What a great start to a new MC romance series!! We have a guy that feels unloved due to his past that has to step up when it dad dies. The chick has her very own issues thanks to a very dark upbringing and strict control by her parents. A business deal that goes wrong brings them together in a way that should make them hate one another but instead fate has other plans. Full of dark themes, secrets, and sexy men leading all the way to the thrilling finale that works so well for these two. Perfect for fans of the genre. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Dimitri is The Enforcer, looking to process the death of his father while trying to make sure his MC’s arms deal with a politician doesn’t turn sour. Annalise is a sheltered dancer, desperate to escape the hell her life has always been and that has recently turned to unbearable. When Dimitri’s arms deal falls through the two stories collide and Annalise’s swan song turns into a phoenix lifting her from the ashes of her shattered life, only to thrust her into even more of a hellish experience as a pawn in a twisted game.
I had never read any CD Bradley before this but I found her depiction of (I assume) Annalise to be haunting and beautiful and raw and I eagerly await reading more of her work in the future. I am just in awe of BT Urruela’s ability to spin an incredible tale and also write so forthrightly and honestly and I will always read anything he writes.
“When you are dead on the inside, pain is all you can feel. It becomes the rock that defines you. When everything else is gone, it remains.”
Color me impressed with this new collaboration. Truthfully, I’ve not read the works of either of these authors individually, but together they are amazing. Being an MC Romance addict, that was what put this book on my radar…well, the cover is quite amazing too.
A match made in heaven but forged in hell— That piece of the synopsis is especially intriguing, right? Who could resist a badass biker and a broken ballerina? Not me, that’s for sure! I dove in with excitement and the action was nonstop from start to finish. The story is told in multiple POV’s and that just amped up the suspense, knowing what the characters thought and felt, but having to wait to find out what would actually happen. There is also the mental stress of not knowing who can be trusted, it was scary and exciting at the same time, just the way I like it.
The witty banter between characters was really entertaining. I found myself smiling quite often. You know, when I wasn’t tempted to throw my Kindle at those that shall remain unnamed so as not to spoil your fun. But, maybe we can all hang out at Archie’s Diner later and throw darts instead. I’ve become quite attached to a few of the bikers and I’m really excited that the South Side Sinners MC – 3SMC is a series and I’ll get the chance to spend more time with them. The line forms here…
Oh my lord… Oh my lord… Another MC book… Dayum… I’m one lucky lady…
This new book was written by two authors so you can guess what will happen… I’ve known one author for a while now but the other I don’t.
CD Bradley has given me so pretty amazing books full of sassiness, danger, drama and so much more…
BT Urruela is a new author to me and my excitement couldn’t be higher… Dayum… What’s in store for us…
King’s Ransom is their latest release and it’s the first book from the Southside Sinners MC… Jesus…
This new book explores the lives of Dimitri and Annalise.
Dimitri is used to living in the darkness, surrounded by crime and violence.
Jesus… I didn’t saw that coming… Dayum… What a book.
Spectacular plot, very well written, super dark, intense and emotional at the same time.
I saw myself ending one chapter and wanting to start the next right away.
Things were happening in a way that left me breathless and shaking like a leaf.
Crime, punishment, death, betrayal is very present in this book as well as love, loyalty, and second chances.
It doesn’t matter what life brings you because you only have two choices… To fight or runaway…
This book is enveloped in a black cloud so thick that I was afraid to not be able to see the light.
It was amazing the way this story progressed and I was left wanting more.
BT and CD… You guys nailed it. I’m still shaking and I want more… So much more.
This book is exactly what I had been waiting for. I needed something page turning and intense to suck me in. Man, did this one do it. Great characters and an awesome story. Being a STL area native I loved this! – By Cat
This is the first book I’ve read by BT Urruela and CD Bradley, and it was a perfect storm of a novel about an MC.
For those of us that like dark romance this book is almost picture perfect. As Dmitri watches the club he owes his loyalty to implode, he’s wondering if they’re on the right path. When they decide to target the daughter of the senator who sold them out, Dmitri realizes that his club could’ve find their way back to the path of righteousness with a map.
Annelise is the prima ballerina in the St. Louis ballet company getting ready to play the lead in Giselle, but she’s hiding her own dark secrets and beating the daily shame of a victim. She’s decided though, this is where it all stops. Annelise is going to go out on top, and no one will ever know the truth of what she’s hiding.
When Dmitri and Annelise end up in the same place will they survive together, or will they be forced to die alone?
An excellent foray into the motorcycle club genre, a little slow at times, but it really ends in a blaze of glory.
King’s Ransom is action packed & will quench the dark parts of your soul. Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Dimitri & Annalise both have a darkness inside of them that seems to recognize each other. They are both in an impossible situation, and shouldn’t like each other. As their souls seem to draw them together like magnets, they find a little light together. Now will they get out of this alive? What could possibly go wrong…. a hell of a lot!
I really enjoyed this story, it’s not filled with set but definitely chemistry. You are drawn into the story and you grab on and hold on tight for the ride.
The story is filled with action, suspense, betrayal and sexual tension. One of my favorite aspects of the book was Annalise quick wit and the banter between all the main guys. The story line is dark and the banter gave a nice balance. The storyline kept me at the edge of my seat.
The collaboration between the two authors was seamless. The writing style of both authors worked well with each other you really could not tell who wrote what parts.
I really am hoping that we see more from South Side Sinners MC. I really want to know what happens with Dimitri and his band of misfits.
Loved this book!
I love me an MC book and have read all of BT’s books and now need to read CD Bradley’s books. This collaboration was perfect!!
Annalise and Dimitri are the farthest from being from different sides of the tracks. She being the perfect child on the outside with a senator for a father and him being raised in a MC club that has lost it’s way. She performs in front of crowds and he takes care of those who wrong them as the enforcer of the biker club.
These 2 are broken and come together under bad circumstances but learn that they are actually quiet the same in what they have had to deal with. I also love when authors use the supporting characters and give them a bit of the story outside of the main characters. I can’t wait to read some more MC books from both of these authors as they have struck gold with this one.
This took a bit for me to get into, but I loved how there was a parallel to Dimitri’s life as he noticed Annalise. The pull was strong between them, even with all the negative influence in their lives. This was an up and down journey, and I enjoyed it all the way.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Awesome story!!!! It’s a story about the guy from the “wrong” side of the tracks and a girl from the “right” side of the tracks…Dimitri and Annalise both have demons that threaten to destroy them and they come together by an unfortunate situation…. great story with lots of action….
Imagine a life where you can’t see a way out. Where you feel trapped, unliked and unloved. Imagine the feeling of being a prized possession, but only for the sole purpose of imagery. In your heart of hearts, you know there is only one way out. It may not be what you want, but it’s your only vision. After all, you don’t have a life of your own. It’s set in stone and you not by your own doing.
“Dimitri seemed to collect the broken and the damned.” This is the perfect quote to introduce Dimitri. He was a tough alpha biker, but a broken one, nonetheless. He blamed himself for a past that he had no control over. Annalise was just as broken as he was, wanting an escape. As a prima ballerina, she couldn’t believe that she had such a connection to such a thug; but Dimitri had a heart of gold. Annalise could see it in his eyes. She could also see the pain. The pain that so desperately needs to be released. Can their two worlds collide and actually save each other, or will life go on and be as miserable and mundane as they had been, before they met?
King’s Ransom is one amazing story. It’s one of sorrow and desperation, yet one of fulfillment and triumph. BT Urruela and CD Bradley make one brilliant duo. The characters, the background, the details … it’s all right there, in the palm of your hand. Make sure to pick up a copy … it will make your head spin in all sorts of great ways!!
King’s Ransom was my first experience with these authors.
A collaboration that as a book did work, it flowed seamlessly and it certainly wasn’t apparent to me that this had been written by two separate individuals.
It was well written and I did enjoy myself but there was just something missing slightly.
So this was a story of two broken individuals that find each other in some very difficult circumstances and though are two main characters here seem poles apart in life and experience there actually more alike than they first think.
Both answer solely to outside expectations and though their coping mechanisms tend to differ slightly one dance the other drink and drugs there overall core experiences have left them missing a piece of themselves.
This is the story of Annalise and Dimitri, the former a prima ballerina with the St Louis Ballet and the Latter a member of a notorious MC gang The South Side Sinners.
This pair’s destinies collide when Annalise gets caught in the crosshairs between The Sinners and her corrupt father Senator Hale.
with her father owing the Sinners a debt they take Annalise as collateral and Dimitri makes it his mission to keep Annalise who he sees as an innocent safe from others in his MC who would do her harm.
Now I love a good MC romance me but I think my main complaint with this one was that through the beginning and end were relatively fast-moving the main chunk of this in the middle seemed quite slow.
Not much happened but a whole lot of talking and I did get a tad bored because of this.
There was also for me, not enough romance between our two mains and while I don’t mind a slow burn there just wasn’t really any sexy times here for me to sink my teeth into.
Also, the last few chapters here left me slightly sceptical as in Annalise metamorphosing into Annie Oakley despite never even picking up a gun before.
I also didn’t like how the abuse she suffered was never verbally discussed with Dimitri I felt there should have been at least a few words between the two discussing these events.
So despite the MC setting, this is not a dark romance, the romance side of things here is actually very sweet indeed and is quite heartfelt with a lot of verbal emotion.
This is more what I would describe as Romantic suspense with some dark elements.
The dark being the subject matter dealt with here and all the death and Mayhem involved and there’s a lot of that.
So on reflection, this though not a full-house for me still had far more positives than negatives overall and I did find it an enjoyable experience.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of King’s Ransom.

Gosh, full on action story, intense and highly suspenseful edge of your seat and hold your breathe read. Emotional in so many ways. This book once you start you do not want to put it down, from one issue to another it doesn’t stop, at times you think there will never be any survivors at the end of it. I was pulled in deep my heart racing and mouth dry at points during the plot. It isn’t an easy read the violence is graphic and in many ways romance isn’t a focus but more of a “it had to happen”, it is about struggle and a fight for survival. Second chances. For one character especially this is live or die, from struggle, abuse and never having the love that should have been automatic, to just wanting to escape the pain of life. To then going full circle and having something worth doing anything and everything in their power to save. A story full of darkness with a small splattering of light in the middle before the dark descends again, leaving you wondering if the light will ever pop up again. It is a deep fast paced plot and written so well I was just engulfed into it, lost to my reading until I finished it and then because of the massive high I fell flat. So wound up tight with all that had happened I couldn’t believe it had ended, don’t get me wrong it wasn’t a cliff hanger but the emotional ups and downs of the story as a whole had me strung tight and I had nowhere to go at the end. Fabulous book by both these authors and I see this being a best seller. (
King’s Ransom by B.T Urruela and CD Bradley 5 stars
Can two people from completely different worlds find love in an extreme environment? Annalise is a prima ballerina and daughter to a Senator. Everything in her life is rigid and unforgiving. She has serious scars on her soul, she’s looking for a way out and plans her own way out. Her Father the Senator has secrets and has ticked off the wrong people. The MC is looking for payback from him and they find the only way to extract that payment is through his Daughter. On the night of her debut she takes matters into her own hands. Dimitri is the VP to his club and meets Annalise when she becomes his charge in the ransom demand to her father. I truly enjoyed their conversations as he sat guarding her from the less savory members of his club. Annalise is broken in so many ways and Demitri is not far behind her.
There are no hearts and flowers in this story it’s rough and gritty. I’m unsure of how these authors wrote a book so seemlessly it flowed and was a great escape to read- Carolyn for Book Haven Book Blog
This is a very intense passionate storyline that I enjoyed, well once it got going. The primous of the book was exceptional. I loved the characters involved. They were well defined and I felt the pain and inner torment of the two lead characters. However, in my very humble opinion, there was very little MC action until the latter part of the book and then it really took off and I loved it. But the middle of just seemed to drag rather than flow. I wouldn’t let that be a reason to not read this very heartfelt book, I am simply stating my opinion.
If there are to be more in this series, I would definitely read the next one to see where the ride takes us. But I would personally hope there would be more MC action and a quicker pace to the plot. But all in all it was a good read and I’d recommend it.
Fabulous collaboration!!
From the first page, I was made a part of this story ~ I could picture it all vividly. I experienced it all with the characters and won’t soon forget it or them.
This is NOT a hearts and flowers HEA love story ~ it’s ugly and filled with corruption, deception, betrayal, loss, and abandonment from people who one should be able to expect the opposite. It’s a story filled with pain, yet in it’s ugliness, some are provided the opportunity to heal in ways they couldn’t have otherwise.
At times, as I read, I believed the story was going in a certain direction, but realized it was too obvious. I then took my thoughts in a completely opposite direction, but BT and CD took it in a direction I didn’t see coming and it was perfect!!!
This is the first collaboration between these writers and I hope for more. Their writing styles work very well together ~ as I read I attempted to determine who was writing at different times throughout the story, but their styles blended/flowed in such a way that it was as though written by one.
If you haven’t read either author in the past, THIS is the perfect way to be introduced to their work. King’s Ransom is a MUST read!!!
I certainly hope we get more of the South Side Sinners MC.
King’s Ransom blew me away!
It kept me on the edge of my seat, flipping pages so I could find out how this story would unfold. It wasn’t a pretty story. It brought some of the ugly that humanity has to offer, yet through the cracks you could find the goodness in others.
Dimitri and Annalise come from different worlds, but lived in the same city. They are so different and they each wore their masks to cover their pain, but as they spend time together the similarities of their lives came out and their masks started coming down. They began building a bond between them as if their broken souls needed the other to find their way out from the darkness they each have been living in. Unfortunately, in order to get out of their current hell they have to figure out who the enemy is and face them head on!
I am an avid fan of MC stories, and in my opinion, this is the best one I have read to date! Dimitri and Annalise and as total opposite as can be, and from totally different worlds, but fate steps in and draws them together. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This talented duo of authors’, have done an amazing job in penning this tale, and I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read more of their work, and highly recommend for all.
