Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don’t happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little feather-head with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from … tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.
But this man without a soul has met his match in a woman who’s nothing but heart. Before long, passion will send them flying sky high without a safety net… risking it all in search of a love that will last forever.

If you can name a book with a better opening line than “Daisy Devreau had forgotten her bridegroom’s name,” do share! Until then, this takes top prize for favorite opener. Daisy and Alex’s story is engrossing and memorable. SEP never disappoints.
Great book. I love it.
This book killed me. I’m serious, it took a knife to my heart over and over. I don’t know if I was in a different head space when I read this or what, but I sobbed all through this story. The sheer determination Daisy has is awe-inspiring. And it’s not just her, she amasses some friends (both human and other) that tore my heart out, too.
As …
Daisy Devreaux spirals after her mother’s sudden death and ends up forced into an arranged wedding by her unfeeling father and step-mother. The groom- an uncompromising Russian with no humor.
Thank goodness it was only for six months.
Alex Markov owes his spoiled young bride’s father his life, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to make things easy …

What a timeless incredible story! It took me a while to start reading it but once I did, it was impossible to stop.
Daisy is amazing! Sinjun and Tater are the best part of the book and how she becomes her best version is what I really adored.
Alex is the type of guy who is tough and alpha. He’s also a …
One of my favorite romance novels. I had no idea circus life could be so entertaining and I loved the masterful man and quirky naive woman together. His conscience and strong moral code go up against her daydreams and equally strong moral code. By turns funny, quirky, tender, tragic, and informative. I re-read this book every year.
I know this is one of her older books, and, I just read it a few months ago. But I felt I had to read it again. I love it, love it, love it. It inspires me.
Love all of her books. She is an auto buy for me!
another laugh out loud love story form Phillips. Loved it!
Another all-time, feel-good favorite from SEP! I love everything about this book – hot Alex, spunky Daisy, the circus…and there’s even a baby elephant! Everything about this romance wins the prize.
Outstanding, wonderful, romantic, sweet, emotional!!! I loved it to no end.
I read this book in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. I loved all the characters and the emotional journey they go through. Daisy is a rich girl but with a golden heart as we soon discover, forced to married Alex Markov. They could’t be more different but they’re …
ANY book by SEP is a fantastic page-turner! Once I discovered her, I couldn’t read each one of her books fast enough. Some are meant to be read together (not necessarily in order, but they share characters) and some are standalone. But all are absolutely fantastic!!
I am drawn to “Marriage of Convenience” theme, even though the plot is usually very similar book to book. This wonderful author was able to bring an originality to this story. One being, the backdrop of this book is a Circus! The bride is spoiled and flighty. Daisy is an absolute sweetheart. Her father pairs her with the mysterious, handsome, and …
This awesome book by SEP has so much to recommend it, that I’m hard pressed to single out any one element that makes it the unforgettable read that it is. The colorful background of a traveling, second tier circus and the lovable eccentrics, both human and animal, that are the life’s blood of the show immediately capture and keep a hold of your …
Not Phillips’ best book. The protagonist in this one is a little bit of a Mary Sue. Regardless though, Susan Elizabeth Phillips has never written a book that was not a delight to read, and didn’t have you loving the characters by the final happy ending.
Kind of a sad romance with a hint of Beauty and the Beast to it. The H is one of the beasts, but he is one-upped in hero status by a tiger that develops an emotional connection to the heroine, our Beauty.
H and h are in a pretty unbelievable MOC. Heroine had two rotten parents: father that ignored her and a narcissistic mother that stole her …
Sweet story. Pet elephant was a nice touch.
A classic from one of my favorite romance authors
