And I’m going to show her all the reasons why we should be together and make her forget all the reasons why we shouldn’t.
INDY
I’m back in town but only because I have to be.
I’m here to help my mom bury my father.
And the sooner we get it done, the better.
Because I want to see Cade as much as I want a hole in the head.
He broke me once—no, he broke my everything— and I’ll be damned if I’ll let him do it again.
Get in and get out. That is the plan.
But you know what they say about best-laid plans.

This is a good solid story. Each of the characters has multiple layers. We see the whys and how that some things were done throughout the story. My biggest problem was I only connected with Indy and Cade. The rest seemed just background noise. So while I liked this story I don’t have a lot of interest in going on to the next.
Cade and Indy will captivate and draw you into this thrilling story. Theirs was a lov that grew from childhood until Cade tore them apart. Indy was devastated when she caught Cade in a compromising position which sent her away from their town never to return that is until the death of her father. Back to support her mother she was only going to be there for as long as it took to bury her father. Indy never expected that she would reconnect with Cade or that her feelings never died only were buried. Will these two be able to put aside their past to capture a second chance for a happily ever after?
I have so many words and I don’t have so many words. This book really got me and might have broken me. I was on a roller coaster of emotions and I didn’t know which way to go. I was on the fence at first and I was not happy with Cade but with every book there is always more to the story and once the twists and turns and everything was exposed, I know where every party was coming from. I was definitely rooting for Indy and Cade even if they both frustrated me to no end at certain points. But that’s how I know a book really gets to me and that’s with the emotions I go through. A must-read.
Kings of mayhem is the first book in the Kings of Mayhem MC series by Penny Dee and this story starts with a bang. We see through the eyes of both Cade and Indy, best friends who grew into something more for life to get in the way and Cade betraying Indy in the worst possible way. Indy ends up running away only to come back to her hometown and the local MC with the death of her father, but coming back isn’t as easy as she thinks after ostracizing herself from her family for so long. Some people aren’t as forgiving as she thinks they should be and she also has to deal with the feelings she has for Cade, who is now all grown up.
This was an enjoyable read, mainly due to the fact that I like MC romances and this one was no different although it did seem to have a deeper feel regarding what goes on in an MC and what people’s role are. I really liked Cade as a character and I think he was quite fair with Indy, especially with the way that she treats him through the majority of the book, even when you find out what really happened that night and Indy still harbors bad feelings towards him and the MC life in general.
Indy to be honest annoyed me as a character for most of the book, I found her to be really judgmental, non-supportive and quite narcissistic. She didn’t treat people very nicely and basically needed to have a sit down with people, air her grievances and grow up a little bit. But, saying that Cade and Indy really work well together as a couple and you are hoping that they can work through all of their issues before you get to the end of the book.
I liked the backstory regarding both of the characters and they have certainly been through some challenging times. This story does end on a cliff-hanger and it will be interesting to see what happens not only with Cade and Indy but also other characters in this book.
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

First time reader of this author and I enjoyed Kings of Mayhem, I began reading it on a Sunday afternoon and was finished by bedtime. There are some very interesting characters amongst the mc members, the mc Queen, Sybil who is in her 70’s was a riot. The storyline was missing something for me, it was all relationship drama and not the usual mc business. I’ve downloaded Brothers in Arms because it sounds like it may have more mc action and maybe this book is the intro into their world and Cade and Indy’s relationship.
4.5 stars
Its no secret that MC romances are my favourite and I am always on the look out for new authors and MC series for me to stalk/follow and I have another great one in the Kings of Mayhem MC by Penny Dee.
As soon as I started this series I was completely hooked. Penny Dee has given me great characters to love and obsess over along with a storyline that draws me in and keeps me captivated from beginning to end.
Indy has returned home after 12 years of staying away from home for her fathers funeral. Her plan is to stay for the funeral and leave straight away as she doesn’t want to be back at home near him, near the boy that ripped her teenage heart out all those years ago, Cade. They had grown up next door to each other, they were each others everything until he screwed it all up one night.
The connection between Indy and Cade is still there and still vibrant and electric, even if she doesn’t want to admit it. Cade knows he made the mistake that let her go years ago but now she is back in front of him he will do everything he can to win her back.
Penny Dee has written this really well. The story flows and along with the twists and turns, its an addictive read. After the way she ended this one I am so glad/relieved that I have the next book already to read as I wouldn’t have wanted to wait in between as I am too impatient and this series is too good.
I am kinda obsessed with MC books so when I got the opportunity to read the Kings of Mayhem series, I was super excited to dive in and read them!
Starting with Book one, I will work my way through the series until I reach the newest release that was released this past July.
Kings of Mayhem focuses on the story of Indigo and Cade. Best friends from a very young age, these two grow up together in the MC. Neighbors and best friends, they become more! When Cade ultimately betrays her trust, Indigo runs to the other side of the country and stays away for TWELVE years!
Cade never stopped loving Indigo and as he sleeps his way through woman after woman, he realizes he can’t escape the love he has for his one true love. When the passing of Indigo’s father brings her back into town, Cade knows he has to fight to get her stay.
Indigo is probably one of my favorite heroins. She does piss me off from time to time and there are times I wanted to reach into my book and slap her, but ultimately, she is a badass. Her heart was shredded by Cade and her lack of trust in the MC is because of her tumultuous past. She ran to get away from it all, leaving her one true love. Coming back to town isn’t something she wants to do, but has to do, even if it means stirring up old feelings.
I love the dynamic between Cade and Indigo. The tension between them is so thick that you can cut it with a dull butter knife. When they come together, the sparks unite and build a fire so hot and steamy, you can’t help but fan yourself and take a nice long drink of ice cold water.
I am so excited to continue diving into the world of this series! I will be back for a review on book two!
What a great balance of introductions and suspense! After a terrible breakup, Indy left home with no plans of returning and establishes her life across the country. But when her father suddenly passes away, she returns home to support her mother, and ends up addressing her past in the process. Cade has been in love with Indy since he met her, and with one incident he lost her forever. When she returns home, he takes it as his chance to get her back and does anything and everything he can to do so. Throughout the flashbacks of their love story while also giving us the development of them getting back together. In addition to their love story, we also get introductions to everyone in the MC as well as past members and how their influence has affected Indy and Cade’s relationship as well as the MC as a whole. The ending of this story threw me through a loop and really brought the interest back into this series because it was totally unexpected and I can’t wait to read on!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Indy and Cade’s story was so devastating. They were soulmates and starting a future and one bad decision ruined everything. I usually hate moving from past to present but it flowed perfectly. The flashbacks of the past came at the time when you needed it the most. I loved both of these characters and was really hoping they would find their way back to each other. That ending has me rushing to book 2!
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
Promising start to the Kings of Mayhem MC series this book is my first read by this author. Full of chaos, mayhem and drama and not for the feint at heart as these boys don’t play by the rules. I liked this story and the characters and look forward to seeing what comes next
Kings of Mayhem by Penny Dee is the first book in her Kings of Mayhem MC series. An atypical MC story in that the focus is on the couple, Cade and Indy, much more than it is on the MC itself. Told in dual POV with flashes between the past and the present to slowly build toward the story of their long-standing relationship and the trials and tribulations they have both endured to get to their Happily Ever After. This has the feel of a second chance romance but it is also a bit dark and ends of a wickedly devastating cliffhanger. Fear not, book two is already out in the wild – so fear not, but man – this author’s writing style and story telling skills have made me a fast fan and I’m pretty sure she will end up on my Must-Read author list before I’m done with book two. Enjoy!
I love the cover! This was my first Penny Dee’s book. This is the first book, and a great introduction to the Kings of Mayhem MC Series. Cade and Indy’s story reminded me the TV Series, Sons of Anarchy. Their story is fast-paced, suspenseful and intriguing. This is a great second chance to love and MC romance. The story ends with a cliffhanger. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Emotionally Intense and Heartbreaking!
WOW! This story was one emotionally intense and heartbreaking roller coaster ride! There was so much heartache and love in the authors words, which made this story powerfully irresistible and captivating. I loved the way the author wrote chapters in the past and in the present. As you read it you got a better understanding of what went horribly wrong for the two main characters. I loved Cade and Indy. They are intense and full of so much love for each other. Their interactions and their connection is incredible and explosive. The way they love each other is powerful.
This is a fantastic MC story with an amazing cliffhanger of an ending. I can’t wait to dive into the next book. Highly recommend.
I’ve read books by this author before, but this is the first in her series of MC romance about the Kings of Mayhem. This is book 1 in a duet, both books being about Cade and Indy, and even though I’m not fond of cliff hangers, I couldn’t help but look forward to these. I love MC romance, and the blurb for these books drew me in, in that I’ve gotta read it right now kind of way.
Indy and Cade were both brought up in the MC. Both were children of members, and knew what the life was like, what was involved. They were always together, being best friends, and later, more. They are ripped apart, and Indy isolates herself from the club, her family, and Cade. Years pass, and she is brought home by her father’s death. She and Cade are thrown together, sparks fly, setting them both on fire. There are a lot of hurt feelings in this book, but there is more behind the story than is at first obvious. This story flips back and forth between now and when they were growing up, which could be confusing, but the author is really good about making it clear what time frame each section is occurring in. And the flash backs really help setting the tone of the story.
I assumed that since Kings of Mayhem and Brothers In Arms are both about Indy and Cade, that Kings of Mayhem was a cliff hanger. And it is. Thee story isn’t complete and it ends on a big question mark. But at the same time, Cade and Indy’s romance feels complete. This story doesn’t leave me with the feeling of unfinished business, the way most cliff hangers do. (That really drives me crazy!) I enjoyed Indy and Cade’s story, and I can’t wait to dive into the next part of it!
This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. Kings of Mayhem is the first book in the Kings of Mayhem MC series. This is the story of Cade and Indy, but it’s also about so much more. It’s about family, those you are born into and those who you choose.
Indy and Cade are MC Royalty. They have a lifelong friendship that lays the groundwork for a deep and abiding love. Even when outside forces try to dismantle it.
With plans for the future, one night, one action changed that path for both of them. Twelve years later, Indy is home to bury her father.
Cade has never moved on from her and vows to win her over again while she is home. Indy is afraid to put her heart in line to get hurt again. The one thing they both can agree on is the draw to one another is still there.
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. This ends on a cliffhanger.
I received a copy of this book as part of a blog tour. I am voluntarily giving my honest review.
i love Cade and Indy so much love how yuo can feel the chemistry and how they have a past that both still fell strongly about but both are bit scare or wont aknowledge that their feeling for each other are stll there ..will they be able to put past behind and make it a go for the futur .. hurry and get this book
A second chance story from two best friends who reconnect 12 years later. But have things changed? Can they ever be together? Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!
Cade and Indy have known each other their whole lives…their young love was all consuming and forever…until it wasn’t. Indy runs…and then tragedy has her coming back to face her past…and Cade. She is still so angry with him from the past…but he isn’t going to let that stop him from winning her back.
I did like the characters together, and I liked the back story that helped connect them emotionally . I found Indy a little frustrating in the way she tried to resist Cade and his quest to win her back.
This does end with some unresolved issues with the overall story plot…I would say it is a happy for now ending. I am undecided if I will read on…it is a little less MC than I thought it would be. All in all though good to give a chance.
This is the first book in this series and the first book I have read by this writer. A great MC book. A great storyline with amazing characters who have powerful chemistry. Fair warning the ending was gripping shocking all the above. Cade and Indy have loved each other since they were little. One huge mistake and she runs from Cade and her home until something tragic brings her back. But will coming back hurt her or heal her? I absolutely loved Cade and Indy. You can easily feel the love these two have for each other. Some strong emotions in this book. But also the rawness of the MC. I can’t wait to read the next one to know what happens. Highly recommend reading this one.Penny gained a fan of her MC books.
loved Cade and Indy. they spent 12 long years apart but when they are in the same town for her father’s funeral speaks fly and they pick up where they left off. Indy holds done reservations towards Cade because he broke her heart but she can’t fight the feelings she has for him. They spend more time together and they’re love blooms abs just as they are about to ride off into the sunset together disaster strikes and the book ends in a cliffhanger.
