This author is just wounderfull and totally enjoyable, can not get enough of his books. Most I have listened to on Audible books which I truely enjoyed because thecharacters voices add to the whole image in my minds eye. I have read All the books this author has written in this series and love them all. I Highly recommend the books in this series to anyone out there who enjoys a great modern day cowboy with a side of Native American.
I have mixed feelings about this book but that is because of my expectations and not the book or the author’s writing. As a diehard fan of the Longmire tv show, I decided to indulge in Johnson’s book series only recently. Having said that, I’ve had some challenges in separating my thoughts and feeling between the show and the books.
Without getting into any spoilers, for nearly half of this book, I truly felt I just wanted to skip this book and move onto the next and so much of that had to do with how the books are exhibiting the profound differences between the show and the books – some I like and some I don’t. Even the second half of the book revealed more differences that I definitely did not like, hence, the 3star rating.
This is not the books fault but rather something that I am just going to have to get over. While many will say that they like the books better, I happen to like the show better. That’s not to say that I don’t like the books, I do very much, as evidenced by my reviews of the first two books. Unfortunately though, this third book has been my least fave installment in the series. I still like the series and will be continuing it.
The Walt Longmire books are a great read.
I enjoyed this entry in the series even more than the first two, even though Walt was away from his Wyoming stompin’ grounds. His relationships with the Cheyenne Nation, his daughter, and Vic just keep getting better. I especially enjoy his repartee, introspection, and the understanding he has of horses.
Funny and sad and brilliantly engaging.
His best one of the series.
Love alll the Longmare books
The books are way better than the series.
Longmire books 5 x better than tv show
Love the Longmire series
I love the books in this series. It is one rare occasion when I think the TV series did a better job with the characters than the books.
Craig Johnson holds onto my interest from start to finish. Longmire and friends are just compelling.
Loved the entire series
Anything Craig Johnson is wildly entertaining and wonderful.
Good book!
I’m a fan of LONGMIRE on television, but, this is the first novel I have read. It was very interesting and sustained my interest all the way to the end!
I’ve watched him on Netflix, but this is the first book in the series about the down-to-earth sheriff from Wyoming I’ve read. I’m glad I finally got around to it.
