INDY

And the sooner we get it done, the better.
Because I want to see Cade as much as I want a hole in the head.
He broke me once—no, he broke my everything— and I’ll be damned if I’ll let him do it again.
Get in and get out. That is the plan.

This is my one of the few MC books I’ve read and it was nice read.
Kings of Mayhem by Penny Dee is book One in the Kings of Mayhem Series and focuses on Indy and Cade. Both were childhood friends that fell in love and planned to go to college as a couple but unfortunately Indy catches Cade with another girl which causes them to break up and Indy to leave.
Fast forward 12 years later, Indy has come back home for her father’s funeral. This leads her back in touch with Cade. Both still have lingering feelings for each other and follows their journey as they fall in love again as well as Indy finding herself again.
This book was written well. I enjoyed seeing Cade and Indy’s life as children and teenagers as well as them in the present. Their chemistry was palpable and real and I also enjoyed the twists and turns this book included.
This was a sweet, sassy and sexy book to read! I absolutely loved Cade and Indy! This is a great second chance romance with characters you fall immediately in love with. I loved the flashbacks when they were young and how they fell in love at 5 years old. Cade was always there for Indy. He was her protector and best friend but then he wasn’t. Flash forward 12 years later.. Cade has made a name for himself and bulked up since Indy last saw him. Her heart hasn’t forgotten about him all those years. He still holds her heart. It’s clear to see the love between the two of them. The book is a great start to get to know these characters and ends on freakin sad note.. I still can’t believe that happened but I know it will fuel the fire for book 2. I found a new MC series to love!
The first book in the Kings of Mayhem MC series was outstanding. This book was an exciting easy read and a definite page turner. It was next to impossible to put down. I was so into the story that my emotions got the better of me. I loved reading the story of Cade and Indy. And seeing both characters friendship grow from childhood friends to teenage lovers, planning for a HEA. Right before heading off to college the MC throws a going away party. During the party Indy heads off to find Cade. She finds him in bed with another woman, whom he thinks is her. Before Indy has any answers she runs from the MC with more then a broken heart. She doesn’t just leave behind Cade, but she leaves behind every memory and her family and friends. 12 years pass when Indy’s father dies it causes Indy to return home. She plans once the funerals done that she will head back to the life she has now. Indy isn’t looking forward to having to see Cade. She arrives home not realizing that she has amends to make and some destruction to fix from 12 years before. Things dont go as she plans when feelings she ditched long ago come back with avengance. If you love reading MC stories, this book is a MUST READ.
Once I finished “Kings of Mayhem”. I had to read the next book in the series, “Brothers In Arms” to satisfy my curiosity of the first books ending. It definitely will leave you hanging.
Cade and Indy grew up as MC kids since the age of five. Their friendship grew into love until it all ended. Indy left town heartbroken and tried to live a new life for twelve years. She returns to town after the death of her father and her emotions and feeling are brought to the surface when she is reunited with Cade.
This book was well written with the story shifting from the past to the present so that we get a full understanding of the characters. Awesome dual POV with heart and emotion. A great start to this MC series
Wow! What a fantastic beginning to a series I need more of! I love Motorcycle genres, and this is one of the best I’ve read in a while. The storyline is great. Childhood friends to second chance loves. Cade & Indy’s story is not easy to read because well, it’s a motorcycle genre. It’s everything you expect and a whole lot more. The emotion and the ending, really?
Cade and Indy have been together most of their lives, they started as friends and grew into so much more, that is until Cade made a mistake he couldn’t take back. 12 years later when Indy comes back to bury her father and she walks back into her past and realizes she doesn’t know who she is anymore. This was a great story and I loved Indy and Cade’s journey. I highly recommend this story but just so you know it ends in a cliff hanger but your in luck because the next book is already out.
3.5 Stars! This is my first book by Penny and thought that it was a good book. Was there things I would change yes, but in the end I enjoyed the book and look forward to where the series is going to go.
I am not usually a fan of second chance romance because they can tend to be annoying to read and they will probably involve cheating and thats really not a favorite of mine. I will say after reading this story there was more to the story than met the eye!
Cade and Indy grew up together. They were neighbors, childhood best friends, and then they dated. Fast forward 12 years and Indy have left Destiny and never looked back. She is jaded because of Cade’s indiscretion and her home life. She comes back to town with her nose in the air not. I was frustrated with her because she could not make up her mind about what she wanted. Cade won me over because although he did cheat he did not give up trying to make Indy see the big picture. He went with every punch she threw at him. The book took me throw so many emotions and it was successful in keeping my attention all the way through.
I am glad that I do not have to wait for the next book to dive into!
For the past several years, I’ve become addicted to MC romances, and when I saw the opportunity to get an advance reader copy of the first book in a new MC series, from a new-to-me author, I requested it and I am so glad that I did because there was just so much to like about this novel, which is why I’m giving this series starter 4.5 stars.
This is at heart, a second chance romance, and I’m a sucker for those as well, and that’s exactly what we have in the two main characters, Cade and Indy (Indigo), who have been best friends since early childhood, both raised by parents who were prominent members of the Kings of Mayhem MC, and who were also next door neighbors. From early childhood, whenever Indy’s parents would fight, she’d climb out of her bedroom window and into Cade’s, finding comfort in the arms of her best friend.
Cade admits to falling in love with Indy when they were both 5 years old. But as all romance readers know, the path to love and lasting relationships is a long and bumpy one, and what hooked me on these two characters were the past/present jumps in time between Cade and Indy, first as children, then a couple of years later, then into their teen years and finally, the one mistake that cost Cade dearly–it cost him Indy, who left town and didn’t return for a dozen years, and then, 12 years later, returned only to attend her father’s funeral, a father who she once loved but who became a bitter, angry, abusive monster in her eyes after the untimely death of her teenage brother, Bolt.
If angst and drama are your thing, there’s plenty of both in this novel, which works so effectively because in addition to seeing these characters grow and mature, the fact that this novel is told in dual narration gives the reader a chance to learn who they are, how they think, how they feel, and how their relationship from childhood best friends to adult lovers developed over time. It was a smart decision on the part of Ms. Dee to her give readers the kind of insight into each characters’ mind, that is only possible when a story is told from two different points of view.
Twelve years is a long time to be apart for two people who once claimed to love one another, but a stupid, drunken mistake cost Cade dearly. Indy caught him in bed with another girl, and that one event crushed Indy emotionally, and rather than giving Cade a chance to explain, she was out of there, something she’d wanted since she was 14 years old, which is when her parents marriage became violent and her father became abusive. Although the two lovers were supposed to go to college together, Indy left alone, but after Cade tried to get Indy back by following after her, and practically begging for her forgiveness, she wasn’t shy about telling him that she no longer loved him, and she even goes so far as to get a restraining order against him.
When Indy finally shows up 12 years later, she’s still angry at Cade because of his betrayal, but she’s still attracted to him as well, and Cade, although he’s bedded many women over the years, is still deeply in love with Indy, but Indy isn’t yet ready to forgive him or forget him, and eventually she acknowledges to herself that she never stopped loving him, but there’s no way she plans on telling him that, no matter how many hoops he’s willing to jump through to get her back. Indy is also surprised by how comfortable she feels among the rest of the MC, who were once her extended family, and that’s especially true of her mom, who missed her terribly while she was gone.
During her 12 year absence, Indy became a physician. Does she now consider herself above Cade? Will he ever succeed in winning back her love? She’s perfectly willing to sleep with him during her visit home, Cade thinks she wants him back, and is hurt when he realizes that her intention is to get Cade out of her system, not get him back into her life, but is that even possible? Can she ever forgive his one drunken indiscretion? Did she judge him too harshly back then? Should she have let him explain before running off? For answers to these questions, you’re going to have to read this emotionally charged and highly engaging novel, which, I should mention, contains a lead-in to the next novel in the series, and it’s one that I cannot wait to read–I’m officially hooked on this series, and I think you will be too.
As stated at the outset, I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
I did not expect the book to end this way and I look forward to reading book 2. I did not like the back and forth between Indy and Cade however it was a nice story. I just wished Indy would have made up her mind a bit sooner and that Cade wouldn’t keep mentioning his past sexually exploits. Other than that it was a good MC book.
This was my first ready by Penny Dee. Kings of Mayhem is book One in the Kings of Mayhem Series.
Kings of Mayhem is Indy and Cade’s story. They grew up together, around the MC, and their friendship grew into love. They were destined for each other, even college plans, until that one fateful night when Indy caught Cade cheating on her. Indy fled her home town and everything that was associated with it to pursue her career in the medical field.
It’s not until 12 years later when Indy heads back to her hometown when her father passes away. She doesn’t want to see Cade, despite the fact that she hasn’t stopped thinking about him for the past 12 years.
Will Indy be able to let go of the hurt and finally forgive Cade and pursue the love she has always known she wanted?
While I did enjoy this book Cade was not my favorite hero by any means. He can be hard to swallow at times but this is just my opinion. I had a hard time overcoming a lot of aspects of Cade’s personality.
A second chance romance and a MC book wrapped up in one. Normally I hate a book with cheating but I gave this one shoot and I’m glad I did. There was plenty of action, emotion and everything MC related. I really enjoyed how both Cade and Indy struggled to move past their hurt and anger to become a stronger couple years later. I good read that ends with a minor cliffhanger for another character, off to a good start on a new MC series.
I am super picky on my MC reads. I decided to give Kings of Mayhem a chance and I am so glad I did.
I actually read these in the hospital while my mom was sick. Cade and Indy kept me up all night as they sucked me into their storyline. They had a slow burn in their reconciling and nothing comes easy just like in real life.
Give Penny Dee a chance – you won’t be disappointed.
Wow. Kings of mayhem was breathtaking, from start to finnish it had me captived. A wonderful story.
This book is so good! So good that I don’t even have words for how good it is. The story of Cade and Indy spans over approximately 25 years and the push and pull and emotions that are involved are almost too much to handle. My heart ached at all the right places. It rejoiced at all the other right places. The secondary characters have been given enough depth to be able to fall in love with them as well. I’m completely pulled into the works of the Kings of Mayhem and I cannot wait to read the second installment.
Cade Calley had broken her heart, literally destroyed her. Indy had spent twelve years trying to forget how much she missed him. But the call came that her father was dead and she had to come face to face with the past. Cade had barely breathed the last twelve years. When he sees her again, he knows that he has to get her back in his arms again. If not, there won’t be anything left of him…
Oh wow, wow, I just need to say that this was an awesome read. Cade is my new favorite MC book boyfriend. This guy went through the wringer and I don’t know how Indy walked away from him, ever. Indy was a tad frustrating but it was very believable that she spent the last twelve years pushing down her feelings about him. That level of avoidance becomes habitual and is hard to break away from. I had to walk away from it several times as I wanted to climb in there and knock her upside the head and shout “SNAP OUT OF IT”. I didn’t see the ending coming and I read it with my jaw on the floor. I’m dying for the next book!
There are times that the back and forth time frames of this book can give you a bit of whiplash, but overall Cade and Indy’s story was well written, interesting, somewhat predictable, but a solid read. There were a ton of secondary characters to keep straight, twists and turns, and sexy, sexy fun. A solid 4 stars
Extremely entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong and intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Damn that was GOOD!!! I completely loved this Book, enough to read it almost through the night. It had everything even than dang Cliffhanger. Cant wait for book 2 and I just found a New Author and I absolutely love her work.
A refreshing spin on a MC story. Penny Dee wove an intricate second chance romance between two people who let misunderstandings keep them separate for twelve years. Indy having to come home to bury her father and face the man who broke her heart. Cade trying to fix the mistake he made and get her back. Years of misguided anger and a love that has withstood time. I look forward to the next book to see where this story goes.
Wow! Let me set off saying this ends with a big hangover! Fortunately, the next book is out! This was a great book. I kinda got fed up with Indy though…I mean 12 years is a long time to hold a grudge! I loved Cade from the start and as the story went on I loved him more. We get glimpses of this couple from age 5 to present and their chemistry was off the charts. I can’t wait to dive into the next book.
