As two neighborhood shop owners battle for business, they prove opposites attract in this “deliciously sweet and savory new romantic comedy” (USA Today bestselling author Abby Jimenez). Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn’t plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door … Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn’t spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success.
From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there’s also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they’re forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it’s possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.
This is a wonderful confection of a book! Blaire is living her dream. She is opening up her cocktail and cupcake bar where she pairs cocktails with her delicious cupcakes. Problem is, her business neighbor, Ronan is opening up his axe throwing bar next door. Their relationship starts as an antagonist rivalry, but then they have a common enemy and they have to work together to survive. Both Blaire and Ronan are fun characters and most of their antagonism is really just foreplay and the development of relationship is delightful. If you want a fun romance to take your mind off of you troubles, this is the perfect book. I received an ARC of this book from the author for for my honest review.
What a book! Wow, I absolutely love this book! Ronan & Blaire are an amazing couple & I loved every word in this book. Great characters, great storyline!
Oh my, Helena Hunting has a way of creating swoon worthy characters with just the right amount of humor that has you laughing out loud at times or melting from the chemistry! Kiss My Cupcake was fantastic! I could not put this one down. Blaire has finally gotten what she wants, but now she has to make sure her shop is successful and doesn’t fail. However, it maybe more difficult than she realizes when she meets her business neighbor, Ronan. The minute these two meet there is constant banter and jokes slung at the other. Ronan and Blaire had me from the minute they meet, I couldn’t get enough of these two. They have chemistry, but will wanting to be successful in their businesses impact that attraction or will they continue to ignore it! Kiss My Cupcake is hilarious, swoon worthy, and a feel good rom-com that you need to read!
Kiss My Cupcake is a must read! I loved the Sass, I loved the banter, I loved the sexiness and tension! It had me laughing out loud and swooning almost at the same time! Ronan and Blaire had my kindle sweating with all the hotness that was going on! It was so good, it is one of those books you can keep coming back to and rereading it’s that good! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own.
Funny, irreverent, and with so many crazy situations that will keep you laughing the whole book.
This was a great read, I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time.
For me, this was like enemies to lover with a funny twist, Blair has her dreams set on a cupcake place that she is ready to open, but circumstances are making this dreamy experience into a nightmare.
not only her neighbor is determined to break every glass wear of her cupcake shop, but he is also annoying and in a way, he thinks too much of himself or at least that’s how Blair sees it.
Kiss My Cupcake is the perfect example of how two people who never thought had anything in common will end up to be a perfect match, this is the case of Blair and Ronan, no matter how much they were trying to pretend nothing was going on, or how mch they try to hid their attraction for one and other, they both were great heroes and Kiss my cupcake really made these two to finally break and bring down their walls to finally embrace what they really wanted.
I enjoy so much this book, it is perfect for summer, it is perfect to relax, enjoy and to dream about a thousand cupcakes. the constant fight or pull between the main characters was always there even the first time they meet there was chemistry but at the same time anger that felt more like passion building up.
This was a great read and I definitely recommend it especially if you want to laugh like there is no tomorrow.
Kiss My Cupcake is a giggling good time. You are just going to love Kiss My Cupcake so much. I couldn’t put this one down at all. Helena Hunting just has this magic with her romcoms that steal your heart and bring you a laugh out loud good time. I love Blaire and Ronan. Blaire and her crazy family will just put a smile on your face. She is not letting anyone stop her from going after her dream all on her own. Ronan will make you swoon once you get to know him and his families history with bar. I love the friendly competition that goes on between Blaire and Ronan and how well they just work together. The tension is so strong between these two. I love the slow yet quick burn they have going on. Once the spark is ignited you won’t stop fanning yourself. Blaire and Ronan are perfect together in every way possible. I really couldn’t get enough of this one. It is such a fantastic read.
I maybe read 5 books a year that I start and just can’t put down. I love books, but when a book is truly good you have to finish it. This book is that good. It is funny, and whimsical and filled with love. Ronan and Blaire come off like they’d be total opposites. He is the rugged lumberjerk and she is the perfectly put together retro sweetheart. This is definitely an enemies to lovers story. All the enemy/rival action is golden. Also the cupcake porn is at an indecent level of turning you on and making you ravenous. All I wanted while reading is a fancy cupcake or to watch a hot lumber jack eat a cupcake. The idea of a cupcake shop with cocktails is absolute brilliance. I want this place to happen. Also axe throwing is something I’ve been wanting to do since a secret for a secret. Add a dirty sexcapade on wall of axe throwing only made it even more appealing . Eventually as always happens, these two turn that enemy tension into true sexual tension that has to boil over. And once it does it is epic as always. I love that there was not some awful lack of communication break up. Sometimes I get really tired of how no one ever wants to use their words. Spoken like a true mother. Ronan is a good guy in a bad boy lumberjack suit. He would do anything to see Blaire shine and makes sure to always help that happen. They are perfect for each other and this story is the perfect sweetness we all need with a little bit of that spice we all love. As always Helena Hunting you never fail me. You are an author I can always count on to give me books and stories that I can’t forget.
This is without a doubt one of the cutest books I have ever read! Once again Helena Hunting provides me with the dose of adorable rom-com that I need and that no one writes better than her!
From the adorable puns and innuendos, to the electric chemistry, to the fun restaurant themed events, to the rivals-turned-lovebirds plot. Everything was utterly perfect and just the feel good read I wanted and needed!
Blaire and Ronan were an absolute hoot! They constantly had me smiling and laughing. Their banter and rivalry-turned-relationship was everything! It was so fun going through this journey of making your dreams a reality and finding love in the most unlikely of ways. The secondary characters were fantastic as well and really added an extra dimension to the story.
The extra attention to imagery and detail set this book on another level. All of the fun decorations detailed out from the unicorn glasses, to the red and black plaid theme, to the cocktail and cupcake combos made this book even more special. Now I was to go to a place like this in real life (especially with some of the cupcake flavors…YUM)!
If you are looking for a super fun, lighthearted read that will having you smiling like a loon than this is the book for you!
With the opening day approaching the last thing Blaire needs is for the bar next door to start their renovations. When she goes next door to ask them to keep the noise and pounding down she never expected that there would be a spark between herself and Ronan Knight. But will this spark be one of hatred and competition or one of love, acceptance and cooperation? From the opening dialogue between Ronan and Blaire the reader can feel the underlying attraction and the enemies to lovers storyline gets better and better with each and every chapter. With sections that made me laugh out loud and with others that made be sigh with happiness this was an awesome book. Once again Helena Hunting does not disappoint!!
4.5 stars. This was a very fun and entertaining book. Blaire is getting her Cupcake store ready to open and all of the sudden there is tremendous noise from next door. She goes to give the owner of The Knight Cap a piece of her mind. Ronan doesn’t seem phased by Blaire coming in and a tremendous rivalry was born. The first half of this book is an extreme enemies to lovers, but then they have to join together to try to save both of their stores. I enjoyed the sparing between Blaire and Ronan in addition as they came together. There were many laugh out loud scenes and supporting characters. Definitely recommend this one!
This book is an absolute delightful. Blaire and Ronan are competing bar owners in Kiss My Cupcake. The sparks fly from their first cantankerous meeting and their hijinks will keep you entertained from the first page to the last. I LOVED it!
Blaire was a fantastic character. She is determined to make it on her and goes all out to make her cupcake and cocktails shop is a success. She’s sassy and quirky and so much fun.
It took a little bit longer to get to know Ronan, but I loved him once I did. He’s wants to continue his family legacy and hopes to open his own brewery eventually. He’s driven, has a wicked sense of humor and is absolutely swoonworthy.
It was so much fun watching these two battle it out to ensure their respective shops were successful. Once they realize they might be more successful if they work together, the sparks between them become harder to ignore. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for them to act on their chemistry and I loved how Ronan was all in from the start.
I adored this book and think you should run, not walk to read it. It’s a charming enemies to lover’s story that will leave you smiling. It has tons of laughs and heart and now I need to know where to find a cupcake and cocktails store.
What’s not to love about an Enemies to Lovers story, and when you meet Roan & Blaire you will understand why.
Blaire is a young woman looking to have a successful business without the help of her very eccentric family and she will do whatever it takes to make that happen, even if your neighborhood bar owner isn’t going to make it easy.
Roan is a man who has changed his course of employment to continue on a family tradition, making his Gramps proud but annoying the new store owner along the way.
The banter between Roan & Blaire is Fantastic But the chemistry is off the charts and watching them navigate through it all is fun to watch and to to see them hopefully find the HEA that they both deserve both in their professional lives and personal lives.
I am a huge Hunting Fan, and this book is just so cute. It definitely will have you craving gourmet cupcakes. Blaire and Ronan’s developing relationship/competition is so much fun. I love how it develops. I pretty much stayed up most of the night reading this book because I did not want to put it down.
Enemies to lovers romance this is. They got off to a rocky start being next door work neighbors. Him pranking her (mostly just to get under her skin,) before an all out war begins between the competitors. But before things get too bad, they realize they need to work together for the greater good of their business’s futures. There’s an immediate attraction, though they keep those feelings to themselves. While working together they get to know one another better and each realize the other isn’t who they thought they were. They see what makes them tick and why they are the way they are. The banter between the two are fantastic. Though she needs to up her game, as she tends to get tongue tied when around him. There is lots of humor, as you might expect from this author. There aren’t really any teary eye moments, though there are some sweet awww moments and one or two emotional scenes. And of course, there are just enough sexy time moments. There really isn’t a great break-up scene, though it came close, but fortunately, she remained calm and things didn’t escalate. There is however, a grand gesture. The characters are fun and spirited. While he may come across as a jerk at first, he most definitely redeems himself. He’s not really arrogant, he does show us a vulnerability, but he also is confident (and knows how to fake it if he’s feeling less so,) and he’s a bit humble underneath it all. She is smart, strong and has a quirky style that she brings over into her business. Oh, and lets not forget her family… you gotta read this book just to meet them! 😀 This is a good, fun and enjoyable read. Perfect summer read. It’ reads easily and quickly. Story moves quickly. It alternates between POVs.
Omg another phenomenal 5 star read that will have you loving Ronan & Blaire. I love the banter between Ronan & Blaire. What turns into a rivalry becomes so much more. If you are looking for a rom-com that will have you lol and swooning over the main character, then look no further. Ronan & Blaire are a couple that you will never want too forget about. The story, the characters had me completely hooked. I am never disappointed when I read any of Helena’s books, this is by far my favorite rom-com to date.
Can we just give the authour a tiara for her uncanny ability to write a perfect romcom? I mean seriously, Kiss My Cupcake was a much fun as the title suggests. Blaire and Ronan pick and poke, tease and annoy, prank and set-up each other, you just feel the sexual tension simmering under it all. Through it, they get to know each other, and the friendly rivalry starts, and then the friendly to each other, and finally, ahem, really friendly. It all built up so easily, so steadily, and it had me smiling almost the entire time. Yes, there were a few times tears came to my eyes, but that was how much I cared about these two. If they were sad, I was sad. If they were upset, I was upset. When their family made them mad, or made them embarrassed, or did their own good natured teasing, I giggled along. Blaire and Ronan made the other believe in love, believe in fate, believe in finding and having your soul mate, and I believed in all those things right along with them, because I got to see it happen to them!
Outstanding!
Helena Hunting grabbed my attention from the beginning and I finished the book in one sitting! The writing was superb and the storyline was realistic. Throughout Kiss My Cupcake there was humor, romance, disappointment and hope. It had the perfect recipe for a 5 star review!
Can money buy you everything? No! But love, faith and determination can lead you to a life of appreciation and happiness! I adored these characters and I, hands down, loved the epilogue!
All. The. Feels.
Helena Hunting’s Kiss My Cupcake is the perfect blend of sassy and sweet, and is just the sort of delightful romp that we need during this crazy moment in time.
Blaire Calloway has worked her cupcakes off to open her very own cupcakes and cocktail shop. She’s eschewed the help of her bougie (but well-intentioned) family to make her own way. Which is why she’s instantly on alert when Ronan Knight opens his sports bar (replete with axe throwing) right next store. The two engage in some competitive hijinks, continually trying to one-up the other. But when a bigger threat to their businesses comes into play, they reluctantly decide to team up… and that’s when the sparks really start to fly.
As with her previous works, Hunting gives us wit, humor, and a whole lot of heart. Blaire’s quirky, but not in a gimmicky way, and Ronan’s character is just as well sketched. I always enjoy Hunting’s witty, unique banter and her protagonists’ inner monologues. (There are several laugh out loud moments.) She doesn’t give you a stereotypical, run-of-the-mill story; rather, she creates a world that is so well imagined you want to jump right into the pages and live there. (The fact that there’s chemistry in spades doesn’t hurt either.)
This is the perfect novel to indulge in with a deliciously decadent cupcake or a craft beer or both (because, why not?), and is the perfect read to close out this wildly unique summer.
An ARC was generously provided by the author in exchange for my honest (and, in this case, effusive) review.
5 star Kiss My Cupcake by Helena Hunting
A stand alone novel from the very talented Helena Hunting who wove a story that drew me in and held me captivated from the first to the last chapter. I love Ms. Hunting’s style of writing and I found Blaire Calloway and Ronan Knight’s story to be quirky and fun.
I loved how feisty, sassy and determined Blaire was to make her cupcake business a success. There was so much banter and humour within these pages as Blaire and her shop neighbour Ronan go head to head. The relationship that builds between them as their rivalry intensifies led to some laugh out loud moments.
However when big business comes in and threatens both Blaire and Ronan’s blossoming businesses they band together to take them down. The chemistry between them sizzles and the secondary characters were just as entertaining. Ronan’s relationship with his family was heart warming and added an additional layer to the story.
Kiss My Cupcake is a great example of a romantic comedy at it’s best and Helena Hunting continues to make me swoon and laugh, often at the same time.
Read the excerpt through Netgally now I just need to read the rest of Helena words of witt! Ok so the lumberjack brought to mind my childhood watching Monty’s Python’s Flying Circus, & the Lumberjack song.
I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
He’s a lumberjack and he’s OK
He sleeps all night and he works all day
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
I go to the lavatory
On Wednesdays I go shopping and have buttered scones for tea
He cuts down trees, he eat his lunch
He goes to the lavatory
On Wednesdays he goes shopping and has buttered scones for tea
I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I like to press wild flowers
I put on women’s clothing and hang around in bars
He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps
He likes to press wild flowers
He puts on women’s clothing and hangs around in bars
I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
Suspendies and a bra
I wish I’d been a girlie, just like my dear Papa
He cuts down trees, he wears high heels?
Suspendies and a bra?
He’s a lumberjack and he’s OK
He sleeps all night and he works all day
He’s a lumberjack and he’s OK
Sleeps all night and he works all day
Now that the song is stuck in your brain, I can’t wait for the release of this book! And you’re welcome, sorry, not sorry!
