From bestselling author Ella Fields comes an all-new, turbulent, new adult romance.Dashiell Thane wasn’t a nice guy.He was an abrasive, demanding, conniving, intolerable brat. Yet somehow, we’d been best friends our whole lives. Until our senior year when I finally decided to dip my toes into the dating pool. All it took was one kiss for jealousy, lies, and betrayal to sweep in and propel us … to sweep in and propel us heart first into dizzying, hostile depths.
You’re not supposed to kiss your best friend.
You’re definitely not supposed to kiss your best friend while you’re dating someone else.
And the absolute worst thing you could do is fall for your best friend.
Unless, of course, you want to ruin everything.

Peggy attends the party with her girlfriends and almost kisses Bryon but she has an attack of the sinuses.
I freaking loved this book. It was my first of Ms. Fields I’d read but certainly not my last
Dash and Peggy were my favorite characters.
Kiss and Break Up was a brilliantly written delicious angst fest full of high school teenage drama, bad decisions, first love, and betrayal.
Ella Fields is my go-to author for an angsty read guaranteed to shred my heart to pieces before putting it back together again.
Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to I just couldn’t connect to the characters as much as I usually do with this authors books.
But this is solely based on the fact that the characters were just too young for my personal taste.
More YA age range than NA.
Nonetheless, the storyline is compelling and I highly recommend it!
I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
After reading the masterpiece that is Bloodstained Beauty, I thought that I was prepared for whatever magnificence Ella Fields blessed us with next, but I was so wrong. I am astounded by the genius it takes to give us that dark deliciousness and then turn around and offer this utterly delightful confection of emotions and teenaged angsty realness. Kiss and Break Up is everything I love about New Adult – it is sexy, innocent, emotion filled, hopeful, drama-fueled, and heart-warming. Peggy and Dash are a testament to how masterful Ella Fields is at creating characters that are compelling, nuanced, and real. There were moments when I wanted to shake the crap out of both characters and other parts where I could not help the massive smile on my face, or the tears that streamed down my cheeks. I’ve come to learn not to start one of Ella Fields’ books without being fully prepared to run the gamut of emotions and experience a soul cleansing level catharsis – and Kiss and Break Up is no exception. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Dash was Peggy’s best friend since their diaper years. But Dash wasn’t really that charming boy next door kind of guy. He was sort of an annoying friend – he’s demanding, scheming and a brat. Yet, she was her best friend since forever.
But that will change Senior Year when Peggy decided to date someone. Someone who wasn’t afraid with Dash and was brave enough to ask her out.
Dash didn’t really realize he could lose Peggy until his best friend told him that she has a date. It took one kiss between the two of them that took their friendship into a massive roller coaster ride. Will their friendship survive? Will they get to the next step?
I had a love-hate relationship with Dash. He’s an a**, most of the time. But he has his moments. It was amazing to see him vulnerable and that he can be sensitive at times. One thing is for sure though, he is a great friend to Peggy and has been in love with her for a long time, only to finally confirm it now. Will he convince her before she falls in love with another man?
Peggy was easy to like. She’s a nice girl who is finally getting her shot in dating. But how can she get herself 100% into a relationship when her best friend is getting the front seat? She was afraid of taking the risk with their friendship. Will Dash be worth it?
I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun, frustrating at times. There was already chemistry between the both of them. I love how their relationship evolved. It wasn’t easy – there were so much bumps and misunderstanding, but the both of them made it. Friendship is still the best foundation of love. If you like something sweet and fun, this one is worth the read!
This book will steal Your heart.
This books will take Your breath away.
This book will crush You.
This book will leave You in mega book hangover for days!!!!
Yes, feel warned !!!!! Because when You’ll take this book to Your hands there will be no way back. YOU’ll fall in love with Dash and Peggy immediately and MRS Fields writting style.
I feel charmed by this author and her characters. Ella Fields didn’t just write a book, she created masterpiece !!!! I haven’t read this book, I’ve consumed every word that she gave me in Kiss and Break Up. This STORY is truly amazing, and for sure, from this “I won’t put it down” kind.
From the first pages I was sucked compeletely in Dash and Peggy’s story. They made me laugh, they made me cry, they made me mad too….. sometimes. But I will and for sure I had forgive them already, because their book is LIFE !!!
Kiss and Break Up is everything what I like to have in romances. Story line is pure gold in our bookish world, Dash and Peggy have amazing chemistry between them. All things that happen makes this book very, very interesting.
Mrs Ella Fields can be sure now – Me and her books are new pals.
Highly recomended title !!!
Peggy and Dash (Dashiell) have been best friends since they were babies. Their moms used to be best friends, so it was only natural their two children were close. From the start, Dash was pushy and unbelievably rude and obnoxious, but there was just something about him that Peggy loved. And so it goes their whole lives into high school. Then Peggy starts changing and Dash is quite unhappy about it. He’s noticed her beauty forever now, but never made a move, but behind her back had made it known to all the other boys around that Peggy was his and for them to stay away. Until a guy started pushing back and making moves on Peggy. What’s a cocky asshole like Dash to do when faced with losing the only person he loves? Well, Dash does Dash and acts like the jackass he is, and things change between him and Peggy.
Then there’s a whole lotta teenager-ish angst, some tears, lots of heightened emotions, and finally, finally, Dash and Peggy settle into their new relationship.
“It was too much. She was too much. Too much of everything I’d never known I’d need.”
But that’s when it ends, and I gotta say I wasn’t very happy about the ending because it was a bit abrupt and didn’t give the definitive HEA that I wanted for these two. I would love it if Ella Fields were to write a followup because their relationship had been so volatile until the end that I have a feeling their future isn’t exactly set in stone. Aside from the incomplete feeling I got at the end, though, I loved Kiss and Break Up. It’s fun and entertaining, and Peggy and Dash have one of those relationships that we can all relate to, even long after we’ve grown out of our teenaged selves. Dash was an obnoxious douche, but he was lovable in his own way, and Peggy was definitely the teen girl all us women once were.
I don’t have enough words to describe how much I loved this book. Kiss and Break Up was an intense, emotionally captivating, engrossing novel I just could not put down. This YA story held my interest from start to finish and I loved every moment of it. Love, friendship, heartbreak, and betrayal, this story had it all and then some.
Dashiell and Peggy, best friends since childhood, an unlikely pair yet they were perfect together.
These two lit up the pages of this story with their chemistry and banter. Their steamy scenes just took everything to another level and their heart-breaking emotional banter upped the angst level in this novel. You will be taken on an emotional roller-coaster ride throughout this novel.
The secondary characters all added balance and support to the main characters yet they also had their own dramas happening which added to the storyline.
This page-turner was a phenomenal read worthy of more than 5 stars. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to all lovers of YA romances.
Oh the good ol’ high school days… the angst and drama. What can top that?! Oh how about falling in love with your best friend? Peggy and Dash were amazing besties. They’ve known each other since birth and they have this relationship that just always is… until it’s more. Then it’s. Bit of a mess. Their friendship might have been smooth and easy but nothing about their love is easy. It’s a mess… a cluster… a drama-induced haze of hatred and lust. Gosh, to be a senior in high school again (sigh!!).
Ella Fields is insanely creative. Her writing is intense and powerful. In Kiss and Break Up she gave us some of the best and most interesting characters. I’m hoping we get to revisit Magnolia Cove. There are quite a few secondary characters I’d like to know more about. Let me tell ya, I hated… no, I loathed high school so the thought of returning makes me ill. But this is nothing like my high school days. Oh no, this is so much worse!! Get me outta here! This is one of the reasons I poured through the pages so very quickly. Miss Fields pulls out all the stops and you don’t want to miss a word!!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
3.5 stars.
Welp. I don’t know how I feel about Kiss and Break Up. I stayed up late reading; I couldn’t put it down. But after a solid seven hours of sleep, I still couldn’t decide what I thought.
Here’s my bullet list of polarizing thoughts (and thus, my dilemma):
-Dash is kind of an asshole.
-But he’s 17 – weren’t we all assholes back then?
-It’s kind of sweet (in a possessive, controlling way) how he didn’t want Peggy to date other guys.
-But double standard – he hooks up with other girls?
-Queen B, you love friends-to-lovers trope, especially when they grow up together.
I was so invested in the story and how it would end. I suppose that’s kudos to Ella Fields. She got me interested in characters I didn’t even like or connect with. Overall, I enjoyed this read, but perhaps not as much as I had hoped to. Definitely open to reading more from Ella Fields!
Ella Fields is such an awesome surprise… I’m a wee bit embarrassed because this is the first time I’m reading anything from her, like ever… I didn’t know what to expect but boy was I glad that I received an email about reviewing this one.
This story is in a high school setting… about first kisses, first loves, complicated relationships, etc.
The falling in love with your childhood best-friend storyline isn’t something I haven’t read before but I really enjoyed it… Yeah sure there were times when I wanted to slap someone silly but it’s high school! It should be somewhat predictable and corny and swoony and cute… I devoured it page after page and I’ve practically forgone eating.
To the fans of Tijan, Allie Everhart and LJ Shen… ya’ll definitely enjoy this book!
Ahh, young love! Reckless, confusing, heartbreaking, wild, dramatic, passionate, and absolutely beautiful!! It’s one of my favorite things to read about. Best friends to lovers is also one of my favorite tropes, so when I saw this book combined both of those things, I knew I had to put it on my tbr immediately. Who am I kidding? When I saw Ella Fields wrote a new book, I knew I had to read it as soon as humanly possible, but the fact that this was the content was a damn good bonus!
Dash and Peggy have been best friends since the day Dash demanded it when they were in preschool. He was her constant companion and protector whether she wanted it or not. Peggy reluctantly allowed it after realizing resistance was futile. Thankfully, he grew on her, and they developed a strong friendship comprised of video games, gummy candy, and Dash sneaking into Peggy’s window on a regular basis.
Cocky, hot, bold, rich, and kind of an asshole, Dash is the wealthy bad boy every girl wants and plenty of them have had, but none of them are allowed the chance to keep. One and done and on to the next, Dash never gives any girl more than a good time and an orgasm or two. The only girl he’s ever attached himself to in any capacity is Peggy.
It’s their senior year of high school, and Peggy still wonders what her first real kiss will be like. She wants to know what it feels like to fall in love for the first time or even to have her heart broken. For some reason, it’s just never happened for her, so when a boy finally shows real interest in her, she is a little nervous and self conscious over her inexperience. Dash offers to let her practice kissing on him, and that is when Peggy’s relationship with her best friend begins to get really complicated. Who knew one little kiss could change everything?
Kiss and Break Up is an angsty NA romance that gave me all the feels! I predicted that would be the case before I even laid eyes on the first page though, because Ella is a master at getting every single emotion out of you no matter what kind of story she writes. She is the kind of author that rips out your heart and makes you want to thank her for it. One minute, you’re throwing your kindle across the room and the next, you’re hugging it to your chest with tears rolling down your face.
Dash made me swoon, want to curse him out, straight up murder him, and have his babies all in the same damn book! That shit takes talent, and this author has it in spades. I am always blown away by her work, and this was no exception.
If you’re a fan of Ella Fields, cocky bad boys, the best friends to lovers trope, and/or NA romance in general, this is the book for you!
This book…..where does one start? I did not want this book to end, I needed more of their love story. I am hoping we get a follow up book or novella to get a peek at their relationship as lovers because if it is anything like their friendship it is going to be epic!!! I also am hoping that their friends get books because there was a lot going on in the background of this book and I want more of that as well. Dashiell and Peggy Sue grew up together and are best friends, and he always looked out for her. Best Friends always have each others back so Dash decided to help Peggy with her experience in dating boys and ending up falling for her. Peggy ended up confused and insufferably stubborn. Dash was persistent and sometimes a complete a$$ but it worked for him and he had me from the beginning with his brooding don’t give a f$#k attitude. It took some major events to occur in order for the two of them to figure out they loved one another. There were times I wanted to smack the backside of their heads for being so stubborn. But in the end it was Dash and Peggy from best friends to forever. Please Ella Fields give us more Dashiell and Peggy Sue!!!!!
I really enjoyed Kiss and Break up. I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the YA genre, but Ella really kills it in the YA department.
Dash and Peggy have been best friends forever. From the start you can tell that Dash is super protective of his closest friend. He’s a take no shit type of guy, and I loved that the most when it came to his character. I mean who doesn’t love a protective asshole? I know I do.
Peggy’s character was adorable. She’s a girl who is blind to her own beauty. She’s quirky in her own way, and though she’s a senior in hs, she’s super inexperienced. One thing leads to another and her and Dash’s friendship starts to blur. Feelings become involved, and things begin to change.
I really enjoyed all of the secondary characters. I absolutely love when stories have side characters that are in the entire story. To me it always adds so much more to the story.
If you’re a fan of high school romance/ friends to lovers, then you definitely need to buy Kiss and Break Up!
Peggy Newland can always count on Dashiel Thane. He’s been her best friend for as long as she can remember, and has always been there for her. Through the thick and the thin, Dash has been her constant.
They both attend the same school, and starting off her senior year Peggy begins to get male attention. Which has never sat too well with Dash, but all of a sudden it’s all he can think about. Peggy deserves to be with a good guy but none of them are good enough for her.
Tensions give away to a forbidden kiss between the two, and that thrusts them into uncharted territory.
Dash is a go big or go home kind of guy, and he wants Peggy, but she’s understandably afraid. She’s scared to ruin what they have with each other, scared of losing her best friend, scared of the drastic change their relationship takes.
I haven’t read new adult in a long time, and it has to be done right for me to enjoy it. Reading Kiss and Break Up reminded me why this genre often makes me want to rip my hair out. Some of the choices the characters made, made me shake my head, other made me yell at my kindle.
However I still enjoyed it. Ella Fields excels at writing these kinds of books. Kiss and Break Up was enjoyable and I couldn’t seem to stop reading it.
4 stars.
Best friends Dash and Peggy are growing up. Life is changing and so are their feelings for each other. Peggy now 18 wants to experience having a boyfriend like her friends and Dash will stop at nothing to make sure it doesn’t happen, until it happens!! Mixed feelings, young inexperienced emotions cause havoc between them. When they are together the chemistry is off the charts. Their bantering and teasing is so addictive, I just loved them both. Peggy has to deal with gossip, a broken heart and confusion as she realizes just how much she actually cares for Dash. The secondary characters were also well developed and interesting. Ella has a way of bringing her characters to life, and you will fall for her dirty talking, conceited , sexy as hell main man Dash!! I loved him! Another incredible story by the very talented Ella Fields!! She nailed it in my opinion!!
Kiss and Break Up by Ella Fields was EVERYTHING that I love about new adult romance all rolled up in one story. Peggy and Dash pulled on my heartstrings and butterflies are still fluttering around deep in the pit of my stomach from all the angst! These two wholeheartedly captivated every inch of my soul and I absolutely adored every heart-wrenching moment of their complicated love story. Their relationship blossomed from best friends to lovers with lots of twists and turns right before our eyes. The back and forth tug o’ war match between them had me on the edge of my seat and my chest is aching in the best way possible. Let’s just say I was rooting for them until the very end because they couldn’t be more perfect for each other!
Ella Fields is one of my all-time favorite authors and she made me fall even more in love with this genre. Not only did Peggy and Dash’s love give me all the feels, but the secondary characters hooked me in even deeper and I am so totally hoping that we will see more of them in the near future! This story is a MUST READ and it was hands down on of my best reads of 2019. I cannot freaking wait for you all to dive in and devour every agonizing word. There are so many layers to experience and readers will certainly find themselves transported right into the story!
Like returning to the best and worst of our highschool years!
I was in love with Dash by page two, hated him by 47%, and loved him again by the end.
I had that horrible twist in my stomach when I could see the end of the limousine scene coming without even reading it.
A perfect ending for some, but not all. Hoping to see books for Willa and Jackson, and Daphne and Lars. If you like NA angsty, sad romance that hurls you back to your highschool years, Kiss And Break Up is perfect for you!!
I really enjoyed Dash and Peggy’s story. Filled with those butterflies in the tummy, swoony times, bromance and laugh out loud moments I was taken on another NA journey with an author who knows how to deliver the gut punches. DASH is life!
I received an ARC of Kiss and Break Up from Ella Fields in return for an honest review. I am also a new reader to Ella and stepping a bit out of my usual reading zone with a New Adult.
Kiss and Break Up is a story about two teenage best friends, Peggy and Dash. Peggy is all adolescent girl on the outskirts of the popular crowd and not yet confident in her beauty. Her best friend Dash, on the other hand, is teenage alpha badassery at its best. He’s crass and a typical high school bad boy jerk.
This friends to lovers story had me feeling like a giddy seventeen-year-old again. Ella provides plenty of teenage drama with all the angst I love from adult romance. Her diverse cast of secondary characters had me wanting to know more about their stories. It has a steamy slow burn feel with sexual tension between the young couple that didn’t make me feel icky since I am old enough to be their parents. The HEA had all the feels, and I was smiling for days after.
I would recommend Kiss and Break Up to all of my romance loving friends. I know there will be a lot more Ella Fields in my reading future!
Recently, foreign market popular shortcuts is writing book titles, which should appear. It started with “TKT” Shen Leigh, and now increasingly found announcements of books, has just written the first letters of the title. “KABU” I was awaited from the first announcement and when I got a book on the reader, stood on the eyelashes to read it right away.
Ella once again did not disappoint me.
Dashiell Thane and Peggy Newland had been friends since diapers. Back, even in the bellies of their mothers, who were friends and knew each other already were close. They walked together throughout their childhood, always going to the same school, and Peggy window in the room was always open to Dasha, who often came to her. Before reaching eighteen years of age, nothing has changed in the knowledge of the two.
Until Pegs was not invited to the party by the school hunk Bryon Wood, who recently broke up with his girlfriend. Dashiell then ignited jealousy, which he did not understand until the end, but he promised himself that he would not allow his friend to put his paws one of the typical “tap and leave, how to get tired.”
Peggy unaware of being in a relationship and behavior on dates, she decides to look for someone who could teach her kissing. And Dash, who is always close to the senses an opportunity and it is proposed to himself this training.
The girl agrees and they both survive this kiss “pretend” in a different way.
Peggy feels ready for a date with Byron.
Dashiell feels that he has to go to the worst methods to knock her head with this clown.
And then … the great hatred is born.
I waited a long time for such a book!
Over the last few days I had a book downtime. Each position after he was reaching for me was bland and boring or repetitive. And then there was “KABU” and Ella, and again I found the desire to read books that motives overlap.
I love this author. Besides, do not you know that today, because in the end in Poland found her alone and thus most of her books are on my blog the reviewed. Let us hope that wanders Fields on paper to Polish and we will all be able to read her entries. I keep my fingers crossed for it.
“Kiss and Break Up” is a book that is a strong New Adult. Our heroes from the child know each other and grow together, and yet they do not see something that is obvious to all around.
Here we have a few childhood memories Dashiell and Peggy, but the action mainly focuses on the present and how Peggy tries to ingratiate Byron to be the perfect girl and how Dashiell doing everything possible to prevent them in the relationship. By the way, you are risking a lot in the meantime.
As for the heroes Dashiell love it! What a guy! Each of us would want this! Rides on BMXie is wesołkiem, but when you need it beats wholeheartedly with all those who deserve it. Normally, the ideal boyfriend!
Peggy irritated me the whole book. It was not a bad figure. It was just stupid and blind. She sought the wonders of Byron, who was not worthy of her, instead look for the best friend, who fought for her every day. You know, curtains you will not find in the ass, as someone once told me.
I learned that there will be another story of the characters in this book, but Peggy and Dasha. I will not tell you where, but I think that after reading it, you will immediately know on whose lives Ella stirred it so that you have to tell.
And most of all I liked the conversation between the characters. Despite that (let’s face it) is osiemnastolatkowie Pisser and not all are mature, when Dash and Peggy, Peggy and Byron or solving their case, they did quite mature. Enough. Remember that word, when you read this position.
“Kiss and Break Up” is another successful position of Ella Fields. Even I am skipping a really great cover, which for a change is not naked, male chest. Definitely I will return to this position as soon forget it a little. And of course I look forward to another book author.
