What do you do when you’re the reigning kissing booth champion but the only person you want to kiss is your best friend’s brother?
Let me make this clear right here, right now: I, Halley Dawson, do not care that Preston Wright is kissing other women. Not a lick. Not at all. Nuh-uh-freakin’-uh.I do care that he’s doing it six feet away from me behind a gaudy velvet curtain–making him my … behind a gaudy velvet curtain–making him my competition in this year’s kissing contest.
Why do I care, you ask? Because I’ve had an unfortunate crush on the insufferable idiot since I was sixteen years old, but I also know it’s never going to happen.
He’s the Creek Falls bachelor to die for, and I’m the Creek Falls racoon lady who puts peanut butter sandwiches out for them every night.
I’m not going to let him break my four-year-long reign–no matter how many times he breaks the rules and slides the curtain across to do the one thing he’s not allowed to:
Kiss me.

Emma Hart never fails to entertain me. I have read several of her books this year alone and none of those have left me feeling empty. Her books are always funny, quirky and very entertaining. And Kiss Me Not is no different. It’s a best friends brother rom-com that will have you laughing in no time. It’s full of wily little animals and undeniable attraction, and bets and I can’t forget a kissing booth.
Halley Dawson is our heroine, and for all intents and purposes she a nerd who isn’t afraid to be who she is and loves giving back to the community. But she has a problem, a crush that she’s been having is never too far from her mind. But this year the fair changes all that. She’s the reigning kissing booth champion but now she has a little competition, but it’s with Preston, one of her best friends brother. Her unobtainable crush.
She’s not eager to watch her crush kiss other women, but that doesn’t stop her from making wagers and calling bets against Preston. What she doesn’t know is that he returns her feelings.
“Apparently, I liked the bookish girl with an affinity for snarky comebacks.”
When two go head to head and start spending more time together all bets are off because they find themselves wanting to kiss only each other. All they’re feeling toward each other only progresses.
“And his kiss – oh, my God, it was the kind of kiss people wrote poems about.”
Yep, apparently Preston is the master of kisses. But is he going to be the master of her heart? How will their story end? More importantly, who wins the bet? Nah, I am just kidding. Are these two meant to be or is this just an attraction they need to scratch?
I highly recommend this book, because it’s full of things the world needs more of ; laughs and wit and love. If you need a change of pace with your regular reading, then pick up Kiss Me Not. Heck, I recommend any of Emma’s books. None of them have ever failed to deliver exactly what they say.
This book had me laughing out loud and was so good for my soul. Hailey and Preston are two fabulous characters who you can feel the tension from the beginning of the story. I truly loved this story line which I found to be an original and the characters felt like people I would befriend in real life.
*4.5 Stars*
This was so cute and hilarious! I love the best friend’s brother trope and this was so perfect with very little drama and a whole lot of laughs!
Halley Dawson has been the reigning kissing booth champion for the past four years. This year however, she has truly met her match with her “sworn” enemy, Preston Wright. He’s the town hunk and every girl with a pulse wants him. He’s also determined to end Halley’s reign. She’s had a crush on Preston for years and listening to him kiss other girls is not high on her list of things she enjoys. Things get even more complicated for these two when their chemistry and banter turn into the fact they’d rather be kissing each other rather than the line of people trying to help raise money for charity in exchange for a kiss.
With a heroine who’s full of sass, quirks, and spunk, a hero who’s swoony and sweet, and a full cast of characters who will have you laughing your butt off this read was everything I wanted in a romantic comedy!
I’m so excited that we get two more books in this world and I can’t wait!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
I received a copy of ‘Kiss Me Not’ in exchange for an honest review. I love Emma Hart’s books for the romantic comedy and sassy female heroines, so this book was exactly what I was looking for.
Halley Dawson is reigning champion of the kissing booth of her towns annual fair. She is back to defend her title, and is determined to raise more money than ever for the local hospice.
But when her kissing competitor is announced, she is less than thrilled to find its her best friends brother Preston Wright, and the guy who she has had the longest crush on. But Halley is determined to save face by being forced to hear him kiss other girls, and wagers bets that she is determined and motivated to win.
But what happens when the kissing booth contenders want to kiss each other, and who will be the overall champion?
I absolutely loved the premise of this book, it was fresh and I haven’t read anything similar. I love how Hart makes all her characters super relatable and at times inappropriately funny with their sarcasm and wit.
This book had lots of sweet moments, and lots to make a die hard romance fan like myself page turning. It was a fun and easy read, and Preston is certainly a good book boyfriend!
I’d recommend to other romance readers and people who want to get immersed in a modern series with addictive characters.
I adore Emma Hart and every one of her books have me rolling. Kiss Me Not does not disappoint. I love Halley and Preston. Ava and Reagan, Preston’s sister are just as comical as Halley. This book came out just when I needed a dose of comedy in my life. Everyone has their quirks but Halley’s is a bit odd. How many people take care of a family of raccoons? She even named them and took them to the vet! Those quirks are what makes her character relatable and adored by the reader.
Halley Dawson is the reigning queen of the town’s annual Kissing Booth, a four year reign by the way. This year, the mayor has decided to change things up and find Halley some actual competition–Preston Wright. Preston is not only the town’s most eligible bachelor but her best friend’s older brother. Oh and she’s has a crush on him since she was 16. But that’s not going to stop Halley from beating Preston. She always wins her bets. Never lost one yet.
Preston knows he should tell the mayor no when he called. Being that close to Halley is dangerous. He suspects his sister knows about his secret crush on her best friend, Reagan doesn’t say anything. Which that of itself is a shock. Reagan, Ava, and Halley are three women not to be trifled with. Loud, sassy, and in Halley’s case sexy as hell. Perhaps this is his window of opportunity with Halley. He needs to at least try. That’s why he makes the bet with Halley. He knows that the three girls are constantly betting with each other over stupid things. If he wins, he can finally kiss Halley and either get her out of his system or fall head over heels in love with her. After all, what can go wrong when kissing tons of women while pining after the one kissing the same amount of men?
Hailey the librarian, the mayors daughter, and Preston the bachelor!!!! I LOVED THEM!!!! Sass, romance, wit, hilarity!!!! This book had it all!!! I applaud you, Emma Hart!!!! This book has made it onto my permanent “to be re-read” list!!!! I may just cheat, and read it again now!!!!! Yep… I believe I will. Y’all go one click this book, while I dive back in!!!!
There was no part of this sweet, best friends’ brother, small town romance that wasn’t FUN. It was the best kind of slow burn, the most wonderful little world packed with great characters, snarky dialogue and it left me with the feeling that if I could fall into a fictional place, I’d really love it here. Halley and I are soul sisters in our weirdness, and I’d love to hang out with her friends! And raccoons. Of course the raccoons!
Halley and Preston competing against one another in the town’s annual kissing booth for the fair is an interesting set-up, but fun to watch play out. Their romantic tension is top notch and the slow burn to their romance intense. Just a great, sweet, fun romance all the way around!
Recommend!
This is Book 1 in the “Kiss Me” Series and as always the wit, humour and a great time while reading this book are a sure bet when we read something by Emma Hart. This time is no exception.
There is a kissing booth. Halley is the champion. She has been for the last four years. But this summer Preston decides that he wants to beat Halley. And he is the hottest bachelor in town. Everybody has a crush on him, including Halley of course!!
Great read! Highly entertaining!!! I loved it!!!
Emma Hart doesn’t disappoint when it comes to fun and sexy stories! Kiss Me Not is no exception!
Kiss Me Not was a funny, laugh out loud story from Emma Hart. Halley and Preston’s story was another hilarious story telling from Emma Hart that had me laughing uncontrollably and reading on for more. She always guarantees to bring heat, angst and some sassy, snarky heroines to counter the hot alpha males she brings to life as well as leaving me smiling at the end.
Halley is the fiesty, quirky, librarian whose the reigning Queen of the Kissing booth in Creek Falls; until Preston her rich, hunky long time crush becomes her competition. This was a fun, sweet read that had me smiling and laughing from beginning to end with the witty banter between all characters that I was not ready for this story to end!
Halley likes to win and make bets. She is the reigning champion of the kissing both at the local fair. This year she is wondering who her competition will be when in walks her longtime crush Preston.
Frustrated at the prospect of listening to her crush kiss other women makes her more determined to win this competition. Preston and Halley both claim they don’t like each other but is it because they really do like each other?
Definitely one-click this hilarious read. The wit and silliness alone will win you over.
4.5 stars for Halley and Preston !!!
After a few emotionally exhausted books, I’ve read the new book by Emma Hart which was, as always, so funny and I enjoyed reading it .
If you’re looking for a book which makes you laugh on every page and you obsessed with brother’s best friend trope, this is a perfect book !

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
The idea of this story was a good one. Best friends brother, kissing booth champion taking him on and some underlying feelings the other doesn’t know about.
There are some sweet and fun times once Halley finally lets go of her overly snarky attitude towards Preston, and things get a bit deeper between them. Preston is a really nice guy and easily likeable.
With some fun best friends as secondary characters, they add a little bit to the story as well.
There is also good setup for the next book which I’m quite looking forward to based on what we glimpsed in this one.
Easy to read, another good instalment from Emma Hart.
4.5 Stars for Kiss Me Not book 1 in the new Kiss Me Series.
A fun entertaining easy read to start a new series with and if this book is anything to go by this author will have yet another hit series that readers will be clambering to read. This is a very funny read with great characters who share plenty of witty banter and as always this author gives us enough of the secondary characters to leave us hoping and wishing they all get their own stories.
Halley is the Mayors daughter but that doesn’t mean she has to conform she lives her own life in her own quirky way and that’s what draws Preston to her. Preston is a man you will fall for he is so much bigger than your average hero in so many ways, he will make you laugh he will make you swoon and he will leaving you sighing and wanting more.
This may be a quick read but don’t be fooled by that, this story will captivated and draw you in and it’s certainly a novella all rom com lovers will want to read
So so funny there was so much wit and banter between Halley and Preston it’s almost impossible not to read this book and instantly fall in love with them this isn’t the type of Trope I usually go for but I knew this author was going to hit it out of the park and I was not disappointed summer sadly is coming to an end and this book is the perfect send off
Yay!!!! *twirls* An Emma Hart book!! I know it hasn’t been THAT long but it seriously feels like forever since the last time I fell into a Hart romance. Hart writes some of the funniest and realest RomComs in the genre. I always see a few pieces of myself in her characters. Perhaps this is why I always love them so much! Halley is this fun little spitfire and Preston is the all-American swooniest of best friends brothers!
Emma Hart throws in all her trademark humor and witty, laugh out loud banter. Halley and Preston had an insane amount of chemistry together. I felt the pull… and they did too! They’ve resisted said pull for as long as they can remember. Sometimes it just takes some healthy competition, a bit of wagers, and a kissing booth to get the sparks going off in ton a full out fire! Besides the love interests, let me just gush on the trio of besties… Halley, Ava, and Reagan (Preston’s sister). These three were just off the charts! I adored their antics. Eek! I just had so much fun reading this! The light and comedic fun is so desperately needed sometimes!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
You do not want to miss the latest from Emma Hart! From the unique setting at the county fair to the quirkiness of both Halley and Preston, this book is a winner. I love how the author manages to create characters who are thoroughly real – their idiosyncrasies add to their attraction. I also liked how the whole book was a slow burn, both for the characters and the reader, which made the inevitable that much sweeter. For more thoughts on this 5-star book, please visit my blog at Fireflies and Free Kicks Fiction Reviews. This review was written based on a complimentary, pre-release, digital ARC of the book.
Gah, so this isn’t my normal g0-to romance. I normally go for some that are a little more intense, and darker. This was a sweet, fun, cute rom-com.. and truthfully I don’t mind rom-com’s but it is not often I will find one that grabs at me and makes me want to re-read it. Well, I found that with this one. Emma’s way with words is flawlessly and it did leave me wanting to read more and read it again in the near future.
This cute funny little gem was based on two main characters Preston and Halley and a few secondary characters that I adored just as much as I did with the two mains.
Halley is the daughter of Mayor of their small town. She is an animal lover, a librarian, and the champion many times over at the kissing booth at their town fair. She has two best friends Reagan and Ava. These three are inseparable. It was adorable! This year with the kissing both, she is up against Reagan’s brother Preston, a guy she has had a crush on for the longest time and he feels the same way, neither of them has acted on it… So while being so close together during this competition, she isn’t too eager to have to watch this guy kissing other girls, both to make it like she doesn’t care, she starts putting bets on the competition… Making wagers. Sparks do start to fly with these two, even more, and the chemistry between them builds and builds and this crush they both have on each other only intensified as the book progresses. But what will the end result be? Who will win? Will they finally take a chance on each other? Or will they ignore what is staring them both in the face? That they are meant to be?
I loved how the author adds in the secondary characters and makes them a big part of this story too. The girls’ friendship was fun, funny and I adored the hell out of it, maybe even more than I adored Preston and Halley… however I was smitten with those two also. I loved this. As I said, it wasn’t a normal kind of read for me… But I took a chance and I am thrilled a did. It was a change of pace and definitely something I will go back and re-read if I need a light-hearted, fun and laugh-out-loud rom-com.
If you love a good rom-com filled with laughs, chemistry off the charts, wit, quirky and quick read, this book is for you! It is a feel-good kind of read and that’s exactly what it did, it made me feel good!!
5 Stars!
This was my first Emma Hart’s book. I love the cover! This is a Romantic Comedy, and best friend’s brother (Reagan’s older brother). Preston and Halley’s story is a fun and sweet. They are both great characters. Halley is fun and sassy. Preston is handsome and charming. The secondary characters are also great. I love the friendship between Halley and her best friends, Ava and Reagan. The storyline is original. The Kissing Booth fundraiser is a fun idea. The Epilogue is hilarious and intriguing, and I can’t wait to read, Kiss Me Tonight, Reagan’s story. I also want to read The Accidental Girlfriend, Lauren and Mason’s story.
So much freaking fun wrapped up in this book I could not put it down! Yea, I’ve said that before but Sunday was the day I picked this one up and read it page one through to the end and the only break was when I moved outside for a change of scenery. LOVED IT. The snark, the witty comments, the banter! Halley, the reigning kissing champion and she is not going to be overthrown by anyone, let alone Preston, her secret crush and the town’s most eligible bachelor. These two are so much fun and I highly recommend this book! I really am looking forward to the next book in this series!
