When a coma patient becomes pregnant under mysterious circumstances, Jai’s medical facility and employees come under intense government, media, and law enforcement scrutiny. During the investigation, he receives a call summoning him to The Castle following an attempt on his mentor’s life. Soon, Jai is thrust into a position and a brotherhood that will require more of him than he’s prepared to … he’s prepared to give. With it, a dark family secret explodes that has the potential to destroy the people he loves most.
Temple Devaughn survives a horrific ordeal that lands her in a year-long coma. She finally awakens, only to find she now has a child. The police are investigating the men who cared for her at a medical center, one that employs “controversial” but highly successful methods.
Yet, she has no choice but to trust Jai after she learns the lengths her family has gone to get their hands on a fortune they’ve kept hidden all this time. Complications arise, and Jai is forced to step in to protect Temple from the revenge-seeking perpetrator while showing that he can guard her heart as well.
Will Jai be able to fend off their enemies, fulfill his destiny at The Castle, and navigate a relationship with Temple that is marred by betrayal, mystery, and deadly attempts to silence her once and for all?

A heart-wrenching story for Temple Devaughn that ends with her finding well-deserved love and happiness. Loved Temple, India and Jai’s story.
This is book 4 in the Kings of the Castle Series. The story line was realistic and heart-felt. The characters were tugged at my emotions.
This one has a lot of plot twists and turns. A mysterious pregnancy of a coma victim. The family secrets surrounding three children and the Castle’s origins. Temple’s family plotting to kill her—twice. The introduction of the Knights into the Castle who are a group of Alpha men being mentored by the Kings of the Castle. They ban together to stop corruption inside and outside the Castle Organization. I love the fact that Jai, one of the Kings of the Castle shows compassion for his patients in the clinic, and for his fellow Kings. Temple and Jai’s romance shows that forgiveness is healing. This story shows that second chances can be beneficial to Life and Love.
Where have all the good men gone? They are members of the Castle. Get into it.
If I start telling all that I love about this book (and the others in the series) you all would hate me for the spoilers!!!! What you will love me for is the recommendation that you begin reading the Kings of the Castle and keep reading until there are no more books remaining in the series. The writing in this series is flawless; the reader is gripped from the first word and held captive until the final “The End.” Wonderful. Brilliant! Gripping! Page-Turner!
Naleighna Kai has done an excellent job of creating complex, real-life characters from whole cloth. You find yourself rooting for Jai and Temple as they begin to unravel the threads of intrigue surrounding them. Well done!
The Kings are almost over for me, one more besides this one..I have to say that this one was probably one of my favorites. You will go thru a whole series of emotions with this one, I mean a whole lot. The people that are supposed to care for you the most will be the one that actually lets you down, or more so the character here. Her parents were absolutely horrible, but luckily for her , her older siblings cared enough or actually loved enough to intercede, and why were things so horrible for her, money the root of all evil..Grab a copy and enjoy!
rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
The more I read about the Kings Of The Castle the more information I gather to try to solve who attempted to murder Khalil Germaine.
Jai is apart of a brotherhood of 9 men that Khalil brought together with good intentions to some day run the Castle. These guys are awesome.
Jai runs a faculty where he uses not so traditional mentions to help his patients. Jai is under investigation along with the men who are former prisoners with misdemeanor charges against them. One of the patients under Jai cares Temple Devaughn age 10 who as a child suffered at the hands of mother, stepfather and step uncle and her two siblings were instrumental in helping Temple escape. Temple is leading a good life when she meets Curtis who is wolf in sheeps clothing. He and Temple are engaged and Curtis wants to sample the honey before marriage and Temple wants no parts of it. Temple calls off the engagement and Curtis is unset, Temple takes off in her car and is a accident that leaves her in a coma for over a year and during that time Temple becomes pregnant and the Jai is under investigation about how could something like this happen at his facility. While Jai is investigating Temple’s pregnancy he founds out some very interesting information about the pregnancy, the Castle and its adversaries and information about about his relationship with Khalil, Vikkas and Mira.
Oh how these books are continually to get better and better.
If you have not read any of the “Kings Of The Castle” you don’t know what you’re missing.
No to book # 5 King of Morgan Park “Daron and Cameron”.
I live in Chicago so I was intrigued and thrilled about a series centered various neighborhoods (known to me) in Chicago. All the books in the series sound very, very interesting and don’t get me started on the lovely book covers–yum! yum! Though all the stories sound interesting, the synopsis that really grabbed my attention is this book — Kind of Devon. I was thoroughly intrigued with this story of a coma patient that is impregnated while in a coma! Whodunit?!
This crime happened under the watch of Jaideev ‘Jai’ Maharaj (King of Devon) and he wants answers immediately. What he knows for certain that none of his employees are responsible for the crime and he puts the wheels in motion to prove it. His enemies attempt to thwart him but they have no idea thee power he wields.
The victim, Temple Devaughn has survived a horrible past only to be violated once again in the present. She doesn’t need to look any further than her incubator/mother to know who is responsible. Her mother has always cared more about the money than she ever did about Temple.
The machinations, manipulations, and revelations are things to behold and I had to pick my jaw up off the ground quite a few times. The story is multi-layered and readers are easily able to keep up with the moving pieces of this chess game. I love the idea of this series and the idea of giving deserving men a second chance to get it right. The camaraderie among the men will touch your heart.
This series is while worth the time and minimal investment that gives readers much more than their money’s worth. Now on to the next book in the series.
4.25 stars–KING OF DEVON by Naleighna Kai is the fourth instalment in the multi-authored/multi-cultural KINGS OF THE CASTLE romantic, suspense series focusing on nine nine ‘brothers’ from the streets of Chicago (Vikkas, Reno, Shaz, Jai, Daron, Kaleb, Grant, Dro and Dwayne) mentored and taught by the mysterious Khalil Germaine at the exclusive Macro International Magnet School in Chicago. This is King of Devon and holistic healer Jaidev ‘Jai’ Maharaj, and Temple Devaughn’s story line. KING OF DEVON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading KINGS OF THE CASTLE (Book one) for backstory.
NOTE: Due to the nature and content of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from several third person perspectives including Jai and Temple, following numerous intersecting pathways KING OF DEVON is a detailed and complex addition to the Kings of the Castle. Jai Maharaj owns and operates a nursing facility where it is discovered that one of his young comatose clients, Temple Devaughn, have become pregnant while under his care at the Chetan Healing Center. An investigation into the staff throws shade at all of Jaidev’s employees but none more so than the man himself. Meanwhile several people with connections to Temple, to the Center, to law enforcement, and with the Castle elite all have an axe to grind or are looking for a pay out at the end of the day. But the birth of Temple’s daughter India finds our hero taking full responsibility for the little child, a responsibility that will come with feelings and emotions for Temple, herself. What ensues is the investigation, research and revelations about the who, how, and why, as the betrayal, secrets, lies, and greed slowly bleed the life and power from more than one person hell-bent on destroying them all.
Temple Devaughn has survived not one, not twice but three times against the abusive powers of the people sworn to love and protect. Sexually abused as a child, then again while under the care of the Chetan Healing Center, our heroine is made stronger but that which did not kill her or destroy. Jaidev Maharaj knows to fall in love with Temple goes against everything he has sworn to protect but something about Temple calls to our hero, something he is unable to resist or defend. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
Meanwhile Vikkas Germaine prepares to marry the love of his life but family secrets threaten to throw everything into disarray. From his father’s secret past to betrayal and lies, Vikkas will come face to face with the siblings he has never known, siblings who remained hidden to protect them from the fall-out and collateral damage of numerous affairs, marriage, threats and greed.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including all of the Kings of the Castle and their significant others, Khalil Germaine, and his son Vikkas, as well as the introduction of a new generation of Kings known as the Knights including Hiram Fosten and his girlfriend, Bureau investigator Marilyn Spears . We are introduced to Donald Amos, and Big Red, Temple’s mother Sharon Liscell, and Temple’s ex ‘fiance’ Curtis Burnside.
KING OF DEVON is a captivating, intricate, revealing and meticulous instalment in the Kings of the Castle series. The world building continues to expose a little more about Khalil Germaine, the man who mentored the nine boys from the streets of Chicago, a mentor whose own life what barely under control. The premise is intriguing, fast paced and engaging; the romance is seductive and intense.
Jai runs a medical facility that helps people with unusual medical issues. Temple Devaughn is a comatose patient at the center who mysteriously becomes pregnant and wakes up as she gives birth. Jai falls for Temple and as he is investigating who raped Temple when she was in a coma, a family secret comes to light about his family. Loved this book. I was able to visualize it as if it was a movie. Can’t wait to read the complete series.
