A MIDSUMMER KISS – Tamara Gill has done it again with this wonderful book & its endearing characters. Miss Louise Grant has been a lady’s companion since her parents died & her aunt sent her to London at age 8. She has grown up with Lady Mary & now her lady has married the Duke of Carlton & she will no longer need a companion. Louise has obtained a position in York tutoring 6 children & she needs to get there as soon as possible to start earning money to send to her aunt who is caring for her younger twin siblings, Stephen & Sophie. However, her last night in London would not go as she planned. Luke Ashby, Marquess Graham, has sworn to never love or marry after experiencing the death of his parents & little sister in a carriage accident. He will never forget the love lost, being alone & thrust on his Grandmother who taught him to be a duke at the age of 8 but that was all. He will never forget having to look at his family’s bodies & the emptiness he felt. He now has a reputation of quite a womanizer in society & is never associated with one woman. He is at a ball for his friend the Duke of Carlton, who will be introducing his new countess to the Ton. Luke proceeds to get drunk & arrange a tryst with a widow. Following the widow’s directions, he enters the wrong bedroom & after Louise wakes up with Luke looming over her in her bed she screams, alerting the Duke & Duchess & several ball attendees Luke caught with his pants down. Even though nothing happened, it is the way of the Ton & they were forced to marry for honor sake. This would be a marriage in name only. Luke is on again, leave her, on again, leave her & it only makes Louise’s will to have a real marriage & family come true. Luke had to go through a lot of changes to let go of the past & he brought me to tears a couple of times after he finally came to his senses. Also, the epilogue & wonderful & heartwarming (more tears but happy ones). I highly recommend this book to all historical romance lovers – you won’t be disappointed with the story or the characters.
A KISS AT MISTLETOE – What a perfectly fun & pleasurable book this was to read – the story kept you turning pages with constant happenings & never a dull or drawn out moment & the captivating characters kept you engaged & turning pages. Lady Mary Dalton hates everything about London’s season activities. She finds the ladies needlework, painting & such to be a waste of time – she would much rather be outside fishing, riding, climbing rocks. However; after three seasons & no husband (which was just how she liked it), her parents have decided that she is twenty & three & this year will choose a husband. Her parents have decided to invite eligible suitors to their annual Mistletoe Ball. Mary’s brother, Peter had invited his best friend, Dale Ramsey, Duke of Carlton to join his family for the House Party festivities. Dale was well known in London as a “man about town” & every eligible lady & their mamas had set their cap on wedding the handsome Duke. He is happy in his footloose lifestyle & everyone knows his distaste for marriage. The wild times begin when Mary literally stumbles in to the dukes arms. Whether the sensation is lust or love; Mary is everything he doesn’t want & Dale is everything she shouldn’t want. Tamara has created such a great couple with a story to back them up – I highly recommend this book & all the ones in the series – you will no be disappointed!
A KISS IN SPRING – This was such a fun and romantic journey with Brice Mackintosh, laird and earl. Brice feels he should marry a particular lass due to a promise he made to his parents before they died. Sophie Grant, who was not part of a aristocratic family. Sophie’s sister had been a lady’s maid but married the Marquess Graham (Book 1 of this Series). Travelling north to Scotland to visit a friend, there is a carriage accident & Sophie is stranded in Moy with her maid, & Brice Mackintosh. The longer the were around one another, the stronger the attraction became but it was a refreshing slow burn to love as they both fight it but have to finally give in. I highly recommend this whole series – the stories & the characters are enchanting & you won’t be disappointed!
A Midsummer Kiss 5* – An Enjoyable Regency Romance.
Louise, a respectable lady from an undistinguished family, is compromised by a marquess. Lord Graham would probably not have done the honourable thing and offered marriage if it had not have been for the Duke and Duchess of Carlton who insisted on it. Not a good start for a marriage, particularly when Luke dumps Louise at his country estate and returns to his bachelor life in Town but Louise decides she is not going to be ignored; at the very least she wants a family of her own to love. So begins her campaign to make a future where she can have a happy and fulfilled life. I admired Louise, she was a strong woman who had been ignored by the ton whilst she was a Lady’s companion and it took a lot of guts both to take her place in Society as a Marchioness and to try an attract the attention of indifferent husband who she only knew as a drunk rake.
A Kiss at Mistletoe 4* – Wallflower to Diamond.
A tomboy Earl’s daughter with several unsuccessful seasons behind her, whose mother dresses her in outdated fashions, takes the bit between her teeth to reinvent herself when it finally sinks in that her family will not allow her to remain unwed. In doing so she captures the interest of her brother’s best friend, the rakish Duke of Carlton. But even should he be serious, will he want to cage her?
A Kiss in Spring 4* – Torn by a Promise.
A trip to the Highlands, leads to Sophie Grant spending time at Moy Castle and falling for the Laird. However what she doesn’t know is that whilst not officially betrothed, he is promised to Elspeth Brodie and that no-one in Clan Mackintosh has ever wed a Sassenach.
Very enjoyable series
Loved the books, but read #2first for consecutive order.
I liked all three books. Different yet the same. Each lady strong in her own right. Delightful reads.
Loved them all but should of read them in order.
This is just porn…..could not finish it.
Fun read and easy to get wrapped up in. Likeable characters and easy to get back into the story if one needs to take a long break from reading… in other words it keeps your interest and wanting to get back into it.
Nice easy reading happily ever after.
Love this!
Lots of sex ! Not strong stories just women who are curious then more sex.
A trilogy of short HEA stories.Ut’s difficult to develop characters in what are really more novellas. Enjoyable bedtime reading.
Loved how each of the 3 novels sequenced each other and you felt like the characters were your old friends!
The wallflowers in this series are all strong women who know their own minds and find love they are not looking for. The plot twists keep you reading for the happily ever after.
1. A MIDSUMMER KISS – 4 STARS
Well, this is an H you will love to hate through 3/4 of the story. You do understand why he acts as an a–, but that hardly makes for a romance story.
The h is an innocent, loving and caring person and doesn’t deserve what happens to her or how she is treated by the H. It is his fault they are forced to marry and he treats her awful. He doesn’t explain why he never wanted to marry or have an heir. He just keep pushing the h away and hurting her heart.
Thank goodness for her siblings and her friend Mary helped her to get a back bone. They reminded her she is the victim in this and to hold her head up high. Oh how I loved Mary and especially the h’s brother. I hope Ms. Gill has stories planned for the siblings because they were amazing secondary character’s.
We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, little on romance, very bumpy and rocky road to HEA, and steam aplenty. Plus we are treated to a very fulling epilogue 7 months in the future that made me smile.
I can’t improve on the blurb, just recommending this story.
2. KISS AT MISTLETOE – 4.5 STARS
I enjoyed the h being a spitfire and liking things a lady of the Ton should not. She has had 5 Seasons and sees no reason for her to give up her life. She loves to fish, hunt and climb rocks. When she realizes her parents will be making her find a husband the next Season, she changes her tactics. Instead of looking dorky, she changes her clothes and hair style and suddenly becomes a hit at her parents holiday party. She wants to be the one to choose a husband, even though she prefers to remain a spinster.
There really isn’t much on Christmas spirit in this story, other than Mistletoe being hung around the house.
The H is a Duke, loves his life and doesn’t want to marry for sometime down the road. The honesty of the h takes him by surprise and so the romance builds slowly without either of them realizing it. He feels protective of her and at first only wants to keep a certain Rake from her.
There is lovemaking, outside of marriage and a few other things, heat level 4 out of 5. I felt a connection to this couple so it was filled with passion.
I do agree with others, that the actions and speech seemed more modern to me, but I still enjoyed the story line.
Loved the epilogue a few months down the road and we discover they really do love each other and have settled into a comfortable life. One of my favorite parts was before the wedding, she wants him to know she will not tolerate him having affairs. I dislike when an h just accepts things or holds them in her heart without discussing what she would or would not tolerate.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and spice.
3. KISS IN SPRING – 2.25 STARS
I can not stand when a lie/deceit goes on for the whole story as it did in this. I want my character’s to be honorable and loyal. This H was so far from being honorable and he takes the h’s innocence without explaining the circumstances of the women staying in the castle.
Granted the h was dumb in regards to this women. She lives with the clan next to them, but was staying in the Castle with the H, didn’t she think that was funny? The h is lose, the language and thinking too modern.
There is sex outside of marriage, heat level 4 out of 5. Since I didn’t feel a connection to this couple, it was more lust than love.
No cliffhanger, HEA, no romance since based on lie and spice, Lords name used in vain. (ljb)
Read Book #2 Before Reading Book #1
Kiss the Wallflower set of the first three books in the series is an okay read if all you want is to pass a few afternoons on the beach. Each is mindless entertainment with a shallow plot and marginal character development.
If you do read this set, I suggest you start with book two because the main characters actually are the ones that introduce the main characters of book one. I read each book in set order, but wish I had known to read them starting with book 2. Of the three books, I did like book one the best.
Content 411: In addition to being sprinkled with swearing and vulgarities, all three books contain very descriptive sex scenes.
I have read all three of the books in this boxset. Each one is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion.
A Midsummer Kiss: At the evil machinations of a vicious woman, Louise Grant finds herself being accosted in her bed in the middle of the night. Luke, Marquess of Graham, quickly realises what has happened and when his best friend demands that he act honourably, he reluctantly marries Louise. Whilst she has few expectations from the handsome Marquess, Louise determines to make the best of the situation. However, when he thinks he can sideline her, Louise stands up for herself and makes sure that he understands that he has no choice but to treat her with the respect due to her. Luke is a wounded hero, in that he is still suffering from the crushing losses of his childhood, not realising that Louise in fact suffered every bit as much as he has. This novelette touches the heart as one feels for the pain being experienced by the characters and one can only cheer them on as they find their happiness.
A Kiss at Mistletoe: Lady Mary Dalton definitely marches to her own drumbeat! She doesn’t care about prevailing conventions and prefers instead to follow outdoor pursuits that make her family despair of her. Faced with the news that she will be attending the upcoming season, Mary sets out demands of her own, which her father agrees to. However, there is still the Mistletoe Ball to get through, to which her ever hopeful mother has invited a number of eligible bachelors. Dale Ramsay, the Duke of Carlton has no intention of finding a bride for some time yet and when he does, he has vowed that she will be a quiet and biddable young miss, not one to stir up arguments or state her own opinion. His first sight of Mary appalls him, but then he gets to know her and realises that under her unfashionable gowns and behind her spectacles, there is an intelligent and intriguing young woman. As Mary turns to Dale more and more for advice on selecting a suitable groom, he discovers that he really does not like the idea of her marrying any one of the prospects and instead becomes very protective of her. This is an enjoyable Regency romance with lovable characters that had me rooting for them.
A Kiss in Spring: An enjoyable Regency romance set in the Highlands, where a young woman who is new to the world of the rich and privileged, finds herself being rescued by a dour Scottish laird. Everyone but Sophie knew that Brice Mackintosh is destined to be married to his childhood friend, despite their mutual antipathy to the match. Throwing Sophie into the mix brings all sorts of awkwardness. The attraction between the main characters is strong, but one cannot help but wonder why Brice wasn’t upfront with Sophie, and why she refused to believe the advice being given to her. When the truth is forcibly thrown in her face, Sophie turns her back on Brice, but her heart is broken. One cannot help but feel for Sophie in her naivety, and it is fortunate that Brice has his sister in his corner to give him the necessary push when most needed.
These enjoyable Regency romances with lovable characters, had me rooting for them. The stories are well written and although fairly short, they have all the elements of lighthearted romance. I received a copy of this boxset as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A wonderful Regency romance collections
Great Set!
Watch the Wallflowers bloom in this delightful set of stories.
A Midsummer Kiss
When Luke, Marquess Graham, mistakenly finds his way to Louise Grant’s room and bed on the night of their friends’ ball, they are forced to marry. Luke doesn’t want to marry or care for anyone, and while Louise is willing to make the best of their situation, but Luke tries to run from it. Luke has insulated himself from the possibility of love and family. Louise does what she can to make life full and happy for herself, and her brother and sister. Louise reaches out; Luke must find the courage to accept what they can have together. This is a wonderful story full of emotion and hope, and Luke and Louise, Sophie, and Stephen are characters you can love.
A Kiss at Mistletoe
Lady Mary Dalton is happiest in the country where she can ride, fish, and enjoy the outdoors. Her husband, if she marries, will let her continue to do the things she enjoys.
Dale Ramsay, Duke of Carlton, is a rake, and when he finally marries, it will not be to an independent, rambunctious bluestocking. Mary and Dale seem to be the world’s worst match, cupid, Christmas spirit, and mistletoe don’t seem to agree. These two are fantastic together. The chemistry between them sizzles. The secondary characters-the Earl and his gentle nudge toward marriage, her mother’s over-the-top advice on fashion (one of my favorite parts is the reaction to Mary’s solution to ruffles and bows) and husband hunting, Peter’s protective-brother posture-were most entertaining. Another wallflower blooms in this heartwarming and funny story.
A Kiss in Spring
Sophie Grant is on her way to Scotland to visit a friend. An accident with her carriage causes a delay and a stay in the town of Moy, the home of Brice MacKintosh, Laird of Clan Mackintosh and a Scottish Earl. Sophie is a friend of his sister Elizabeth who invites her to stay with them until she can travel on. Sophie is introduced to Elspeth Brodie, another friend and guest. Sophie falls in love with Brice, and he with her she thought. When she finds out he is expected to marry Elspeth, she feels betrayed. She immediately returns to London without giving Brice a chance to explain the true situation. Soon he learns that she is to marry someone else. Is there anything he can do to convince her that he really loves her and wants her to marry him? Can he even get to London in time to try? This is a quick, cute story with a tiny bit of turmoil and interesting characters.
