As two neighborhood shop owners battle for business, they prove opposites attract in this “deliciously sweet and savory new romantic comedy” (USA Today bestselling author Abby Jimenez). Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn’t plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door … Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn’t spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success.
From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there’s also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they’re forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it’s possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.
What a fun, loving and wit story. This is the kind of book that leaves you with a big smile on your face from start to end. Blaire Calloway and Ronan Knight are both working on their dreams. She wants to run her own business of cupcakes and cocktails, Buttercream and Booze, and stay away from her family restaurant legacy. He wants to revitalize his grandpa’s pub and family legacy, so he can start a brewery.
With their business right next to each other, they become “enemies” while wanting to gain customers and succeed on their own. Their banter is amazing and I love how they get under each other skin, starting a war with a lot of pranks, fun nicknames and hall lot of chemistry. They really try to out do one another, but their connection is clear as day and everyone can see, even when they try to hide.
But when a famous chain restaurant is about to open right in front of them, they decide to join forces. That’s what people say: the enemy of my enemy is my friend! And they take this to whole new level, they cohost events are awesome and is amazing how they click in every part of their lives. I love this couple so much. She rocks the pin up style and he rocks the lumberjack awesomeness! HOT!
This book also has one of the best scenes I’ve ever read, seriously, when Blaire takes Ronan to her family Thanksgiving dinner, all hell break loose and I can say without a doubt that it was one of the most hilarious things I’ve read. Her family is super crazy and while they are obnoxious awful to her, they sure are an entertaining one.
Towards the ending I was with my heart in my throat with Ronan, I couldn’t believe that he would do something so bad against Blaire and I was so so so glad with the outcome. They were made for each other. You know what? Who said that dreams can’t change?
This is another hit from Helena and you should definitely read!
A pretty spicy and sweet romance. Between the tangy colored cupcakes and the virility of a good beer, this story makes you smile for a good time. Feel-good guaranteed! Blaire and Ronan offer us an addictive romance with a happy ending as we like them.
Cupcakes forever!
I love this story! I couldn’t put it down until “The End”. It’s jam-packed full of fun, humor, romance and sexy stuff with some friendly wagering thrown in for fun. I absolutely love Blaire. She brings to mind the epitome of a 1950’s pin-up girl. She has all the style and flair that is needed to enhance the atmosphere of Buttercream & Booze. Her wild and crazy cupcake flavor combinations make me hungry!
Ronan is swoon-worthy! His description brings to mind a very tall, fit, sex-on-a-stick, gorgeous, lumberjack-looking Irishman (insert more yummy adjectives here) that steals Blaire’s breath away and makes her lady parts tingle.
I love how Ronan deals with Blaire’s crazy family and his Gramps touches my heart and makes me want to cry. The couple’s competitiveness is laugh-out-loud funny, endearing and sexy hot! The best love story in quite some time! A must read for sure!
I really, really love when Helena Hunting comes out with a new romantic comedy! She’s the absolute best!
Kiss My Cupcake was such a fun read!
The two lead characters will have you laughing, wondering what they’ll do next, sweat a little and cheer them on, both separately and together!
If ax throwing, icing, good looks, sweetness and icing grab your attention…you’re gonna want to read this book! So entertaining! Loved the characters, story line and the laugh out loud moments were right on time!
Highly recommend
Blaire has everything planned out, to the nth degree for her opening of Buttercream and Booze. It’s a cupcake shop with specialty drinks that compliment the cupcakes of the day. But what she didn’t plan on was her infuriating, sexy neighbor next door.
Ronan is taking over his grandfather’s bar, The Knight Cap, and making renovations. The renovations are the first disturbance that brings Blaire to Ronan. Their back and forths continue even after they’ve both opened.
Their little sparring matches are like pent up foreplay. But once another competitor opens up across the street, Blaire and Ronan join forces… in more ways than one.
This was great, quick read. Definitely one-click to find out what happens.
Ronan and Blaire
I am usually first in line when a new release comes out for Helena Hunting’s books. Her stories are usually the perfect mix of fun, steam, and escape. Kiss My Cupcake just did not get me there. I had a really hard time connecting to the characters and the story in this book.
I usually am a fan of the quirky girl but Blaire was hard to love and easy to like. Blaire’s family is way over the top, almost too over the top. This book needs more interaction between all the characters especially since both had involved back stories. Ronan almost read like the tragic hero who had never experienced any kind of love. But from what little we do know about him His grandparents loved him deeply. I know this was an enemy to lovers, business competitor’s trope but it needed another antagonist.
While this story was not my jam doesn’t mean it won’t be someone else. I am a huge Hunting fan and I will be back from whatever is next. This was a 4/5 star read for me. It is cute and quirky I just felt it needed something more.
These two were as cute as can be. Blaire is a strong, independent business owner who is trying to make it on her own. Ronan is also a business owner who is updating his grandfather’s bar.
These two have this back and forth banter with witty comebacks that will have you cracking up. I loved the messages each one would send each other and how Blaire would always put hers on a cupcake.
I got so tickled when it came to Blaire’s family. Watching them interact was hilarious, and seeing how Blaire interacted with them made me so proud of her. She knew when to stand her ground and stick up for herself.
If you love low angst, funny, and an overall sweet romance, you definitely need to grab this one!

I love everything Helena writes, so obviously I alive this one. Helena definitely gives good rom-com by making you connect with her characters.
Blair’s just wants to be successful in her own, away from her crazy Uber successful family. Her family owns several upscale restaurants, but Blaire’s passion is pastries. She meets Ronan due to the renovations he’s doing next door that are disrupting her setup.
Ronan is trying to bring life back into his grandfather’s bar. When he meets Blair’s the attraction is instant, and the rivalry huge. These two pick at each other until they realize they need to work together to combat the big box competitor.
Oh my god I adored this book! The enemies to lovers trope is by far my favourite. The banter was excellent, the storyline was really enjoyable and I didn’t want it to end!
Booze, cupcakes, and bar complete with ax throwing… I was in love with this story from the book description!
I loved Kiss My Cupcake! I feel like I say this about every book this author writes but this is one of the best books.
Blaire is finally opening her own business, Buttercream and Booze. It is a specialty cupcake shop that also serves adult beverages. Blaire’s family are very well-to-do restaurateurs and would like Blaire to work with them. But Blaire needs to do it on her own. She has sunk everything into the business and she’s not afraid to put in the hard work to make it succeed. She is extremely detail oriented and always has a plan to follow.
Ronan lost his mom and dad in a tragic accident while he was in college. He transferred back to go to a local college and to be by his grandma and grandpa, who took him in. He has always been close to his grandparents and worked at their bar, Knight Cap. After graduating college, Ronan went into finance, like his brothers. But his heart wasn’t in it. He wants to start his own brewery and brew craft beer. Now, with his grandma having passed, his grandfather offers him a deal. He tells him that if he steps up and revives Knight Cap, which just happens to be nextdoor to Buttercream and Booze, he will front Ronan the money for the brewery. Ronan rehabs the bar and is focused on achieving success. But Ronan’s rehabbing is interfering with Blaire’s prep for her opening day. The sparks fly when Blaire goes to confront Ronan about the noise.
Blaire and Ronan continue to do their best to annoy one another until something happens that makes them join forces. What will happen when they start to realize that maybe they are better together?
There is a great book with a fantastic cast of supporting characters. There are plenty of laughs and awww moments. I loved this book and I think you will too.
Kiss My Cupcake is a fun, low angst, opposites attract romance featuring Blaire Calloway and Ronan Knight. It’s a clever and light hearted, heartwarming read with equal parts heat, heart and humor.
I was drawn to Blaire, she’s hardworking, sassy, feisty, strong and has a big heart. Not to mention she’s by far the most normal person in her quirky and kooky family.
The Knight Cap is Ronan’s family bar. He’s doing his best to update the bar and make a profit to keep his grandfather’s legacy alive. In turn he gets to peruse his own dream of starting a brewery. Ronan is a sexy, sweet and loyal tattooed bartender, who has an affinity for wearing plaid.
The rivalry between Blair and Ronan takes an unexpected turn when faced with a bigger threat to their success, and that’s when you see just how similar they are. Both are driven and determined to succeed.
The banter between this pair is fun, flirtatious, quick witted, and at times antagonistic. I loved the pranks they play on each other, with plenty of moments that will have you laughing out loud.
Overall Kiss My Cupcake is a fun and entertaining read that I highly recommend.
This book is super cute and adorable and I just love these two characters!!! These two characters start off as rivals/enemies as they compete in a Best Bar in Town competition and it doesn’t take long for all the dislike to turn into attraction.
The author did a great job building up that chemistry between the characters. And the banter was fun and entertaining. There were a few moments in the book that I found focused more about the businesses than the couple and I just really want more from Blaire and Ronan. But overall, I really enjoyed the story and the characters and the author did a great job on bringing them to live.
This has been my top read this year! I have always loved Helena Hunting. She always writes her books with a crazy sense of humor, fun, quirky characters and plenty of steamy romance. I loved these characters, Blaire and Ronan. She had instant dislike for the loud, sexy prankster who owned an axe throwing bar next to her beautifully perfect cupcake bakery. The pranks he played on her were hilarious. Of course she didn’t think so! I loved watching the romance bloom. Thank you Helena for always creating such fun stories.
This new rom-com from Helena Hunting is a perfect summer read! Kiss My Cupcake balances everything you can expect from this author: witty humor, amazing characters and lots of steam. Combined with Helena’s writing style, you’re in for a delicious experience that’s a smooth mix of sweet and spicy!
I loved how quirky Blaire is. She’s smart, unique and sassy. A real spitfire dosed in sprinkles. Determined to be independent and bring her business to success, she’s relentless and fierce.
Ronan on the other hand is this broody type, a complete opposite of his bubbly business-neighbor. But as we get to know him better, we learn that he’s a kind-hearted, funny and charming man. I just loved him!
It has been known for a long time that opposites attracts, and Blaire and Ronan couldn’t be more different. Yet, they complement each other beautifully. Even though their first interactions were far from perfect, the chemistry was definitely palpable. I enjoyed their banter, I loved the sexual tension between them and I just adored when they buried battle axes and joined forces to save their businesses when the threat reared its ugly head.
Kiss My Cupcake is a feel-good romance that will entertain you and make you blush. It’s funny, flirty and low on angst. Both Blaire and Ronan, as well as secondary characters, are just amazing and their story was as hilarious as it was heartwarming. Recommended read!
Axes, cupcakes, and cocktails?! Oh my! Helena’s Kiss My Cupcake is as sweet as a…well..as a cupcake-so delicious, fluffy, and cute, and leaves you craving another bite. This delectable little rom com is an enjoyable and charming treat. Humorous, sweet, and quirky- Kiss My Cupcake is the perfect, light hearted story to get lost in.
Our story centers on the snarky, but adorkable Blair, the retro-garbed owner of Buttercream and Booze- the latest local small business where locals can grab a garishly decorated and delicious cupcake with a cocktail, in a rainbow unicorn martini glass no less. (brilliant idea, if I do say so!) Opening her own business away from her meddlesome parents is a huge accomplishment, but her happy bubble of rainbow sprinkles and frosting is burst by the aggravating banging she hears next door, the vibration of which- GASP- breaks a precious unicorn glass. Agast, she discovers her business neighbor, the Knight Cap, is undergoing revitalizing renovations, including the addition of an axe throwing section. And, the bar’s owner Ronan, a ruggedly handsome, flannel-loving and tatted up hipster, is less than accommodating when she requests she move his axe arena to stop disrupting her business. Two strangers quickly turn into rivals- both trying to one up each other in a game of who can aggravate the other more. And, their friendly banter turns even more serious when they both end up vying for a spot on a famous influencer’s best bar award list. Sparks fly, mounds of witty banter occur, and sexual tension just oozes from these two and their saucy intercounters. Their mutual annoyance quickly shifts into more light-hearted frivolity- they just can’t seem to get enough of each other. They find more and more opportunities to work together with civility, and along the way they start to get glimpses into each other’s full worlds. Soon an undeniable connection is formed. The build up to their relationship is slower burn, but the chemistry is sizzling, the journey humorous, and the reward is truly deliciously sweet.
Like a maple bacon cupcake- on the surface, Ronan and Blair don’t seem like a good fit. But, once you have a bite, you realize they are the perfect recipe- the flavor profiles working in perfect harmony. Both our leads are unique enough to be interesting but grounded enough to be relatable. These two are just adorable- and so funny. Blair is like the cupcake version of Jess from New Girl- except with a whole lot more bite. Her ambition is admirable and her quirks endearing- we get to see her soften as she falls for Ronan and get to delight her creativity. And Ronan, my dirty talking tatted hipster- he made my ovaries explode. He first appears prickly but we quickly discover he’s just a big ole teddy bear- a guy with a lot of heart and a large sense of humor. He’s affable and incredibly likable- and insanely loyal. Neither character arc is overly emotional or intense- instead we just get a sincere and straightforward story of two characters letting their guard down and two characters who realize love means being supportive, relishing in your partner’s success even more than your own.
Helena was clearly having a ball building the world of Kiss My Cupcake- masterfully demonstrating her quick wit and eccentric creativity. From the clever themes and delightful events in their stores, the charming descriptive details of each setting, the neurotic side characters and outlandish family structure, the detailed eccentricities of our characters wardrobe, to the delightful end of chapter tweets- each detail is so meticulously planned. The specificity with which this story is told makes this world and these characters endearingly unique and tangible. These intricacies vividly characterize our delightfully quirky characters and creates an truly encompassing reading experience- I could practically taste the cupcakes or hear the bang of the axes getting lodged into the bar’s wood.
The drama here is refreshingly minimal- especially for an “enemies to lover” type story. No real animosity or hatred exists- just two neighbors who get a kick out of bugging each other. Once they start to explore their interest, there is very little angsty- a minor blip if even that- they just melt together like butter, and once they solidify, they are solid and pretty level. The story, then, is more even keeled and steady. This is the kind of book designed to just make you feel good- it’s light and pleasant entertainment. The flow is great, the pages turn quickly, and you’ll smile the whole time.
Kiss My Cupcake is the perfect book candy- satisfying and sweet. I was charmed by this pleasant and humorous story- even if it did leave me craving a cupcake…and oddly, an axe. If you need a light read or a fun escape, this will do the trick!
Sweet like a cupcake!
A pin up 50-ish dressy cupcake lady.
A plaid, tattooed, drop dead gorgeous pub owner.
First meeting involve banging earthquake like, unicorn glass accident and stepping on dog poo.
But then when their both business are in tight competition to be the best bar then a new and bigger bar come as treat, they bond a pact of peace and agreement to work together.
And daaaang that screaming orgasm cupcake and the sword of destiny definitly fit together and success making me snort laugh. And fyi, the sword isn’t really a sword…lol
I enjoy this book so much! Sweet n light like a cupcake, this book definitly a hazardous for my sanity cause so many time I giggle and snort laugh. And the ending….sigh. Just too sweet
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!! If you’re like me and fell in love with Helena Hunting and her Pucked series you know she can write some seriously funny shit. She also writes some of the best characters. And I love her for both of those things. I know when I pick up one of her books, I’m going to get quirky, unique, real people who make me laugh out loud and feel all their emotions while I get lost in their world.
So Kiss my Cupcake was a long way from Pucked but it was just as awesome. Even without the hockey hotties and beavers and such. Because it had Blaire and Ronan and all kinds of awesomeness. Honestly, I don’t know what to tell you except read this right now.
Blaire was just gah. She was unique and sweet and different and driven and just so damn relatable. From the first page I was obsessed with her. And her meeting with Ronan just made me love her more. They had such chemistry and their relationship developed so organically I felt like I was right there with them every step.
Ronan was awesome and the dynamic of their relationship was perfect. From the minute I picked this up to the last page I was so engrossed. I just could not get enough of them or their businesses or the secondary characters or any of it. One of my best reads this year.
Warning, this book would make you Craving cupcakes !
I don’t live in the USA, but I keep saying that once I get there I will have to visit all the crazy bars and cafee places. Just for the expierance .
Well last night I was there. In the crazy bar and in the outstanding cafee that has the most spectacular cupcakes . and I didn’t have to leave my own bed .
The book was so much fun, the right amount of sweet and dirty.
Blaire is the owner of the cupcake café and while she is preparing for her opening day she realize that the new owner of the bar next her also reopen his place on the same day.
And so the war begins.
Blaire is ready for war with her interesting choice of clothing , and unique taste . when she face Ronen and his plaid shirts and his hot tattoos she find herself with no witty comeback.
The rivalry between the two have to come to an end when they have to work together in order to keep their business open.

4.5 Stars!
