If I didn’t already love Blake despite his cruel ways in the first book, I am now certain.
The power struggle between Blake and Snow does not diminish the attraction they clearly have. It was amazing to see Snow have more say in her own actions, more power and control in doing what she wanted. And I loved how mad it drove Blake.
What really touched me was how Snow and Blake were too broken to return to their old self yet their soul recognized one another. Seeing Snow peel back those haunting layers that Blake formed and seeing Blake unable to resist the temptation that is Snow, how he needs her, how he wants her were just heart-wrenching.
Lana Sky has a way where she can infuse passion and affection into the twisted, intense dark romance.
King’s Horses, Savage Fall Duet Book 2 by Lana Sky
Blake Lorenz spent the last ten years with one goal in mind, to take everything from the Hollings and to break Snowy. He accomplished both but it feels hollow to him. What he really wanted was the girl from their childhood, but he may have nearly killed her.
Snowy Hollings old life normally revolved around expensive couture fashion in bright colors or attending fashionable parties. Now, she finds them shallow and tiring. Snowy has changed and her cracks have edges.
Blake has tried to talk to Snowy for the last few months, but she won’t see him. When he first became obsessed with her family’s down fall, he never thought that he would end up falling for her again. He thought that died along with young Brandt but now he knows better. He refuses to let her go and will do anything necessary to get her back. The last few months have healed Snowy’s wounds but not her shattered heart. When they were younger, he would tell her “Kings Men, Snow. I’ll always be there to pick up the pieces.” What if he is the one that broke her in the first place? She knows that they can never be the two innocent children they were. There comes a time in your life when you must pick yourself up and do it yourself. Snowy finds her voice and starts to let go of childhood fantasies. They both slowly open up and start to trust each other. What he went through and what he finally shares with Snowy explains why he did what he did. When secrets from the past start to come to light and Blake needs her help, will Snowy be able to? Can she trust him or is this just another way for him to hold onto her?
Lana Sky is trying to kill me with her books, slowly but surely. The emotions she can put into each one will tear you apart along with her characters. I know that each time I open one to read and I do it willingly. I can still feel these two in my head and I will for a while because it happens after each of her books. Snowy matured so much from the first book and was able to take control of her life and use her voice. I think it shocked Blake at first but in the end, he was a little proud of her. Having Blakes POV was a special treat and you can understand him so much more. There are still pieces of Brandt in him and probably always will be. Both Snowy and Blake must let go of the past and start looking to the future instead. It just holds you back.
So, WOW. Book One was intense. Book Two? Emotionally raw. Beautiful. Anger, fear, concern for each other, and lust swirl together. It was riveting. Once I started reading, I could not stop until The End. Blood, sweat, and tears flow. All questions from the first book are answered, and this is a far cry from the predictable Knight In Shining Armor trope we are so used to.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest and voluntary review
This is the second book in the Savage Fall Duet. It takes place a few months after the first book, King’s Men. King’s Men was mostly about revenge and uncovering family secrets, where this book was more about dealing with the aftermath. All of the characters are dealing with the events in their own way. Some are turning to self destruction, while some are trying to get their lives back together. This includes two childhood friends and the love of each other’s lives. Will they be able to find their way back after the fallout?? I highly recommend this book!!!!!!!
This book devastated me. It was emotionally raw and gutted me. How can this couple go through so much pain and sorrow and survive on the other side
Snow is dragged through the gutter and still she keeps going on and trying to be her best self. She makes decisions based on others needs and never thinking about herself.
Blake needs to hate her, and he desperately tries to, but he loves Snow too much to despise her, but still he tries.
These stories wrecked me. I’m feeling drained. And that is the best compliment you an author can receive, that the reader FEELS the words and the story to their core
Dark and twisted but I loved all of it. My only complaint is the abrupt ending. I wish the last couple of chapters could have gone into further detail on their happy ending.
Sometimes the follow up disappoints but not this time. The characters’ storyline intersects in a way you can’t imagine. Just when you think it’s going to go one way, it spins and goes the other way.
Talk about *heart emoji* this book was exactly the type of ending that the twisted King’s Men needed.
Snowy and Blake’s story in King’s Men was anything but sunshine and roses. This entire story stems from Snowy’s family and past transgressions and sins. From what has been shown, her father was a vile and cruel man that had no issues working his way up the food chain using anything and everything in his vault to do so, including his family. This is shown even with his sons, Snowy’s brothers and how they combat the world.
Blake’s behavior in the first book showcases just how much Snowy’s father is an awful man. We now know who Blake is and his entire world was shattered by these horrible people, but he did not realize Snowy’s reasonings until the end of the first book. No matter how horrible he treated Snowy, I freaking adore the guy. He thought he was getting retribution and even though that is not a great reason, I still get it.
This conclusion is exactly what I wanted to see. This twisted fairy tale has gotten an ending that was just right for the two of them. It was not going to be an easy fix and wrap everything up tightly and add a bow to it, it was going to be so freaking hard.
The riveting conclusion to The Savage Fall Duet
Snowy and Blake are back and all questions regarding these two are answered in a satisfying sigh out loud way. These two have been through too much to get the fairy tale happily ever after but the reader was left with the main characters looking to a brighter future together and isn’t that the most anyone can truly ask? I just love Masha and would hope that she, one day gets her own book series as well.
I read a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review
With pasts full of dark twisted secrets and lies, the story of Snow and Blake continues as it leads to a web of intrigue and tainted truths. Guilty and hatred may forever keep these two as enemies as hurts compound until someone is left broken. Will either one of them have the strength to move beyond their pasts and find a way to a future together? Or will Snow be left broken by the truths she can’t face? It’s the powerful conclusion, you won’t she coming with enough twist and turns to leave you dizzy.
Dark, cruel, twisted – full of emotional pain
It took me some time to gather my thoughts after finishing the conclusion to the duet and to write review. For me one of the songs of the band called Thirty Seconds To Mars titled Up In The Air describes perfectly the dynamic between the main characters.
Stuck in a moment of emotion I’ve destroyed
Is this the end I feel?
(…)F-ed up our life
All of the laws I’ve broken, loves that I’ve sacrificed
(…)Lost in the night
I wouldn’t trade out for you lies you lost for my life
Is this the end
You were the love of my life, the darkness, the light
This is a portrait of the tortured you and I
Is this the end?
I wrap my hands around you neck so tight with love, love, love
(…)Take no more
I’ll take no more
It is painfully beautiful, cruel, intense, heartbreaking, soul-wrenching. So hard to believe people are really able to hurt others just to stay away from their own pain. But is it really possible? Can we hurt others and think that no sinful action can ever go without its consequences? Blake for sure will discover if that’s true or not.
Loved this part even more then previous one, the twist just made me gasp and I was sure of the outcome but again author took me by surprise.
Loved the ending, couldn’t be better and different after all what they went through. Two broken, shattered souls trying to put themselves back together. Snowy wasn’t the only one who needed ‘All the King’s horses and all the King’s man’.
So King’s Horses starts up where King’s Men ended. We are getting both POV in this book although it is mainly Snowy whom we get to hear. However, when we do hear from Blake, it is a great insight into how and why he is doing what he is doing. Blake is not a bad guy; he is just a product of his past. His love and somewhat obsession for Snowy has turned him into a raving lunatic. Can Snowy and Blake find it in themselves to get over their past mistakes and make a future together? Or will they always be fighting each other and the world?
This second book is just as dark and twisted, but Snowy is not the weak and naive girl she was in the first book. Snowy has a fight in her that we don’t see in the first book. I liked that she is finding herself and standing up to Blake. King’s Horses was a delightful story.
Blake thought once he had broken Snowy he would feel better, but his past is catching up with him now and the taste of revenge isn’t nearly as sweet as he thought it would be. But Blake isn’t the only person who wants Snowy. There is another man who wants Snowy for himself. With her broken heart can Snowy make the right decision? You will need to read the book for answers. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
Incredible! Lana’s books never fail to surprise me. King’s Horses, the second book in the Savage Fall duet, is incredibly written. In this book not only do we see Snowny’s part of the story but we also see Blake’s, which is great because putting both together we get the final picture. Initially in the first book I blamed Blake for hurting Snow, however in the book I understood the intentions behind them, and trust me on this, Blake has also been through a lot in his life. Other than Blake and Snow, I have to say I also love Masha’s character, she’s just as vulnerable as Snow, and seeing Blake support Masha as a brother, really just showed what kind of a person he is. Through the ups and downs off Blake and Snow’s relationship, their story is absolutely beautiful. Lastly, I have to say I’m completely satisfied with the ending. Another great book written by Lana, can’t wait to see what else she can come up with!
~All the king’s horses and all the king’s men, Snow. No one can put you back together again. You’re broken. Beautifully broken.~
Whereas Brandt would be there to help pick up the pieces and put her back together, Blake just wants to break Snow Hollings and see her suffer. They say there is a fine line between love and hate and these swirling emotions are ever present as Blake wants to inflict his vengeance all while lusting after the submissively yielding socialite.
I enjoyed seeing Blake a bit more bridled in this conclusion, we see more of the man Brandt would have been if he had not been betrayed by the only one he loved and trusted.
In King’s Men we see him portray cruelness and indifference. In King’s Horses, Blake reveals his unease and vulnerability. Blake is just as broken, for all his revenge he seems like the one who is breaking. He is guarded, devoid of trust, fearing to lose his heart again. Can these two start anew and overcome their past?
This duet is full of fiery twists, lust, vengeance, vicious lies and cruel manipulation. I have just recently discovered the writings of Lana Sky, and I thoroughly enjoy her brand of stories.
Lana Sky continues to impress me with her dark sensual writing in King’s Horses. This was deliberately cruel and raw keeping in mind the theme of the series. I simply adore her poetic and lyrical prose which beautify the sad and gory details.
I will warn you that this story has multiple triggers like abuse for sensitivie individuals. Snowy and Blake’s story is coming to an conclusion. So secrets are getting spilled in every corner. And even more manipulations and power games are coming into play. My head was actually reeling from all the shockingrevelations! Snowy and Blake’s past is so damaged that ugly can’t even begin to describe it. So even if they are trying to give it a second chance, it is messy and chaotic. And add to that mix the business games, the crazy ex fiance and friends, the society and everything.
This is more of a psychological thriller than a dark romance. Yes I wish she had an epilogue or something because the end felt abrupt and unfinished. But overall the story intrigued and captivated me. Snowy’s character finally got out of her broken tortured weak self and gain some control of her life. You really can’t expect people to change overnight after life long abuse in some form. And I finally found the balance in Blake’s character. He has soft, tender and vulnerable moments to tell you that he is not a complete monster. I hate a lot of people in this story but not Blake. Well not completely.
King’s Horses by Lana Sky is a dark, deviant and delicious tale of two tortured souls. The story was raw and honest. The writing was sensational. My heart will carry the imprint for a long time.
Received ARC for Honest Review
A tad let down after loving King’s Men. Confusing and hard to follow.
Not quite the fairy tale ending –
but then again Humpty Dumpty was never put back together again either,
So maybe it was quite fitting
This is the second in the duet so if you have not read book one…
Snowy uncovered so many secrets and betrayals in this closing episode. She knew she was a pawn but to really see with the blinders removed was a whole new type of pain. I still think she was a bit over dramatic at times and occasionally came across as immature. And yes *eye roll* she still jumps in without thinking things through. I admit though I felt a better connection with her in this episode than previously. There is a lot of emotional growth and though she is still muddling her way through I enjoyed watching her true strengths emerge.
As the story line unravels we see Blake’s attempts at placing what equates to a band-aid on the damage he has done. He wants his Snow’s affections but he is unsure of how to go about fixing what he has broken. I truly think that after the trauma and betrayal that was his youth he lacks the skills necessary to have a ‘healthy’ relationship. He tries with Snow but when it comes to verbally communicating, he lacks the ability so it usually ends up more of “physical” exchange of sentiments.
I am not sure how I feel about the brothers, their betrayals and their secrets – this was an area I felt we lacked in detail.
I will say the twist though – Soo did not see that coming!
There were a few ‘OH Hell No’ moments that had me white knuckling my reader. As the ‘Whys?’ were slowly exposed it was at times a bit heartbreaking.
I felt there was so much more going on behind the scenes that still needed to be told. I got some of the answers I was seeking but I also still have a few unanswered questions regarding some of the supporting cast like –
Why? Where?
The brothers? The sister? The whole lineage thing?
I do hope the author provides us the opportunity to get the rest of the story in possible cast spin-offs.
King’s Horses by Lana Sky is book Two in The Savage Fall Series. This continues the story of Snowy Hollings and Blake Lorenz so you should really read the first book ‘King’s Men’ to fully understonad their story.
In the first book Blake was out for revenge against Snowy and treated her very harshly. Blake started to realize that he judge the situation to harshly but for me his actions didn’t make up for what Snowy went through. Of course no one is perfect but I just felt Blake didn’t come back like I hoped he would. This is a dark romance which I am a reader of that theme but something in this book didn’t click with me…or I just had high hopes from the first book in what would be in this one.
I will look for more books from this author it was just this book didn’t play out the way I thought it would.
This is book two in Snow and Blake’s duet. You do need to read book one first to get their complete story. This has been an intense, twisted, painful and even at times brutal roller coaster ride with these characters. Darkness, lies, betrayal, revenge, secrets, twists and danger are all blended into a very intriguing story line. These books contain content that may be too disturbing for some and full-blown triggers for others. So, be aware before reading. With this type of read you are well aware going in that you have to wait for the payoff. I waited and honestly, I was left with a feeling of dissatisfaction. My first problem was that as intense as the emotions between the main characters burned (and there is no denying that they were intense!). I could not feel any real buildup affection. This for me was so disappointing. Secondly, What is up with the ending? It seemed too open ended and abrupt at the same time. In the end I liked it but did not love it because I felt it fell short of its promised potential.
