Kissed by Magic, authored by Erica Ridley, is a charming and cute fantasy fairytale with thoroughly likable characters, no villains, and a sweet, sexy romance laced with humor and magic. A perfect, light, fun read. I was gifted an ARC of this work by the author and offer this voluntary and unbiased review. Kissed by Magic is an updated version of Let it Snow which I had purchased previously.
A delighful story set right before Christmas, that will bring a lot of laughs and smiles as you follow Lance Desmond, adverturer extraordinaire to a magical place to find his fortune! Or will he? When he saw the poster of himself displayed right in front of the Pawn & Potion and his home above, the heading was “Wanted Dead or Alive” and the smaller print gave a reward. Oh geez, he had already spent that money they were after him for, so what to do?
He had the brilliant idea to go to Castle Cavanaugh and find his riches! But wait, nobody ever came back who went in? Oh he could do it. Plus he never expected a Medieval Princess.
This was such a fun, lighthearted story, which is exactly what I needed. One can never smile too much! Waiting for the next in this series!!
A whimsical story with a fairytale ending. Lance sets off on a journey to find treasure and instead finds love. Marigold is trapped in her castle of ice until she is rescued by her hero Lance. It is a quick and easy read that will leave you chuckling.
Jump forward 50 years to when magic has returned, and spend four hours with this YA quest. I read an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
This was a charming story that melded modern life with a fairytale like story. Lance was the perfect hero for Marigold. His enthusiastic nature in dire circumstances with Marigold is what will make this ice princess melt into his arms. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Adventurer Lance Desmond needs to produce a fortune before his arch-rival collects the bounty on his head for a debt. He risks an ancient curse to retrieve treasure hidden within icebound Castle Cavanaugh, only to become trapped inside with medieval Princess Marigold who’s been cooling her heels for hundreds of years.
The lonely princess refuses to acknowledge the blossoming attraction between them. Not just because she deserves a better future than a penniless rogue. But because at midnight, he’ll vanish like all her other would-be heroes. And the evergreen in the parlour will have one more figurine hanging from its boughs.
A well written engaging read with strong characters & it that held my interest all the way through with a mix of the trapped medieval princess & the swashbuckling dare devil hero. Does he become an ornament at midnight or does he live to eat bread & stew each day? This book is a re release of Let it Snow
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Kissed by Magic is book one in the Magic & Mayhem paranormal romantic comedy series by Erica Ridley. This is quite a change for Ridley. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of her Regency romances. This story has a touch of fantasy and magic in it. It is a fun romp with humor sprinkled through. I loved the hero Lance Desmond. He has a quirky relatable sense of humor. Princess Marigold reminded me of the princess in the Mario Kart games. Overall, a fun, quick read. I was gifted a copy of this book.
Kissed by Magic (Mayhem & Magic #1) by Erica Ridley …this is the first book in series and I want to than Erica and the publisher for letting me preview it. Lance is a adventurer who must get a fortune to save his life… Princess Marigold trapped inside Castle Cavanaugh since medieval times. Now they are both trapped…can he save them or will he become a figurine on the evergreen tree? Plenty of surprises, twits, angst, some laughs, steam all getting to a HEA.
Nicely executed, very imaginative story. I found all the little time/culture differences incorporated were quite amusing. These included a snickers bar and ebooks on a smart phone (2 things I can very much relate to).
I also chose “haunting” considering the time Princess Marigold has been cursed and her heartache at the thought of parting with ornaments (trying to avoid a spoiler).
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of Kissed by Magic; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is not the usual type of book I read by Erica Ridley so I did not enjoy it as much as her other books. But no matter what type of book Erica Ridley writes it is interesting and enjoyable. I had to finish it to see what happened to Lance and Marigold.
This story was previously titled ‘Let it Snow’. It tells us about Lance who is from modern day times) and Marigold (from the medieval era.).
There is a bounty over Lance’s head. He is a bit of a gambler in that he takes chances in the hopes that he can fulfill his dreams and ambitions and is now in major debt.
Marigold has been trapped in an ice-bound castle by herself and is forced to relive each day. Interesting theme, right?
Of course these two characters are thrown together in these unusual circumstances and have an amazing adventure trying to free themselves from being trapped in the castle.
Erica Ridley has written an amusing story, filled with strange happenings and adventure, a touch of magic and a bit of sweet romance thrown in. It could appeal to just about anyone and is a light and easy read.
I read this Advance Reader Copy (with a smile in my heart) and my unbiased review above is given voluntarily.
“Kissed by Magic” by Erica Ridley
A fun romantic comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Lance and Marigold. It is fun to get away from ones reality and visit another place and time. I received an ARC of this story from the author via BookFunnel. Read the description and some reviews.. and then give this story a chance to enchant you. Happy Reading!!
I didn’t know what to expect from this book as I only know Mrs Erica Ridley for her regency romances.
But when I learned some of her earlier books will be back for sale, I jumped on the opportunity.
I would label this read as a time travel fantasy romance as a princess from a fairy tale meets her knight disguised a treasure hunter adventurer, when Rapunzel meets Indiana Jones.
Impossible to tell more than the blurb without spoiling the read.
This huit-clos was charming, full of smiles and cheerful moments but also with some sadness.
Marigold is a nice woman, she grew up the hard way and left her spoiled days far behind when she had to recreated herself and learn from her errors. Lance is the perfect hero, he is thoughtful and caring, ready to do anything to free her, even let her go.
Their encounter is the meeting of past and present with the awkwardness it can create, but it was handled with a lot of fun and candy crush levels.
A fast paced novella with a bit of magic, the perfect balance between humor and sorrow and filled by love.
The futuristic description kind of put me off at first – I don’t read that genre but I do read Erica Ridley’s books & love them, so what the heck & it ended up being a hilarious, heartwarming love story.
1. You have Castle Cavanaugh, which has been encased in ice since medieval times.
2. You have lovely Princess Marigold who has been cursed & inside the castle for 620 years. She was a spoiled only child of King & Queen & she had a spell cast upon her by another Queen.
3. You have a clock that resets itself at midnight to the day before & everything appears as it was the day prior.
4. You have a handsome fortune hunter in need of money to pay a debt – Lance Desmond, aka our hero who gets in to the castle but is trapped inside.
They begin having romantic feelings for one another & must find a way to break the spell. This was a short but really fun read with likable characters & I highly recommend it. I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book; all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
