A standalone paranormal romance from New York Times bestselling author Samantha Young, writing as S. Young.Fionn Mór was once a high king of Ireland; a fierce warrior who led his tribes against the invading fae. It was a war he couldn’t win and to save his family he turned consort for the Fae Queen. Fionn escaped as the thing he once despised, and the people he loved betrayed him for it. Now, … it. Now, centuries later, it’s time to reopen the gates to Faerie to take his revenge against the Faerie Queen.
At sixteen Rose Kelly discovered family secrets that changed her forever. Years after, she’s still lost, traveling across Europe in search of that elusive missing ‘something’. When she’s attacked by a vampire, not only is she wrenched into a supernatural underworld she never knew existed, a knock on the head releases a spell on her mind and unlocks powers beyond her wildest imaginings. And with them more questions. Questions Fionn Mór claims to have answers to.
Following the powerful and enigmatic Fionn to Ireland, Rose quickly realizes she’s a pawn in his plan for vengeance. One that will force them to face an impossible choice between the deepest love… and the darkest revenge.

Holy moly, what a ride! I honestly don’t read many paranormal books, just not my thing, but there’s something about Samantha Young that turns to gold with everything she touches, which makes her readers, whether it be paranormal or romantic book, jump at the chance to read whatever she writes.
Kiss of Vengence is book two in the True Immortality series, and I’m totally hooked. This book so full of intricate details leading back centuries to tell the tale of Fionn and why he seeks vengence on the Fae Queen, that’s until he comes upon an unknowing Fae, Rose Kelly. I honestly don’t know how this author does it, but the story she creates is full of twists and turns, suspense, incredible creativity, you have to read carefully to get all of the little nuggets she leads you through while embracing this incredibly well written book. Loved the chemistry between Fionn and Rose, Bran was an added bonus to this story, loved his humor with Fionn, and truly loved the settings that the characters traveled to. Although this is a stand alone, I would highly recommend reading War of a Hearts first, not only will you get a look at another great book, but there are tie-ins from that book to Kiss of Vengeance. Well worth the read, so settle down and buckle yourself in for one heck of a story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
After War of Hearts stormed out of nowhere (I’d never read any of this authors other books), I had to sit, not very patiently, waiting for KOV to arrive! I wouldn’t say you can’t read this without having read book 1, but it will definitely help!
Fionn had a blink and you’ll miss it part in book 1! The former Irish warrior king now gets to redeem himself! He led his people in war and when he was captured by the Fae Queen, he was turned against his will. Once he gained his hard-won freedom, his family and former warriors turned against him, entombing him for centuries.
Now released he wants vengeance on the Fae. But is he really willing to shed the blood of a Fae-naïve female to do it?
Rose is a former champion gymnast, now travelling aimlessly around Europe, always on the move. Her family don’t understand why she feels so rootless. But after a close call with a sexual assault, Rose feels a deep seated guilt towards her would-be attacker and wants to understand more of her powers. Just as she decides it’s time to move on she is attacked by a vampire and rescued by Fionn. But not before she gets a crack to the noggin! Who knew a head injury could lead to a world of revelations…
Fionn is a staggeringly tall, hot, muscled dream. Pity his personality is rather…sharp, arrogant, alpha-hole! He lets no one close, even his poor hacker/researcher Bran gets the pointy end of his personality! Rose isn’t sure what to make of him either, he truly gave me whiplash – I didn’t know whether I wanted to kiss him or slug him one half the time!
Amazing ancient artefacts, clashing collections of bad-guys, feuding families and long lost relations! I loved it! There is so much sizzle between Fionn and Rose. The witty banter from Bran is a bit of comic relief and the mad dash around Europe was adrenaline filled.
As ever will the heart, head or a mix of both win out???
P.S Keep some tissues handy, cos there is a blub moment I did not see coming and I admit that I swore like a trooper and called the author lots of not-nice names when it happened!
Following on from War of Hearts we have another stand-alone paranormal romance seeing another Fae sister take the spotlight. This time it’s Rose Kelly whose world is turned upside down when she learns the truth about herself. Not knowing who to really trust, she finds a connection with Fionn Mór, a larger than life being, determined to win her trust with his need to help her. Things are are hardly ever what they seem though. One thing I can say with complete honesty though, is that Rose is one of the good guys, she has nothing but the best intentions for Fionn. She is strong, passionate, and extremely loyal, doing the right thing, even when Fionn pushes all her buttons. A wonderful story. I have got to say I was a little discombobulated in the beginning, trying to remember names and relationships, but, it all came together pretty quickly once I got lost in the story, and I did get lost in it. I loved it, I breathed it. I did not want it to end. Fionn was the perfect alpha male protector, battling with his feelings in both the past and the present. I love how the characters are forming bonds from past books and dare I say for future books. I can’t wait to see where book 3 takes us. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
I loved this story! Filled with danger, betrayal, and excitement, I couldn’t put it down.
Fionn is amazing! Fueled by vengeance, he is on a mission and nothing is going to stop him. As his layers are peeled away and we see his history and everything he has endured, he burrows deeper and deeper into your heart. Rose is such a badass heroine. I love her fierceness and strength and how she never lets anything get her down. She has great determination, she’s resilient, and she is a force to be reckoned with.
Rose and Fionn have such an intense connection. I loved their interactions and banter. The growth of their friendship and the slow build of their feelings are heartwarming to watch blossom. They are so great together!
There’s so much that happens, and many emotions felt throughout. Its intense, action packed, and full of feeling. I’m loving this True Immortality series and I can’t wait see what S. Young has in store for Niamh and Kiyo!
Honestly, I don’t know where to begin, my fellow paranormal romance book loving friends. As usual, this author completely swept me off my feet and carried me into a land where fae, vampires, witches, warlocks, and werewolves face off and feel so real they no longer quite seem that imaginary. She used a great supporting cast of characters, many of whom we met in book 1, War of Hearts. The “caught me by surprise” plot twist was revealed upfront and moved at a perfect pace, allowing this main couple’s unusual situation to play out, all while leaving us in suspense wondering how they would ever survive such heart stabbing betrayal, life threatening drama/decision making, revenge, and deep regret.
Caught smack dab in the middle of the fray is Rose, our sassy, feisty, strong, resilient, always has a quick comeback heroine. Seriously, I absolutely loved her character. It was great seeing her become and fully embrace her true self. I loved it when she finally figured out Fionn’s big secret. She took control, and I cheered her character on for doing just that. She rolled with the punches and was soon throwing some herself.
Fionn, the hero, has his hardened heart set on revenge. He’ll kill, manipulate, lie, and basically do whatever it takes to accomplish his goal. He doesn’t care who he has to run over in the process. Rose was the road he needed to take in order to make it happen. You’ll have to ultimately forgive his knuckleheaded thinking until his heart sets him straight. We do learn, of course, what set him on this course of self-destruction.
Oh, I simply can’t wait for the next book. An ultimate, manly man, mountain of muscle, werewolf hero will likely be matched up with a beautiful, blonde, psychic fae heroine. Yeah, he’s not going to know what hit him until she’s already stolen his heart. That’s what I’m guessing and counting on anyway. Regardless, I know this author will continue to work her magic however she decides to weave that romantic tale.
Here’s to hoping you will enjoy this book as much as I did. I simply could not put it down until the very end, folks.
