I’m so glad that Tyler and Layla have their own story. I liked them as secondary characters in ‘Kiss Me in the Moonlight’ and love them as the hero/heroine in this story. Of course, it doesn’t go well for them at first. They learn the meaning of – timing is everything.
The drama of the story is not only if Tyler and Layla will get their happily ever after, it is also about how can Layla’s family plantation and business be in jeopardy. Where is all the money going? It is a really good storyline that keeps you invested. My only negative is a personal preference one. I am not a fan of family members especially parents manipulating and using guilt against other family members and children. I found it upsetting but, in the context of the story it makes perfect sense and the HEA makes up for it in the end.
I recommend this book and look forward to the others in this new series.
This was an interesting story. Two people from different backgrounds find a way to be together and love each other. They trusted each other enough to be honest when things got down to it. Layla was intelligent, loyal to her family, and loved her home. Tyler gave up everything to follow his dreams and to reconnect with Layla. They made a wonderful supportive young couple. I recommend this story. Karly Hutchins did a great job with the audiobook narration.
I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
A heartwarming well written clean romance story. This engaging storyline was a suspenseful story full of intriguing twists and turns with obstacles creating tension. The characters are well developed and interesting keeping me addicted page after page with the narration perfectly adding to the mystery and romance with perfect spacing.
Magnificent Mansions
Original review (September 2017): The protagonists in this novel were secondary characters in the previous novel in this series but simply knowing they’d met before is sufficient for the plot in this book, which is practically gothic. Dad wants Layla to marry the son of a friend to save the homestead–which, in this case, is an antebellum mansion (or two). Unraveling the mystery puts her whole family at risk. And meanwhile, what about love? Can the somewhat spoiled heiress find true love and happiness? I raced right through this to find out!
Almost one year later: Yee Haw! The AUDIOBOOK is here and was even more fun than simply reading, thanks to Karly Hutchins’ delightful narration. Kentucky and South Carolina accents are present but not belabored and this page turner remains captivating.
I loved this first book in the Destined for Romance: Mansions series. It was great to read Layla and Tyler’s story. (I met them in Kiss Me in the Moonlight.) This story is well written. The mansion is practically a character in the book. There is mystery and romance. As usual for me with any book of Lindzee Armstrong, I could not put it down. I tried twice and gave in to just finishing it tonight! I highly recommend this book..
As enjoyable as every other romantic Lindzee Armstrong book. Nicely written, and follows on from her contribution to the Destined for Love: Europe collection. A great character study that leaves us cheering for strong women and loving men. A great read. I received an ARC and voluntarily reviewed.
Kiss Me in the Rain is a part of two different series. It’s a sequel to Kiss Me in the Moonlight from the Destined for Love: Europe series and a part of the Destined for Love: Mansions. This book has all sorts of situations, like missing money, fake engagement and party, embezzlement mysteries, event planning messes, remodeling, blackmail and misunderstandings. Even with all that, there’s humor and friendship and kisses in the rain. I really loved this story. One I definitely recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a great sweet read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that it had dual POVs. I didn’t read the first book involving Nick and Paige but I didn’t feel like I had to. The mystery involved was great. It took me some time to figure it out. I highly recommend this book if you love a sweet wonderful romance.
Short review. ARC review. Romance with mystery. In this book we follow Tyler and Layla from the book Kiss Me in the Moonlight, this is more than a second chance love story, there was betrayal and mystery too. Tyler and Layla are wonderful characters and a sweet couple that you’ll want to get there HEA.
Kiss Me in the Rain is the first book in the Destined for Romance: Mansions series by Lindzee Armstrong. This continues with some of the characters that were in Kiss Me In the Moonlight (which was a 5 star read itself).
This is a true love story and mystery of sorts built around the old south.Layla’s parents own a large property a plantation of sorts that they use for weddings and events. She has always helped out and lent a hand. But in the summer she went off and chaperoned a group of teens in Europe. While there it appears life back home moved on rather sideways.
Tyler oh Tyler. He is like a dog with a bone. He has been circling around pretty Layla all summer long but never got the nerve up to ask her out to tell her he liked her. Closest she came to letting him know was telling him he could always find a job with her parents company as a bartender should he decided to ‘come by for a visit’. So should she be surprised that she sees him at the first big event she attends once she is back home? BUT wait there is so much more …That big event is not just an event but she get hoodwinked into dating one of her dad’s friend’s just divorced son’s. And that son’s father does something BIG BOLD and UnForgivable that Night that Almost just almost sends Tyler back overseas.
Grab this book and check it out. It is really well worth the time!!
