There will be tears, laughter , confusion and worry over the reactions of both clans to the coming big changes. All the characters are strong and loving. They want the best for all concerned.
A very entertaining, fun read.
I loved it.
When King William decided that the Drummond and Blair Clans were going to stop years of fighting and killing members of each clan; the only way was by marriage between them. But the old lairds refused to listen to reason and the marriage never happened. However; the strange thing that happened was, love at first sight occurred with not one couple but two. So, as they plan how to make the marriages happen, not wanting to lose their lands, one of the betrothed disappears. Enter secret passages, ruined castles and a green ghost. What a wonderful, fun Kilty Party, Anna Markland has provided for us to enjoy.
The King William has demanded Shaw Drummond and Caitlin Blair must marry each other and uniting two enemy clans from feuding or they’ll forfeit their ancestral lands and homes. One look at each other and they knew they were meant to be together in a love at first sight that is until their family’s got out of hand and the wedding was canceled. The union is thwarted by Shaw’s older sister Fiona and Caitlyn’s older brother Rory. The king ends up sending the Dragoons to confiscate both castles and arrest their lairds only to find both the sons Shaw and Rory are now the new Lairds of their Clans. Caitlyn missing and a romance starts up between Fiona and Rory. A great story with wonderful characters I voluntarily wrote a review for.
Scotland, 1699
Well the news was not good. The King had decreed that Shawn Drummond and Caitlan Blair were to wed, uniting two enemy clans. As you can image they were not happy, at least until they met.
Waiting in the chapel, Shaw was stunned when Caitland walked into the room. “He was seized b an urge to laugh, to rush over, pick her up and twirl her around. Caitlin Blair was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. His knees threatened to buckle.”
Caitlin felt the same when she saw Shaw! They agreed they seemed meant for each other. Of course not everyone was happy and could you blame them? Enemies for years and now to become bethrothed so quickly and with no choice?
But it seems Caitlin’s brother Rory and Shaw’s sister Fiona seemed to be attracted too? So what could go wrong? Well Caitlin disappears and it seems unworldly figures appear and the story is filled with a lot of humor and steam that will keep you wondering what aill happen! Loved it
Kilty Party by Anna Markland is a cute little tale revolving around two Scottish families who have been feuding for hundred of years and can’t even get the reason for the feud straight. The king has decreed that Shaw Drummond marry Caitlin Blair and that they are to meet at Stirling Castle to formalize the betrothal. Neither is excited about the prospect but both are aware that to ignore the king’s command could mean that their properties would be forfeit. As they meet at Stirling they are immediately drawn to one another and decide that this was a marriage made in heaven. Meanwhile both fathers are embroiled in a fight and both declare the betrothal to be off. Shaw and Caitlin disagree but are powerless. Both promise to find a way to honor their betrothal before they leave. Shortly after their return to their individual homes, the king has sent troops to assume control of the properties. By this time, Shaw has assumed control of the clan from his father, and Caitlin’s brother, Rory, has taken control from his father, not without a certain amount of trouble. No one can find Caitlin. Rory is certain she is with Shaw and Shaw believes her to be at her home, with her family. The search is on.
This is a totally entertaining story with people criss-crossing in similar purpose, people other than Shaw and Caitlin falling in love, and the help of a green lady, a mythical Scottish ghost. Thankfully the troop leaders sent by the king are long on patience. Kilty Party is full of interesting characters and subplots. This is a nicely written novel, entertaining, fun, and steamy. It is the ideal romance. I highly recommend it.
I was given a free ARC of Kilty Party by Dragonblade. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
Couldn’t finish it.
I have to say this was a fun story to read! Both Caitlin and Shaw are being forced into a marriage neither one wants In order to stop the feuding between their two clans, that is until they see each other. For them it is truly love at first sight. Unfortunately their family’s don’t see things the same way and are trying to ruin it for them. I had to laugh at both Shaw’s sister and Caitlins brother who both protest to much! I did enjoy watching the sparks fly! Fun story to read, definitely recommend reading this book.
