Cruel. Heartless. Quarantined.
The ruthless boys of Everlake Prep never saw lockdown coming.
But the virus isn’t their number one enemy.
I am.
And as if being confined to a boarding school for the elite wasn’t bad enough, now I’m stuck in isolation with the boys who hate me most too.
Saint, Kyan and Blake. The Night Keepers. Or so they call themselves. They’ve embodied the Native American … Native American legend which lives in this valley, taking on the role of the monsters who lurk in the forest. And though they act like beasts, they may also be the most tempting creatures I’ve ever seen.
With the virus escalating and my dad’s name splashed through the news, my entire world is falling apart. What he did has cast a dark shadow over me. And the Night Keepers want to make me pay for his crimes.
Then things went from bad to worse when I touched the sacred rock. A rock which supposedly holds a curse to bind me as the Night Keepers’ slave. And as crazy as it sounds, I decided to play along. Because there are things about me they don’t know. Things my dad has hidden from me for years. All I can be sure of is that I have to find a way to escape this school. But until then, those savage boys are making my life a living hell.
As the virus sweeps through the country and the world twists into something ugly and unknown, the kings of this school become true monarchs. Even the teachers bow to them now. And I’m kinda glad about that ‘stay six feet away from one another’ rule, because without it, I know they’d rip me apart.
At least there’s a silver lining. I’m cosying up to Coach Monroe. My hot as hell, brooding P.E. teacher who has a vendetta of his own against the Night Keepers. And with his help, I may succeed at doing more than escaping the clutches of these heartless fiends. I might even destroy them along the way.
My father taught me how to be strong.
How to prepare for the end of the world.
So this isn’t going to be the end of my world, mark my words.
But if I’m able to use my mind and body to bring these assholes to their knees, it might just be the end of theirs.
This is a high school bully RH series with off the charts angst, dark themes and is not for the faint of heart. Prepare to enrol at Everlake Prep. Bring your hand sanitiser, face masks and toilet paper to barter with, but don’t expect to hold onto them for long. Because it’s time to go into quarantine with the Night Keepers. And everything you own now belongs to them.

This really isn’t a good book. Creative for tying into the current pandemic, sure, but the “protagonist” is a narcissistic coward who thinks she’s better than every female in the world. She brags about her blonde hair and blue eyes, and claims she’s the goddess who can end the pandemic. Entitlement and arrogance much? She also abuses other women in the book. The mentality is so anti-feminist and toxic. And the lynching? Oh god, this book has more racist themes than I thought a book could ever had. It makes me more disappointed in the authors than anything. What year was this published again?
Audio Book Review

Wow! This is the first book in the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep series. This is a enemies-to-lovers trope. Tatum gets sent to a private school that is isolated in the middle of nowhere to stay safe from the Hades virus. The three guys that rule the school are the Knight Keepers. I can’t wait to start the next book! Bridget and Jake Bordeaux did an absolutely fantastic job narrating this book!
Updating to add the audiobook review. I loved reading this book but listening just takes it to a whole new level. These authors picked the perfect pair to bring this story to life. Each character has his own sound, personality and they just come alive! This Tory is emotional but hearing it. The pain, the anger, the frustration are so much more gut wrenching when listening. If I could give this story more stars because the smooth but intense audio just adds so much more I would!
Original review
When all the Covid started in March my friends and I joked it would only be a matter of time before there were Quarantine love stories. I have been hesitant to read any because really we get enough with covid ruining our lives already. But when this book kept popping up and being recommended as a great bully romance I finally caved! You know what. I am kicking my own ass die waiting so long! Seriously this book is phenomenal! It’s so much more then a book about a virus killing off the population. If you love academy books, bully books, end of days stories or what I see being a reverse harem in the next book then you can’t go wrong with this one. A new girl being left by her dad at a private school for the first time hits it off great or so she thinks. Until she realizes she’s called a teacher and a-hole, challenged the kings of the school and decided a romp in the hay was the way to go. This book brings the feels, crams then down your throat and then heaps some more on top! A fast paced, heart wrenching, pulling for the underdog rollercoaster that will make you groan in defeat, scream in agony and even shed a tear or two. But the authors do a great job because mixed in are moments of sarcastic goodness and moments that give you hope. (Just don’t get to attached to hope okay!)
Loved this book!
So I’ve had this audiobook for over a year and I have no idea why I hadn’t listened to it until now . When Tatum gets on the wrong side of the night keepers they make her life hell on earth but she’s strong and doesn’t back down .

I had a hard time getting into this book, especially because it had been years since I read a Reverse Harem book. I think that’s why it took me a while to get into it. It is also a bully romance and those can be a hit or miss with me. So far this one is good and the writing and pace was soo well done. I loved getting to know this new world and the characters in it. I love how strong and independent Tatum was, even when the stuff that she was going through was cruel to say the least. It was interesting that the authors chose to use a pandemic as a topic of the book. For me they did it in a way that was realistic, yet it did not hit too close to home for me to dislike it. Anyways, at the end of the book I was 1000% convinced that I wanted to start the next book in the series.

Interesting storyline with likeable heroine.
This story is told through alternating POVs: Tatum, Blake, Kyan, Saint, and Monroe. Tatum is the new student at Everly Prep who starts out on a good foot by impressing the student body as she proves to be a match for the Night Keepers. Blake, Kyan, and Saint are the Night Keepers, three boys who terrorize the other students and faculty with the power of their parents’ wealth and their own brutality. Monroe is the only faculty member who doesn’t bend to the Night Keepers’ will. He’s young and possesses some of the same traits as the Night Keepers, but he has his own motivations for being at Everly Prep.
The storyline of this novel is interesting and relevant. A deadly virus is sweeping around the world. Virologist Donovan Rivers decides it’s safer for his seventeen year old daughter to attend a school that is basically isolated in a scarcely populated area than staying with him while working to develop a cure. This may have been true had it not been reported that Rivers allegedly released the virus in an attack of terrorism. Now his daughter is at the hands of the son of one of the victims of the Hades Virus who decides to channel his grief into punishing Tatum for her father’s alleged sins.
In this first book of the four book series by Caroline Peckham & Susan Valenti Tatum is targeted by the ruthless Night Keepers who threaten Tatum’s friends if she doesn’t touch the sacred stone and take the Night Bond which states, “. . . that [according to legend] anyone who touches it willingly and gives the oath must become Night Bound to [the Night Keepers]. That means their soul will be owned by the Night Keepers along with their mind and body.” The rules are set by the boys: “‘You’re either doing something for us,’ Kyan supplied the first. ‘Or you’re with one of us,’ Blake gave the second. ‘Or you’re with all of us,’ Saint hissed the last.” To save her friends, Tatum swears the oath with one caveat: no sexual acts. This seals her fate.
Although united in the mindset of owning Tatum the three boys have vastly different ideas of how they want to dominate her. Blake, motivated by grief and anger over his mother’s unexpected death, wants to see her in pain and broken beyond repair. Saint, a near psychopath (who I can’t imagine ever liking), wants a doll that he controls. He wants to dress her, dictate her very detailed schedule, and most of all punish her when she inevitably fails to meet his expectations. Kyan, the bad boy with his own secrets, wants to see how far he can push her and enjoys the fight in her. This creates small fissures in their group. It’s in this power struggle that one of the most devastating blows is delivered to Tatum by the hands of Saint as Blake and Kyan stand by and watch. Tatum turns to Monroe who she has been increasingly leaning on for support and with whom she’s been plotting to take down the Night Keepers. As he encourages her to return to continue working against their common enemy, that enemy is going from brawling over their concept of “owning” Tatum to working out a plan to equalize and clarify their expectations of her and each other. Before these plans can materialize an attack is made upon the school and now as one ALL members of the Everly Prep community must fight to protect themselves and their homestead. At the end of Kings of Quarantine leadership has shifted, a fourth Night Keeper has evolved into existence, a death pact has united five souls, and Everly Prep has been exposed to the Hades virus.
It’s an exciting story. I recommend it to anyone who likes bully romance novels, but be prepared. Even having the POVs of the boys there is little to encourage the reader to like them. In contrast I think the reader will like Tatum and become invested in her story and become intrigued by Monroe’s mysterious backstory. I have not finished the series so I do not know where all of this is going or if the journey will be enjoyable.

.
Kings of Quarantine is a dark bully romance. This is the first book in the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep.
.
Tatum starts the new school year at elite Everlake Prep school, hoping to make some friends, before she can go back to traveling with her father, who is virologist and looking for a cure for the Hade Virus. Of course, nothing goes as planned, because not long after, the truth about her father comes out, and makes Tatum Blake’s, Saint’s and Kyan’s – the Night Keepers, enemy No.1.
.
Tatum is a strong character. I love how she talks back to them, and despite everything the guys put her through she keeps on fighting and refuses to break.
.
The Nights Keepers, the stuff they did to Tatum were so messed up. Blake, at this point I just hate him, the same with Saint, the psycho control freak. Kyan is not much better than the other two. The only one who is nice to Tatum is Nash because they have the same agenda. Let’s just say I am really interested in their redemption arc, which should be pretty damn good if I am supposed to start to like them.
.
This book is very dark and heavy on bullying. It also has some funny parts, and I love how Kyan messes with Saint’s stuff, because he knows it is going to piss him off.
When I read the first chapter from Saint’s POV, I thought about putting the book down, but I ended up enjoying the book and I plan on reading the other books in the series at some point.
What did I just read…..? I thought maybe the bad reviews were just some people who couldn’t handle a little bullying in a book. No. This takes it to a new level and that’s coming from someone who loved Lords of Mercy.
5 stars for Kings of Quarantine by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. This is book one in the Brutal Boys of Everylake Prep series. So first I will start by saying this book is extremely dark. I found this book captivating. I was addicted from the first page. This is a reverse harem with some extreme dark parts that could trigger some. I won’t lie I hated Saint, Kyan, and Blake in this book. I am hoping it changes in future books. These three are known as The Night Keepers and now Tatum is their slave. A virus is rampant and it seems Tatum’s dad is responsible for it being out in the world. Bring in book two.
REVIEW:
This is my second reread of the book and it’s still a fantastic read!! Words cannot describe how I feel! I literally felt like I was reading it for the first time. That’s how amazing this story is. Tatum Rivers starts at Everlake prep after her father drops her off. She’s used to moving place to place, so this doesn’t seem that different. However, this is where she meets the boys that will change her life: the Nightkeepers. + Monroe. Caroline and Susanne have such a way with words that you’re instantly pulled into the story. You feel that you are along Tatum’s journey as the new girl and then bound by the boys who torment her. I do feel also that these boys slowly change into men the more they are with Tate.
———
““We look after our own,” he said in a low voice. “It’s cutthroat, baby, but it’s how we survive. We’re extending that to you, so you’d better remember to offer the same courtesy.””
“Tatum Rivers was something much more important than that, but none of us were going to even attempt to put a name on exactly what that was.”
“There was a warrior living in Tatum Rivers’ flesh, and I for one was glad we hadn’t destroyed her.”
Dude this was way intense and I’ve got to say if you’ve only ever dipped your toe slightly in the bully romance genre then this one is probably not the best one to start off with because man it was bloody brutal and way way extreme at times it was also quite hard to read and this one is definitely not for the faint of heart the bullying of Tatum is full-on no holds barred vicious and cruel and really makes you want to hate the night keepers all the more because of it.
The only one that seemed slightly redeemable here is kyan and believe me he is also a total shit-bag to our girl but compared to Blake and the worst one of them all Saint he’s practically all warm and fuzzy. We also have Monroe the PE teacher who’s a bit of an all-round asshole but does find his agenda matching Tatum’s he wants to destroy Saint’s family so with goals aligned he finds himself becoming her reluctant knight and protector.
This was all sorts of fucked up I can’t stress enough how extreme the bullying was here.
Saint is especially unredeemable in his actions not just to Tatum but to all else. I’m fact these boys are complete monsters in the way they treat everyone and they have such a sense of superiority it’s unreal. They really are entitled silver-spoon ass-holes.
You may ask the reason behind this supposed hatred and harsh treatment well Tatum’s dad is apparently the one to unleash the Hades virus on the world. The same one that killed Blake’s mum so poor Tatum is given the blame by the whole school for this even though she’s actually blameless.
Tatum well this girl has nerves of steel and is not easily cowed despite everything she’s been put through she comes up fighting. Refusing to break and giving as good as she gets.
Totally addictive reading but man I wanted to knock some heads together preferably Saint’s and Blake’s.
Saint is a total control freak with a god complex he’s cold psychotic and lacks a conscience. Blake blames Tatum for his mum’s death which is a totally idiotic mindset considering she had nothing to do with it seeing him go from warm to the total opposite with Tatum was hard and he really seems to actually venomously hate her. kyan was a little better he’s the tattooed fighter of the group but he still didn’t stand up for Tatum. The worst part of this for me was when Saint burnt something precious of Tatum’s and he could see how much it affected her and the other two didn’t even try to stop him it was just so spiteful, there was also a scene with Blake that completely shocked me as well. Thank god for the addition of Monroe he was Tatum’s only lifeline here.
This is the first book in a four-part series it’s set at a boarding school during a pandemic and it’s relatively slow-burn reverse-harem so you’re going to see a lot of abuse in this first book. Got to say discounting Monroe and maybe Kyan slightly these boys definitely have an uphill battle to redeem themselves in my eyes. I won’t be holding my breath at the moment I’d gladly shoot Saint and Blake, kyan has escaped the same fate literally by the skin of his teeth and I’m definitely team Monroe all the way.
I’m still slightly stunned and shell-shocked by this one I feel like I’ve been thrown in the deep end and it’s sink or swim my previous exposure to this particular genre well let’s just say that was at about a ten and this is definitely at a hundred. But I will be definitely reading the next book in the series how could I not and also a heads up this book is a long one.

Confession time: I’m not really into Reverse Harem romance type of book, though don’t get me wrong I have my fair share of RH/Polyamorous relationship under my belt. Safe to say that Reverse Harem is probably my least favourite trope in Romance Genre…
So anyway, I was reading Kings of Quarantine (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep #1) by Caroline Peckham, Susanne Valenti for the past 2 days it took me a while to finish it off mainly because the book is more than 500 pages, it was time-consuming and lengthy as fuck! So the question, is it worth it? In my opinion YES. The story alone is very engaging, has a great set of characters, and interesting world-building. What I most like about the book is the way it was narrated by giving everyone a counterbalance standpoint.
Even though the writing structure of the book is very much descriptive, storyline-wise I think it’s suited just fine. I think it was integral primarily in terms of plot and character development as the story continues. We need the depth and profound connection for the relationship dynamic to work. Since this book was a lot, of course, the romance is a slow burn as fuck, with lots of angst, push and pull circumstance, and HEAVY bullying. The Hero’s in this book let’s just say are very unlikable same as for the heroine. There are times you will feel angry and frustrated with their actions. The hot and cold disposition will give you whiplash. But don’t worry because this is a SERIES, character growth will occur eventually.

This series is everything! I read this during quarantine and it just made it so much better! Top 10 series for me. It had everything a book should. After seeing the. page count I was a little nervous that this would be a drawn out boring book but every chapter, every page had me glued. Will we ever truly know what the squid means?
I honestly didn’t think that I would like this one because of how hardcore the bullying is, but I was totally wrong. This book was so addicting! There were definitely moments where I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep reading, but having multiple POVs for all of the characters helps to understand their viewpoints and reasoning behind their actions. Don’t get me wrong, the guys are utter jerks for a majority of the book but Tatum is determined to stand up for what is right no matter the cost.
It was interesting to see how these elites reacted to a quarantine and virus outbreak. When Blake, Saint, and Kyan (the Night Keepers) make Tatum their Night Bound, they want to break her but throughout the book you can see how its become an obsession to keep her. All of their interactions are intense, but they think that her father was the cause of the outbreak while she’s determined to prove that he wasn’t. Monroe seems to want to help her, but even he doesn’t understand his own reasoning for it. By the end of the book, they are all bonded by something unexpected – whether they like it or not.
There are so many mysteries and secrets woven throughout the book. This is more than just a bully romance. I can’t wait to see where the authors take us in the next book and how they plan on making the Night Keepers semi-redeemable.
These boys are so naughty! Tatum is amazing and this storyline is just so captivating! The twists between the characters and their emotions and actions have hooked me and I can’t wait for more!
“Yeah, him and his friends Saint and Kyan. They call themselves the Night Keepers,” she said ominously, glancing around her as if there was a sudden chill in the air. I almost felt it too.’
Kings of Quarantine is a BULLY (huge emphasis on bully, because the shit they do to her is just wow) reverse harem romance series, and does end on a cliffhanger.
“These boys were a different breed. A dangerous breed. The kind you had to make see you as an equal if you wanted to walk away alive.”
It follows our heroine, Tatum Rivers, who has just started a new boarding school. And our heroes, The Nightkeepers, Blake Bowman, Kyan Roscoe, and Saint Memphis. All of which rule the school. As well as, Coach Monroe.
“We were bound by her. This girl who’d shown up out of nowhere and managed to claim a hold on the corrupted souls of four broken monsters.”
Note: This book does take place during a pandemic called the Hades Virus.
This is my first book by this author duo and I LOVED this book?? It had me sucked in pretty much right away, I didn’t want to put the book down! And I can’t wait to start the next book ASAP.
The main dudes were definitely huge assholes, that I wanted to murder for most of the book. And Tatum, is so badass, I loved her so much.
I really enjoyed the authors writing styles, and the plot was amazing. Characters, while some of them were assholes, were very well done. I am curious to see how the author’s are going to redeem them, because right now, I don’t know if anything can.
“Each of us was capable of real ferocity when it came to protecting what was ours. And Tatum Rivers was ours. We’d written it in blood.”
All in all, I really enjoyed this book, and HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for a high school bully rh read. 5/5 STARS!
Oh my goodness, where do I even start with this book. First off, this is a contemporary academy bully reverse harem romance, wow that is a mouthful. The bullying is heavy in this story but I promise it will be worth it as the story goes on.
Tatum is forced by her father to go to finish her senior year at Everlake Preparatory. Usually she follows her dad around to wherever his PHD in virology is needed. However, with the Hades Virus becoming a bigger issue, Tatum needs the stability of Everlake.
The school is run by Saint, Kyan and Blake, the Night Keeps, three individuals who are supposedly the protectors of Everlake, at least according to a Native American legend they are. One of the biggest rules is to never touch the sacred stone, if you do your soul belongs to the Night Keepers. As things for Tatum go from bad to worse, she touches the stone and becomes the slave of the Night Keepers. At least she has an ally in Monroe, the very sexy P.E. Teacher. But the Hades Virus is getting worse out there and those within the secluded Everlake Prep might not be as safe as they believe.
This book is dark and oh so amazing! There is so much angst, hatred, lust and betrayal. It is an absolute must read!
This I Swear, is A Honest To Goodness 5/5 Star Rating.
This is a memorable read for me!
Cliffhanger(?): Heck to the Yeah!
Heat: 4.5/5, this is Book 1 after all, but what was provided in this book is sooo good!
Sexual Tension: 5/5
Bully: 5/5, Love it!, I’m a Hardcore Bully & Dark Bully reader, I want my bullies to actually bully and not weirdly immediately become softer. I enjoy their consistency.
Dark: 3.5-4ish/5, It May be Considered Darker to Other Readers 🙂
Drama: 5/5
Suspense: 5/5
Romance: Let’s not rate this JUST Yet. Lol
Relationship Type: Reverse Harem!! MFMMM!
M/M(?): No.
Predictability: Zip.Zero.Ziltch out of 5! This was so refreshing, I have No Idea what’s going to happen at anytime and no idea what’ll happen in book 2. The guys aren’t predictable and neither is Tatum. I was kept on the edge of my seat from the very beginning to the very end!
I’m so happy to reread this book, I’m jumping into book 2 now!
This is my first book from this author and it was a good read. This truly is a quarantine story and there were some moments in this story that had me laughing out loud. However, I’m not really loving the main male characters in this story right now but I’m willing to give Saint, Kyan and Blake another chance. I do like Nash, the P.E. Teacher. I’m not sure how I’m feeling about Tatum yet. Her character says how much training her dad has given her yet, when she was trying to leave the school I thought she gave up to easy. I mean, why have a gun and not use it. She also let the boys man-handle her too much and not do anything. I wanted her to put her training to use and although she got a punch in, I wanted her to do more damage. This story ended with a cliffhanger and I’m willing to give the next book in this series a try. I hope the story gets better. It seems now that things between the boys, Nash and Tatum have change but I hope that it’s for the better and the boys don’t go back to acting like asses because if they do, the next book will be my last one in this series.
This is a dark bully (heavy on the bullying) reverse harem. Tatum is dropped off at a prep school for her senior year by her dad, right before a pandemic hits. A group of guys bully her and other kids to the point of curtly, but Tatum is a total badass who never stops fighting back. The bond between the guys is awesome, and the banter between all the characters is hilarious! I loved this series! The cliffhangers between each of the books was KILLER! The final book, Queen of Quarantine ended the story perfectly!
