They say the fae used to take the most beautiful maidens and make them their brides. They lied.
What they do with them is much worse.
After the seven lords of Sidhe are massacred in one day, the thrones of the fae realm pass down to their heirs. The Iron Circle remains leaderless, as its true lord lives in another world.
The nobles of the realm will find the heir, and they will destroy him.
… find the heir, and they will destroy him.
Or her.
West, in the Silver Circle, a new lord has taken the throne.
A warrior who never hesitates to crush ants for the good of the world.
A man whose rule will change the fate of their realms.
Melpomene has never known where she came from, and after centuries, she’s stopped caring.
Until the fae take her, dragging her to a land where bloodlines and power is everything.
To survive, she needs to embrace the monster buried inside.
Lords of Sidhe is a fantasy romance trilogy.
The series is unsuitable for sensitive readers.

I need the Queen of Chaos now that I’ve read this!
Great story! Loved Mel. I have to admit I was getting impatient for Mel and Caim to meet and it took forever, in part due to the world building and also due the journey each character had to take to reach that moment in the story when they first become aware of each other. Once they did though, this story got much more interesting for me. There’s not really any romance to speak of but there is a mutual admiration and sexual attraction on both parts, and at a crucial moment in the story where their desire overrules their firm resolve not to go there, there is a single sex scene. In this first book these characters are still getting to know each other. I only hope that they remain the main focus of this trilogy unlike the characters in Darkness Falls series which features a different couple each book. I am really excited to see what happens next. 4.5 stars.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. King of Ruin is the first book in the Lords of Sidhe series and this was just such a great way to start off a new series. I just didn’t want it to end. I just fell in love with these characters and getting to go along on their journey. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.
A great beginning to a new series by May Sage.
This is an excellent book, highly recommend!
The writing flows with a wonderful storyline that is incredibly imaginative. Mel and Caim evolve fantastically throughout the story, individually and finally together. My heart was pounding for the big finale, and it ends with a sorta HFN. My only disappointment with this story is that I have to wait for the next book – I can’t wait to see what happens next. Seriously loved this story!
King of Ruin by May Sage is the first book in the Lords of the Sidhe series. This story revolves around an immortal named Melpomene or Mel for short. At the beginning, Mel lives in Paris, France, where she owns a shop selling books and potions. One night, Mel is attacked and stolen away to be taken to the world of the Sidhe. This book is an amazing tale of Mel’s resourcefulness and the will to survive within the fantastic world of the Sidhe that she is now forced to live in. This book’s story is so entrancing, full of adventure, and unique that I would definitely give it 5+++ stars if I could. This story is magical and so addicting that I couldn’t put it down. An amazing read for anyone looking to read a great book! King of Ruin is a phenomenal 5+++ star fantasy read!
Really enjoyed this one the finale for this felt a tad rushed but all else I thought was fab.
It was imaginative with great world building and really set the stage ready for this series future growth.
Its told in dual POV Mel (Melpomene) and Caim both seemed really well-developed characters with interesting personas.
Mel herself is supposedly a muse with a muddy pedigree descended down from immortal gods.
Caim is an Unseelie who has managed to acquire the silver throne.
When these two immortal destinies cross there paths become entangled.
So this is very much slow burn in regards to our central pair and any romance this really does concentrate on selling you this world and its story.
This is also a totally unique take on the whole fae concept with spaceships and Tartarus I really did love this and it made this just so distinct and original.
Adored the wicked dispositions and cruel intentions of those in this land of monsters and I am ever so interested in seeing where this series is going next as this really did manage to grasp my attention.
Lastly, we get some long-awaited action and a small cliffhanger of a finale and as I said earlier the finish for me did feel a tad abrupt and rushed and I also would have liked some prior build up to the long-awaited action as it just seemed to come out of nowhere.
Only small niggles and as I have said all else I adored.
I will most certainly be reading the next in this series how could I not.
This was one I really enjoyed a thumbs up from my corner.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of King of Ruin.

May Sage is a new author to me. I haven’t read anything like this book before, so I wanted to give it a try!
Melpomene is part of a clan of Muses. She’s been living in Paris for the last century and a half, brewing potions and selling books. Her clan wants her back but she’s stubborn and doesn’t want to return to Greece.
Caim has been an advisor to the Silver Lord for quite some time. After someone killed all the Lords of Sidhe, he finds himself fighting his way to become the regent of the Silver circle.
The chaos in Sidhe affects the immortals of Earth as well. The Iron lords are kidnapping them to find any heirs that may escaped to Earth. Mel was kidnapped as well and now she’s pushed into a world she thought was only a myth!
The first half of the book was a little slow-paced for me because of all the information we needed to learn about the world-building of the book. However, the last chapters were my absolute favorites. It’s when the connection between Mel and Caim started to form and some interesting facts about both their pasts were revealed! The book may not be heavy on romance, but what happened at the end peaked my interest and I really want to see what happens next!!!
I enjoyed this intriguing read. A blend of myth, magic and romance are combined with an entertaining storyline and interesinting characters to make a complex book and compelling start to this series. Mel and Caim’s relationship is slow burning and I do wish that there had been more heat in this book. I do look forward to the next book.
May Sage is brilliant at world building and character definition and it shows in this book. Brilliant start to a new series showing Gods and Sidhe/Fae in a slightly different light. The storey was good but I have only given 4 starts as the ending felt rushed and not quite right. I think more time needed to be taken with the slow burn and the sex seemed rushed I would have preferred more heat.
I love this plot. I love the premises behind where all paranormals come from in this world. That an advanced race of aliens comes and creates Fae, shifters, humans, witches, etc and were called gods or the Enlighten. It’s amazingly creative world-building and background characters development for this story as these characters are thousands of years old and in some of her other books. So well crafted. In this story, the Seven Metal Circles of Sidhe are in turmoil after the lost of some their metal Lords at a gathering. Two circles effected are Iron and Silver, both without clear heirs to the regency. In Silver, Lord Caim desires to lead his people but also longs to find a way to free them from their world that holds then prisoner; he will have to fight for the crown. In Iron, Lord Lyr may be loved but behind his smile he is cruel and cares only for himself; he will have to plot and find the last Lord’s bastard on Earth and steal their power once the bastard has the crown by eating their heart.
Mel thinks she is just an orphaned minor goddess, a muse on Earth. As an Immortal, she thinks she is nothing special until she is kidnapped by Lord Lyr’s goons and tortured. She has to fight for her life in Sidhe. She is offered free freedom and employment with Lord Caim until she can return home. But as time passes, she starts to question where is home? Who is she really and what does she want? When she is faced with a life or death situation, she finds some of the answers to those questions as well as some shocking emotions she has been trying to ignore. It’s hard to tell if it ends in a cliffhanger or if that’s the end, but I really hope there is more to this tale as the last chapter brought forth more questions than answers and another book for these characters would be great.
