she actually stirs something in his cold, unfeeling heart. Somehous, something temporary is moving might just be moving toward something more lasting and real.
The romance is pretty steamy! The chemistry is explosive…like TNT getting ready to explode! Anyone in their path should take caution!!! Even though the relationship starts as something full of lust, feelings start creeping in! Something neither expected or even knew they wanted!
The characters…WOW! Rochelle’s heart is breaking. She has lost several people she loves, but she is a tough cookie. However, those losses have affected her deeply. A little part of her has dying day by day.
“I was breaking when I met him, and I broke even more each day thereafter. Marcus didn’t get the best part of me, and I did nothing to repair that.”
Both characters were complex, but Marcus…there aren’t any words to adequately describe him. He is consumed by darkness, and in any other book and any other author’s hands, he would have just creeped me out. However, in Smith’s hands, she made me fall head over heels with him. In that darkness, Rochelle gives him a little light that just might help him come out of the dark cave he has been in most of his life.
I enjoy a book in which characters grow and change, and these two did grow and change somewhat. I loved the ending of this book…it was the right ending for them. They grew and matured, yet they didn’t change the core of the person they were created to be. These two are the type of characters I want to come back and see. I’m not a huge, huge fan of dark romance, but Smith, who is a new author to me, may just coax me deeper into the dark, anti-hero romance!!!!!
This book was AMAZING. I COULD NOT STOP READING! WOW. From the very beginning I loved Marcus. Rochelle had more demons than he did even though he was presumed to have more. So much bad things happened to her. I waz so angry at Marcus 50% of the time then wanting to lick him the rest. So so good and I CANNOT WAIT FOR KAT AND BLAZE! He is so angry, its going to be angsty and hot. Hurry up and write this TL Smith because I am waiting on pins and needles!!!!!!
Kisses and Lies Arc Review
This is my first read by T.L. Smith and I can’t wait to read more. This book was all kinds of crazy and I couldn’t decide on if I loved Marcus or hated him half the time. The name of the book and the blurb called to me and once I started reading I couldn’t stop. All the characters were interesting and I hope some of the other ones will have there own stories too.
Rochelle’s lost her two most favorite people and is feeling so much sadness until she meets him. Marcus’s life is full of so much darkness and secrets and he can’t offer anyone love nor does he even believe he can love someone else until her. Soon Rochelle feels like not only is she in too deep but her best friend Tanika is changing right before her eyes and she has no clue how to help makes things better.
Kisses and Lies has some sadness and tragedy but also some hot sexual moments and a complicated anti hero. An amazingly emotional read.
These characters were damaged in their own way.
One needed light and the other dark. That’s
always something I look forward to when reading
something from this author.
It took them awhile to get were they needed to be,
they had to grow in a sense. I really enjoyed reading
this book, really looking forward to more from
the side characters in the next one
You can always count on T.L to give a protective and mysterious hero. That’s what always draws me to her writing. Marcus and Rochelle’s journey was intense and dark yet so compelling .
The first chapter hooked me. There was so much left to figure out after one chapter. I needed to keep reading.
Plus, the secondary characters really added to the whole story.
A dark, gripping, emotional and heartbreaking story with a brooding, mysterious anti-hero who will melt your panties and your heart. A strong, fierce heroine who fights against her instincts to stay away from danger but can’t help but gravitate toward the insane attraction she feels for this conflicting man that is Marcus Stone. Rochelle and Marcus are just so wrong for each other, and yet they seem to fit so perfectly at the same time. She’s the good girl, he’s the dark broken man who will ruin her. So why can’t she stay away from him? Why does he seek her out after warning her away? It’s a delicious train wreck waiting to happen.
I loved the characters and story line in TL Smith’s newest release, Kisses and Lies. Her stories are full of raw emotions that just pull you in from the beginning. I was hooked from the first chapter, it was so intense and the rest of the story was just amazing.
Marcus was dark and dangerous. Temptation any red blooded girl couldn’t get away from. And Rochelle is just like anmoth to a flame toward him.
Tempting
Burn with lust.
But not long, he could burn her to ashes.
As always with T. L. Smith’s books, I’m always ready for her brand or twisted love. Marcus and Rochelle story is that. Twisted, unplanned, scary, exciting journey. When her light meet his darkness. When his darkness pull her in and how she let her light dim. How she pull back and find her self again in her heartbreak. How he’s willing to walk on fire just for her.
Love how unperfect and twisted their love is. One thing I got from their story? Be your own lifeline. What ever happen, you are your own saviour.
Kisses and Lies

Another wonderful book from TL Smith.
This one was wow !!
Dark and sexy and over the top !!
Can’t wait for more from her. She always holds me captive!
This is a read that took me a little bit to get into but once it grabbed me I was hooked. I found the premise to be so interesting and the story really had so much going on. This book packed in the emotions and lots of highs and lows that kept my attention through the read. While the author did a great job at developing the characters part of me wants to know so much more about them.
There was absolutely nothing I disliked about this book! So so so good and classic, TL Smith! With her dirty talking men and powerful women… the story of Rochelle and Marcus is no exception. I’ll be adding this to my reread list, for sure!
