International Bestselling Author Anne Mercier brings you a tale of a douche and a dame battling the everyday trials and tribulations found in the halls of high school. When I’m dragged to a party by my best friends, I don’t plan on having a good time–and I’m not, until “he” finds me alone on the beach. I expect him to be a jerk with looks like him–but he’s not. He’s funny and sweet and we spend … funny and sweet and we spend hours talking about nothing and everything.
Then he kisses me.
And I give myself to him–a familiar stranger with a name as fake as mine–then we say goodbye.
I never planned on seeing him again.
When Shell Beach Hall moves all their classes to Shell Beach Academy, I’m more than a little annoyed. The Academy is full of the snobs I avoid like the plague.
I can’t hide my surprise when I see him again. He can’t hide his derision, accusing me of knowing who he was and using him to gain popularity.
I realize I was wrong about him. He’s a jerk…and I want
nothing to do with him.
But he won’t leave me alone.
He taunts and teases me.
He’s arrogant and a jock who sleeps with any girl he wants. “They should all be so lucky”–his words, not mine.
I’m disgusted. This is who I gave my V-card to? Ugh.
I loathe everything he represents and I want to punch him in his pretty bullying face.
So why can’t I stop feeling his hands on my body or hear his sexy whispered words?
Why, oh why, did he have to kiss me?
WARNING: Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger

I have read many stories by this author but this was her first YA book. Every book is better than the next and this one did not disappoint. Life through the eyes of high school Jillie was a story I will not forget. From broken hearts, jealousy, to best friends and so much more. From page one to the last I thought it was so well done. This is part one of a two part series and I cannot wait to see where her journey will take her.
Seriously, you aren’t ready for this book. So why listen to me? You know you want to read this book because it’s by Anne Mercier, the author of The Rockstar Series. It’s not like the Rockstars though, it’s a book on high schoolers who struggle with everyday high school shenanigans. There’s humor and there’s angst, but most of all, there’s an awesome story behind it all. Don’t believe me? Then don’t take my word for it, read it yourself. Once y ok u start, you won’t be able to stop. You will be begging for more. But I’ll let you decide for yourself. Happy reading!
This is book one of the Kiss Duet! I loved this book so much. It is YA and it was just what I needed. I loved the characters. Jillie and Leo are great characters as are the secondary characters. I need the next book like right now. There are some things that will keep you guessing and some that you may figure out.
Jillie is a strong lady but is vulnerable and she is trying to stay true to herself. At times she is not liking how she is acting but I have faith that she will get through it. Leo is a typical jock, he has walls built up so high because of all the people that use him to get what they want, whether it be popularity or in his pants. He is hiding his true self behind the walls.
I look forward to reading the next book!
Love, love, loved this book! Can’t wait for the next 1.
I want to be Jill when I grow up.lol I love that is has a heart of gold, shy but can kick butt if she needs to. I can’t wait to see where Jill and Jack(he’s Jack to me) go from here.
Holy Smokes this book is good!! Young Adult at it’s finest!!! and for being Ms. Mercier’s first time writing this genere,… YOU GO GIRL!!!!!
This story is so easy to read, you zip right through the pages because you just can’t get enough. and the ending OMG!!!! Really!!!!!!! Just thank God, that book two in this duet comes out next month. Because the need for more is strong.
As far as YA book’s go, this one has it all, drama, drama, drama, boy meets girl, things go wrong, life changes, situations may or may not be what they seem. And you are just left with questions and what ifs. Can’t wait for book 2.
High School can be the worst for some and everything for others. And for Jillie she tends to try and stay out of the spotlight. But when Fate interfers and pushes her to her limites. Life can get a little bumpy.
Great new YA from Anne Mercier.
Takes me back to my high school years. The drama, the boys, the friends, the jealous snobs.
Jillie and Leo aka Jack and Jill met at a beach party. The attraction and chemistry was hot for them both and Jillie gives him what she gave no other thinking they would never see each other again.
When school starts and they have to combine schools, Jillie discovers HGJ (Hot Guy Jack) is really the popular quarterback and he isnt alone.
Drama is heavy and misunderstandings lead them both to thinking different of the people they met at the beach.
Great fast pace read that turns into a tragedy and cliffhanger. What will happen to Leo and Jillie when she has to leave? So many questions and eager for book 2.
Forget what you’ve read by Anne in the past, because this book blows the rest of them out of the water!!! I was sucked in from page one and I couldn’t put it down. It was a refreshing change of pace from the rest of her books. I fell in love with the characters, the story, the heart. I mean what’s not to love!! Great job Anne! I can’t wait to read book 2!
This book had it all From love/hate to laughs and tears. Oh and some karaoke. And the cliffhanger! Cant wait for part 2! Anne has done a wonderful job with YA book!
This is the first book in a duet from this talented author, and my word, what a fantastic introduction this is. I adore all of this authors’ work, but she has certainly upped the ante with this refreshing YA romance story. This is an emotional roller coaster throughout, with a love / hate relationship. This is a beautifully written story which is filled with angst, twists, surprises, fun, humor, and is an all round entertaining read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read the next part of this phenomenal duet.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy for an honest review.
Another genre mastered! Kiss This is YA but written so well you don’t even realize it. Filled with fun, laughs, love and heartache, this is a must read!! Excited for the second book!
I absolutely love this book , once again Anne Mercier delivers ! This book is a all day reader I read it in one setting I just couldn’t put it down . This is such a real in your face book you will absorb every emotion from being mad , happy , sad then you’ll catch yourself laughing out loud ! Entertaining till the last word then you’ll want more ! Enjoy !
Just finished reading Kiss This and I must say I am very pleased with it. Anne Mercier you have given me and my daughter something more to enjoy together. I can finally show her another amazing author to fall in love with. And she will definitely be able to relate to Jillie and her attitude on life. Anne your amazing as usual, but you shattered me with the cliff hanger ending. Love it and can’t wait for book 2!
Anne does it again. I have yet to be disappointed in one of her books. Whether you like YA or not, this book is so good you should read it, but be ware it ends in a cliff hanger. Book 2 should be out shortly and this 52 year old can not wait.
Jillie is your typical military brat, uses to being uprooted constantly. But this time she is visiting her Aunt Ruthie in California, where she is absorbed into a wonderful friendship with Adurey and Isla who drag her out of her out with them to meet teens their age instead of hibernating at home.
At the last party of the year before school starts, she meets a guy who ia exactly like ahe dreams of. Since she doesn’t know how long she will remain in California, she decides not to tell him her name and won’t let him tell her his name. They spend the entire time off by themselves talking, getting to know each other and just being real. By the end of the evening he wants more, before they can truly discuss it, he is dragged away by his friends.
Imagine both of their surprises when they run into each other Monday morning at school. He jumps to rhe conclusion she used him to gain popularity. She jumps to the conclusion he lied to her about everything he told her.
Come take the ride as they try and figure out what is true and what is real. Can they put the past behind them and have the relationship they both so desperately wanted that night on the beach?
4.5 Stars
I don’t generally read YA novels, but I was drawn in by the synopsis of this title and I’m so glad I didn’t pass it up. Kiss This is a angsty and emotional story.
Jillie is strong yet vulnerable and resilient, having endured her fair share of heartbreak in her life. She’s quite relatable being an introvert who would prefer to read than party with friends. I loved her sassy attitude and the fact that she doesn’t follow the crowd, and does what makes her happy.
The hero is complex and surprising. I will be eagerly awaiting the next title to see how not only his character but their interactions develop.
The banter is witty and fun, and the supporting characters definitely add to the story line and I can’t wait to see more of them in the next addition to this duet.
Jack meets Jill. Jill falls for Jack only to find out Jack isn’t real. This book was everything I wanted from a YA. It gripped at all the mushy parts of me and made me laugh. I cannot wait for book two so I can see what happens after that gut wrenching cliffhanger.
