The King of Iron Hearts
Is a fable now
A tale they tell children
About a man made of metal
Whose heart burned so boldly
It melted him from the inside out
This is a book about a man who feels too much and the woman who loves him. Divided into four parts, it explores the journey he takes from a young man with a wild, restless soul that yearns for something more to the wise man who understands the … understands the intricacies of love and loss. The last section shifts to the point of view of his woman to witness their love story from both angles.
This can be read as a stand-alone book of poetry, but it does tie into Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men, #1) and After the Fall (The Fallen Men, #4), two books in a series of stand-alone romance novels.

King of Iron Hearts is a poetry collection and the book is divided into four parts from the perspective of King and one part from Cressida.
It shows King‘s journey and I loved everything about it. Being able to actually read his wonderful poems just hits differently and King was able to steal my heart even more.
Later on it also reflects on King and Cressida‘s love story and I really loved to see this from both of their perspectives through poems and it was just an incredible experience all around and I highly recommend it.
King of Iron Hearts is composed of poetry, which reflects the Fallen Men series. This collection shows us the characters deeper feelings which is dark and emotional. The book is a re-visit and shows perspective of the characters. It’s mostly of King’s thoughts, about his empire, his family.
I’ve been reading this book for over a month between a read or a cup of tea. It seems Giana Darling cannot forget her characters. I imagine she is wishing her characters to live and breath. The words in this book are impactful and raw. I really like the idea of dedicating poems on behalf of the characters.
Amazing companion to read more about King. A must read, this is all the poetry King wrote to Cressida in Lessons in Corruption. No need to read the book to enjoy this piece of poetry.
KING OF IRON HEARTS by Giana Darling is a collection of poetry that King wrote Cressida in Lessons in Corruption. Although you don’t have to have read that book to enjoy this poetry but it just puts a cherry on top of that book. I am a big fan of this author’s writing so reading her poetry take was an added bonus of that writing.
The best gift and the most perfect companion to After the Fall! While reading Lessons of Corruption I wished I could read all the poems King wrote Cress and we finally get the chance with The King of Iron Hearts to fall deeper in love with King the same way Cress did! Not only do we get King’s poems about Cress but we also get to see different phases of his life, as well as the lives of the people around him, through his poetry. Even more, the last part of the book features a collection of poems written by Cressida so we truly get to experience their love story from both perspectives but in a different way than we do reading Lessons in Corruption and After the Fall.
I honestly don’t think my words can do this book justice. With so much beauty and raw emotions dripping from each page, reading this book was an emotional roller-coaster that made me feel everything! Many of the poems, if not most, resonated with me and became favourites that I wanted to print and post on my walls. I’ve already lost track of how many times I’ve reread The King of Iron Hearts. The poems were like puzzle pieces that came together to form the most beautiful picture to tell a thousand stories, and I enjoyed assembling and dismantling it over and over again.
Definitely recommend, because you will want to forever remember and treasure the poems in this book.
Welp, Giana Darling has made me a fan of poetry. Or maybe it’s just her poetry. This book of treasures is full of stunning words in small packages. There were MANY times when I had to reread a poem—even some of the shortest ones—just so I could fully grasp the emotion and meaning behind it. Sounds silly, right? Well it’s sure silly if you don’t let King of Iron Hearts into your heart. Giana keeps proving that she can write anything with passion and brains. 5 hearts for this gorgeous book of poetry!
Giana Darling did a wonderful job on King of Iron Hearts. This was written well, it was packed with so many emotions, that’ll take you on a rollercoaster. King had a way with words, he was a true Garro, he fought and love hard. I couldn’t put this book down, it was great. I’d suggest reading it.
Thank you, Giana Darling. Wonderful work 🙂
What an incredible unusual read for me. I honestly have only read one poetry book before and this book was everything and more. I think Gianna did an outstanding job the raw emotion felt through these words
This was beautifully written. Giana Darling has a way of pulling her readers into whatever she writes. I’m usually not a fan of poetry but I got lost in her words. I found myself relating to some of them.
I was never one to read poetry unless of course it was a class assignment. But I really enjoyed these poems. While reading this book I was imagining these characters and it was so easy to picture the poet. Power of the Negative really touched me because I have witnessed first hand what a rejection from a mother can do to a person. Bravo Giana Darling you are a word goddess. I bow to you.
I knew King Garro had a way with words from Lessons In Corruption. To read his words in a book….wonderful, speechless, there is so much more depth to him than I really understood.
Giana Darling, you have outdone yourself!! Can’t wait for another poetry book from King!!
Giana Darling continues to amaze me with her incredible talents! Poems from King’s perspective bring a new dimension to the Fallen stories. An emotional compilation of love and angst that I truly enjoyed. Along with King’s deepest feelings, Cressida’s poems are also included, giving us the full circle of love between them. Just Beautiful.
They say poetry is the voice of lovers and this has never been more evident then when reading the voice of King to his love. This biker man with a poets heart just melted mine, as I read the flow of his love like a river. It was not always smooth, calm or pretty, sometimes, it was violent, raging and powerful. Words of the heart are like windows to the soul and through the soul of King, I viewed beauty.
I’m going to share bits and pieces of the poems that struck a cord within my own heart and hope everyone of you will pick up these words of life and love.
WORTHY:
You have the worth you give yourself
SOUL IN SCRIPT:
As I write you a love letter.
My soul scrawled in script for you to decipher.
HER LAUGH:
Her laugh reminded me
Of the pop
When the cork escapes champagne
TWO HALVES:
We wander and are lost
Until we find the person
We were split from
At birth
And become once more
Whole.
LIFE’S PURPOSE:
In whatever planes of existence there are
On any star or parallel planet
You and I are together
These are just snippets of the beautiful prose contained within the pages of this book. To say I enjoyed it is an understatement. To say this a a testament of the extreme talent of this author is a truth and even though she may never label herself a poet…. she writes gorgeous words of poetry. I highly recommend this book.
Wow! Now this isnt usually my usual thing i read. But i loved seeing this side of King Kyle Garro our young poet. Talk about wow. And giving you glimpses into future books i feel like! So beautifully written.
While this wasn’t my typical read I was sucked in after the first couple pages. I knew Mr. King Kyle Garro had a little sweet in him. Some things that were mentioned made me really curious has to what’s coming. I feel like we got glimpses of some future people.
King Garro knew the way how to worship his love one.
Beautiful poetry collections.. The words had spoken with beautiful love and adoration..
Giana Darling continues to amaze me with her incredible writing prowess. This time she showcases her talent in the form of beautifully dark, romantic, and insightful poetry.
This collection is written from “King” Kyle Garro’s voice. These poems give us a different view into the Fallen Men’s world and this perpective is absolutely breathtaking.
Such a beautiful and unique way to give us readers more of our beloved men, but in a form that makes us stop, think, and feel the written words more deeply.
Thank you Giana for taking a chance on something that most would shy away from.
Poetry is not something that I would necessarily read, however when one of your favourite authors writes a book of poetry you read it. And when said book is the words of one of your favourite characters she has written to date you fall in love with him even more. King’s words are raw, emotional, loving and so much more whether it was many words or just a few. Highly enjoyable companion to the Fallen Men series. I read an advance review copy of this book provided by the author for an honest review.
I loved diving into these collections of poems. I loved getting inside the head of a character, especially King from Lessons in Corruption. He was such an interesting character. He brought more to the Fallen Men because of his quick wit. King understood the ways of the Fallen Men but wanted to learn and learn the ways of the world. He didn’t just learn that through school… He learned it a little bit more because of one particular individual.
There are many times throughout reading King of Iron Hearts that I stopped and reread. Not because I couldn’t understand what had been written. I just wanted the words, maybe some more than others, to sink in a little bit more. I’m not quite sure what After the Fall will entail but I know it will be one hell of a ride.
This is one of my favorite poem in the collection:
YOUR CURRENCY
Your worth is not measured by the angle of your hips
And the gap between your thighs
And the breadth of your smile.
It’s hidden shyly in the corners of your face
For few to find.
A flower safe guarded in the middle
Of a book you have to study
Before you find the prize.
The true currency of your glamour.
What a beautiful surprise. I’ve always loved poetry but his book elevated my love even more. Giana outdid herself, giving us a raw look into King’s world and his vivid thoughts. Absolutely loved it.
