I never meant to fall for a prince… now nothing can be the same again. It wasn’t meant to be this way… My life was safe and protected; perfectly controlled. Then he came and smashed everything I knew, everything I thought I knew, into pieces. He broke my heart with his lies and deception, but now he’s under my skin and I can’t go back to the life I once had. All roads lead to him, the king of my … had. All roads lead to him, the king of my heart, the man I would change everything for.
But with royalty comes obligation and expectation. Everyone wants a piece of him.
Inside the palace walls, he swears to keep us safe, yet I know the promise isn’t his to make.
Can he be the person his country needs while also loving us? Can I be the woman who stands proud by his side, or will I always be the daughter of a drug addict who has no place in the higher realms of society?
He says we can make it work, that we can fight tradition and give his people something new.
I wonder what price we will pay to be free to live our dream.
A heart-stopping rage to riches tale.more
Well Anna Bloom broke me again! Absolutely adored Leia and Oliver’s story – it broke me and put me back together again. I’ll defo be reading more of her books!
This is the continuation of Leia and Oliver’s love story. The world seems to be hell bent on keeping these two characters apart. Leia comes from stark if not humble beginnings. She has fought against all odds to make a life for herself and her daughter. She never in a million years thought she would fall in love, let alone fall in love with the heir to the throne! The culture shock at minimum is a huge challenge. The pomp and circumstance, the litany of rules and expectations that come with loving a royal threaten to crush this young love under its weight. Oliver has had a lifetime under this microscope and trying to live up to the expectations placed upon him for simply being born.
This book allows the reader to see this conundrum from the perspective of not only its main characters but the supporting cast as well. The struggle to meet the expectations of the throne as the royal family has taken and continues to take its toll on all of them. The story unfolds and shares how each member navigates the struggle to be “real people” as well as royals. There are surprises, heartfelt moments and a few laughs as well.
I highly recommend this book to those who want to see the best in ourselves win the day.
I loved Tabloid Princess. (Book One in the series)… LOVED LOVED LOVED.
So when I started this and realized it was picking up where book one left off, I was over the moon. I adore Prince Oliver and Leia… I have from the beginning. They have held a place in my heart since the moment the author introduced her readers to them. This book was so much more than what I thought it ever would be. I was blindsided and didn’t realize how much this would take hold of my heartstrings and tug at them. My emotions were all over the place…
This is the conclusion to Leia and Oliver’s story and what a conclusion it was. These two started off rocky…They were anything but perfect but Oliver didn’t give up when it came to Leia… Wanted to prove to her he was the right man for her. He was a charmer and an all-round perfect hero in both book one and two and he has won Leia over but this love story is anything other than a fairytale. Everything and anything that could get in the way of these two finally getting their happily ever after… It did.
These two were perfect together and just as their own person. Both loving and would do anything to help others. They truly are two people that want to do go in this world and have hearts of gold, but Oliver is in like for the throne, and not everything in the royal is perfect. Some of the things that were expected of him are not things that are him or in his nature.
I went into this book knowing it would be amazing. It was a given, what I did not anticipate was the depth and the raw emotions that came along with this couple and their journey to a happily ever after. Anna is known for her angst, her emotional plot twists that have often left me breathless and in shock and awe and this beauty was no different.
This book tackles some difficult subjects,… some difficult for me too… But I honestly think the author tackled them with skill and grace, which made this story even more enjoyable and made me fall in love with the plot and the characters and had me hanging on every word. I wish I could go into detail but there would be no fun in that. Just know that this author brings you all the feels and this story along with her others will take over your body, mind, and soul.
I cannot recommend this duet enough.
It’s a must-read and a prime example of why Anna Bloom is a top favorite author of mine
Scandal Queen is everything and more!!! Gosh, my heart hurts from so many emotions. I absolutely adore Oliver and Leia. The Tabloid Princess series is a must read. Absolutely loved it Anna!!!
Her heart in pieces after almost losing her daughter, and casting Prince Oliver away she seeks refuse in a remote village.
No reporters, no cameras just time to try and breathe through the pain.
He needs her, she grounds him, brings reality to their door. But more importantly he knows she’s the one.
Can he change her mind, be a part of their lives or is it too little, too late..?
This is a direct continuation from Tabloid Princess, which is the introduction to them and their very different lives.
I loved the change in Leia in this book. She became what she needed to be in order to have a slice of happiness.
She stopped running, stopped letting her fear control her and thus was ready to own her heart.
Oliver continued to be the dream guy, blending into her family life like he knew that’s where he belonged.
No heart is safe with him around that’s for sure. He’s so loveable and completely and utterly perfect!
I’m not usually one for the royals, but this was written in such a way that I wanted to know more.
I think their backgrounds balanced each other out, and made the story easy to both love and connect with.
Anna has done a fantastic job with this. She’s one author who can write across a variety of sub genres and each one be as good if not better than the next.
“Can you love me if I’m only a man, with just his heart to give?”
If you didn’t fell in love with Oliver, Leia and Daisy, you’ll definitely will loose your heart to these three by the end of Scandal Queen. This second book in the Tabloid Princess duet is a wonderful conclusion that will capture your heart without doubt. The modern fairy tale vibe is still strong in this one but mixed with real life struggles to adjust.
Oliver is still one of the most adorable guys ever written, Leia shows her strong-willed fighting spirit and Daisy, well this little adorable princess goes up and beyond.
Scandal Queen is entertaining and heartbreakingly beautiful.
“Everything about us is a moment, Ollie. Everything.”
Such a fantastic conclusion! Fairytales do come true!
“I will never love you in secret again. The risk to losing you is too great.”
Following on from the cliffhanger in the first book, we see Oliver and Leia coming back together. Against all the odds, they are determined to make it work – out in the open and properly in the public eye. I absolutely adored Oliver’s resolute determination to never be without Leia again. They and the royal family will be severely tested by public opinion, personal battles, and secrets that have been suppressed. Oliver is determined to bring the family into the 21st century with Leia’s help. One thing he will not compromise is a life with Leia and Daisy.
“I can’t breathe without you.”
This was a wonderful conclusion to Oliver and Leia’s story. The prince is so swoony! There’s so much love and irresistible passion between them. I was rooting for them all the way as they navigated their way through numerous obstacles and heartbreak. And, such a beautiful ending. Thoroughly recommend this duet. Pure escapism!
This book picks up where Tabloid Princess left off. Prince Oliver and Leia are involved but his responsibilities to his royal family and as the heir to the throne cause them problems. Leia and her daughter Daisy were just getting by in life until she met Oliver. Leia is sassy, no holds barred and will tell it like it is every time. Oliver is a hero and the perfect compliment to her and so wonderful with Daisy. I loved this story and was sad to get to the end. A truly wonderful duet.
What a wonderful conclusion to this duet! If you didn’t completely fall in love with Oliver, Leia, and Daisy in Tabloid Princess then this family will make you fall in love with them within these pages. Your heart will melt, it will break. You’ll want to scream, laugh, and cry. You’ll probably even want to tell a royal off. But there is no doubt in my mind that you will love these 3 (especially after Daisy’s little snaffu). Love this duet and so sad to see it end! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
The stunning conclusion to the Tabloid Princess, which stole my heart and took my breath away, a royal romance read that had me literally begging for more, beautifully written, poignant, emotional, a wonderfully engaging plot line that deals with some difficult issues and characters that you can’t help but fall in love with.
I loved the way Prince Oliver is portrayed, brought up living and breathing to be one thing, but never being able to truly be himself until he met Leia. I loved how he fought for Leia tooth and nail, how he showed his emotions and vulnerabilities, and how he was determined to live a life he wanted not how he was taught to be.
Leia was such a strong mum for her daughter, basing her whole life around her, not wanting the life that she had to go through with her own mum. Her kindness, humility, thoughtfulness and honesty made her a wonderful heroine, just what Prince Oliver needed in his life, and he turned out to be everything Leia so richly deserved.
I loved how real the story felt, how I could picture being in the royal apartments or in the gardens, so beautifully descriptive. Oliver and Leia were soo good together, they were the perfect fit, but nothing was easy for them, they really had to work for it, anything that could go wrong for them did, before it got better. I loved the view you got of the royal family, on their take of things, how they had been brought up to hide things from view and never really face reality or consequences, which in this story turned out to be absolutely heartbreaking.
Emotionally this delivers quite a punch, you go through a whole range of emotions with and for the royal pair, empathising what they were going through and rooting for them, hoping beyond hope they would get their happy ending.
This is THE royal romance read for me, it’s set the bar really high for other royal reads to follow, none of which come close currently. I cannot recommended this to you highly enough, one of my tops reads for this year, this duet has been just fabulous.
Scandal Queen continues on from Tabloid Princess so if you haven’t read it, that’s your first stop on this Royal fairytale.
This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, it’s easy to read with great characters, and a complete page-turner.
Tabloid Princess book ended with the future not looking too good for the happy couple and things are not easier for them in this book, they have a battle of love to win.
SOME SPOILERS
Being in the limelight all the time, having your whole life scrutinised, by the media and gossips whether it be truth or lies, can’t be easy, and because of the old fashioned way the monarchy is run they don’t make life easier by showing themselves as stiff-upper lipped, snobby, better than the rest of the mere common folk.
If the monarchy just relaxed a little to show that they really only are regular people at the end of the day, they might just win over the hearts of the country.
The rules need to be changed up a bit and Oliver with the help of Leia Daisy might just be the team to do it.
But with all the truths and lies brushed under the carpet, it can’t be mentally healthy, and some of them might be hiding more than others. When these people snap, will they get through unscathed? or will it be too late?
Will Prince Oliver and his two special princesses get a Royal fairytale HEA?
*Note: Serious issues of drug abuse, suiside and asthma*
Every once in a while it is nice to read a story with a sweet, nice guy. While I prefer my H to be a little more rough around the edges, I did enjoy Oliver. The way he was towards Daisy made my heart melt. I love that Leia really brought out the best in Oliver. They really were perfect for each other.
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
Well done Anna Bloom, you couldn’t have written a more perfect conclusion to Tabloid Princess and this duet. You made me laugh and swoon, I honestly couldn’t have loved Oliver and Leia more.
I was rooting all the way through for Oliver and Leia to have their Happy ending and you did give it to me even if you did rake my poor heart through the coals to get there. These two had so much to deal with and was hoping they had the strength to get through the obstacles put in front of them.
Anna you may have put tears in my eyes at certain points but you made my heart soar in the end so well done on another phenomenal read.
Started Scandal Queen as soon as I finished Tabloid Princess, it starts off where book 1 finishes.
Emotions felt while reading in no particular order….. Worried, swooned, got anxious, smiled lots, angsty, swooned some more, got tearful and more swooning, lots of smiling.
A great conclusion to Leia and Oliver’s story, both wonderful characters, both strong and full of love with a caring nature. Little Daisy and Nana make it all that more real.
The romance between Leia and Oliver is heart-warming and you feel the passion through the writing. You do wonder though if they’ll ever get a moment when they’re not being judged or having a moment ruined by royal life or something from Leia’s life being dug up.
I found their story delightful and I loved being absorbed into this royal/fairytale romance. I feel a book hangover coming on, missing Ollie and Leia already!
Scandal Queen by Anna Bloom picks up where Tabloid Princess ends and I have to admit that when I opened the book up at the first page, I really hoped that I would love the continuation of this incredible story just as much as in the first book…. and I did!
Oliver and Leia each possess a heart larger than the sun, filled to the brim with love. They both want to help others and make a difference in so many ways but since Oliver is heir to the throne, what they wanted to happen and what the monarchy would allow happen was more than often not one and the same. I adore this couple. I loved how Oliver and Leia fought to stay true to themselves, to do what they believed was right. Their incredible personalities had me rooting for them from the word go, and I hoped that those opposing their relationship and ideals would eventually be able to embrace and love the couple, and support them along the way.
I have absolutely loved spending time with Ollie and Leia, and as expected Daisy was often alongside them too. Leia was so young when Daisy was born and I have to say she did an incredible job raising her. In Scandal Queen we spend a lot more time at the palace with King Henry and his family and I absolutely loved this. I felt that all the characters played an important part in making this story outstanding and some of my favourite scenes in the book are within the walls of St Mark’s. I also thought the author brought the story to life with her incredible writing – I could almost believe I was there with them.
I desperately wanted Oliver and Leia to have a fairytale ending to their romance and I knew there would be obstacles in their way, but I hoped that they would find the strength to overcome these obstructions, which included both crown and country. This young couple had two completely different childhoods that neither of them signed up for. They both have had the weight of the world on their shoulders at times, and I am a true believer that good people deserve happiness in their lives.
I’ve been captivated witnessing Oliver and Leia’s journey since the very first chapter in Tabloid Princess – sitting on the edge of my seat at times. I’ve felt every emotion possible over the two books. This is one story that I urge you to read. It is up there alongside my favourite reads of all time. I already know you will fall in love with and enjoy Oliver and Leia’s story, and I’m certain it will also leave you wanting more.
I absolutely loved this book!
For me, it was miles better than the first of the series ‘Tabloid Princess’. The characters were well developed and I loved the fact that Leia developed a backbone and was almost fearless in her love for Ollie. At the end, I cried ugly tears, absolutely saddened that it was coming to an end.
I can’t fault this book one bit.
Anna Bloom well done!
This is the follow-up to Tabloid Princess and picks up where the first one ended. I don’t think it could’ve been any more perfect! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I laughed, swooned and had tears in my eyes. So many emotions went through me and I couldn’t love Oliver and Leia more than I did in this book. I just didn’t want the story to end! The story also kinda reminded me of Prince Harry and Meghan, how their love unfolded before everyone’s eyes although Oliver and Leia’s journey has been different. A definite favorite of mine for 2019 and a must read!
Leia has been through so much the last few years but seems to have found love in a way she never thought would have happened, to be in love with a Prince that is destined to become King. When they parted ways, her heart was left broken in pieces and she doesn’t know what to do. Her daughter’s best interest is still her number one priority but she can’t help the way she still feels for Oliver. Days go by and Oliver stands before her again to try and make amends. Even though they try their hardest to get everyone to see that the love they have for one another is real, it’s not easy when the whole world is watching your every move. When everything seems to be falling apart around them and tragedy happens, both will have to make a decision about their future… Will they be able to have their happy ending and maybe win the public over in the process?…
Scandal Queen started off where Tabloid Princess left us hanging and boy was it worth it. This story is full of so much emotion and the storyline is so perfect, I can’t complain about the wait.
The conclusion to Leia and Oliver’s love story is so amazing, I can’t say anything else and do it justice.
Also if anyone knows where I can get my own Prince Oliver, I’d highly appreciate it. That man is !
I highly recommend this read but remember to start with Tabloid Princess!
Completely worth the wait! Scandal Queen picks up where Tabloid Princess left us – and it does not slow down! I love everything about the conclusion to Oliver and Leia’s story!! AMAZING!! FIVE STARS!!
This wonderful book has warmed my heart. Beautifully written, it was an addictive page-turner from the start, I adored it!
I have to admit I’ve not particularly been a fan of royalty based romances. I’ve read a few and they’ve tended to be in fictional countries and very far fetched.
I discovered Anna’s books a year ago and she quickly became a one-click favourite, so I wanted to read this and I’m so happy I did, Anna Bloom has absolutely altered my opinion!
This duet is set in England based around the British Royal family and heir to the throne (all be it an alternative reality) and a kind-hearted, young single mother of the most adorable six year old girl, who grew up on a council estate but just wants to help people. The way it is written however means there weren’t any aspects that weren’t completely believable. The places exist, the characters, their secrets, actions, feelings, opinions and reactions could be and feel so real, I wouldn’t be surprised if I opened a newspaper to see Prince Oliver and Leia on the front pages. This I think is what made this story a big step up from others in this genre and made me believe their love could really work.
I’ve gone though every emotion reading this fantastic follow up to Tabloid Princess – I’ve smiled, laughed, been angry, shocked, surprised and hurt, felt their anguish and I’ve certainly cried at this heartfelt, heartbreaking and heartwarming story. Yes, it has a lot of heart! I’ve swooned at Ollie and Leia’s fairytale romance and got a bit hot under the collar at their sexy hot chemistry.
In summary, Scandal Queen has a beautiful depth with both characters and storyline, it’s what I’ve come to expect and love from an Anna Bloom book. You must read Tabloid Princess first as this continues straight on from it. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed if you give it a try.
5 big beautiful stars
