As two neighborhood shop owners battle for business, they prove opposites attract in this “deliciously sweet and savory new romantic comedy” (USA Today bestselling author Abby Jimenez). Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn’t plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door … Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn’t spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success.
From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there’s also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they’re forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it’s possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.
Omg I this !!!
Kiss My Cupcake is the best kind of story out there. It had humor, fighting, sexual tension, competitiveness, love, and of course Ax throwing!!!
Blaire, who comes from a wealthy family of restrauntiers, finally breaks away from her family to open her dream bakery… Buttercream and Booze. Ronan is renovating his grandfather bar next door. And their meet cute was definitely awesome. They compete against each other until they have to band together to make their locations stand out when a popular chain bar opens across the street.
I loved this story… it was the perfect romance!!! I 100% recommend this book!
I recieved an ARC for my honest review.
Kiss My Cupcake is a 10 star romcom. Helena Hunting never fails to give you a story that pulls you in and keeps you laughing throughout.
Blaire has always wanted her own bakery but wanted to succeed doing it on her own and not on the coat tails of her famous restaurant parents. Finally accomplishing her dream she moves into a remodeled building with an old bar on the other side only to find out the owner is a sexy, loud, huge beast of a man with a horrible sense of humor. This man just keeps disrupting her business in every way he can, from stealing her customers to smashing her unicorn glasses.
Ronan has taken over his grandfather’s bar on the condition that if he makes a success of it again his grandfather will loan him the money to start his own brewery. To bring new life into the bar he builds an axe throwing area only to have it be the bane of his neighbors new bakery. But once her meets the retro dressed woman she flips his switch in more ways than one. He loves to get under her skin and keep her temper raised just so he can enjoy the time she spends with him.
When a TV show starts looking for the best new business in the area they both try to win the competition only to find out they do better when they join forces in business and in bed. Ronan hooks Blaine with his good looks and sweet gestures and she grabs him with her cupcakes and beautiful soul.
Kiss My Cupcake was a amazing story with entertaining characters kept me reading til the end then wanting to start over, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. An absolute laugh out loud delight from beginning to end.
As soon as this book was announced I knew I needed it – a rom-com from Helena Hunting + enemies to lovers + cupcakes? It sounded like a hit to me, and after reading it I can assure you it is!
I loved absolutely everything about this book. It was sweet, sexy, and absolutely hilarious. I adored Blaire & Ronan and couldn’t get enough of them. Their chemistry was off the charts, and Helena Hunting’s signature banter was next level. I devoured every word, and wished I was devouring every single cupcake!
The side characters were just as amazing, Gramps was such an amazing addition and I actually teared up a bit during some of his scenes. Lars provided that extra oomph and Daphne was such a fun “sidekick” for Blaire.
All in all, this was a fun and refreshing story that left me laughing, swooning, and majorly craving cupcakes!
“I’m just a cupcake, looking for my stud muffin.”
What a great, original story!
Blair Calloway comes from a family of wealthy restauranteurs who insist that once she’s over her little fascination with cupcakes, she join the family business. They are pretty ruthless in their approach (or reproach as the case may be) and although they have the financial means to help, Blair would rather struggle to make it on her own than have their interference (which would surely come with the money). She may be retro in her fashion and decorating sense, but a fierce independence and will to succeed hide beneath her 50’s housewife exterior.
“What is this?” I snap!
Axe man’s full lips pull up into a grin.
“It’s called a bar, and judging from the look of it, I think you fell down the wrong rabbit hole, Alice. Wonderland isn’t here.”
Ronan Knight, AKA Hot Lumberjack, comes from the finance world. While the income was good, he wasn’t particularly fulfilled. He dreamed of opening his own brewery one day. When his grandmother dies leaving his grandfather to run their family bar, Knight Cap, Ronan jumps in without hesitation to bring the struggling bar back to life. This is his legacy. It’s been in his family for 3 generations. He isn’t going to let it or his grandpa down.
Blair needs her Buttercream and Booze to succeed to not only prove her idea was good, but to prove to her family that she’s capable and perfect the way she is. And Ronan needs Knight Cap to succeed so he can revitalize the family business, and prove he is capable of starting his own brewery. When YouTube extraordinaire Tori, sets out to find the best bar in the Pacific Northwest, the two neighbors are in it to win it.
These charming characters start out like fire and ice, which makes for some hysterical banter and serious sexual tension, and what ensues is hilarious and touching moments that will surely keep you entertained!
This is a top favorite of this author. It was a joy to read, the perfect book to take on vacation with you and read while sunning on the beach.
Despite the disapproval of her family of high end restaurateurs, Blaire is determined to open her version of a cute Cupcake store that serves alcohol. To her dismay, her new neighbor is a “ hunky lumberjerk” whose bar includes an ax throwing wall abutting her store. Ronan is a plaid wearing guy who is trying to keep his family’s bar open and makes it clear he will not compromise for Blaire’s Cupcake wonderland.
Thus begins a series of one up events that keeps the two planning their next move against each other. It’s really just the restaurant version of foreplay. When they actually start to talk about why they started their businesses, things start to progress in the right direction.
I really liked this book. It had just the right amounts of snark, romance, family story, and of course hot sex to be a fun summer read. The cupcake descriptions made my WW a little harder to follow for three days!
Ms. Hunting’s books are always a solid must buy and this one is no different.
Slow burn just about killed me. I was pulling my hair out all the while laughing my ass off what these two did to each other and together. Both Ronan and Blaire are amazing characters and you can’t help but want to be friends with them. They’re both creative, funny and go for what they want.
This book was about two people who have put everything at stake hoping it would bring them the success they needed but that only showed them what’s really important and that’s who you can share your success with.
Absolutely brilliant read and I highly recommend it.

After running a successful cupcake food truck with her partner, Blaire has opened a store-front cupcakery by herself. She’s planned everything down to the last detail. That is everything except for her GQ Lumberjerk neighbor, Ronan, who runs the ax-throwing sports bar next door. Blaire and Ronan get off on the wrong foot when Ronan’s construction causes some damage to Blaire’s business, and he steals her customers during her grand opening. Their rocky start sparks a not-quite-friendly competition and undeniable chemistry between the two. They end up calling a truce when a chain restaurant threatens both of their businesses. Blaire and Ronan join forces to battle this new threat and spend a lot of time together in the process. While working together so closely, they realize that they are falling for each other. They have a shot at love that neither was looking for.
I loved this sweet, fun-and-flirty rom-com. There’s so much to like about this book. It is a realistic view of starting a business and hard work involved. Both Blaire and Ronan are dedicated to their work and achieving their dreams. The snarky banter between Ronan and Blaire is a highlight of the book and will have you laughing out loud. I also really liked Blaire. She’s feisty, unconventional with her 50s style poofy dresses, and has a strong desire to succeed on her merit. Blaire could have taken the easy road paved by her family, but she was determined to define her path based on her interests.
The fun side characters add so much to the story. Gramps is so sweet with his sage advice. Lars and Daphne are hilarious. Blaire’s crazy family adds an unexpected twist to the story.
Though lighthearted, this book does a great job of addressing some serious issues like the importance of pursuing your dreams, interfamily rivalries, and grief.
Fans of enemies-to-lovers romances will love Kiss My Cupcake for its banter and pranks as well as the great cast of characters!

Overall Grade:
“‘God, you’re beautiful.’ He squeezes both of my hands. ‘You look like you were made for me.’ I squeeze back. ‘That’s because I am.’”
There are times in your life when you just need to laugh. Maybe it’s the stress of the day-to-day or maybe it’s something far more onerous. No matter the reason, laughing is INDEED the best medicine. I didn’t realize until Chapter 1 of Helena Hunting’s newest romance, Kiss My Cupcake, that I needed a good laugh. And every chapter after that chapter reminded me again why I adore her stories, why they make me swoon and chuckle and become awestruck by her ability to weave contemporary romance tropes with the type of humor that feels absurd at times but natural to real life. Since I stepped into her Pucked world, I have never turned back, and Kiss My Cupcake is more of the same type of humor you love from Helena Hunting.
This story follows two business owners. Blaire is opening a cupcake/Instagram-ready cocktails business. This woman is 1950s-inspired, driven, organized, and creative. Unbeknownst to Blaire, her business neighbor, the hipster-looking, Brawny man-inspired, Ronan, is in the process of reimagining and renovating his grandfather’s bar, The Knight Cap. From the moment these two meet, the sparks fly. Over time, these two enemies realize a partnership will save their businesses from a corporate, cookie-cutter bar. As they work together, those initial sparks are grounded more in chemistry than anything. However, these two are also competing for the title of Best Bar in the Pacific Northwest. Who will win? Even so, will Blaire and Ronan’s burgeoning romantic relationship survive?
From the start, I was all in with Blaire and Ronan. While seemingly opposites, these two are actually more alike than different. One is the yin to the other’s yang, and the initial disdain they feel for each other is simply kindling for a growing blaze of chemistry. And to be clear, this fire is a slow burn. A real slow burn. I think what I love about Hunting’s characterizations here is her need to build a story before that chemistry builds to a bonfire. It’s what I think makes her an exceptional writer. She recognizes that romance is built through a careful plodding of that chemistry-build, and it allows the reader to believe the relationship, even when some of the circumstances seem unbelievable. If you’re a fan of a steadily growing relationship, not a quick jump in the sack, then you WANT this book.
It’s so hard to say what I love most about this book because it all conspires to grab your heart. Blaire and Ronan’s characterizations and chemistry are obviously the best part. However, the families of both Blaire and Ronan add an additional layer of color. Gramps is my FAVORITE character of this story. With his Scottish accent and life lessons, you will fall madly for him. With Blaire’s family, Hunting illustrates how she’s set apart from other romance writers: the ludicrous finds its reality. When I read a Hunting romance, I belly-laugh. Kiss My Cupcake is no different. Yet, even between laughs, I’m caught up in the story of this book. Blaire and Ronan’s need to prove themselves, their burgeoning coupleship, and their eventual happy ending make this book the perfect afternoon (or evening or morning) read. This is the type of book you can sit outside with your favorite alcoholic beverage while the sun is high in the sky (or setting) and get lost. It’s really easy to do with Kiss My Cupcake.
When I began reading Helena Hunting’s newest book, I intended to use it as a shield of protection for my heart. I was reading another ARC with quite a bit of angst (something very different from Hunting’s stories), and I was going to read a couple of chapters of Kiss My Cupcake and a couple of chapters of the other book, alternating between the two. My hope was that Hunting’s book would save me from the anxious feelings that you feel when reading an angsty book. What happened was typical for me while reading one of Hunting’s romances: I couldn’t stop reading it. While the other book could hold my attention, I didn’t want to leave Blaire and Ronan because the hilarity, the storytelling, the characters, and the plot drew me in and suspended me. I found myself negotiating: “just a couple of more chapters” and I will take a break. After two hours, I finally resolved myself to keep reading until the end because Blaire and Ronan are quite magical. From unicorn martini glasses to va-jay-jay cupcakes to ax-throwing, plaid-wearing bartenders, Kiss My Cupcake is the perfect savior from the most horrible of days. Grab this one QUICK and fall in deep.
If you’re looking for a book that will make you crave cupcakes, laugh out loud and swoon Kiss My Cupcake is going to be your jam!
Blaire owns a cupcake café. She is rocking the pin up vibe, baking some amazing cupcakes and creating matching cocktails. Ronan owns axe bar right next to Blaire’s shop. He is a plaid wearing, tattooed man who is continuing his family’s legacy. They are rivals from the moment they meet. I loved the back and forth between them. But when a new chain comes to their neighborhood, can these two rivals work together?
Blaire and Ronan have amazing chemistry. These two were constantly making me laugh. I loved the friendly competition between them. You instantly fall in love with these two characters and their slow burn of a relationship.
Kiss My Cupcake is the perfect RomCom to curb your sweet teeth and a MUST READ!
Another fabulous rom-com, enemies to lovers romance from Helena Hunting.
Blair and Ronan couldn’t be more opposite if they tried, but holy cow do they make for one hot yet sweet couple. Their story is romantic, with sizzling chemistry, funny back and forth banner and enough sparks to light your kindle on fire. On the opening night of Blair’s cupcake and cocktail shop, Ronan is also having the opening of his sports bar right next door. The axe throwing and live bands of Saturday night is about to drive Blair crazy, not to mention her attraction to Ronan. But when a chain moves in our the street and threatens both of their businesses, will these enemies ban together and stop their prank wars and become more?
This book made me have a craving for cupcakes and craft beer, well done Ms. Hunting.
4.5 stars
Blaire has thrown her entire savings into creating the perfect storefront for her cupcakes and cocktails cafe. She may come from a restaurateur family, but she wants to do this one on her own. But she doesn’t plan for Ronan Knight to open a sports bar right next door on the same day, to compete for the same customers and the same top bar award.
From the moment they meet, these two find themselves in a battle. Their banter is top notch, ramping up the tension between them and raising the fun factor of the story. I loved watching as Blaire works to compete, while Ronan just rolls with her schemes as the bar wars continue. They are both dedicated to their brands, with their own reasons for needing their establishments to succeed, and I found myself cheering for each of them to be the winner (and wanted them both to be able to come out on top).
I loved getting to know the people around Blaire and Ronan and the motivations for each of their businesses. Though one of the families was more infuriating than the other, even the frustrations made for humorous moments that pushed the boundaries of what Blaire and Ronan were feeling.
I found myself wanting both cupcakes, cocktails, and a good craft beer as I read. The flavors sound so amazing that even on the page they are tempting. This was a fun read from start to finish, and the entertainment was the perfect escape.
I have to say; after reading this book, I absolutely had to go and buy some cupcakes. Unfortunately, they were not of the same quality as Blaire’s, but a girl can dream, right? Helena’s descriptions of Ronan eating Blaire’s cupcakes and all the flavors she used were tantalizing in themselves.
I have read many of Helena’s books, the Pucked series, the All In series, the Shacking Up series, and more. Rarely I find a favorite among her heroes. For the most part, I cheer them all on because they are all great characters to meet and fall in love with their stories. However, there have been one or two that I have found particularly heartwarming. Ronan from KMC has moved on to my list of favorites. He’s funny, he’s got a good heart, he’s generous, and he’s willing to own up to his mistakes. When he met the trainwreck that is Blaire’s family, he became a hero in my book, but then as the story progressed, he became an even bigger favorite.
This book has so many fun parts, and delightful scenes trying to list them would take far too look and move me into spoiler territory. Let’s just say the taste we got of the Knight Cap in A Favor for A Favor really did not do the place justice, and I want a cupcake shop like Blaire’s too, please. Helena has again managed to write a deliciously delightful tale. She will leave you sweetly satisfied but crave more of Helena’s romantic stories of people you would love to have as friends falling in love in the most humorous but romantic ways.
I have fallen in love with Blaire and Ronan so hard! This couple is so perfect for one another. I was sad to let them go at the end. I wish this book was part of a series so I’d still get a glimpse of how they’re doing in the future. But then again, I feel like that after all of HH’s books!
You may remember Ronan from the All In Series. We got a sneak peak of him in it. At any rate, here is the story of a guy and a girl who have dreams. Big dreams! Both of them sort of go against the grain. Blaire doesn’t want to take over the family business and Ronan does take over the family business but doesn’t follow his brother into the financial world. It sets the premise for the perfect enemies to lover romance.
As it is always the case with Helena Hunting books, she builds a universe where you love diving into and characters who are real and authentic. From Blaire’s fashion flair and independence to Ronan’s humour and care, you will fall in love with them like I did.
It is funny and surprising and I wish I was able to read it again for the first time!
So come join us for a cupcake at Buttercream and Booze or a beer at The Knight Cap. I know you want to! 😉
I loved this book so much! I was laughing from the very beginning…I couldn’t put it down! I loved Ronan and Blair so much! I loved watching their relationship progress! I also loved that there was no long drawn out unnecessary drama. Make sure you have some cupcakes or a tub of frosting handy! Every time a cupcake was mentioned I wanted one! I would absolutely recommend this book!
Received an arc for an honest review

Helena Hunting’s books always bring such a smile to my face! This enemies to friends to lovers/forced proximity-ish romance checked all my boxes and was such a fun read. I was laughing from start to finish and I am always amazed by the quirky and endearing characters Helena Hunting introduces readers to.
I loved Blaire and Ronan. Together, they had amazing banter and chemistry and individually, they each were so driven and intelligent. Their back and forth was so hilarious, but I loved how that morphed into a true friendship and partnership. Their families were both a hoot and Blaire’s especially had me laughing (and double checking that I read things correctly!). I loved the backstory with Ronan’s grandfather, the Knight Cap, and how that played into the story. I also appreciated that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama and that the bumps our characters do encounter resolved just as quickly as they appeared. The ending left me smiling and hungry for cupcakes and plaid 😉 You don’t want to miss this one!
*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*
Oh my….
I absolutely Loved this book and could not put it down..this book was Romantic, so funny, sexy, and made me laugh… I could not get enough of these two and just loved the banter between Blair and Ronan…
Once again Helena has written another amazing book….. now I have a craving for cupcakes
The queen of Rom-Com has given us another delightful story to temp our tastebuds with Kiss My Cupcake, it’s a fun entertaining stand-alone that will captivate you from the first page.
Blaire is excited and looking forward to opening day of her cupcake bakery and last thing she needs is bar next door to start renovating so she decides she need to face the problem head on by confronting Ronan Knight what she didn’t expect was for the attraction she felt for the annoying man standing in front of her. This is one of those enemies to lovers romances you don’t want to miss, the sparks fly, the sarcasm is witty and the characters are adorable. This book ticked all my boxes, I laughed and I smiled a lot as well as swooning throughout this entertaining read so I guess all that’s left for me to say is please one click this gem, you won’t be disappointed.
Let the fracas of the bars begin, complete with unicorn martini glasses, fake doggy do, and axe throwing. This book swept me off my feet and absconded with my heart! I adore both Ronan and Blaire, but the icing on top for me was Gramps and Dottie’s story and how they influenced Ronan and Blaire.
Blaire’s family is very restaurant-centric, owning several restaurants around the world, with that being their sole focus. And holy wow, this bunch is way out there and beyond my capacity for words to explain. Her sister is married to Blaire’s ex and her cousin goes after anything with testosterone (including Blaire’s ex). And her parents! *gigantic eyeroll* Well they’re just one big, perplexing mess, but they’re family. Blaire is a bit of an outlier, and she’s determined to make it on her own. She’s thrown everything into her new cupcake and cocktails venture, and things are looking promising until the pub next door gets a makeover.
Ronan’s dream is to open a craft brewery, which his gramps has promised to finance. First though, Gramps wants Ronan to bring the family pub, The Knight Cap, into the black. The pub is special to Gramps because he met his late wife and the love of his life there years ago when he was working for his father. Ronan has some great plans for the pub, and setting off the firecracker next door is just an added benefit, and way too much fun for Ronan to ignore.
OMGee, these two are so much fun! A rivalry of epic proportions, complete with snark, sass and pranks, they kept me in stitches and it seemed like the book read itself. And when they finally decide to stop trying to best each other and work together, they are unstoppable.
This one is clever, cute, lighthearted, and steamy, but it’s all that heart in heavy doses throughout the book that makes it a phenomenal read and elevates it above the other romantic comedies out there. You’ll love watching the sparks arc and pop between Blaire and Ronan, but watching them grow and change, and seeing them bring Gramps back to life after losing his soul mate will make your heart sing. This story has that extra special, undefinable something that lands it on my list of top reads for the year. If you’re looking for a wild, hysterical, touching ride that will delight your romantic heart, run to the 1-Click and start reading today!
