THE KING OF WALL STREET IS BROUGHT TO HIS KNEES BY AN AMBITIOUS BOMBSHELL. I keep my two worlds separate. At work, I’m King of Wall Street. The heaviest hitters in Manhattan come to me to make money. They do whatever I say because I’m always right. I’m shrewd. Exacting. Some say ruthless. At home, I’m a single dad trying to keep his fourteen year old daughter a kid for as long as possible. If … daughter a kid for as long as possible. If my daughter does what I say, somewhere there’s a snowball surviving in hell. And nothing I say is ever right.
When Harper Jayne starts as a junior researcher at my firm, the barriers between my worlds begin to dissolve. She’s the most infuriating woman I’ve ever worked with.
I don’t like the way she bends over the photocopier—it makes my mouth water.
I hate the way she’s so eager to do a good job—it makes my dick twitch.
And I can’t stand the way she wears her hair up exposing her long neck. It makes me want to strip her naked, bend her over my desk and trail my tongue all over her body.
If my two worlds are going to collide, Harper Jayne will have to learn that I don’t just rule the boardroom. I’m in charge of the bedroom, too.
KING OF WALL STREET is a sexy, standalone romance.

For all her life, Harper had wanted to work for Max, owner of a Wall Street business. Her dream finally comes true. Their boss/employee relationship was not that simple. There is more to Max then just Max the businessman. Awesome story, the chemistry between Max and Harper was sizzling. I don’t normally re-read books but I would with this book. Louise Bay is fast becoming my new favorite author.
My first 5-star rating this year goes to Max and Harper’s story. King of Wall Street is both an office- and a frenemies-to-lovers romance at its best; this standalone has it all: well-portrayed, multi-faceted characters, a forbidden affair, two souls mates coming together, amazingly crafted dialogue, the most heart- and panty-melting moments in romance history, and the most incredible sex talk I’ve come across in forever. And yes, I looooved each and every word of it. Secondary characters are great too, which never hurts and is a sure sign of a brilliant read in my book.
Had I to use just one word to describe this book, Perfection is the first one that comes to mind.
This wasn’t what I was expecting at all. I expected Max to be way more Alpha male-y/ asshole. He wasn’t at all… Although Harper wouldn’t have agreed with me in the beginning LoL. Not that that would have put me off in the slightest… It’s just that personality wise I felt this didn’t go the way of the norm. I liked it. It’s my first Louise Bay book and I’m ready for more.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Don’t think I have read many from this author that I have disliked.
Single dad Max King is ruthless in his job as a CEO in his successful company and has been doing well for himself. But when Harper comes to work for him, he’s turned upside down.
Harper never thought she would land her dreamjob but when she goes to work for Max, it’s everything she wants and has worked for. That excitement quickly ends when it seems she can’t do anything right for her boss.
One encounter changes it all and turns both their worlds upside down. Both will have to choose in the end what they really want.
Definitely a 4,5 star read for me.
This was an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I recommend this book, this author and this series.
Louise Bay is a wonderful writer. Her characters have depth and her story lines are great. Believable.
There were a few little things that bugged me but not a bid deal. Like how did the h have her dads last name but her parents were never married?
Great epilogue and HEA.
Outstanding
I loved the juxtaposition of Max King, king of his business world on Wall Street, but so out of his element at home in Connecticut with his teenage daughter and meddling sisters. Brilliant premise, I loved it! And I loved how unsure he was in his actions with the formidable Harper, she kept him on his toes! A great book!
Loved it. I’ve read all this author’s books and recommend them all!
Boring
Enjoyed. Could not put it down. Keep me very entertained.
This book was a surprise. Typically, the books in which one of the main characters having a child tend to be a little more tame. Not so in this case. Bring on the noisy neighbor!
Very good read. Just enough of everything
This is a new author for me, I didn’t know there’s so many excellent authors out there.
I love Max and Harper’s story.
* Very good storyline that’s not rushed but still feels like it go fast forward because I can’t put the book down.
* Well described characters with feelings and flaws. Secondary characters that I can’t wait to read.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Dialogues is fun, emotional and helps the story going forward
* The chemistry between Harper and Max is coming through very well in the writing style and the love scenes is steaming hot but also sweet
If you love a story with hotness, emotions and strong characters I recommend this book.
I’m definitely going to read more from this author.
5 stars I loved it!!!
I thought the book was very predictable but a fun easy read.
Absolutely friggin loved this book. Single dad books are my jam and Max is the perfect reason why.
Worships his daughter, thinks his sisters are a pain in the ass, loves his woman. I can not gush about this book enough.
Highly recommend, I listen to it on audio and it’s so good. Who doesn’t love Sebastian York voice?
Max and Harper are a boardroom desk set too dynamite to pass up! Harper has landed her dream job but is quickly finding out her boss is a egotistical pigheaded stubborn jerk. She wants so badly to well but nothing is good enough for the perfectionist Max King ‘Of Wall Street’. Driving her deserve to succeed at King and Associates, is the abandonment issues she stemming from her absentee father Charles Jayne. Max has succeed in business because he smart and cunning and he keeps things separate. This personally life plays no role in this business domain – hardly a sole in the office knows hes a father for goodness sakes. But when Harpers beauty and brains upset his church and state mentality he is thrown for a loop. Suddenly he is fantasizing about her in the office and his home in Connecticut! Add to the fact the daughter loves her and all the pieces gel. But when Harpers father the big whale Max has been chasing for years starts to make make demands and waves will Max put business first or love?
I love Louise Bay reads because the characters are so real, sexy… and funny!
This read is steamy, romantic, and touching. A funny story with a lot of angst, King of Wall Street introduces us to Max King and Harper Jayne. They’re made for each other, except they didn’t know it. When he hires Harper Jayne, as a junior executive, their attraction is instant, but they’re both so arrogant they act like a-holes, (a word Harper loved to use) with each other. Max King is the King supreme of Wall Street, head of his own super successful company, he rules everything he does, used to getting his way and he can’t get that from Harper.
He also leads a double life. As a single father raising a 14 year old daughter, and the older brother to 2 sisters, at home he’s nothing but a fish out of water. Harper is her own kind of arrogant, used to professional success as well, but her family life resulted in her being aloof, obnoxious and non-committal.
That’s what made this read so charming and appealing to me. Their banter was delicious and their chemistry was a match made in Wall Street heaven. The characters were well developed, and we got to know them from the good, the bad and the ugly. Both were flawed and bound to family ties and conflict that they had to resolve in order to move forward in their personal life.
We saw their struggles in their personal life despite their outward arrogance. Besides their quest for perfection and professional success, both are bumbling idiots when it comes to romance and relationships.
What ended up happening to them, made this read an absolute must
Max and Harper what a fabulous story !
Max is our classic sexy, strong, savvy business man . He keeps his business and personal life separate until she enters the office.
Harper is a beautiful, intelligent , sassy woman . It is her goal to get the job done and get it done right. She knows her big brooding boss can be difficult but she will show him she will not back down and will not be deterred from doing a damn good job !!
Max soon realizes that Harper is affecting him in shall we certain ways and it infuriates him! He cant cross the line but sometimes you have to let fate takeover!!
I loved their witty sassy banter …they are certainly a power couple !!!

Harper Jayne has been desperate to work for Max King at his consulting firm, KING AND ASSOCIATES in New York. KING AND ASSOCIATES more so Max King, aka “The King of Wall Street”, is the reason she enrolled into business school in the first place. Now, three months after finishing business school at Berkley and moving to New York, she has her coveted job as a junior researcher at KING AND ASSOCIATES. She feels as if it is destiny that is lining up her life, but destiny seemed to have missed its mark. Only 6 weeks into her new position, all her hopes and dreams were fizzling. Her expectations for the clients they were working for met all her expectations, but Max King did not. “The fact was, despite being crazy smart, respected by everyone on Wall Street, and looking as if he should have been on a poster on teenage me’s bedroom wall, he was…Cold. Blunt. Uncompromising.” –Harper. His face and body lived up to Harper’s expectations, but he was a complete tyrant to work for. With the way he was towards her in the office, her expectations were shattered. So after that major career disappointment, Harper was determined to learn as much from her experience at KING AND ASSOCAITES as possible for the next two years, until she could go set up on her own or work for another company.
Max King, owner of KING AND ASSOCAITES, kept a strict divide between his personal life and his profession life…until now. Harper Jayne was testing that resolve. Her eagerness to learn was maddening and had him imagining doing things to her that he shouldn’t…not in his office. She pushed his buttons both mentally and physically. “Harper made me laugh, got me hot, and drove me crazy all within a ten-second window.” –Max. So he was determined to keep things professional between them. To prevent the lines from getting blurred, he kept her at an arm’s length. Until he found out that she not only works for him, but she also lives in his building. Those lines were increasingly getting blurred. But Max also had more than himself to think of, he had a 14 year old daughter, who looked up to him and learned from him. She was the only thing important in his life and the reason he didn’t seek out anyone. But a single touch from Harper has him questioning his motives behind not seeking out a girlfriend. He knows he can have any woman he wants. He doesn’t do the girlfriend thing, but Harper was making him want more. She was the complete package, “Talented. Beautiful. Sharp. Sexy.” and he wanted it all. But there were so many reasons that a relationship couldn’t happen between them. Most importantly, she works for him. They can’t possible make it work…can they?
What happens when one of Harper’s personal issues interferes with Max’s business? Can you really mix personal and professional? Can those lines be crossed without there being a fallout?
Can Harper let Max into her heart? Can Max allow himself time to have the things he wants outside of work and his daughter?
I did things slightly backwards and I read PARK AVENUE PRINCE first (my first Louise Bay novel, which I LOVED!), which is a spinoff of KING OF WALL STREET. So after reading that novel and getting a small dose of Max and Harper, I wanted to actually read their story and I am SO happy I got a chance to! I REALLY enjoyed this story! It was the right set of pace, the story was believable, and the characters were the right amount of complicated for me. It was sexy, sassy and completely irresistible. I would consider this story an enemies to lover’s type. Max and Harper were so aggressive toward each other right from the beginning! It was like reading a constant foreplay between these two! “I loved that mouth, the way it called me names, the way it called my name. She needed to be taught a lesson.” –Max. It was like one massive build up between them and when they finally did come together (pun intended), it was ELECTRIC! *fans self* Louise Bay described them as having a knowingness and a familiarity between each other, and that definitely translated in their interactions. They were truly perfect for each other…they just didn’t start out in the best circumstances…boss and employee. But it made for one massive tension filled story *wink*. Definitely a recommendation type of novel!
5 stars!

Harper moves from California to New York to work for Max King, she has been following his career and idolizes him and wants to work for him. Max seems to be cold and ruthless and keeps his distance and as the story unfolds these two they fall for each other. It’s a great story and good office romance. Max is Violet & Scarlet’s brother. I read “ The British Knights “ first which is Violet story and my first book by Louise Bay . This is my second book and I enjoyed reading this story . A nice engaging read.
