A creative enemies to lover’s romance! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
My first book by Maria Luis but will not be my last. I have heard nothing but awesome things about Maria and reading this book has not disappointment me! I also am in love with a women who had broken barriers and knows her sports. Aspen is a fierce women who knows what she wants and what she is not going to settle for. Dominic is a retired football player who had a rough up bringing that shapes him. Will these two find love? Will these two be able to work through their baggage? Maria does an awesome does a great job of giving it all too us! You will have to read to see what happens with these two!
OMG! I love, love, loved Aspen! She is just the true definition of “I am woman. Hear me roar!” She may have fallen for a true womanizer and fell flat with disappointment in her marriage but she did NOT let it define her! She picked up her big girl panties and fought. She found her way out. Meeting Dom was what she needed to realize that life isn’t worth living if you don’t take chances.
I fell for Dom. He may have put up a fizz-sod on the surface of a man who thinks he is all that and a bag of chips but you just wait until the layers are peeled back! Dom is so swoon worthy and I promise you will fall hard!
These two are a power couple on and off the field. Reading about how they fell in love was AMAZING! I can’t wait for the extended epilogue!!
When Aspen Levi heads back and Dominic DaSilva heads to small town USA, both looking for a fresh start, it’s definitely not to play second fiddle to each other, but after a less than stellar first encounter, that’s exactly what these two are up against as they try to coach a high school football team together with Dom serving as Aspen’s assistant while also fighting their desire to rip each other’s clothes off and finally give into to the insane chemistry that sizzles whenever they’re in the same vicinity.
I adored the way Maria Luis crafted the power struggles between Aspen and Dominic; it’s not often that an retired NFL player gets schooled on the finer points of teamwork and commitment when it comes to the sport he made a career of, but that’s only because they don’t usually find themselves in a subordinate position. It’s not that Dom’s unprepared to lead the charge when it comes to his new job, but contrary to what he believed would happen when he arrives in London, his moniker is not head coach but assistant and that’s a difficult pill to swallow, at least at the beginning and especially because the head coach is not only hometown royalty but also a woman.
Any chance they get, Aspen and Dominic put each other through their paces and boy is it fun to watch. Their banter and snark are always on point and as much as they love to rile each other up, getting them to react in over-the-top ways, it also helps them in getting to know one another and in ultimately taking a chance on each other, which is something neither thought possible after their first run in at The Golden Fleece.
As much as they don’t want to admit it, at least at the beginning of the story, Aspen and Dom work well together; their skillsets complement one another and what they bring to the game on both personal and professional levels is exactly what their team needs and deserves. And I absolutely adore how Dom is there for Topher in ways that his actual father isn’t…I think that’s what made me swoon for Dom the most.
Kiss Me Tonight is a feel good romance that illustrates the importance of good role models, the necessity of learning from one’s mistakes, and the fact that putting yourself in someone’s else’s shoes is essential to truly know where that person is coming from and what that person is dealing with, and as these universal lessons are explored and taught, readers see just how valuable they are for both the high school players and their coaches.
4.5 Poison Apples
Maria did it again. I could not put the book down. The banter between Dom & Aspen will leave you wanting more…so much more. Letting each other in on your vulnerabilities really impacts the interaction between these two. Add in Topher who can make Dom hit a “home run” with his humor. Love how Aspen gets her point across to her ex. He couldn’t have been more deserving. You go girl!! Way to go Dom for trying to take care of your woman. LOVED THE BOOK!! Can’t wait for the next one.
This was cute read and Aspen had me laughing. She was strong willed even when she didn’t think she could be. Dom was everything and at first he has a chip on his shoulder but Aspen quickly puts him in his place and helps realize he needs the town and its people to ground him. They were a great pair and I wanted to punch her ex husband so much. I really enjoyed this book.
Ok so first off let me start off by saying Maria wrote this book so I knew I was going to like *who am I kidding, I knew I would love it, no pressure or anything* But holy crap let me tell you see DID NOT disappoint. I laughed, swooned, and out right cheered/fist pumped at a few scenes.
I’ve been dying for Dom to get a story since Body Check, then getting to know him more in Hold Me Today… Aspen was the perfect ying to his yang.
Aspen and I are going to be best friends *don’t even try to convince me she is fictional I can’t hear you* Me, Aspen, and Mina from HMT we’re going for beer. Aspen is HILARIOUS and a total bad*ss.
The banter between Aspen and Dom made me want to sit back with a bowl of popcorn and see what would happen next. And the slow burn was spot on just like Maria is known to specialize in.
But you also get heart with this book, with both character’s backstories and the struggles they overcome.
You NEED to 1-click this bad boy
Holy moly!!! Kiss Me Tonight is Maria Luis’ best book yet!
Aspen is a totally bad ”behind” female. She is strong and capable and I want her as my friend. I’d totally drink wine and talk kids and hotties in her backyard.
Dom!! Dom is all the swoony swoons and more.
Luis’ writing evolves so much with every book. This world is so encompassing and rich as I say above you can see yourself there. There is so much depth with emotions and characters that are flawed to perfection. The personal experiences that form these people and their struggles are handled with grace and care which just shows how exceptional Luis is as an author. I recommend this book and all of her books.
Maria knocks another one out of the park! I can’t choose who my favorites are I love them all. I loved Dominick and Aspen’s story. Their story had the heat, some snark, trust issues and learning to grow. I enjoyed the frenemies to lovers aspect. Dominick is a real rags to riches story. Aspen is a woman who learns her self-worth the hard way. They learn together to let their issues go and find their happily ever after. I loved when Aspen confronts her ex, it was awesome. I can’t wait for the Savannah’s story and I hope to see the gang get together. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.
Having a ball…
It’s official….I have a new favorite book by Ms. Luis! I loved everything about this story..the plot, characters and emotional roller-coaster. Aspen and Dom were absolutely perfect for each other even if it did take them a little time to figure that out. My only question is “how can Ms. Luis top this story?”. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.
*I received an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
Kiss Me Tonight, the second book in the Put a Ring On It series by Maria Luis, is another outstanding romance with all of the feels that you MUST READ. Aspen Levi, a single mom, superior athlete, and survivor is a heroine worthy of the title in my eyes. She dedicated her entire adult life to being positive and getting out of an unhealthy marriage to make her and her son’s life better. I admire that drive and ambition and have always routed for the underdog.
Even though she is vulnerable, she is so strong and resilient, and moves back to her hometown to become the head coach of the high school football team in London, Maine, and make a fresh start. It’s her family’s legacy and her love of football and knowing the game well led her to misconceptions about our hero in this story, the very beautifully described hot, handsome, and wickedly talented Dominick DaSilva.
Dom, too, is also a survivor and so very vulnerable. Even at 6’6”, the former NFL star with dozens of accolades has never felt unconditional love or support. His childhood is heartbreaking and yet he was determined to make something of himself and become a good man. But the press doesn’t present him that way resulting in people misjudging him even after he has left the spotlight.
They couldn’t be more wrong! Dom is loyal, giving, and loving. He’s sensitive to the needs of others because he knows what it’s like to grow up without a family. He’s a great role model because he wants kids to make good choices and have someone to turn to when they need advice. He’s fun to be around, attentive and very witty! An all-around great guy with awesome abs and reflexes to boot!
He also came to London, Maine to get a fresh start and accepts the Assistant football coach of the same team that Aspen was just hired as head coach. Yep! She is his boss and deservingly so as she also as many accolades under her belt as a female footballer. She lives her life with honor and integrity, has a very generous heart, and is such a positive role model. Dom just adores her and it shows. He is proud of her and lets her know.
What I loved most about this story is that they are in the late 30’s so they have had time to experience life and know what they want and what they don’t. I loved their getting to know one another personally day by day and realizing how much they had in common, including their values, in addition to just being physically drawn to one another. There is lots of build-up and sexual tension that will keep you turning the pages! After shedding their fears, trusting one another, and sharing in many conversations, they find their stride as coaches and become friends, each other’s support system, and eventually lovers. Their chemistry is super hot; they feel a deep emotional connection with one another and can finally feel accepted.
If anyone deserves happiness, it is Dom and Aspen. I wanted them together from their very first hilarious meeting in a bar. Although this review sounds like a drama, there are many, many funny scenes in this book as well. Maria is always so witty and does so effortlessly through her characters.
Aspen’s son, Topher, is also someone who deserved a dad in life, and Dom, while not overstepping, taught him by example of how a relationship should be and let him know in no uncertain terms that he was there for him, too, not just his mom. Maria writes strong characters who are very interesting and people you would want to get to know in real life.
The writing as always with Maria Luis is flawless. The characters flow and grow with each page and you get a real understanding where they are coming from. Although I haven’t read it yet, I am looking forward to the bonus epilogue that the author promises will bring on the steam and more romance!
This book is a standalone, but I was so happy that the characters (Nick Stamos and Mia) from Hold Me Today were also included and will continue in the third book. There is an ongoing storyline of Nick and Dominick, who met and became friends while on a reality dating TV show, and I am hoping the bachelorette in the story, Savannah, gets her own HEA! She obviously didn’t choose Nick or Dom as they are now happily engaged to their significant others, so who will it be? Best of all, if you have KU, Hold Me Today is free!
Stunning romantic comedy gets right to the heart of things!
Aspen is finally – finally! – free from her ex-husband and with her teenage son she returns to her hometown ready to rebuild her life anew. But her plans didn’t include a hulk-sized former NFL player for a neighbor and assistant, nor do they include the sizzling attraction neither of them can deny.
The sparks fly fast and furious in this enchanting rom-com, but the best part of this book is how the author deconstructs her characters right down to their naked hearts, unpacking all the baggage they’ve each carried for so long they don’t even feel its weight anymore. The emotional honesty is tangible and visceral, making this a book you’ll feel deep down far longer than it takes to read the story.
Aspen, Topher, and Dom are all wonderfully layered characters who beautifully fit together. The story is instantly engaging (with one of the best opening lines ever!) and captivating throughout. You’ll swoon for Dom, cheer for Aspen, and by the time you get to the HEA, you’ll feel like a part of the winning team. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
How I wish I could give a book more than 5 stars.
Kiss Me Tonight put me through so many emotions. I was laughing, I was saying omg that did not just happen, I blushed, I swooned… boy did I swoon! I hated on a person (no spoilers here), I smiled, I cheered and I cried (Happy tears) and I loved every! Single! Second! Of it.
I did not want this book to end. Aspen and Dominic have wormed their way into my heart and I am not letting them go.
Do yourself a favour buy this book, read this book and love this book. You will not regret it!
I feel like I’ve been waiting on this book for years!! I might be a tad dramatic…in reality it’s only been 4 months. Buuuuut you know what’s not dramatic? My love for ALL things Maria Luis. Kiss Me Tonight blew all my expectations. It is emotional. It is deep. It is heartbreaking. It is real. Dom is not your typical alpha hero. Even though he acts otherwise, he feels everything so deeply, but because of his past, he doesn’t know how to express any of it. Aspen is one of my top heroines of all time. First of all, she was a female college football player, poised to be drafted by the NFL! She’s a freaking badass, and she is just so SAVAGE!! I wish I could be as witty and quick with comebacks as she is. Dom and Aspen are so similar which allows them to connect on a level they’ve never found with anyone else. One thing I would ask for more of? Topher and Dom. Their interactions were hella fun.
I can’t wait to see what comes in the finale of this series! I feel like even though we know who the hero is there is still so much secrecy around it that I’m already on the edge of my seat.
Kiss Me tonight is the second book in the Put a Ring on It Series and I couldn’t wait to receive it. It can be read as a standalone, but Book 1 was so good, if you haven’t already read it, you will definitely want to. I have read every book that Maria has written and I have truly loved every single one. Kiss me Tonight did not disappoint.
It is the story of Aspen Levi a high school football head coach and Dominic DaSilva, an ex NFL player.
I love sports books, but this book had a unique story line. In addition to the sports theme, the book touched on single mothering, an emotionally abusive ex-husband, foster children and kids needing help. As I usually do in Maria’s books, I loved the characters. She has such a talent for creating interesting characters and there is always fantastic chemistry and banter between the characters. There is a perfect balance of humor, romance and drama to keep you so engrossed in the story that I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. I was sorry to see it end because I really wanted more of Aspen and Dom.
I highly recommend this book as well as any of Maria’s other books.
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review
Maria has done it again! She has written another amazing book in the Put A Ring On It series! I loved it!
It has all the feels! It had me laughing one minute and crying the next! Aspen and Dom were perfect together! The banter between them was very entertaining! If you love a wonderful romance KISS Me Tonight is the one you want! I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I had to read this book twice. At first I thought it was my post surgery oxy codone that had me laughing like a fool or was Kiss Me Tonight really that funny. When I say I couldn’t put this book down, when I reread I balanced my kindle on my walker so I could continue to read during my physical therapy sessions. Dom and Aspen are stellar characters. Maria has the unusual talent to make you care about the characters in her books..whether they are police officers, hockey players or football players. Her banter is realistic and never stilted, this book made the reader run a gamut of emotions. To quote a very old movie title…I had an excellent adventure reading this book. I voluntarily received an arc for a fair and honest review.
Kiss Me Tonight is the second book in the ‘Put A Ring On It’ series by Maria Luis. It’s fun and sexy read, both Dom and Aspen were hilarious in this. Their banter was so spot on it made my cheeks sore from smiling and laughing. It’s a slow burner so there’s a lot of it in the run up to the inevitable clinch. But, it’s not all sunshine and roses, there’s some sadness too, with each of them having a back story that will make you feel for them.
Dom is a complex man, he’s been badly portrayed as a womanizer by the media, but that’s not who he is. Not really. He’s got a soft spot for kids that makes his perfect for single mom Aspen. These two are meant to be. I’m so glad I got to read this wonderful story and you will be too. Grab your copy today and find out why.
Take two characters who are trying to recover from some nasty hits in life, throw them into some seriously embarrassing situations, and what do you get? You get the roller coaster of craziness and emotion that is Kiss Me Tonight. I laughed and cried my way through this one.
I absolutely loved Aspen. I want to be her best friend. She is honorable and brave and insightful and hilarious. Her compassion is limitless, but she is also a tough coach. These qualities make her the perfect match for Dominic. He needs some compassion and honor in his life. In return, he brings Aspen some serious heat. They are an excellent pair, and I loved watching them fall in love.
Dominic and Levi- wow! I loved this book! Maria Luis gives all the feels. I laughed, I cried, I felt love and wanted more. Levi is back in her hometown after a divorce and now coaching. She is a single mom to Topher. I love the relationship with her and her teenage son.
Dominic has decided to go to Maine after losing his job- to coach high school football and guess who the head coach is: Levi!!! I love watching him open up and be honest with himself and Levi. No spoilers but when he asks Levi to take a swim- its’s probably one of the best book lines EVER!!!!
There is so much to way about this book but I’ll keep it simple: READ IT- you get humor, honesty, the willingness to fight for love and when you are done- you’ll want to love those around you just a little it more. This book is fabulous!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Aspen and Dominic are a match made in heaven – they just have to figure out to not hate each other… Such a lovely story containing all the heartbreak of an abused wife and a neglected child put into fostercare… I loved this one quite a lot as it’s a result for finding love – even when you never believed in it any more..
