Every woman in Millie Delacroix’s family is cursed—kind of.Birth control just doesn’t work for them. Like ever. Going to the altar knocked up is pretty much a family tradition. And twenty-four-year-old Millie refuses to let that happen to her—again.Especially now that she’s responsible for raising her brothers and sister. A life of celibacy is her best defense—at least until the kids are grown … the kids are grown and can take care of themselves. And, really, what’s ten years with no sex? No men. No sex. No love. It’s a fool-proof plan.
Until she meets Luc Valencia.
The Mexican-American contractor is just trying to do his best. Since his father handed him the reins to the family business, every day is a test to prove himself. At this point in his life, professionalism has to be his top priority.
At least until Millie becomes Luc’s client. Even with too much on her shoulders, the feisty redhead has the power to set him off, crack him up, or bring him to his knees.
All he has to do is resist falling for her through one kitchen remodel, and everything will be fine. Right?

I got this beauty in the mail and dove right into it! This was a slower paced read but I did enjoy it. It was fun and sweet and you don’t have any crazy twists thrown at you. The characters were easy to love and in the end so was the book.
It was a fun surprise to receive in the mail.
When the blurb told me the hero was a builder, I had to listen to it. Who can resist a sexy builder who also speaks Spanish. I’m dead!
Luca was perfect,
Luca was perfect, so caring and kind. The ideal book boyfriend.
I liked the kids in this book a lot. They weren’t perfect and didn’t listen to their sister, let her do everything for them.
Millie, I admire her. She was pausing her future to raise her siblings after their parents’ death. She was strong-willed and stubborn.
They had so much chemistry, their attraction level was so high.
There was some steam in the book, but it was minimal. The build-up to it was very well done.
There were sad and grief-filled moments in this book, but humor and smiles had the upper hand. It is a feel-good story most of the time.
Em Eldridge and Gary Tiedemann Narrated the book so well. Gary Tiedemann has a gravely, heavy voice. It was so sexy to hear him talking Spanish. Em Eldridge’s voice is sweet as sugar.
This was a well narrated, pleasant, relaxing romantic comedy about falling in love and becoming together as a family.
It’s a perfect audiobook to listen to while relaxing at the hotel pool.
I loved this book! On a very difficult day for me personally this book gave me some distraction. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline.
Will look for other books by this author. (2019)
This author is new-to-me and I really loved her voice and writing style. The book tells the story of a young veterinarian who has to raise her three siblings after their parents die. Although she’s sworn off romance, she can’t help but be drawn to the handsome contractor in charge of the kitchen reno her mother started. This book is at times poignant, emotional, steamy, and swoony, and I loved the multicultural aspect of the story with the hero being Mexican-American.
Stephanie Fournet is a new to me author. But the book cover and blurb really drew me in so I decided to take a chance on an author I’ve never read before. Sometimes, it’s a hit, and sometimes, it’s a big miss. Kind of Cursed was a big hit!
Millie’s parents have recently passed away and she’s raising her three siblings and desperately trying to do that how her parents would have done it. But she feels like she’s failing more and more each day. Then she meets Luc. His little brother plays soccer with her little brother, and if that was the only connection they had, she could totally ignore the pull he has on her. But he’s also the contractor she’s hired to remodel the kitchen the way her mom dreamed before her untimely death. And Luc seems to know just how to handle all of her siblings, and he does it so well, how can she resist him? But what about the curse?
NICUnurse’s Rating: Y’all…I simply adored all of the things in this book. The characters were so relatable and loveable. I wanted to give Millie a big hug in nearly every scene. And Luc was just…perfect. Perfect for her. Perfect for her siblings. And even though he’s not a perfect person, he tries hard to be a good man. And he really is one of the good ones. I kept wanting to tell him to never give up on her, even when he was hurting and felt like giving up. The kids were just all-around great kids going through a really tough time. I adored Luc’s family, even if I kinda wanted to smack his dad a few times on the back of the head and tell him to wake up. So suffice it to say, I loved the characters, I loved the story, I loved the humor, and the heartache and the tears. Kind of Cursed is not just a story about finding that everlasting love, it’s a story about how wonderful blended families can be. And it’s a story that shows that you can hold on to memories, yet move forward from tragedy without sacrificing happiness. I quite simply adored this book! I’ll definitely be checking out more books by this author very soon!
I give Kind of Cursed by Stephanie Fournet 5 out of 5 stars!
Rating: 4.5
Kind of Cursed is my first book by this author and I genuinely enjoyed it. A funny and emotional love story. The main female character was a bit frustrating at times, but under the circumstances she found herself in, it was understandable. Overall a great read.
This book is so lovely and one of the best I read in the latest weeks. Luc and Millie are a lovely couple and the way the author created these characters it was like watching a movie of so real they were to me. They are young but have so much responsabilities in their hands and the “curse” is put it in the book as something fun and serious at the same time. The author was very sensitive in dealing with tough subjects and although sometimes I felt overwhelmed it was with love! Because this book is all about love and caring for each other. I just loved this book and highly recommend it!!
The story is as adorable as the cover. It’s a great romance with memorable characters. I think Fournet did a fantastic job with her diversity. I grew up in a border town with mostly Mexican-Americans and Mexicans and being third generation on my dad’s side I can tell you family gatherings and going to friends houses for holidays were always crazy, fun, with such good food and Fournet captured that with the Valencia Thanksgiving. I fell in love with Luc, he’s patient, kind, good with kids, a hard worker, good with his hands put him on the ever growing list of book boyfriends and kick a few guys further down the list. I’d love to be more like Millie as strong as she is able to take guardianship of her three siblings after the death of both parents and a bad break up and more she is patient and so loving and so scared of going into another relationship for fear it would end like her first.
Millie’s parents, a doctor and an interior decorator, left them off well enough Millie didn’t have to worry about money, they even had some earmarked for the kitchen renovation. Millie wasn’t expecting it but after hearing her what her mother had planned she knew they needed to do the remodel. Luc is trying run the company his father built from the ground up, he’s trying to be the boss he needs to be while not disappointing his father. Falling in love with Millie was not what he intended but the strong woman who took on raising three kids needed to be loved and cherished too he just needed her to realize that very reason she’s thinks will scare him away just makes him love her all the more. But the process of them getting there is hilarious and so worth the read.
I absolutely adored “Kind of Cursed” because of its sweet, funny, emotional plot and wonderfully three-dimensional characters. The female lead character, Millie, was amazing! She had so much responsibility placed on her shoulders at such a young age, but she handled it like a pro, and the love she felt for her siblings radiated off the page.
Millie’s love interest, Luc, was also pretty great. He made a fantastic partner for Millie because he knew firsthand what it was like to have to step up and take responsibility for one’s family, and like Millie, he had to do it much sooner than he ever expected. I loved the way Luc immediately seemed to fit in with Millie and her siblings, and tried to take some of the burden from her. The way he took care of them all when Millie and Emmett got sick was lovely, and immediately earned him a place at the top of my list of book boyfriends.
Millie’s siblings were great secondary characters, as were Luc’s family members, especially his brother Alex and their abuela. Her “dreams” were both amusing and frighteningly accurate, and I loved the role she played in getting Millie and Luc together.
Overall, “Kind of Cursed” was a delightful story and I highly recommend it. I will definitely be checking out more of Stephanie Fournet’s work in the future.

I really, really enjoyed this one. I literally had a hard time putting it down. It’s full of humor that will have you laughing, but it’s also has plenty of heart. There are parts in this one that will just hit you in the heart and you get a little teary eyed. Millie and her siblings what they have gone through in a short time will make your heart ache for them, but fate is going to shine down on them. Luca and his family will win you over instantly. I want to go over their house for the holidays. It sounds like so much fun. The curse of the women of Millie’s family adds a humorous spin o the book and that theory is proved a few times. I would highly recommend this book because you’re easily going to get lost in the book. The characters are great and engaging. They deal with everyday life and the struggles. This is a book you’re sad to see end.
I was SO pleasantly surprised by this story! I went in new to this author and was just so happy to have found this sweet, original romance.
There are so many great elements here, but from the get go the chemistry and inevitable epic love between Luc and Lizzie is there. The way that family is treated throughout is so, so good. There’s no way not to fall in love with these characters, their story and want a happy ending for them!
Highly recommend!
