From bestselling author Ella Fields comes an all-new, turbulent, new adult romance.Dashiell Thane wasn’t a nice guy.He was an abrasive, demanding, conniving, intolerable brat. Yet somehow, we’d been best friends our whole lives. Until our senior year when I finally decided to dip my toes into the dating pool. All it took was one kiss for jealousy, lies, and betrayal to sweep in and propel us … to sweep in and propel us heart first into dizzying, hostile depths.
You’re not supposed to kiss your best friend.
You’re definitely not supposed to kiss your best friend while you’re dating someone else.
And the absolute worst thing you could do is fall for your best friend.
Unless, of course, you want to ruin everything.

This is the first book I’ve read by Ella and I’ll definitely be looking into more of her books.
This book is filled with all the drama that goes on in teenage life, friendships, jealousy, flirting, lust, breakups, young love, teen pregnancy, parties, drinking, getting stoned, teenage angst it has all the bases covered.
SOME SPOILERS
Peggy & Dash are destined to be together, they’ve been BFF since babies but feelings change, they see other people, not always for the right reasons, but their teenagers, that should explain it all.
Peggy is a good girl, innocent, can stand her ground when it comes to Dash, she also has mixed feelings about him and not wanting to ruin her friendship with Dash.
Dash is not so innocent, he’s a lovable badboy, with a foul mouth, does what he wants and won’t take no for an answer, wether he’s wrong and especially when he’s right. And he knows Peggy is right for him.
Will they get past all the teenage drama and BS and get their HEA together?
Can friends become lovers?
Raw emotion, captivating drama, and smoldering chemistry drip from the pages of Kiss and Break Up, it’s a tale that will obliterate your heart in the best possible way! The instant my eyes hit the first page I was hooked and left with a dire need to know more. I just could not get enough of these characters and their epic love story! I absolutely loved what I found between the pages of this one, Dash and Peggy had chemistry for days, and the passion they shared was palpable, I felt every ounce of their pain and the love they felt for one another. If you are a fan of young love stories, then I highly suggest you get your hands on this one, it’s beautifully crafted words will leave an indelible impression on your heart! Well done Ms. Fields, Kiss and Break Up is one of my absolute favorite reads this year!!
*3.5 stars*
This is the first book I have read of Ella Fields and whilst it did take me longer to get into then normal, once I did I was hooked. Friends-to-lovers is one of my guilty pleasure genres.
Ella delivered a book full of angst. Peggy and Dash have been best friends since they were little and now their relationship is starting to grow and change.
I loved Dash, he was a bad boy with some attitude and swagger, but what I loved most about him was that he admitted his feelings for Peggy straight away and didn’t run from them. He goes after what he wants even if he does go about it the wrong way.
I’m going to be honest I struggled slightly with Peggy. She had Dash and another guy hanging and even when she knocked Dash back she got upset and made him grovel when he moved on with someone else. I just couldn’t connect with her as much.
I would like to read more from Ella Fields
Kiss and Break Up is my first read by Ella Fields and I absolutely fell in love! This story takes you back to the days when you we’re young and experiencing all the firsts. Who to give your heart to and hoping they don’t break it. Have you swooning and laughing reminiscing the struggles we all faced trying to figure it out.
Best friends since birth, Dash and Peggy who he calls Freckles have a bond we all wish we had. Even though he teases her, you can’t help but fall in love with his charm and how he protects her. He’s also sexy as hell. I couldn’t get enough of these two and wanted more.
There’s a guy at school who likes Peggy and when he asks her out she freaks because she’s not experienced like the other girls. Dash offers to help her but she’s afraid it may mess everything up between them.
“You might be my best friend, but I’ve always wondered what it’d be like to stick my tongue down your throat.”
“Let’s just say you’ll be killing that curiosity.”
“You’ve always wondered?”
“I’ve got eyes, Freckles. And I don’t need glasses to appreciate the sight of something beautiful.”
This kiss isn’t the same as the first kiss he gave her in sixth grade and it changes everything.
Dash and Peggy deliver all the high school angst and drama you could ever need. These two try everything to not see what is right in front of them. Dash is a brooding, jerk who only cares for his cat and Peg. Peg isn’t sure where she belongs in the high school scene, but she can always count on Dash. I didn’t want to put this book down

If you can’t kiss your best friend with no strings attached, who else can you kiss?
REVIEW:
Ella Fields takes readers on an entirely new journey through the world of the angsty world of high school seniors Peggy and Dash. Long time best friends who make a dangerous decision to explore the ‘fringe’ benefits of their relationship. Promising one another not to catch feelings and realizing that you’ve loved that person all along and denied your feelings aren’t much of a stretch in this delicious slow burn novel that will have your stomach churning and your heart races. I thought the duel perspective romance was entertaining and fun—reminiscent of some of my favorite high school drama moments. The major plotlines might have been explored before, but the delivery is uniquely Ella Fields. I have spent the last two years reading everything I could possibly get my hands on by this author and she never disappoints. Her stories are completely consuming and Kiss and Break Up was no different. The excellent storytelling ability that I have become accustomed to is present as is one of my favorite character traits—an asshole alpha. **heavy sigh** Dash the very definition of an asshole alpha. His only soft spot, Peggy Sue, lifelong best friend and the one person he guards passionately. But when he realized that was because it was always her? Perfection! Pure Romance Gold!!! Now, Peggy—the heroine—is where this book became slightly dicey for me, although that is hard for me as admit as I desperately love Ella’s novels. Peggy was strong as hell and had no problem standing up to Dash—as much as he would listen—and yet is the more immature of the pair which I found surpriseing. It caused me to struggled a little with her character, which is a first for me when it comes to this particular author. Nevertheless, I couldn’t have put the story down if my life depended on it. I loved how much the tension between Peggy and Dash was amped up with each scene they shared, with each encounter that pushed them beyond the boundaries of those who were previously ‘strickly friends’… I particularly love how hot it made the slow burn of their romance. While sexy for sure, their romance is also sweet in the ways that only first time love can be. 4.5 EXCELLENT STORY STARS!!!!
QUOTES:
…she’d fucking rejected me. Laughed at me. Then walked away from me. I was so pissed, so unexpectedly thrown by her response and the weird stabbing sensation that cut at the insides of my chest, that I’d climbed out her bedroom window and gone home before she even came back to her room.
—
I wasn’t sure how much longer I could take this. This feeling that ate and ate and ate at my chest, leaving nothing but bleeding need behind.
—
I didn’t know how I’d never seen it before, or when exactly it changed, but maybe that was why I’d shied away from anything that resembled commitment. Because it was supposed to be her all along. Peggy and Dash— more than just best friends.
—
A hidden truth unearthed. It was official. I’d fallen for my best friend, and she was breaking my black fucking heart.
KISS AND BREAK UP is a NA romance novel by Ella Fields. Peggy and Dashiell have known each other since they were babies and are best friends. Now that their both high school seniors, they’re looking forward to their final year and both determined to make it one to remember. Dash is the kind of guy whose arrogant, knows what he wants while going after it and really his true main goal in life is to protect his bff from anything that he sees as harmful or as “heartbreak” causes. Yet for their final year, things are about to drastically change and when it’s all said and done, a lifelong friendship will quite possibly never be the same–Ever!!!
OMG!!This is such an angsty, drama, tension, steamy, intense, sexy romance read with all the feels. Peggy and Dashiell will have you glued to the book to find out if their friendship survives and does everything else too. Ella Fields delivers an amazing book that will have you in serious book hangover for sure!!!
My Rating: 4.8 stars ******
There was just that magical, undeniable bond between her characters Dash and Peggy.
If you are a lover of angst driven YA romances, then make sure you add Ella Field’s Kiss and Break Up to your kindle immediately!
If you are a follower of my reviews you know I desperately love two things: Best Friend and angst driven romances. So it’s no surprise the amount of love I have for Field’s new release. There was just that magical, undeniable bond between her characters Dash and Peggy. It was the most honest, open and honest friendship that turned into something incredible. Their instant friendship, chemistry and banter will keep you reading until the wee early morning hours.
Although Dash is a character that you want to slap around a bit before your heart starts to flutter, it goes without saying that Fields redeems herself with his character once he gets his act together. Luckily, I’m a lover of this will they, won’t they mumbo jumbo, so for me it was okay to deal with his emotional torture. However if you aren’t a fan of angst, then it might miss the mark for you.
Kiss and Break Up was my first novel by Fields and I have to say she has definitely caught my attention. I’m eager and interested to see what else this author has for her readers!
What a trip down memory lane!!! This book is friends to lovers and was filled with angst, humor and love. It was such a roller coaster of emotions. Ella writes beautifully and you can’t help yourself be hooked.
Ella Fields once again takes us on a wild ride of emotions, angst and love with KABU. Kiss And Break Up is a wonderfully written, coming of age romance that will tug at your heart with the love story of Dash and Peggy. From best friends to lovers, their transition isn’t easy. There is angst, anguish, passion, jealousy, betrayal and at last, love – all the emotions that Ella Fields had captured perfectly in this story. Once again i’m in love with another story of this author!
This book transports you back to High School
and all the angst that comes with it. I loved how
clueless Dash and Peggy were to their true feelings.
The author captured what it is/was to be that age,
thinking everything was the end of the world.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this book
is how authentic it feels, and how it walks you through
everything and makes you feel as if you’re actually there.
An added bonus was seeing everyone show their vulnerabilities,
the rawness of being that age .
One of the best friends to lovers young romance books I’ve read since A Thousand Boy Kisses!!!!! Best YA read of 2019!!!!!! Kudos Ella Fields!!!!!
Kiss and Break sent me back to high school, senior year. The memories just came flying back. Loved it!
Best friends, Peggy and Dash began to travel down a road that sparks all kinds of high school drama. Kiss and Break Up was funny and entertaining. I couldn’t get enough of Dash and Peggy. Their friends were also along for the ride, also bringing along their own personal dramas. I really enjoyed this read and reccomend others to check out this YA romance.
This book was geared more towards young adult with the main character, Peggy being a senior in high school. I have to say this was not my favorite Ella Fields book. I hoped for more after reading Bloodstained Beauty, which I freaking loved! It was a feel good book that has your typical high school drama and heartbreak and then ends with a happily ever after. It was entertaining to read and I did like the characters but it wasn’t a must read of 2019 for me.
3.5
This is my first book by Ella and I don’t know if Willa has her own book already or not, but I need it. ‘k Ella?
The level of angst isn’t really high in Kiss and Break Up, at least not in my world. But Ella definitely has a knack of making you live in the moments with the characters. And I was drawin in by that. Also, a fan of her writing style now!
Best friends making the transition to maybe boyfriend/girlfriend. I liked his possessiveness I mean he probably was OTT but he genuinely cared for her. Just when he does an asshole thing he makes it right but doing something swoony. His heart’s in the right place.
I love Dash he’s not your typical I’mma love you kind of guy. He’s rough around the edges, unapologetic, abrasive and doesn’t sugar coat anything.
Peggy on the other hand I felt was a little wishy washy due to typical teenager insecurities but I liked her. I enjoyed this read and hope her two bestie Daphne and Willa get their own stories. These three have a great sisterhood.
I so love this book. Very fast paced read that will have your heart in over drive. This story will that you on a love story that will have you looking for the best friend love that is blind to each other. To people that grow up together are blind to their love to each other. This book will have all your emotions tied up. This is a must read book that will have you on the edge of your seat.
I was soooo hooked with this dang book! Dash is an ass, like a spoiled brat lol but I loved him anyway. Peggy goes through some crazy emotional phases but I loved her too. YA/NA, kinda hard to pin it on one with this one but you’ll love it! Ella is amazing with the angst so if you love angst, READ THIS.
The first book I read from this author I just kind of fell into it Suddenly Forbidden and I loved it so much I ended up reading the entire series. I don’t shy away from taboo subjects and I love all age range of stories was ready to dig into this new one.
The characters in Kiss and Break Up all have such strong personalities. Dash and Peggy were fantastic in the leading roles. They have been childhood best friends forever and they are both struggling with feelings that it might be turning into something so much more. The teenage high school angst that their relationship had was written so realistic and so on point. I loved all of their friends each bringing a different layer to the story. Peggy’s Mom was amazing and somewhat funny. I loved when she was one step ahead of Peggy. In the background was the feud that Dash’s Mom and her were having some funny reading there!!
I am not going into all the details as this book is so good and I want you to go in blind!! It sounds like this is the first book in a new series. There were several couples at Magnolia Cove that would love to read their stories!!
Ah, teenage love … Ella Fields has perfectly illustrated it! Peggy and Dash’s story is a wild evolution of the relationship from friends to lovers that melted my heart. We have here bad decisions, impulsiveness and heartbreak. We also have determination and fight in it. And most importantly – this first youthful love that always remains in our hearts. Perfect New Adult!
Dashiell and Peggy’s friendship began quite unconventionally. The boy just decided that they would be friends and it stayed that way. And although Dash has absolutely no filter and often made fun of Peggy, he was a constant in her life. But his feelings towards his friend began to change when she decided to enter the dating scene. Especially at the moment when Dash offered her help in gaining experience… because what’s a small innocent kiss between friends? A milestone, as it turns out. The struggle of thoughts, feelings and jealousy began with this kiss. Is jeopardizing the long-term friendship worth taking risks? Are there situations that can’t be overcome? And most importantly, is it possible to forget about betrayal and fix a broken heart? Kiss and Break Up is a perfect example that shows us how strong the power of first love is.
Dashiell … Personification of a mean bad boy who doesn’t give a damn what others think and cares only for himself. But there’s also something that makes us swoon over him like teenagers. He didn’t have a perfect example of what love between two people should look like and perhaps because of that he couldn’t identify the emotions that were waking up in him. His devotion to Peggy was simply charming. Sure, he made mistake after mistake because of his impulsiveness but he fought with determination to rebuild what he had broken because of his own stupidity.
KABU is for me a return to wild teenage years, full of mistakes, friendships and intense feelings. Although this book is full of angst I’ve read it with incredible pleasure. Ella Fields has created a great story that’s a tribute to youth. I highly recommend!
