“A constantly surprising series that deepens and darkens as it evolves.” —Marilyn Stasio, New York Times Book Review
Kingdom of the Blind, the new Chief Inspector Gamache novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author.
When a peculiar letter arrives inviting Armand Gamache to an abandoned farmhouse, the former head of the Sûreté du Québec discovers that a complete stranger has named him one of the executors of her will. Still on suspension, and frankly curious, Gamache accepts and soon learns that the other two executors are Myrna Landers, the bookseller from Three Pines, and a young builder.
None of them had ever met the elderly woman.
The will is so odd and includes bequests that are so wildly unlikely that Gamache and the others suspect the woman must have been delusional. But what if, Gamache begins to ask himself, she was perfectly sane?
When a body is found, the terms of the bizarre will suddenly seem less peculiar and far more menacing.
But it isn’t the only menace Gamache is facing.
The investigation into what happened six months ago—the events that led to his suspension—has dragged on, into the dead of winter. And while most of the opioids he allowed to slip through his hands, in order to bring down the cartels, have been retrieved, there is one devastating exception.
Enough narcotic to kill thousands has disappeared into inner city Montreal. With the deadly drug about to hit the streets, Gamache races for answers.
As he uses increasingly audacious, even desperate, measures to retrieve the drug, Armand Gamache begins to see his own blind spots. And the terrible things hiding there.

All the books in this series are fantastic! I’ve read them all.
I am so invested in the people who live in Three Pines. Louise Penny has never failed to take me on a wonderful, exciting and sometimes scary journey with each of her books. After reading this book, I bought it on CDs and my husband and I listened to it in the car. I normally do not like to read books a second time, but I found so much more the second time through. Enjoy! I certainly did!!!
I love this whole series by Louise Penney. Great characters, interesting about the culture in areas of Canada, and a good “who done it” book.
Not the best Louise Penny book, but still a good mystery. complicated plot, developed characters. good read. Recommend starting at the beginning of the series.
I am a big fan of Louise Penny
Have read all her books and love them waiting for Sept when we go to Paris
One can only say Penny and Gamache and you know the perfection you will find!
This series maybe my favorite, the Village of Three Pines I where I want to live.
The characters were very real, believable. The story touches on mental illness in even very strong individuals. The multiple story lines were easy to follow.
Another wonderful addition to this series! It is difficult to review this and not give away any vital clues to the plot. The same wonderful setting with characters I love and several surprises make this a fast , thrilling read.

I have read all of Louise Penny’s books. This series is always a most satisfying read. Love to get lost in her setting and characters, all the village life in an area I could only dream about, not really want t live in-too cold.
