Homeless. Hungry. Desperate. Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from. A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, sex or a combination of all three. King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn … together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
King is the first book in a two part series. Tyrant is the name of the second book due out August 2015.

Beautiful, dark, sexy and lovable King of the Causeway!
I read King a while back and I decided to do a reread as I dive into the rest of the series. I won it in a giveaway and even though I wasn’t sure the story would appeal to me, I was enthralled as I turned the pages. King and Doe are a unique and somewhat disturbing beautiful couple. A female lead who doesn’t remember who she is and is constantly struggling between the darkness of the girl she can’t remember and the woman she wants to be. A gorgeous, broken, violent, but redeemable man who battles between the persona he has created and who he aspires to be, when love comes knocking at his door. What a powerful and beautiful story, filled with angst, incredibly hot encounters, sadness and tears, love, and the clear message that family is not necessarily the one we are born into, but the one we create for ourselves. T.M. Frazier was a new author when I read this book and her words flow into the page like the waters of a wild river:
“I f&%$#@ her until we were one person, and in a way we were, because I’d lost myself along the way, and I found myself again in the most unlikely place. I’d found myself again in the haunted eyes of a girl who was just as lost as I was. Or maybe, we didn’t find each other at all. Maybe, we just decided to be lost together.”
I cannot wait to read the whole series and see where the story goes. Preppy, Bear…where will their paths take us as the story keeps unfolding??? You don’t know who they are??? You will have to read to find out.
King and Doe are an incredibly intense couple to read and at the end of the day love can conquer anything! The road keeps moving!
I will honestly admit that I’m not a big fan of MC romance books. There are a few authors that write them, or more like fringe MC, I guess, that I’ll read and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I’ve added the King series by this author to that list now.
NICUnurse’s Rating: Honestly, it took me a while to really get into this book. It’s raw, gritty, and a bit crude and cruel in the beginning. While it doesn’t lose it’s raw, gritty, and crude much at all (but that’s what makes it work), once I got past the rudest part, I found myself not wanting to put this one down. And I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would in the beginning. It’s a bit of a bully romance meets enemies to lovers romance, so if this is your jam, you’re really going to love this book.
I give King by T.M. Frazier 4 out of 5 stars!
This book was really good. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into and though it started slowly and was a bit rough I did get into it before the halfway mark. It was action-packed and the romance storyline was quick paced. And the ending was such a cliffhanger. So glad that I don’t have to wait for the second book in this duet!
*I received a copy of this book in the ARC for A Kiss for You*
Doe has no memory of who she is or her past. Nikki a hooker with a drug habit has befriended her or she would probably already be dead. Nikki takes her to a party to hopefully hook up with a biker that will take her in and protect her. Instead she meets King. Fresh out of prison he isn’t looking to change his ways. Will she let him own her in exchange for his protection and her heart?
This was my first T.M. Frazier book I don’t usually go for the darker reads. So I struggled through parts of the story but really did fall for some of the characters. Who wouldn’t love Preppy and Bear because under their tough facade are men with soft spots for Doe. I had love/hate thing with King. When he let Doe in he was softer and likable but other times the hardened criminal was all you see. King and Doe’s story has triggers so avoid if drugs, prostitution, rape and violence are no gos for you. I did need to know what happened so had to read the 2nd book.
4.5 dark stars
I read this book in a day .i am Hooked !
So I didn’t see the recommended reading order prior to reading this one so I’ll finish the duet before going back to the prequel , but this world it’s addictive , it’s dark and twisted it’s enthralling and captivating .
The characters are witty and bad ass and yes there’s violence and trauma and roughness but I loved every minute !
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it definitely won’t be my last !!
Warning there lots of potential triggers in this book – violence / rape/ murder / cheating – not for the faint hearted .
The road winds while reading this book. T.M. takes us up, down, around, over switch-backed dirty, gritty roads. You think the story is going this one way, and then it jerks you back around like a mad tilt-a-whirl at a crazed carnival. You hold on for dear life, but you never want off. What a ride!
I loved this book. It’s about Brantley King how his life was and is always seems to turn for the worse. Add in his best friend Preppy, quite the character. Then King meets “Doe”. I don’t like to give things away so you’ll need to read and see what happens.
Love! love! loved this book and all the ones that follow. This author is one of my top favorites. I buy every one of hers books as soon as they come out.
Must read
5 wth is happening stars!!
This is book one in the “King” series and can not be read as a stand alone. The end will have you running to buy book two!!
So I have a ton of books that I bought and just never got around to reading but every time I got back I want to start this book. I saw that there are spin off’s and such so I waited until I have the time to read them all. Well, hot damn, the time is now!! This book was incredible. I hadn’t even made it to chapter one and I was hooked. These characters make this book. I love them all.
This book is about a bunch of lost souls finding home in each other. But don’t get it twisted they are all pretty bad ass in their own ways. I think Preppy is amazing and I would love to be his friend. My heart also ached for him. I could tell from the very beginning his story is going to be brutal. King is such a beautiful human being. He is so alpha and bad ass but his heart is huge. He made his own family. One he chose.
King and Doe are explosive yet beautiful. I love the way the each find each other. But their story is far from over. I can’t wait to open book two.
I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down if I wanted to. There are so many secrets I need to know!! My heart broke multiple times in this book. I hope the author mends my heart with book two but I am afraid. Good things don’t happen to guys like this. Get ready for the ride of your life!!
Give Me King…Please
Wow!!! T. M. Frazier’s KING is not just a fantastic book…it’s book one in one of my new favorite series’…This author has written one of the best dirty talking, all alpha, as-hole characters I’ve read….and, you know, we all love those guys….King is hot and violent and not just rough around the edges…he’s rough…and so hot…and when he falls in love, he’s protective and territorial and…It’s just really good…
Brantley King has had a hard life…and he’s made some hard decisions….Now, he’s just been released from prison, and he’s trying to find where he fits….King is an as-hole and has led a pretty lawless life…During his welcome-home-from-prison party, he’s “collecting payment” from a woman for a tattoo he just did, when a small, shy, waif-like girl walks in…and she watches….King is interested and feels drawn to her…..King knows she is too nice….too innocent for him and his life….But, that doesn’t mean he can let her go….
Doe (as in Jane Doe) has no clue who she is…or where she’s from…or anything she’s done since she woke up in a hospital after being found in an alley…Doe is living on the dangerous streets, and is in need of protection…When her friend, NIkki, takes Doe to a party to find her a biker for protection…when she’s hiding from an overly aggressive biker, she sees King…and there’s a connection….
There are twists and turns you won’t see coming…and they’re all good…even when they’re bad….
How do I even go about writing a review for this book? First off, I will say that this is out of my comfort zone. It’s dark and gritty which is far from the type of books I usually go for. BUT this story really latched on to me. I fell in love with the characters and the notion that not everything is as it seems. Not everything is black and white, there are gray areas. As I mentioned before, this is a darker read…with that being said I also want to put a trigger warning for rape content in this story. Just a heads up. There are also violence and a lot of f words throughout the story. So if that isn’t your cup of tea, here’s your warning.
Brantley King and his friend Samuel Clearwater aka Preppy run their town. Everyone fears them but they also have a lot of respect from other groups. King and Preppy had very difficult childhoods and upbringings. I really felt for them while reading this story. What really touched my heart was that yes, they did bad things but honestly….they were good people. I feel like they had to do bad things to survive but it wasn’t a path they normally would’ve chosen if they had a different upbringing.
One night Doe and her friend Nikki show up to King and Preppy’s house for a party. That’s where our story begins. Doe has lost her memory and doesn’t even know her real name. She chose Doe, as in Jane Doe, to go by. My heart also went out to this girl. Not knowing who she is, where she came from, where her next meal will come, etc. She really had it rough.
I definitely do not want to spoil any parts of this story for you all. It’s such a great story and one that made me cry more than once. Also, King is a possessive male so if that isn’t your thing….don’t even pick this up lol.
Overall, I cannot wait to continue on with this series. It always kept me on the edge of my seat and my jaw on the floor. This first book ended on a cliffhanger and my body NEEDS the rest of the story asap. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.
This story ends on one heck of a cliff hanger
This story is very dark, disturbing at times, and crude with bikers, tattoos, sex, drugs, lots of violence.
Author needs to do a bit of research as well.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book!!! This is the first of an amazing series!
Don’t Mess with The King of the Causeway!
Truly one of a kind. I devoured this book in two days, putting it down wasn’t an option. King and Doe were so perfectly different from any romance you may have read before. There is no comparison to this story because it truly is one of a kind in both story as well as characters.
TM Frazier has you, in a way, rooting for the “bad guy” because believe me there are worse men out there. Between King, Preppy and Bear you learn to love the gray areas of right and wrong and you’ll love it!

O my. That is seriously one fucked up – in the dark side – story you might have to get used to. King and Preppy are some force of nature that take no shit from anyone. The language is more that foul and they do not only leave one body behind… Doe doesn’t really fit into the mix but she’s got something that pulls King towards her. When shit really hits the fan it’s about life or death. The cliffhanger is amazing. Though I usually hate those. Makes you want to keep reading and that’s what makes a good story.
I have read this series numerous times and I feel horrible for it taking so long for me to write reviews for all of TM’s books – so what better way than to go thru, read them again and finally get those reviews done.
TM has this unbelievable talent to create a dark and delicious world full of characters that you will grow to love and want to protect with every ounce of your being. The stories will stick with you, the characters will haunt you (in a good way), and make you want to go back to relive them repeatedly. This book is proof of all of that.
This is my first read from the amazing TM Frazier and I have to say definitely not my last. What an epic read I was totally blown away with this book so much that I had a book hangover for weeks. Nothing I read next compared to this book it’s that amazing. I couldn’t stop gushing about King and told everyone about him probably to the point of annoying. I even told a friend that we couldn’t be friends if she didn’t like him.
When we are introduced to King you know he is not a man to mess with.
He is King in every sense of the word.
He meets his Doe, his pup and things are never the same for the pair. It’s an epic love story, it may not make sense to most as she is his captive but it’s meant to be. If you’re thinking about reading this STOP thinking JUST READ IT!!’
King is my fave new read of the year. Mind blowing, panties wetting good.
Wow, where to start. First of all I loved every chapter of this book! The characters were absolutely flawed and wonderful. I don’t know who I love more or why. This book is not for the faint of hearts but definitely a great read.
I liked the story. The lead characters sucked. The best character gets the adios halfway through the book which makes it pretty much suck after that. I’m glad I read it because I’ve been meaning to every time I saw the title pop up, but I won’t read the rest of the series. I don’t like these people enough to care.
