I really enjoyed this book. This book starts where the last book ended. Mason has just left Jess as he doesn’t want his enemies to go after Jess to hurt him so he’s just being his protective self as he cares so much about Jess and doesn’t want her hurt. Jess is extremely heart broken as her and Mason just agreed to give it a go when her and Chandler were attacked by Baruch a Watcher who followed Lucifer to get back at Mason as he blames Mason for their fall from Grace, even if Mason was the Leader of the Watchers when they arrived on Earth not every Watcher drunk bl*od or damned their children to the same fate so it’s each Watcher’s own fault for giving in to the bl*od lust. God knows that Jess could use her father at this time so he allows him to show back up after 15 years and Jess finally finds out the truth about the night the Tear appeared and that her Dad Peter isn’t actually her biological Dad but God allowed him to use part of his own Soul to create her Soul since he’s a Guardian of the Guf (where Souls are created in Heaven). This is the first and last time God has allowed a Guardian to use part of their Soul to create another. I’m really glad that Jess has Chandler to lean on during this time as he helps her heal and they work together to find their next Vessel JoJo and I just love her she’s so carefree, happy and such a breath of fresh air. Chandler, JoJo and Malcolm come up with a plan to get Mason to realise he’s wrong in leaving Jess by ambushing him in his home in Colorado with her all dressed up. Malcolm leaves her at Mason’s house then phases away but if he’d only waited with her until Mason arrived, she nearly wouldn’t have d*ed by Asmodeus phasing her so many times so Lucifer and Mason couldn’t find them since Lucifer had forbidden Asmodeus from harming Jess so he got another Prince of Hell Mammon to do to deed. Luckily JoJo came into her powers while she was making Jess’s dress and that Jess jokingly asked her if she could make her dress invisible since Jess was getting embarrassed but it made JoJo think about the silly request while making the dress so she did it and that saved Jess’s life since Mammon and Asmodeus couldn’t find her when she disappeared and they were scared of Lucifer finding them so they phased away and Jess had just enough time to call out to her Dad before passing out. Her Dad had just enough time to heal her as she was that close to dy*ng since the human body and mind isn’t made to phase that many times. This actually showed Mason that Jess has her own enemies so they’re better off together as Jess would be in danger either way. Chandler makes a stupid decision with Jess that he regretted straight away and I really would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall when Mason and Chandler had their conversation after what Chandler did. Jess gets to meet her biological grandfather and he seems like an amazing guy that is going to be part of Jess’s family in Cypress Hollow. I can’t wait to see where Faison ended up when she decided to go through the Tear since she was grieving the love of her life John Austin’s d*ath and how Jess and Mason’s quest to the other world to get her back home. I hope the trip helps Mason let go of some of his guilt so the scar on his face heals some more like God said it would. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author.
