“Wow, what an innovative and dazzling world Ms. Cooke has built with this new Dragonfire series. Her smooth and precise writing quickly draws the reader in and has you believing it could almost be real… I can’t wait for the next two books.”—Fresh Fiction

OMG! I forgot how much I love this series! It has been awhile since I read it and I just have to tell you that is just so wrong.
Now, let me tell you my thoughts on the first book in the Dragonfire series – Kiss of Fire. Sara and Quinn are strong, charismatic characters that are easily connected to and I just fell in love with them from the get go. The romance is sweet and has lots of spectacular chemistry flowing from the pages but the relationship has a few stumbling blocks as Sara doesn’t believe in fate or magic, so what’s a dragon that is facing his firestorm to do? Risk everything to fulfill their entwined fates like that’s the easiest thing in the world to do, right? Having to go through emotional turmoil along with life altering as well as mind altering decisions is certainly not easy so this couple’s happily ever after is quite a bit of interesting and fulfilling hard work.
And that’s not all, this book is full of excitement and thrills as anticipation and suspense build throughout the story which kept me on the edge of my seat and hanging on to every last word that this couple said. The fast paced story never has a dull moment and introduces and a whole new and fascinating world of dragons that I find to be exhilarating.
Deborah Cooke’s Dragonfire world is well developed, easily pictured and easily get the imagination flowing as it introduces some wonderfully unique elements and delightful and intriguing characters and did I mention how sexy these dragons are? I loved Kiss of Fire and I can’t wait for the re-release of the second book – Kiss of Fury!
I read this book ages ago and never reviewed it. I’m sorry I didn’t, although it did give me a reason to reread the book. It was, after all, on my Keeper Shelf for another read. Now I remember why it ended up there!
Sara and Quinn are wonderful characters, seemingly opposite. Sara doesn’t even believe in dragons, so meeting dragon shifter, Quinn, doesn’t meet her world view. They both have challenges they need to work through to find their HEA. Intertwining fates is not aways smooth sailing. Cooke’s story gave me a different way to look at dragon shifters. I enjoyed the twists of suspense that came from external forces designed to keep them apart. Story is fast-paced and suspenseful, and immensely satisfying. Still a Keeper! I need to read the next book in the series.
This was a great, well-written book. Sara decides to run the New Age bookstore she has inherited from her aunt, though she believes in logic and practicality, not fate, magic or dragons. Then she is saved from an attack by a man who turns into a dragon, and she isn’t sure what to believe. Quinn is a member of the Pyr, men who can turn into dragons, though he’s always been a loner. He senses that Sara is his destined mate and his only focus is to protect Sara and keep her safe. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is Book 1 in the Dragonfire Novels series. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in the series.
This is a great beginning to a series about a race of men who are dragon shifters, destined from ancient times to protect humans. Once in each man’s lifetime (which can be hundreds of years long), he experiences a firestorm that indicates he has met the human woman who is his destined mate.
Quinn is a super-sexy, strong, quiet blacksmith. That’s enough to make him a great romance hero, right there! But he is also one of the Pyr, a dragon shifter, who really wants nothing to do with the old traditions and his fellow dragons. However, when he experiences the firestorm, he can’t help but want to protect Sara. She’s everything he could hope for in a mate, but he doesn’t want to freak her out with the truth about his dragon side. But every firestorm brings the attention of other dragons, both good and bad, so he’ll have to figure out if it is worth revealing the truth to protect Sara and help the other Pyr.
Sara has always known that supernatural things can happen, but she pushed that aside and became a successful accountant. When her aunt left her a quirky bookstore specializing in spiritualism and ancient lore, she thinks it’s a good opportunity to get out of her high-pressure job. She never imagined she would have a part in the ultimate battle of good versus evil. When dragons start appearing, she thinks she’s losing her mind, but she never fears Quinn when he reveals his dragon nature. Strangely, she feels like she belongs in this dragon world, even if it does sound crazy.
The chemistry between Quinn and Sara is sizzling right along with the firestorm. I thought the author did a good job of explaining the main point of the mythology behind the dragon shifters while still leaving plenty more of the lore to explore in future stories. This was all about introducing the main characters in this world and setting up the battle between the good and bad dragons. It was an action-packed story centering on Quinn and Sara, and their story had a satisfying conclusion. But it is obvious that the overall Dragonfire story is just getting started. I’m looking forward to reading more.
This is a lovely action romance. I especially liked the slow burn love story and the fact that Quinn and Sara didn’t hop into bed with the first glimpse of each other. Great characters!
Sara Keegan, an ace accountant who now runs a New Age bookstore she inherited from her recently deceased aunt. After nearly killed by a mysterious stranger, she was saved by what she thought was a dragon. Truth be told, it was Quinn Tyrell, a Pyr, a race of beings that can shape-shift into dragons. He is also the Smith with power over metals, and according to prophecy Sara, unknown to her is the Seer. Fated by destiny and the advent of “firestorm”, a mating signal that pulls them to each unequivocable, Sara was drawn into the magical world of the Pyr, and the man who claims to be her mate and protector. Meanwhile, Quinn has to confront his own misconceptions of his past, learn to trust and work with his fellow Pyr, and follow what his heart wants.
