King’s Return (Camelot Misfits MC #1)
Author: Xavier Neal
I love Adonis “King” Arthur. I definitely will have to read more of this series and the Author Xavier Neal. I’m definitely hooked, so it’s a 5 STAR from me. 🙂
Wow! Seriously wow! Xavier Neal is a new to me author and I have to shout that I am so happy to have found her! And honestly MC romances are not usually my thing but I enjoyed the heck out of King and Imani and the Chapter with all the loyal Misfits. This book is so well written as well. Neal has some serious talent and her words are powerful and consuming.
Jesus. Adonis, King, is all that and a bag of chips. I have not one thing I didn’t love about his character. He is undoubtedly loyal and honest and caring and strong and protective and l am absolutely infatuated with him! Oh and let’s not forget sexy, that man lights up the pages thoughout this whole stroy. Imani, Queen, will just have to try and share! Imani is super awesome to boot. She is a lady boss and independent and tough to her core while she still has this female drive to love and care for her man. This book starts with King being summoned back to his family because one of thier own has been taken. An innocent is being unimaginably broken each day because of the greed of another MC leader. The MC Dread will stop at nothing to take down the Misfits and also the city they are supposed to protect. Imani and King meet at his homecoming and it is instant chemistry. And holy goodness did their chemistry make me squirm in my seat! Neal seriously knows how to draw two characters together and create a bond so strong it feels like fate. While thier love grows so do the dangers. The questions keep piling up. King and the Misfits are determined to honor thier pledge to uphold and protect their Chapter and the City they love, Camelot, their home, and they will do so at all costs. There is no off switch to the story. There are twists and betrayals as well as soul changing love and a brotherhood that is rock hard.
This is such an action packed story. I could not put it down. I loved every single second and dove right into Kings Conquest because I NEEDED answers. I am so glad to have found this series and I highly highly recommend it. There is nothing to dislike about this story and I dare you to disagree.
The best MC book that I have read so far. When will book 2 be out?
King’s Return is book #1 in the Camelot Misfits series. Book is a novella told from duel perspectives. In this first book we learn background information on the MC and how it is run. The groundwork for the rest of the series is laid out.
Adonis “King” returns to Camelot at the request of Maddox “Wiz” Lind to help rescue his sister from a rival MC. King has been living a nomad life since he was was exiled 10 years ago after an attack on his family. But, now he is desperately needed.
Imani is an assistant director at the Whitney Museum. Having been raised by men- she is independent, driven, and focused. When her best friend Aimee sneakily talks her into attending a party at the Misfit MC clubhouse… her world is about to be rocked hard by King.
Insta-attraction, heat, and all the inbetween. When Imani gets dragged into club business and needs protection- the Misfits are all over it.
The connection between King and Imani is hot, consuming and completely takes them both by surprise at how fast they have fallen.
The banter is entertaining. The brotherhood is apparent, but maybe not as solid as all think. The cliffhanger leaves us with many questions.
Great start to an MC series
I dip my toes in MC books every now and then and I’m so glad I decided to splash around in this series.
Full of action and attraction, King and Imani are drawn together immediately.
Xavier’s writing flowed well and there was never a dull moment. We are introduced into this world and given snippets of other characters. I’ve got my eyes on Wiz.
Off i go to continue my adventures with the Camelot Misfits!
This was a good introduction to a new series and club. I liked some of the characters even if at times they drove me crazy. There is suspense and twists and turns but the story also has some humor and steam.
It took me a little bit to get into the story however, once it did pick up it was a quick read. I thought the concept of an MC based off of King Arthur was pretty cool and definitely different from most MC books. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it was a fun book if you don’t mind it being not super dark and except it for what it is. I did love the banter between all the characters and Adonis’s alpha personality. Imani isn’t my favorite heroine but she’s fierce and has a strong personality that suits Adonis. Overall a good quick and entertaining read
I enjoyed this book so much! I loved meeting King and Imani and seeing their relationship develop throughout the story! I loved the Storyline! The action, the intrigue, the sexiness, oh yeah! I cannot wait for the next book!
This book is an MC romantic suspense trope. It is a modern-day twist on King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
I really couldn’t wait to read this book. I love the MC trope and really like Xavier Neal’s work. This one did not hit the mark for me. It has a lot of potential but it was a little confusing and difficult to get into. The plot jumped around and there was a lack of information that I believe was necessary to the story. I thought the relationship between Adonis aka King and Imani aka Queen seemed rushed and needed more development. Also, it did not fit the bill for an MC romance. I think the King Arthur spin and some of the typical MC terms were switched and just didn’t fit with an MC-type story. I did like that Imani was strong, independent, and didn’t take crap from anyone. I like King’s alpha side and the mystery surrounding him was intriguing. I encourage you to read the story and form your own opinion. This does end in a cliffhanger.
****ARC for an honest review.****
King’s Return by Xavier Neal is book one in the Camelot Misfits MC series. King is back in his true clubhouse due to a crisis but he has no intentions of staying long. Especially after walking in on his girl and his best friend in a passionate embrace. His not going to let his club members suffer because of him anymore. It’s time to give this life up and just be a nomad for the rest of time. That is until he sees her walk into his clubhouse nothing will be the same again. It’s all so cut and dry…or it was. Deal with the problem then go back to being a wanderer. Except…well if you need more then I say read it. If your about honor and commitment to family and brothers then you will love it maybe almost as much as I do. I received a free advanced copy to read and review. That cliffy dang…now I will not so patiently await book 2 to hit my kindle.
Here we go!!! Xavier Neal’s take on the MC world is exciting, fresh and new! There a lot of things I appreciate when reading a Xavier book, I like the warnings before you even start the book, if you hate cliffhangers this may not be for you, but the exciting thing is that the first three books are available with no wait!
Ok so this is the story of King and his Queen, their relationship is on the fast track with no looking back. King is a strong alpha and Imani is no pushover either. Watching the two strong personalities come together is nothing short of explosive.
Xavier is known for writing emotional stories with complex characters and this is what you have here, plus a slew of interesting side characters to keep you entertained.
This is a raw, gritty roller coaster that you are not going to want to get off of! I can not wait to see what comes next!
This story has it all. It’s humorous, sexy, suspenseful and full of action. It will keep you captivated from the beginning as it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It has characters you will love. I loved the connection and banter. The chemistry is off the charts sexy and steamy. I’m enjoying this new series and looking forward to reading more.
This was a 3.5 read
This was the first book of anew MC series with a twist on King Arthur and the nights of the round table. But be warned… this does end in a cliffhanger.
It took me a while to get into this one… but I eventually settled in.
King was adorable and Imani was very down to earth and likeable. Together they were hot.
I didn’t get why some of the traditional terms were swapped out… especially the use of ‘rugrats’ to refer to new prospects. Just didn’t sit right.
I found the story did jump a bit and I had trouble with how the club referring itself as an outlaw MC when they say they protect the innocent and maintain balance. But overall a Good read.
Looking forward to book 2
I was given an ARC but voluntarily chose to review
King’s Return is an action packed, quick read that does end in a cliffhanger. This is only the beginning of King and Imani’s story but I’m excited for what’s next.
Not exactly the MC I was expecting but love the mythical references.
King had left his Club due to extenuating circumstances. But when his help is needed he returns. Rivalry has hit close to home. And crossed over to involve the new woman in his life, Imani. While their relationship was a quick event, it’s no less real. But King’s past is about to touch his future…and he can’t allow that.

This is my first book by Xavier Neal and I want to kick myself for waiting this long. It’s a MC romance that I completely fell in love with.
This trilogy is the story of Adonis “King” Arthur and Imani. It is loosely based on Camelot with King Arthur and the Round Table. I have always loved any book, TV show or movie with that particular storyline. Although the author had this element, there is still individual differences that create a whole other effect. I really respected the amount of research Mrs. Neal had to have done on MC culture. It allowed me to understand MC culture in a completely new way. Just about everything we learn about Misfit MC comes from King’s POV. I love the different codes that every MC embodies and enforces.
“Clubs are meant to merge men together. Cultivate new kin while upholding sacred customs. They’re supposed to be a habitat to bolster the ancient tribal need to create and nurture our tribe.”
King has practically been a club member since birth. Most of the current members grew up together while learning everything they would one day need as leaders.
“They’ve never given a f**k what a man looks like on the outside. It’s always been about the honor he holds on the inside.”
King was forced to leave his chapter in Camelot and become Nomad, meaning he traveled between chapters and never really had a home base. Then his best friend, Wiz, shows up begging for him to return to Camelot because Wiz’s sister has been kidnapped by a rival MC. It’s the same club that murdered King’s parents.
During his “Welcome back” party, he meets the beautiful and badass, Imani. She works at a history museum with her true love being studying different cultures. She sees King’s club as modern day Vikings. I really enjoyed the history lesson we are given through Imani’s voice. When she is mistaken for someone else, it becomes King’s objective to protect her at all costs. Imani is unequivocally my absolute favorite female character ever! When I say she is BADASS, I am not exaggerating! She is the type of person that can’t be easily brought down and she never gives up. The banter between her and King as well as the rest of the club is beyond hilarious!
“You mean the one where some overweight, white bald dude, with tattoos that reach up to his chin, throws me over his shoulder and takes me to the nearest couch to rip off my clothes while my screams can’t be heard because of Welcome to the Jungle being blared through the oversized speakers near the pool table?”
As he and Imani become closer, his genuine character truly shows and it’s beautiful. She is his Queen and he treats her as such.
“You’re the star my life has been missing, Imani. The light that stops me from dying in the dark. The beacon to guide me home. The reminder that there is a place I should call home.”
The only downside I found in reading this book was that during the first couple of chapters, it wasn’t very smooth. The transition between scenes was choppy, for lack of a better word. But thankfully it didn’t last and just got better and better.
It does end on a cliffhanger but don’t worry, the next book is already out. I can’t wait to jump into the next book to see what happens next.
“This woman has somehow become the brightest fucking star in the bleakness I consider my life. She sheds light on the surface. Through the cracks and crevices. She illuminates the man known as King and shines light on Adonis, the one I had been accustomed to forgetting.”
This book is an inspired combination of the classic Arthurian legend and a modern MC romance. These two concepts blended beautifully together into a read that is engaging, entertaining and exciting. If you are not a fan of MC romance this one might be the one to get you started because the author takes great pains to inform readers about the ways of MC club life and the terminology used, while also putting her own unique spin to tie in with the King Arthur side of the story. I must say that if you are a seasoned MC fan that the first chapter or two of the book may come across as a bit slow. After all, if you already are familiar with the terms and lifestyle, what you are reading can seem a bit redundant. Trust me this feeling will not last long as you are quickly swept up into King and Imani’s story. Both these characters were incredible and they are absolute perfection as a couple. King is hot, strong, protective and 100% alpha male but he is also sure enough of himself to show a much gentler and caring side to his “Queen”. Imani would seem to be Kings opposite and yet in reality he shares a surprising amount of things in common with him, the MC club and the MC lifestyle. I truly loved the connection between these two and how they both embraced the help and knowledge that the other brought into their relationship. There is plenty of drama, emotion, action, danger, humor, sweetness and steam in this book to make sure your attention never wanes. Be warned though that this amazing read will leave you hanging on a pretty big cliffhanger. I can not wait for the next book in this series! I’m voluntarily posting a completely truthful review.
This is the first book in a new series. It does end on a major cliffhanger.
Ms. Neal takes MC (motorcycle club) to new heights. This was a fresh and new take on not only MC culture but Knights of the Roundtable.
I thought the writing was new and different from Ms. Neal’s usual style. I loved the dialogue between Adonis and Imani. Imani is a strong-willed, fiesty and witty character. Adonis is a rough around the edges, slightly broken and battered man. Together they are just combustible. Their chemistry is palpable and passionate. Their banter is honest and refreshing.
I loved how Ms. Neal writes the secondary characters. They always add such depth to the story. I also adore the little “easter eggs” she sprinkles throughout the book, those little nods to other series are always charming.
The world building was spot on and as a reader you felt instantly connected to the story. It was engaging and moved at a quick pace that made the story simply fly by. I am so anxious to read more from this series. If you enjoy any of Ms. Neal’s previous works, this story is to not be missed!
Book Review: King’s Return (Camelot Misfits MC Book 1)
Author: Xavier Neal
FIVE STARS
I just recently started reading MC (Motorcycle Club) romance and I must say it is really good stuff. And the books by Xavier are no exception to this. I found the first two books on Kindle Unlimited and just dug in and started reading. I finished the first two books in less than 48 hours. OH MY this story line and the challenges and issues that come up and the ways they have to over come everything that gets thrown their way. I don’t know where Ms. Neal came up with the story line but WOW its amazing.
Adonis “King” Arthur was forced to leave his legacy and run from the men hunting him many years ago, but now he has been summoned back to Camelot to help a brother find his sister. Was it worth running off? What is waiting for him now?
KH
King’s Return is the first book in a new series and it does have a cliffhanger (and oh what a cliffhanger it is) so definitely read in order.
The author has managed to show the Misfits MC as more real than most writers do but adds a twist to it. She accomplished combining the Knights of the Round Table principles to the MC world in a way that is believable. The way King (Adonis) is blunt and has no problem telling Imani (Queen) how he really feels is just like a great deal of bikers. Blunt and to the point with no cares to how others take their responses. The Misfits are brothers to the core and loyal. Without giving out any spoilers, it is just best to go in knowing that it is filled with action, suspense, loyalty, rival MCs and twists you won’t expect.
Definitely ready for book two.
