Kingston Ramsay needs a good woman, even if he doesn’t know it yet.Building a life in the wild west can get mighty lonely for a man who has vowed to never fall in love again.Lonely days. Lonely nights. Lonely bed.Lucky for him, he has friends who are determined to help him out. While King agrees to hire a housekeeper, his compadres decide he deserves more – a beautiful wife, ready and able to … and able to fill those lonely hours with all the excitement he can handle.
Not telling King about his surprise…might have been a mistake, for when Fancy arrives, she isn’t exactly what they bargained for when they arranged for a mail-order bride for their friend.
Half-starved and homeless, Fancy Grace is ecstatic for a chance at a family of her own. In her estimation, Kingston Ramsay, the man who has chosen her, is the epitome of perfection. She can’t believe her good fortune and is determined to make him the happiest of men…until she learns the truth.
Kingston didn’t choose her, he thinks she is there to make his bed, not warm it.
Determined to make the best of her bad situation, Fancy sets out to prove she can be exactly what King needs. She might not be a beauty, but she has plenty to offer the right man. Sparks fly in this battle of the sexes when these two strong-willed individuals clash. King is forced to reevaluate his definition of perfect when he learns a valuable truth – sometimes true beauty can only be discerned when looking through the eyes of love.

Hotter than Hell Yeah!, Sable Hunter’s Wild West is a series where cowboys are king, yet their women can bring them to their knees. Full of adventure and heart-tugging emotion, these books have enough sensual heat to start a Texas wildfire. Holding out for a hero? Look no further, meet seven men you’ll never forget: King, Boone, Clay, Gentry, Domino, Jericho, Reno, and Joss.

Fabulous first novel in a new series from Sable Hunter!!
Sable’s gift of combing true historical events with fictional characters is very evident in King’s Fancy and the love she has for history comes through in this first book in the Wild West series. Her characters are ones you just HAVE to know and I was engrossed and intrigued from the very first chapter. The strength that Fancy has, despite all that she’s experienced, and the love she showed just by being herself had me cheering her on throughout the entire story ~ I just knew King would open his eyes where she was concerned eventually.
A wonderful introduction to a new group of men and women and I look forward to future novels in this series.
This is a wonderful story of two people coming together. Our hero is overcoming heartache and our heroine is looking to love someone. This story drew me in from the beginning and it made me laugh and cry on more than one occasion. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a wonderful adventure. This was my first Sable Hunter book, but defiantly not my last!!
Love, love, love this book. I loved how upbeat Fancy managed to steal the heart of a man who closed his heart off even if she wasn’t as fancy add her name implied. I stayed up late finishing this book, not for the first time, but the fourth. Can’t wait for book two in the series: Reno’s Journey.
Fancy and King were well-developed characters. I enjoyed this historical better than I have some of Hunter’s contemporaries. It had sexual tension and some good sex scenes. Hunter’s contemporary books just keep going on and on with the sex scenes.
The book is well-written. There are places where words have been omitted and punctuation would make the reading easier. Without some of the punctuation, the reader must go to reread some sentences which would not be necessary if punctuation was correct.
“King’s Fancy” (Wild West Series Book 1) by Sable Hunter is a terrific read. I enjoyed ‘King’ Kingston and Fancy’s story. A great start to this new series. This story has romance, action, drama, close friends, mail-order brides, and more. I’m anxious to see what happens next with all of these great characters. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, westerns, and series.
“King’s Fancy” is the first book in the Wild West series and I really enjoyed it. Fancy Grace is used to disappointment in her life, she was orphaned and lived on the streets fending for herself. So when she finds out that someone wants her, even as a mail-order bride, she could not be happier. Kingston Ramsay comes from a family with money but when he came home from the war, he found his fiance was marrying his brother, so he and his friends take off to build a new life. His friends think they are helping him out by ordering him a bride, but Kingston doesn’t see it that way, and he is actually a total jerk (for lack of a stronger word) to Fancy. I wanted to take him out behind the wood shed and teach him a lesson about how to treat a lady. But Fancy tries her best to help all that she can until the time comes for her to go back home. Will Kingston send her back or will he wake his fool self up?
I have never been a big fan of old west books but this one was really good, and I cannot wait to read more in the series!
5 stars . Rarely do I rate a book 5 stars unless I’ve read it at least twice but this was so good I hated for it to end. I’ll definitely read it again and will continue with this series.
Sorry but I am rating this book based on my feelings. Not so much about the story. But more on how she was treated. I am not sure I could be as she was towards him after some of the things said. I was mighty disappointed in him! It took forever for him to get over himself. Happy ending though.
Enjoyed this book so much can’t wait to read next book
Wonderful cast of characters, loved the ending.
Good read!
I haven’t read a Sable Hunter book in a while so I grabbed King’s Fancy when it came to my attention. Wow! Ms. Hunter has impressed me all over again. The characters in this book are outstanding. King and his friends return to his home expecting a warm welcome from his family and his fiance. Instead they arrive during the wedding of his brother to his fiance. King heads to Texas with his friends to build their own ranch. Fancy has been on her own since she was a child. She’s had a hard life but she’s always hopeful. When she posts to become a mail order bride she’s excited that someone finally wants her, only to find King doesn’t really want her, his friends were only trying to make him happy. King and Fancy’s story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved this story from cover to cover and can’t wait to read my next Sable Hunter book. King’s Fancy is book 1 of the Wild West Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I tried to like the H, but King was just too arrogant. He looked down on Fancy, treating her dispicably until suddenly he wanted her and used her for sex. I understand it was because of her childhood and previous relationship, but Fancy was so starved for acceptance and affection that she allowed herself to be used as a door mat. I didn’t enjoy reading about their relationship, even though King redeemed himself in the end.
Books of this nature are rarely “realistic”, but generally enjoyable. This one rubbed me wrong. Fancy spends the entire book as a wipe-your-feet-on-me doormat. By the end, she’s decided that being a doormat is just fine with her, as long as it means somebody stays with her. Oh, please, no.
fun read
Enjoyed reading light book. Story of good man whose brothers and sister were his world until lonely, tragic woman comes to help him stop a murderous bandit gang from terrorising everyone.
Kingston Ramsey needs a good woman even if he doesn’t know it yet. Building a life in the wild west can get very lonely for a man who has vowed not to ever fall in love again. Lucky for King, he has friends who are determined to help him. King agrees to hire a housekeeper, but his friends think he needs a wife. They arrange for a mal-order bride, Fancy, but she is not what they expected. She is half-starved, homeless and ecstatic for a chance at a family of her own. Fancy thinks King is perfect and is determined to make him the happiest of men. She learns that he didn’t choose her and thinks she is there to make his bed, not warm it. – Fancy was amazing. She was an orphan, had been on the streets at a young age, sold, and mistreated all of her life. Despite that, she was caring and had a positive attitude. Fancy was a hard worker and loved to help others. She always put others before herself. I got frustrated with King, but the men who worked with him were great. This is an excellent read.
Tooooo much sex. And the author was fascinated with the “f___” word. Other than that, it was a good story with good characters.
I enjoyed this book.
The main female character was too good for her own sake. Nothing riled her. She even tried to distract a snake from biting King. King was a total jerk. He was so rude to Fancy. I did not like either of the main characters. I would not care to read anything else by this author.
