Leif Metcalfe and his team, dubbed Reaper, need to recover the stolen, ancient Book of the Wars if they hope to stop the Armageddon Coalition and their pursuit of global economic control. But their attention has been diverted by a prophecy in the book that foretells of formidable guardians who will decimate the enemies of ArC. While Iskra Todorova uses her connections in the covert underworld to … to hunt down the Book of the Wars, Leif and Reaper attempt to neutralize these agents but quickly find themselves outmaneuvered and outgunned. The more Reaper tries to stop the guardians, the more failure becomes a familiar, antagonistic foe. Friendships are fractured, and the team battles to hold it together long enough to defeat ArC. But as this millennia-old conspiracy creeps closer and closer to home, the implications could tear Leif and the team apart.

Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig gives readers more of everything we’ve come to expect from her novels. More death-defying action, more amazing characters like Leif Metcalf and Iskra Torodova, more danger, and much more inner conflict. But note that this novel ends on a total cliff-hanger which will leave readers wanting…well, MORE!
This is the second novel in the series, so readers need to pick up Storm Rising first to keep up. The story picks up with Leif, Iskra, and the rest of the team, now dubbed Reaper, as they try to stop assassination attempts that were predicted in the Book of Wars, not to mention that the book is missing. Leif struggles with his relationship with Iskra but also the thought that men are being “activated” and turned into mass murderers. Oh, and throw in a secret organization called the Armageddon Coalition which wants total world domination and you’ve got one action-packed, thrilling novel.
If you loved Storm Rising, you’ll not be able to put down Kings Falling. I used to think I had a crush on Tox (from the prior series) but now it’s totally Cell. He’s kind of the behind the scenes guy trying to keep everything straight, while Leif and others on the team starts to come unglued. I don’t want to reveal too much, but this is a fantastic adventure filled with drama, action, suspense, and intrigue. Clearly, I can’t wait for the next one. Because the ending of this one is leaving me hanging in mid air trying to catch my breath!
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Overall Rating: 5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
Suspense Rating: 5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)
Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig, second in the Book of Wars series is…oh my, it is so hard to put into words how much I loved this story! The author’s exquisite storytelling skills are unmatched, drawing the reader into another realm entirely.
Kings Falling brings the team, Reaper, to another mission wrought with intrigue suspense, and not a little danger. Iskra Todorova, rescued from out of a life of violence and torture, is now using her exceptional skills to find the people, or person, holding the Book of Wars before they can use it to destroy the world. In the meantime, Leif and team Reaper are sent out on missions to neutralize those who would use whatever it takes to get their hands on the Book of Wars.
While Reaper encounters opposition every where they go, Iskra seems to be making some inroads with learning who holds the book, but at what risk? There are those that will stop at nothing to gain control over Iskra, forcing her to once again work with them, including kidnapping her young daughter.
It seems like they knew Leif and Reaper would show at the events no matter how secretive their mission might be. Always the opposition was ready from them, but how.
This is just a tidbit of the story that is Kings Falling; to write more risks spoilers and nope, I’m not going there. You will just need to read the book for yourselves. Be prepared to become hyper-focused on Kings Falling; I guarantee you won’t want to put it down, not even to eat or sleep.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and am under no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions therein are solely my own, and freely given.
Kendig did it again! Kings Falling is the second part of the Book of Wars series by Ronie Kendig, and is just as filled with twist and turns that will keep you wanting more. I cant wait for part 3 it is sure to be a page turner.
“I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.”
Wow! Kings Falling just one-upped Storm Rising, and that was quite a feat. Returning to Leif and Iskra’s story was super exciting. Ups and downs and twists and turns will make your head spin. Reaper is being challenged beyond anything they’ve faced before and it makes for some edge of your seat reading. And the ending? Can I really wait til November to find out what happens next?! If you enjoy a fast paced thrill ride, Kings Falling is the book for you.

One word to describe Ronie Kendig’s books: Intense. With a capital I.
Kings Falling was even better than book one in the series, Storm Rising. I can’t wait to see what book three will hold! From page one I was drawn back into the story and finished it in a matter of hours. My one complaint: that cliffhanger! How will I survive until October brings book three?
I loved the evolution of Leif and Iskra’s relationship in this one. A lot of the physical attraction and rather heated kisses that annoyed me in the first book was replaced by a deeper mutual respect and falling in love between the two characters. Leif’s character arc in this book was very intense, ending with that annoying\awesome cliffhanger that leaves you literally on the edge of your seat and you’re not even sure which side he’s on anymore. Iskra has really matured in this book, and I found that I actually like her now and am able to relate and empathize with her.
The story is never-ending suspense. The plot wraps up nicely by the end of the book, while still leaving the overarching story to be finalized in the last book of the series. (It bears mentioning again: THAT CLIFFHANGER. Beware.)
My overall thoughts . . . I’M DYING FOR BOOK THREE. If you love inTENSE suspense, romance, and paramilitary themes, definitely dig into The Book of the Wars series! You won’t regret it.
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
First of all, Kings Falling is book two in the Book of the Wars series. If you haven’t read book one, Storm Rising, you definitely need to read it before starting Kings Falling. Both are amazing books, and when you finish Kings Falling you will probably be, like me, anxious to get your hands on book three!
Kings Falling was an incredible story, full of action and heart. The author constantly threw these characters into danger and put me on the edge of my seat, wondering if they would all make it through each mission.
But these stories, though full of adventure and danger, are truly character driven, as well. I found myself highly invested in every single person on this team and deeply concerned for their well being and any relationships that they were involved in. The author made me really care what happened to these fictional people who seemed so very real. I am desperate to read the third book in the series, Soul Raging.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Reaper Team comes back like a rocket launcher! Talk about explosive scenes, snappy dialogue, heart thumping action, and crazy-cool fight scenes…Kings Falling has it all.
Kendig is well known for causing readers to stay up late into the night to finish her stories and this one is no exception. I was engrossed in the continuing plot and had a hard time putting the book down. It’s not a nice and tidy ending but will culminate in Soul Raging, coming November 2020. I cannot wait to find out how in the world this team is going to survive…and who is going to survive.
I received a copy of the book from the author and publisher. All opinions are my own.
The intensity and raging suspense just keep going! The second book in the series and we find out so much more – but it leads to more questions and danger by the end. Which is a good thing because it keeps the story line flowing. I adore the banter and camaraderie between the team members. It is written perfectly with them acting like family with their own ups and downs as they do their jobs. This was a fast read for me so I can only assume it was because the stellar action was packed, the deeply amazing story ran from page to page, and so many details kept me wanting more. Her books read like you are watching a movie. I can’t recommend it enough – go start this series with the first book and get on board!
I got this from the publisher and this is my own opinion of it.
Wow, what a ride and that ending!!
Kings Falling, Book 2 in The Book of Wars series, ended with me shouting, “What?! How can she end it this way? And I have to wait until November for book 3!!” It was so good, so gripping and so hard knowing I had to wait for the next one.
Leif Metcalf and his team, Reaper, are still hunting for the Book of Wars and determined to stop ArC, the Armageddon Coalition, and their army of Neiothen warriors from assuming worldwide control of the economy. The team members are a close-knit unit, but as ArC stays one step ahead and the fight takes on a more personal nature, their bond is threatened and begins to unravel.
I had a couple of oh my gosh moments, and a serious need to keep turning the page. I love the military precision of the team, the unique personalities of each person, and how they blend together to make a brilliant group of characters. There is no way I could pick just one favorite out of the group.
Ronie Kendig crafts stories with strong, yet flawed and relatable characters, thrilling and fast-paced plots, and intriguing descriptions of settings to keep you hooked from beginning to end. The dialogue is sharp and witty and draws you into the characters’ lives as well as into the storyline itself.
Kings Falling is an edge of your seat, can’t put down, read all night thriller that keeps you guessing to the end.

As always…So. Good. You know how they say the second in a trilogy is always the worst? Not so in this case!
Ms. Kendig is a master character storyteller. What I mean by that is her characters are always so well crafted and developed, and you literally can’t help but fall in love and become emotionally attached to these characters. It’s like you’re there with them, except the bullets aren’t flying at you.
Loved it. Can’t wait for the next one…though I’ll have to. Definitely is going on the reread list!
I was provided an advance copy by the publisher. All opinions given are my own.
Kings Falling is the second book in The Book of the Wars trilogy. In the first, Storm Rising, you were left breathless from the beginning. Team Reaper was constantly on the run and the action was fast pace. With Kings Falling there is still a lot of action, but I felt as if more time was taken to get to know each of the characters. (Reading tip: make a list of each of the characters and their Team Reaper name.) I felt like we were able to get inside the head of more then just the main characters, to see some of their past and what makes them tick. Another book by Ronie Kendig that I highly recommend, but I strongly suggest you start with Storm Rising. I received a copy of this book in order to give my honest opinion.
Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig is the second book in the Book of the Wars series following Storm Rising. This series is full of action, mystery and some romance. If you are looking for books that have it all–this series is it.
Leif Metcalfe along with the rest of the Reaper team continue their hunt to find the Book of the Wars. At the same time, they are trying to stop the other warriors from around the world that also want to find the book for evil means. The team works together throughout Kings Falling searching for the Book amidst foes who are bent on tearing them up–and tearing them apart.
When I first started Kings Falling, I had to catch up to speed and remember what happened when I left off from Storm Rising. Kendig helps the reader catch up quickly with some refreshment on those first few chapters of this book. Even so, I do recommend that you read Storm Rising first, if you haven’t already. I could feel the tension between Iskra and Leif throughout this book form the beginning. I could see how Leif is battling his internal demons and I really felt for him in his frustration. I liked some of the other relationships that were forming through the book. I also liked the fast-paced storyline but at the same time I left a bit frustrated. I am sure Kendig left me that way to whet my appetite for book 3 and it worked. I can’t begin to tell you how much I want to read Soul Raging! Unfortunately, readers wanting Soul Raging will have to wait until November to read the conclusion. Kendig writes in such a way that this book just feels so believable within the realm it is in. I almost feel like I am caught up in a spy film and I can’t turn the pages fast enough. And sometimes the tension is too much and I have to put the book down. If you haven’t started this series, I highly recommend it.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and the author. All opinions within this review are my own.
This series is incredibly unique and totally unpredictable. As an avid reader of clean Fiction, I can usually guess what’s going to happen part way through a story. That never happens with Ronie Kendig. She takes me by complete surprise on more occasions than I can count. Kendig is the Christian Military Suspense master. If a book has her name on it, I’ve got to read it. Kings Falling took my breath away. Kendig built a world, and I didn’t want to leave it. I loved seeing the elite team Reaper, and enjoyed every moment I was able to spend with them. Their constant banter made me laugh and love them all the more. Being able to only read 349 pages was torture. I couldn’t get enough of Leif and his team and can hardly wait until the next book comes out. The precision that Kendig writes her stories proves how much time and research she spends to make everything as accurate as possible. This story is full of scenes where I could feel as if I was there with them. I could feel the tension, the frustration, and the adrenaline of trying to figure out who the next target was and how they could be saved. I can already tell this series is going to have a permanent spot on my shelf! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a one of a kind ride. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Kings Falling is written in Ronie Kendig’s signature “rapid-fire fiction” style. Fast-paced with conspiracies, suspense, on-the-move action, the Reaper team is set to hunt down the Book of the Wars.
This book will take you around the world (Egypt, Maryland, Afghanistan, Virginia, and other places) as the reader joins the team in searching for clues that will unveil the mystery around the Book of the Wars. Ms. Kendig will give you suspense, action, and a bit of romance in between it all.
If you’re a Ronie Kendig fan, it isn’t a question of if you’ll pick up Kings Falling but when. I’d suggest now to continue the story from Storm Rising. If you’ve never read Ronie Kendig, now’s your chance with this new series. Dive in and enjoy the stormy waters.
*I received an ARC through NetGalley from the publisher. My review was not required nor influenced.
Another absolutely riveting story from the queen of military suspense.
I couldn’t put this book down.
And now, I’m extremely sad I finished it. I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is the second book in the Book of the Wars series, and the action just picks up right from where the first book left off.
The action starts on the first page, and doesn’t let up for the entire book. I was kept reading, turning pages, sitting on the edge of my chair the whole way through.
I loved reading more about this team. I love Leif. and Iskra. And Cell. And Mercy. And all the others. This team, Reaper, has another amazing mission, and they are also still doing their best to track down the Book of the Wars.
In this installment, they are desperately trying to stop a super -army that is prophesied in the book.
Mercy is pulling out all the stops to find her brother.
The team are racing from one corner of the globe to another, and the action is just superb.
I found my head almost spinning at times as I tried to keep up.
Ms. Kendig has such a way with words. Her plot twists. Little surprises. Unexpected events.
Yeah, this book has lots of those going on.
I’m afraid to say too much more, because I really don’t want to leave any spoilers.
But, when you read the ending, I’m pretty sure you will be where I’m at and be desperate to find out what happens next.

Wow…wow…wow. Ronie Kendig has outdone herself again with this second book in her Book of Wars series. Pulse pounding edge of your seat military thriller that goes way beyond expectations. I’m not sure I will recover from this!! I have loved everything I have read by Ronie Kendig and this book has been no different. Be prepared, your heart will race in disbelief and will definitely leaving you thirsty for more
If you have not read a book by this author, you are doing a disservice to yourself. Her writing style is on point with top notch action and intrigue that explodes across the pages. The characters are well developed and trained experts in t completing their mission.
The book digs deep into the dark world of spies, assassins and pure evil. Lief is my very character with his strength and attitude. He won’t allow anything to get in the way of his mission. I loved his fierce loyalty to his team and tried not to let anything distract him. Iskra and Leif have friction between them but I think it made them stronger as a team. They have an important task before them and need to put aside their differences for now. I call their relationship a slow burn that sizzles just at the top. It needs attention but the author allows readers to get small doses at a time.
I became impatient with myself as I tried to read as fast as I could. There are so many “I didn’t see that coming moments,”that I was nearing the edge of my seat. I had to hold on as the story dove deep into enemy territory. It’s a race against time as secrets are exposed and terror surrounds Leif and Iskra. Without giving anything away, I will say the author has written a story that screams for justice and prayers that the team stays safe and conquers their quest. I have a few questions I hope to get answers to in the next installment of the series. Get ready for the ride of your life in this story that whisks you away to foreign countries and in contact with people who will do anything to protect what is theirs.
I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House. The review is my own opinion.
Ronie Kendig is the MASTER of suspense! Kings Falling starts off with a bang and doesn’t let up; instead, she ratchets up the action with each chapter.
I love the premise in this series; that the Book of the Wars mentioned in the Biblical book of Numbers has been found. Governments around the world are hunting it down. It’s fascinating to think about the information that book might contain.
This next chapter in Iskra’s story is really exciting. She’s a character who is full of contradictions. That will keep you on your toes as you try to figure out what she’s up to. She’s not the only character to fall in that category, either.
Leif, on the other hand, is just off the charts. Every time I thought I had a handle on his backstory I later decided I was wrong. He’s the most awesome kind of male lead: strong, protective, decisive, smart, and yet vulnerable in critical ways. That vulnerability causes him to struggle with himself as well as the main conflict.
With multiple antagonists who take the search for The Book of the Wars world-wide, Leif’s team crisscrosses the globe tracking down clues. Kendig keeps you guessing here, as well, as she dribbles out new information expertly. I love stories where I can’t figure out the details before turning the last page, and they’re hard to find. Kendig kept me in the dark the whole time, though!
I loved this book and I read it in a single sitting – I couldn’t put it down. Kings Falling is the kind of story you think about long after you finish it. You’ll be contemplating the characters and the action and wondering what will come next. Unfortunately, I’ll be wondering for several months until the sequel releases – but I’ll definitely be first in line to read it when it does.
If you like suspenseful, high-action, prophetic-type stories with likeable, hunky characters, you have to read this series. (Pssst! Don’t start with Kings Falling. Start with Storm Rising because it’s too good to miss.) Grab your copy today!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
Intense
Thrilling
Action packed
Complex
Twists and turns
Hold your breath
These are what comes to mind as I write this review of the highly anticipated second book of the Book of Wars series.
You simply have to read Storm Rising first, for there you are introduced to all the players and a very vital backstory.
It’s hard to write a review on this book because there are quite a few twists that I don’t want to give away. So I am just going to say if you are looking for a intense, action packed, paramilitary suspense …….I recommend no other than Ronie Kendig.
I really enjoyed how she has taken the characters introduced to us in Storm and really fleshed them out on a deeper level. Not only are they racing against the clock and around the world, but they are facing their own personal struggles and hidden obstacles that could be their undoing.
Bravo Ronie Kendig! You once again have crafted a story that has kept me reading until the late hours of the night and I am anxiously awaiting the next book!
I recieved a copy of this book from the publisher and all my opinions are my own.
Just, whoa! This book took me on the wildest ride and then dropped me off a cliff. Book three cannot get here fast enough for me! Ronie Kendig is the queen of rapid-fire writing and globe trotting action. If you haven’t started this newest series yet what are you doing? Just make sure you’ve got 911 on speed dial before you get going. Reaper is back in action and things are getting real, fast. Despite their best efforts they always seem to be a step behind the Neothen and the consequences are international in proportion.
Prepare yourself for a binge read. There is enough action, intrigue and romance here that putting the book down won’t even be an option. The absolute best part of this book though, are the awesome female characters. These women are truly amazing and demand as much respect as their male counterparts. I can’t wait to see what insanity Kendig has in store for the finale!
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
