Kingdom of Storms: The Lifetime Academy (Stones of Amaria Book 1) by Jen L. Grey is wonderful to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I have fallen in love with. I highly recommend this story to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Kingdom of Storms by Jen L. Grey is the first book in her Stones of Amaria series. These stories are taking place in this author’s spin of the Stones of Amaria. In this cut we are introduced to phoenix shifters whose kingdom was split years ago behind a quest of greed and power. All Cinder’s parents have wanted for her is to find her mate and prepare to rule their kingdom. That’s far from what she wants, but what’s a girl to do when Fate determines that it’s time for her and her intended mate to cross paths? And that very mate to be from the kingdom that broke off behind the greed of one from the past? Change is coming and now they must take steps to set aside their differences and come together.
Kingdom of Storms tells the story of Cinder and Fury, two phoenixes from opposite sides of the kingdom. This story moves quickly and smoothly between the two characters. The author quickly points out the uniqueness of these two characters and the similarities of their families. I couldn’t help being surprised at both the similarities and differences between these two characters’ families. Cinder was born with her powers, but Fury was essentially “forced” to develop his. An undertone of danger is quick to surface in the story. Now, while I’m not always a fan of “insta-love” I like that these characters do feel a strong pull toward each other that is hard to resist, but resist it to an extent one of them does do.
There isn’t much that I don’t like about this book. The author does a good job keeping me page-turning to learn what happens next with the characters. I have to say that I was more than happy when a certain character gets a major reality check concerning their mouth…it’s just too bad that the same can’t be said about the other who is a major pain in the butt. I’m hoping that they will be handled sooner than later.
I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. The storyline is good, but it feels like something was missing. This storyline is still building so I’m hopeful that the next book will help to bring this story together better.
I loved Cinder and Fury a lot in the first one and I love them even more in this one especially their mind bond. Reading these books make me happy because they are about phoenix shifter one of the most understated shifters to be written about. also the vividness of the story and the characters being trapped and wanting to be free of Lifetime Academy but to do that they need to be able to use their powers. the other characters are just great each one has its perfect place also I cant wait for the next book to see what happens next. That was a sweet but mysterious ending
I need more. This is the second book in the series and it is only getting better and better. I can’t wait for the next one. This series is a must read so far. I can’t tell you who my favorite character is yet Cinder or Pele both found there true mates. Ughh… I can’t wait to see what happens next. I need more.
This is truly an original. I have never read about Phoenix shifter but the chemistry between Fury and Cinder have me turning the pages to find out what happens next. with the Northern kingdom and Southern kingdom constantly against one another. The future’s heirs to both Kingdoms are chosen to join the Academy to try to save all of pyr and maybe find their true love along the way
What a fantastic beginning! This is going to be the most amazing series reminds me of a twist on Romeo and Juliet but with Phoenixes instead of people.(hopefully without a tragic ending) I absolutely can not wait to see what trials and tribulations Cinder and Furry will encounter.
A great start to a promising series and shared world! I liked the mix of royalty, magic, and mysterious darkness. The side characters were just as likable and the Seer provides an unknown element of guidance or destruction. The tension and playful exchanges between Fury and Cinder were equally balanced with other story elements. It took a little for the story to develop but once it did, I didn’t want it to end. I love the idea of a shared fantasy world and look forward to reading more of this series and within this world!
Kingdom of Storms is a story of rivals and allies, fate and destiny and mates versus arrangements. It is a great start of how it begins. It shows that not all is as it seems and figuring out what is truth and what is tales is hard to distinguish. Read to find out how two rivals have to become allies to save their kingdoms. Can they get past the stories they were told to accept the fate they are given?
Sometimes truth gets distorted.
Cinder and Fury two people from different sides of the same area Both are supposed to run their kingdoms but they both have the same pull that leads them in a different direction. When an unexpected announcement comes will all that are called be able to follow each other even tho both sides dislike the other? Amazing start to this series that’s going to be awesome. The push and pull from these characters and the emotions that they all have. Can’t wait to read the next one
Wow what a great read. Cinder and Fury are going to be great together. Love phoenix stories. Story was fast paced. Can’t wait to see what the Seer has in store for them.
Soul Mates
Interesting short story that kept me intrigued all the way till the end. But is only the beginning! great start to a shifter phoenix love story! Cinder and Fury are fated soul mates and their journey is just getting started! FatedMates#StarCrossLovers#phoenix#soulmates#shifters
Captivating start to a new series!
A kingdom split down the middle by an ancient feud….each side thinking theirs is the more powerful. Add in two heirs who are supposed to hate each other and a meddling seer who chooses them and 4 others to attend a mysterious new academy. Suddenly lifelong enemies are supposed to work together. And what happens if you discover your life mate is the one person you aren’t allowed to love?
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
There’s just something about these characters that makes you wanna go and hang out with them! The fact that they are phoenix shifters is such an added bonus.
This is the start of what I am sure will be a fantastic story. The characters are flawed in their individual ways, no one likes a perfect pants lol! The world building has started, and already the lore is being introduced. I cannot remember ever reading a phoenix shifter- but I am so glad I can say that I have now. This is a series I am so excited for!
If you love Phoenix shifters, and who doesn’t, you get to meet a kingdom of divided ones and the children of them. An ancient seer decided to start a school for them to bring them together. Why? That’s a great question. This book is engaging from beginning to end and I love the different points of view. I am dying to know what is in store for all of them
